This ROM is completely stock with exception of root/busybox added and it uses the repacked EL26 that Chris41G posted so that you keep CWM. Once a repacked EL29 kernel is up, I will reupload the ROM to include it
All must be flashed through CWM
Stock Rooted EL29 ROM (v1.0)
Stock Rooted De-odex'd EL29 ROM (v1.0)
EL29 Modem
EL29 Stock Kernel - No CWM
Thanks to puertoblack2003 for posting the tar of this version

Its De-odexed, it should be a little smaller and the odex files are built into the apk.
:| I just flashed EL26 yesterday too. :|
can i install this and then install the el13? i just want the stock rom.
You can go back to el13 if you want....that is what I use.
This seems to be just a small update to EL26 but great post. Using it now, hotspot mod seems to work with it just fine.
question, is there a preferred order of updating? like should i do the kernal first or modem first etc?
also, i am looking forward to trying this out because el26 was horrible on my phones battery life so i was about to go back to el13 today. but now i'll try this

This ROM is completely stock with exception of root/busybox added.
Big thanks to sfhub for posting ODIN tar files.
All I did is pulling system from my phone after flashing it via ODIN and make a flashable zip for those of you who prefers zip files.
Rom must be flashed through CWM and it has stock FD16 kernel so you will loose custom recovery.
Stock FD16 can be downloaded here:

No need for PC.

This is not an oficial update from sprint.
This is a leaked software.
If you are on GB rom you can flash this but only after applying Calculings format all zip file.
If you flash directly over GB without wiping data you may end up in boot loop or worse.
I think this build has improved battery usage.
It's too soon to say but so far the battery usage graph is pretty horizontal.
Let's hope Sammy and Sprint did something about ICS battery.

It should be in the FE21 I put together as well. The way dsixda's Android Kitchen creates the ZIP, the updater-script uses flash_image to flash the kernel.

Yes u will lose cwm. It comes with just stock recovery, can't flash anything with it. You can go yo sfhub FE22 and go to B section and download the FE22 plus kernel cwm recovery and then flash this and that kernel right afterwards and you'll have the stock recovery that you flash stuff, but it's not cwm (no backup/restore). If you want cwm, gonna have to wait for agat to repack acs recovery or u can use FE21 acs repack for now if you want backup/restore.

Hey everyone,
This is a modified stock kernel based on AT&T UCALH9 and is ONLY compatible with stock-based ICS roms. I haven't seen this around so I decided to make it myself for all to use and assist in development. The root application of choice is Chainfire's SuperSU. Remember that the first boot takes longer than usual after you clear the cache.
Features:
•Insecure rooted kernel
•init.d script support
•ADB support
•Custom bootanimation.zip support
Instructions:
1.Download the recovery-flashable zip to your phone's SD card
2.Flash in recovery
3.Wipe cache and dalvik cache
4.Reboot and enjoy
Standard disclaimer: I am not responsible for anything bad that happens to your phone. I have personally tested this on my own AT&T SGS3 and it works great for me.
Special thanks to NunHugger for his infinite wisdom in helping me figure out how to get custom boot animations working and letting me borrow his updater script. Also thanks to dsixda for the amazing Android Kitchen.

From here
Mirror
Or, alternatively, directly from this thread
Kernel Source: http://opensource.samsung.com
Secondary ODIN Instructions
This is the modified kernel made flashable in ODIN ONLY. Do not flash this in recovery as it will not work. Flashing with ODIN will increase your flash counter so if you use it, make sure to use Triangle Away to set your counter back to zero. Flashing using Mobile ODIN will NOT increase your flash counter, however.

Awesome, thank you for putting this together! Seems like everyone here is using leaked jb builds, ports, etc. and no one is building on the latest ota ics update. At the moment I'm more interested in stability than trying out new stuff so I'm on rooted, debloated stock UCALH9.
I'll give this a whirl today, thanks again for working on it.

Thanks again, it's working great. Thanks to this kernel I was able to get some of the V6 Supercharger settings to stick that wouldn't stick on re-boot before (except for those setting requiring a deodexed rom), as well as some performance enhancements and custom boot animation using Rom Toolbox that I couldn't get to work before.
Looking forward to trying out your rom. Cheers!

Hey guys, I'm just wondering if there is any demand for a UCALH9 based ROM with Aroma installer so you can pick and choose what you want included, and that also includes this kernel. I may have something along those lines in the works.

Thanks for the kernel. I’m getting longer “deep sleep” now and Light Flow seems to be working better too.
A deodex, rooted LH9 rom would be nice. Not a user of Aroma installer.

I'm glad to hear that. Aroma is nice, but it takes a long time to get it set up to my liking (I don't like issues). I'm happy to announce that I am currently uploading a ROM based on UCALH9 with this kernel included. I've spent a lot of time on this to make it right. Expect new updates soon As I talk to themers. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33584484#post33584484

drothenburger's thread in General has an unmodified UCALH9 kernel. I don't know if it's rooted. I have a stock boot animation in themes and apps that you can use with this kernel though to remedy the stock feel.

You will need to flash this from a custom recovery rather than 3e. Cwm or twrp will work. You can flash the tar file from Odin though. It will increase your flash counter though. Easily remedied once you're rooted with triangle away. Note that this will not automatically root you. Use qcom toolkit for that

Hi guys, here are odex and deodex versions of LK8. Please follow the guide below for the best way to get onto LK8.
Odin to LJC (need to go back to completely stock for OTA updates)
Apply the update.zip to LK8 via stock recovery
Install TWRP (Use the Odin method, otherwise you will have to us CF Auto-Root and take extra steps)
Reboot to recovery and flash one of the LK8 .zips from here
This method assures you get onto the latest radio, as well as having the latest firmware.
Note: You may be able to do this via a one click LJC package, but I have not tested this. If this works, start at step 3.
Note: You may be able to just flash one of these .zips and apply the updates manually, but again, I have not tested this either.
Changlog from LJC:
Waking with home button no longer exits the foreground app
Issues:
None

There are only a few slight changes made to this over stock...

enabled USB Debugging
unsecured kernel and swapped /sbin/adbd with one from the Galaxy Nexus (allows /system remount)
removed /system/etc/install-recovery.sh (not needed)
removed /system/etc/security/otacerts.zip (prevents nagging OTA message that won't apply on a rooted system anyway)
CSC files from LJC (removed non-Sprint CSC files as well)
Nice
