Anyone still have drop signal and drop data with 4.0.4 ?
I have use following components more then 48hrs, and don't have drop signal and drop data any more.
Radio/Baseband:
cwm-radio-i9250-xxla2 (latest radio from Google)
Kernel:
franco.Kernel-r158 (best kernel on market)
ROM:
aokp_maguro_build-35 (latest aokp rom)
I was getting lots of drops after the update from 76D to 76I which I wasn't getting before the update I had to turn the phone of and on again to get the signal back. I was also getting reboots almost daily.
I downloaded the 76I full ROM from Google here, flashed it and now all is fine No re-boots, no signal drops.
oh - all stock except rooted and unlocked
It only drops Wi-Fi signal and sometimes HSPA as well when I'm using Bluetooth. Otherwise IMM76I has been rock solid. Love the new camera!

Same for me. I had the odd data drop on UGKL1. After the radio upgrade to UGLC1, i'm all good.
I've had one so with XXLA2 but then didn't have one with UGLC1. I flashed back to the first radio and so far has been going strong.

Updated :
After using above components for week, still have drop data problem and battery running very fast, e.g. battery fully charge 100% and then standby 8 hrs, after that battery going down to 80%, used 20% for 8 hrs standby
now rollback to Android 4.0.3 aokp-maguro-milestone-4 !
I was using aokp 35 and milestone 5 with several different kernels and modems and having data drop issues. I also tried Gummy with different kernels and modems and still had data drops.
I have since switched to CM9 nightlies in the thread by imfloflo and using the kernel and modem that comes with it and all is fine now.
I miss some of the features in aokp but at least i can send an MMS without having to reboot now.

I searched and didnt find anything that seemed to be the same topic.
I updated to 4.0.4, MoDaCo custom lr11 (lMM30B) from the factory ota 4.0.2 because it sucked. Now everything seems to work great but the wifi distance seems to have dropped. In places where my iphone and this phone on .2 had 3 to 4 bars on wifi the .4 now struggles to hold 1 bar. In my room with the router about 8 feet away I get 1 or 2 bars and only get all 4 when its within 2 feet. Any free wifi spot that I have saved and used to use perfectly is pretty much gone now. I wouldn't make a big deal of it but the area I am usually in most of the day is extended for me so I don't have 3 or 4g access.
Anyone know of a fix.
ty in advance
What baseband are you using? Most if not all custom roms exclude the baseband so you will need to update that manually.

same problem here! my radio signal, too, sucks a lot more compared to when i was on stock.
all started happening after rooting and flashing to aokp.

You need to change your baseband to a later version. There are issues if you have the old one while running a rom based on 4.0.3 or above.

yeah i have flashed to the latest one but the problem still persists on my aokp.
strangely i decided to flash a new rom which the bugless beast and so far it's working good.
Sorry, Baseband is
l515.09 V.EK05 / L515.EK02
I see the rom update Ir12 out there so I think I will update to it. I see a change log for a previous patch that addressed the signal stregth. Will post back if any changes. Hopefully will fix it.

next time try flashing a different Kernel if your having issues and have tried flashing a different baseband. Faux or trinity seem to be best for me using AOKP
Nothing worked...
Tried several things from roms to just the radios and I couldnt get anything to upgrade. Guess I'll wait until .5 or something.
Hi guys,
I'm on Wind mobile in Canada (london), running AOKP 32 with franco kernal milestone 2. I've been noticing that my nexus completely drops signal once or twice a day and then picks it back up after a couple of seconds, while I'm using it. I just bought the phone about a week ago and was quick to put on 4.0.4. I've also tried the ugla4, uglc1, xxla2 modems with the issue persisting. I'm really hoping this is a software issue related to 4.0.4. Is anyone else having the problem?

That was the first thing I tried! I'm still surprised it didn't work.
Roman himself has signal drop issues with AKOP ... i haven't had a single issue on CM9 where i have on different roms ... i'm using UGCL1 radio on Rogers and in London as well
Try setting your min CPU to 700
disabling smart reflex is usually a better option then increasing the min clock speed as that will decrease battery life. Fugumod kernel has smartreflex disabled.
I have been having this issue, although since flashing AOKP B32 and stock kernel I have not been having that issue. I wonder if he changed something in the last build. Also using UGLC1 radio.

I switched to CM9 after you suggested it might be an issue with AOKP. It's a little early to tell, but I've been using CM9 for about 2 days without any issues. It looks AOKP may have been the culprit after all.
Is anyone else having issues with their connection? I'm on T-Mobile USA, and haven't had this issue until I upgrade from Android Revolution 2.x (4.0.2) to Android Revolution v4.01 (4.0.4) I tried AOKP (4.0.4) and also experienced issues. A revert back to 4.0.2 fixes it.
I definitely am. I'll have no data one time and full hspa+ after a reboot.

