slide and lose icons - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Somehow when I slide to switch screens or just slide to unlock, sometimes I lose icons in the lower "sticky" part of the screen. Recently, the phone dialer, messaging, and the app icon disappeared.
I've had this happen on GB and various ICS. Right now I'm using Apex on Dark Side Evolution from May 9th.
I have finally made a backup and fortunately was able to restore. But it's frustrating to need to use the dialer and it's gone!
What am I donig wrong?

Make sure that you are using darkside superwipe before installing any new custom rom.
If that method doesn't work try going into settings any restore it.

What launcher are you using

[Q] Sense Problem

I am running Sprint Lovers ROM, w/ Netarchy 4.3.2, cfs, no havs, nouv, sbc kernel on 0003 hardware -- with a few of JsChiSurf's mods thrown in: 5 row rosie, transparent app drawer, vanilla lock screen Z& banner text mods.
This has all been working swell for me until yesterday. The most recent addition is SiMi Folder app. Since I started using that, Sense won't come-up right after a reboot. I get my wallpaper -- and NOTHING else. No widgets, no apps -- just a nice nice background picture with nothing in the foreground.
I have deleted Sense data and rebuilt my desktop from scratch. Works until the next reboot, then same problem. I have restored Sense data, from before the appearance of the problem, via Titanium Backup. Works until the next reboot, then same problem.
I guess the next experiment has to be getting rid of the SiMi Folder app and then see what happens.
Anyone else with a similar experience in Sense?

If this started right after you started using simi folder, the first thing I'd try is getting rid of it, and then a reboot.

Update
The problem has simply vanished. I thought I would reboot one more time, see what happened, and then do exactly as y'all have suggested if it didn't start up right. It started up just fine. And, has one more time since then.
Gremlins... But then, we get used to those in this OS.

[Q] Icons in App Drawer Stack On Top Of One Another

Alright my friends, this one has me at a loss. Quick sitrep.. I've been using Fresh Evo for a while but I hated the G.B. updated cause there was just too much core functionality that wasn't working right, so I went back to Froyo and really didn't care too much. Last night I went ahead and ran the update to Fresh Evo 4.2.0.0. (GB) and all was well.
Turns out that on G.B. using Launcher Pro, when I open the app drawer and switch from portrait to landscape, effectively forcing the redraw with auto rotate...after it rotates the icons in the app drawer all stack up in the top left corner. One on top of the other...like a deck of cards. If I initiate a swipe they come back, but this is effin' annoying. I've been to Launcher Pro's website, seen a buttload of these reports on his site, but absolutely not one response from the dev, nor a remedy for this situation.
So, anyone here seen this situation and ultimately fixed it or might have a fix for me? I've already tried multiple fixes from wiping cache, trying again...NOT using titanium backup to reinstall app+data and installing manually from market, using the 3D app drawer effect and reinstalling the ROM entirely (even though I'm fairly certain it's not ROM related) Help?!

Can I add a Horizontal Slide to Answer Calls?

After moving from rooted stock I went to Cyanogenmod 7.1 which I really liked but I was having stability issues. I went to Legacy Classic which I find to be fast and stable even though it has Sense.
What I really liked about Cyanogenmod was the lock screen and the horizontal sliders to answer or reject a phone call. Legacy Classic uses the default Slide Down Lock which causes all sorts of problem when I take my phone out of my pocket.
I have been able to disable the SDL with MyLock Utilities and replace with lock screen with LockMenu. I now get the Answer and Decline Buttons as default, which also causes problems when I reach into my pocket to get the phone when it rings.
Is there an app that will give me a horizontal slider to answer the phone, like with Cyanogenmod, or is it possible to easily take whatever program from Cyanognedmod and flash/install it into Legacy Classic? I have my Titanium Backup and nandroid backup of my Cyanogenmod ROM so I can access whatever I need to from it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

There's a mod in classic themes and mods to remove sense lockscreen and give u the stock AOSP lock sliders which is what cm7 has. It will use the horizontal lock for lockscreen and to answer/decline calls

I run Fresh and was actually wondering the same thing. Could I.somehow integrate this into Fresh 4.33?

