The last three letters after the period are the file extension. On this file they indicate it is a RAR. You need a program to unpack RARs. Once unpacked the files are probably PDFs.
Using the xda developers app it doesn't show the full file name. It shows a box and partial name.

Just DL it with a computer. For the most part it is a disassembly/reassembly guide anyway and your not going to do that with the PDF on your phone
can not upload as PDF cause it exceeds the max file size as PDF which is 900kb

Hi all,
Im kind of new here to wp7 and was wondering if anything like this is even being considered:
1.Tile customization by placing a 400x400 .png somewhere in file system and having that instead of the color chosen in "theme"
2.file manager (for complete device)
3.Boot animations
Thanks and please fill me into anything i should know being a noob

it's set that way for ALL phones/carriers on gtalk. the only way to remove the restriction is to edit the android.gsf file in sqlite, but as far as i've searched the normal files to edit aren't on our SGS3.
See if this works.

I was able to do it on my HTC thunderbolt over 4g with verizon. Maybe because I was rooted, and someone edited the android.gsf file?
The files are there. I used root explorer to browse to the files then sqlite in order to edit 1 entry once edited your are golden.
Path: /data/data/com.android.gsf/gservices.db
In that file open the main table and edit gtalk_vc_wifi_only to false and then reboot

Verizon too?
Does anyone know if gtalk_vc_wifi_only is in a different location on Verizon phones?
When I filter for gtalk in com.google.android.gsf > gservices.db > main
I have about twenty records come up, but nothing resembling the wifi only setting.
This is great information. Thanks!
However, if I'm on mobile data and I'm trying video chatting with someone who is on their PC, it starts but then ends shortly after that and my friend's PC displays an error in their talk window that says there was a "problem with our servers". It happens on Chrome and IE. On my phone, it says that they ended the chat. On the other hand, if I'm on wifi, it works fine. Has anybody run into this problem?

For those of you on verizon, it works for me straight from stock, not limited out of the box. I have at least been able to do it on 4G, haven't tried 3G yet.
This works on all Verizon phones with OS 2.3.6 and up over 3G/4G & Wi-Fi. No root needed

My all time favorite boot animation on my S2 and Evo was a mock bios POST from an old motherboard (The ones that had ENERGY STAR on the top right and tested ram and displayed a POST). It brought back warm fuzzy nostalgia feelings from my first computers.
Anyways, because no one has made one yet for the N7, I decided to have a go. I made it show in landscape since I have the N7 in landscape 99% of the time. The first 2 zips are NOT flashable, so use a root explorer to put it in the /system/media folder. The last 3 are, and include a 'revert to stock' zip as well. If you manually place the zips, ensure the permissions are set at 'rx....r....r '.
For anyone curious, I used the application 'boot animation factory'. It's a windows program that worked flawlessly
And just FYI this is cross posted to reddit on the nexus 7 subreddit.
EDIT: User Spannaa was awesome and made flashable versions, as well as a 'revert to stock' flashable, which are attached below. They are the last 3 attachments.

I just checked it on my N7. Both the landscape and the portrait work fine when placed in the /system/media/ and renamed bootanimation.zip. For what it's worth, I'm using Root Explorer Lite. I reuploaded the attachment just in case.

Yes it will, so long as you have root or are very familiar with ADB. Otherwise there is no way to get the zip into the appropriate directory.
One reddit user had a fix for it not working. I guess different root managers have different default permissions for files.

The folks over at Socketeq have released WindowsAndroid. It runs natively on your Windows machine, meaning that there is no need for emulation. WindowsAndroid runs on the Windows kernel, instead of the Linux kernel. Currently they are on Android v4.0.3. It's compatible with Vista, Win7, and Win8. Keyboard and Mouse are fully supported. This is the early release, so there might be some bugs.
Normally download is hosted on Socketeq's website, but right now the site is down due to heavy loads. Here is and alternate link if your interested:

I cant update them from the intel site it scans my pc and that it it says pc scanned succusfully or something but that i cant get them from that place or something isnt there any frweeware that updates it.
I've tried it quickly.
It "works" but I can't do anything great by now.
I copied a personal APK in the app storage (on the C drive). My app appears, I'm able to launch it, but when I try to made modification in it, it finaly crash.
I hope there will be new release, and also the possibitlity to use the Play Store !
how do you get it run ? I ran the exe and a console open , then a windows popups and then the whole thing just crashes leaving me at the command prompt
Quick note, if you download an ICS Gapps and unzip it, the copy the apks from system/app/ to the system/app/ in the folder where you installed WindowsAndroid then restart WindowsAndroid you will have gapps (Market, etc). However the available apps are very limited (build.prop edit might fix that), and I personally get an error any time I try to download an app.

there isn't a way to disable it. it's even like that in desktop browser. the best you can do on the desktop it set it to ask where to save each file. idk if you can do that on the mobile version but it'll still make a pop up every time you download something so it's not likely a solution you are looking for.