This issue has been fixed a long time ago
aokp m5/liquidsmooth 1.4 will have the fixes
look for rom builds with IMM76I or kernels with the fixes (glados/francos/trinity)
nope. stock 4.0.4.
im still getting signal drops on AOKP as well even on M5 or b35 or b36
airplane mode on then off fixes it
changed radio to UGLC1 helped a little bit but still drops from time to time
so paranoidandroid for me for now and no signal drops

it is not rom related then its the kernel they use.
paranoidandroid uses the cm9 kernel
glados/francos/trinity/cm9 kernel dont have issues.
Been running AOKP for quite some time now but I've been getting random blackouts lately where my phone will show zero bars of service with an X through it and it will come back within 30 seconds but it has been known to drop calls and it generally just ****s everything up. Happens a few times daily. Anyone else?
I've been running AOKP build 36 and Franco Kernel r166. I have experienced a couple data drops. It rarely ever happens for me.
What build and kernel are you running?

Maybe try wiping cache/dalvik?
i heard it's an issue with most if not all 4.0.4 builds out right now. some people suggest trying different kernels, others just say to do a clean install, etc. The only time it really happens to me is when connect to wifi, then disconnect. it doesn't go connect my data unless i reboot. can still get calls/texts though. this was on milestone5. I just upgraded to b38 and it may have cleared up, but i'll keep running tests.

Hmmm, I always wipe everything good when I install new builds. I also usually use Franco kernel, sometimes the AOKP kernel when I'm lazy or forget to install Franco.
This is a known issue with AOKP and also Franco's kernel.
Good to know thanks.
More like it is a known issue with AOSP in general from reading around as CM has it as well.

I was having the SAME EXACT issues, I fixed it 100% buy doing a full wipe (user + system data, plus dalvik) through recovery, and re-installing the most current CM9 Nightly (6/3/2012 for me) and now my phone hasn't dropped the signal ONCE in the 8+ hours I have been using it heavily.
I'm thinking the full wipe was all it needs and the ROM doesn't really matter, but I read somewhere (probably here) that if you underclock your CPU to anything below 400 Mhz then it will have issues connecting to the towers, I don't know how accurate that is, but I can confidently say that I have my Nexus back!
I'm using the most recent radios included in CM9 Toro 6/3/2012 which are the newest ones that Verizon pushed out with their 4.0.4 update.
My battery life is horrible now but I could care less at this point (4 months with a shoddy signal).

Well there ya go, Franco stock settings have a low end of 384Mhz I believe.
I was on AOKP b37 with the 4.0.4 radios on my old phone and had the same problems, but they happened from day 1 on stock software and were what caused me to root. If you always had the problem before rooting, then it is more than likely the phone. Full wipes didn't work, new radios didn't work, only getting a new phone worked.

So, should I wait for a fix, or wipe everything and install Gummy's rom?
Because it's having a phone without it's functionality www4.slikomat.com/11/0605/rew-DSC004.jpg
I have no issues on build 38 running ezekeels kernel 1.34
does gummy have the compass fixed all roms are backwards and that sucks

No, return it to stock and have Verizon send you a new one.
Running AOKP B38 + Franco M3, and NEVER had this issue. Always clean install, and even in AOKP M5, up to every build leading to 38, never had data connection issues.

I was having the same issue with data drops happening on a regular basis even in strong LTE areas to the gray X. I tried flashing every radio out there and several roms and never fixed it. finally got VZ to send me a replacement and the new one works flawlessly, zero drops.
I'd just get it replaced.
I've been able to fix this problem by running the UGLC1 kernel. Also make sure your RIL matches your radio: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t=W251bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5zaWJib3IuZ2V0cmlsIl0.
After flashing UGLC1 and making sure my RIL matches I haven't dropped signal once.

hey guys im new to the forum.
i have a rooted nexus (maguro) on the Three "3" network in the UK and i was running AOKP for around 8 months with no signal problems at all. I flashed a new rom(jellybean) back in august and now my signal drops around every few mins and then comes back for a few mins and drops again. I have tried restoring to my old AOKP backup and the problem continues. i have flashed other jb roms and tried all different ril's using getril off the market but i just cant seem to stop this problem.
can anyone help? would be very much appreciated, thanks.
Try the app GetRIL and look if you have the right RIL and Baseband. If you don' have the right, you can change it ith the app.

hey, that's what ive been trying but even when i have a matching RIL and Baseband i still get the signal loss. i know it isn't my network as my gf is on the same network and her signal is fine
Try a different radio?

Anyway, the GSM antenna on the Nexus is not the best around, so you may get slightly worse signal compared to other phones.

custom rom zips don't include any radio.
flashing a stock google image using fastboot will flash the radio over.
I have the same problem with you, but i am in Vodafone's network in Greece.
When i flashed the first aokp jb i started having problems with disconnections. The XXLF1 radio was extremely buggy.
Then i tried a ics rom and downgraded my radio to matching xxla2. But the problem remained so i changed back to aokp jb again.
Now i still have a buggy radio (total signal loss, data drops) but not so much as before.
It might be a problem with the frequencies each carrier use. I say that because when i had "2G only" enabled i had no signal but when i turned on 3G i had three bars at the same spot.
Anyway, i hope they release a better radio on the next update.

Refer to the link I included above, try different radios and remember to match the RIL.
Will the next nexus have a longer screen?