Thanks -EViL-KoNCEPTz- for showing me the AOSP Lock Slider in Themes. It is more elegant than the workaround I used with the apps.
I have the unlock screen I want but I still get the Slide Down or Slide Up option when a call comes in instead of the horizontal slide. I have not seen anything in the Market that will give me this.
Any suggestions?

Have you tried using tibu to delete htclockscreen.apk from the phone? It may change the call lock I haven't been on classic for a few weeks if I have time later ill nandroid and flash classic and take a look, which version are u on?

I am using The EVO Classic v0.0.5 - Sense 1.0 Redefined - Ecstatic.
I have not used tibu (Titanium BackUp?) to delete the htclockscreen.apk. Won't that only delete the backup and not what is installed on the phone? Also, what would the default phone screen be then?
If it makes any difference I am using Go Launcher instead of the Sense Launcher or even the default Gingerbread Launcher.
Thanks for any assistance you can give and I look forward to hearing what you have to say once you flash classic

No u can use titanium backup to back up and uninstall files including system files I use it to remove all kinds of crap when I'm customizing my rom you can also use a root explorer es explorer is a good free one and navigate to system/data/ app and rename htclockscreen.apk to something like htclockscreen.apk.bak and it will disable it since the phone will no longer recognize it as aa valid apk. I'm not 100% sure since its been a while but the aosp lockscreen mod for classic may have deleted the lockscreen apk anyways but I'd have to double check to be sure I've been trying to port the 3.0 lock and answer decline to 1.0 but it's been an exercise in FC's so far 3.0 and 1.0 frameworks are so different its difficult to mod it to be accepted by 1.0s framework

Found in system/app was two files called "htclockscreen". One was 105.93K and the other was 734.85k using Astro. When I press on them I get "File type odex not found" and "File type tt not found" respectively. I am not sure which one to change if at all.
When I am home from work I will do a TB and nandroid backup before proceeding any further. I will also wait to see what you get.
Thanks again.

What icon is this on my desktop???

Hi There,
I recently did a hard reset and install all my apps - I am an obsesive compulsive about this...lol
Anyway...I noticed I have a Android icon on my phone. I did not install anything to generate this icon, I am running stock firmware on Bell with stock ICS launcher.
When I click the icon I get served with a window asking me to select my default browser (native or chrome). I did not add the icon there so I have not gone any further.
anyone ever see this before/
Sounds like an app has added a web shortcut to your desktop. Doesn't mean its malicious though, Just remove icon.

I believe when you did the reset and restored all of your apps, whatever launcher your using decided to save your desktop setting and layout. I am assuming that you may have had a search icon there before the reset and after the reset you don't have the same search app installed. I could be completely wrong but I remember having that android icon on my home screen after installing a new rom and restoring with titanium backup. It didn't restore some of the system apps so I just deleted it off my screen and put it back on.
Thank you for the response guys.
I think I may have found the culprit. I installed a app called EasyMP3 Downloader (that was the last app I installed). It would appear this app uses AirPush for obtrusive mobile marketing.
I tried removing the EasyMP3 Downloader - but the search icon is still there.
fyi...I did not install any launcher or use titanium to restore. my GS is %100 stock I just logged into google to reinstall all my apps and they installed EasyMP3 after the fact.
Hold your finger on the icon and drag to the top of screen to delete (I think, haven't used stock launcher for ages!l

Thank you. I know how to remove it. My concern was how it got there in the first place ;-)
I think is has to do with the ad serving function i mentioned earlier. I may just do another hard reset to make sure.

Stock Texting App Issues

Hey folks, I really want to use the stock messaging app because I want to be able to use the notification launching from the lock screen. However, I find that using the back button from within the app causes it to go back to the previous conversation, over and over. I have to hit it 10 times sometimes to finally get back to the main screen where I can select another conversation or start a new one. Am I missing something here? There HAS to be a better way to do this.
As far as I know that's classic gingerbread behavior. Bugs me too. ICS refines all that. ICS has many little improvements in areas like this that make the whole UI smoother. ICS should be here this month.

I get notifications on the ICS lock screen with Handcent.
The notifications work, but the slide to launch for hand cent never works right.
