I just rooted my Evo 4G but never installed any custom ROM yet, as I was waiting for the official Sprint update for the Gingerbread.
They just posted that the Gingerbread is coming to Sprint Evo 4G.
My question is, will I be able to install this official Gingerbread from Sprint even though I have rooted my phone?
You can install it, but you'll lose root. Wait for one of the devs here to post a rooted version first.
Hey man, just for future reference, this should be in the Q and A section. Your about to get a royal flaming session.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695878
If you install it you will lose root.....just wait cause aol of our awesome developers will have a rooted version out before you know it....most of them are just waiting on the offical release to put the final touches on the roms before putting them out

why do people keep answering questions here? quit it and people will stop doing this
Can we please post this in Q&A thread . Someone move this .
the simple answer to the original question is..
yes.
are we done?
Does it really matter where he posts his threads? The point of XDA is to help and inform others about their phones. I understand this isn't the Q&A but give me a break. Just look over it and move on.

Isn't there a question and answer section ?
Why is it that people are asking this? Has there been any announcement of the GB update?

1st of all you need to stop making random threads and then people may start respecting you a little more.
2nd you should ask relevant Rom related questions in that roms thread.
3rd you should by now know 1 and 2 :banghead:

Is there a possibility to add the rotational animation effect to a SONY GingerBread rom?. I'm asking this because in CM 7 ROM, that is based on Gingerbread, this effect is present. I'm not sure if this feature is in Framework, but is there someone that could port that to a SONY GB rom?.
And another question: What about a multitasking GB rom?, on GB when you switch to another app, the last one closes, and if you back to last one used from the recent app list it opens from the begining.
Hope that advance people respond to this.
Thanks for your time.:fingers-crossed:
rotacion animation like one in ics?
I didn't understand what do you want... Please be clear and use proper English...

Sorry, I was on a rush. I corrected the meaning.
As far as I know it is not possible to add an rotation transition effect into GB. From what I remember reading back in the GB days, the animation is dealt within the lib files ( .so files) which can't be edited. I could be wrong, but this is what I read. There was a thread investigating this matter.

Hi,
Get the libsurfaceflinger.so and libsurfacefliger client from system/libs the CM7 ROM and put that in system/libs of your desired ROM. If you need more help ask away. Let me research about the multitasking

I checked your post, and I noticed that the files you mentioned already was in CM7 rom, but not in a GB rom. Anyway, I'm sure that this is not as simple as adding those files to a GB rom. I'm sure that some harcoding must be done on a SONY GB ROM to acomplish that.
Hope that any other advanced dev see this thread and discuss it. :fingers-crossed:
If I would started this topic in the DEV section (because only devs can answer this kind of question), I would have at least 10 responses from devs.
Then, this thread was moved to "General Arc", and there I could have at least two more replies.
But now.. This thread was moved to " Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting", and in this thread... there is no dev reading posts.
I know that rules are alive before I post something... but aswell, I know that if I do a very tech question... geberal and Q&A forums will not give a spected answer.
SO. wich user could spect a worth response from a right devr?
If devs would look at the Q&A and general forums, maybe this place would be with a lot of less noobs asking what already was answered.
Thanks. :good:

I don't understand you mate. Weeo tried to help you but you wont even try to do as he said so please explain to me whats the point of this thread when you won't accept any help?

"Noobs" that are asking already answered questions are helpless and any dev or whatever god you believe in wouldn't help them because they are simply lazy or retarded.

Sorry, Im not a developer, and so, I cannot coock a rom adding the files mentioned. Anyway, Weeo answer was the most interesting, I'm giving that to some developers and see if the could try to do something.
what weeo is right bcz an (.so) file cant be edited after its compiled ....so CM rom are built from source where .so files can be edited before compiling...so thats why CM7 have those animations....
its not possible to add that in stock roms...
i told my point of view.......if iam wrong plz correct me..

mm, seems that the door is still open
I personally think that finally it's not possible... if so, the old GB developers would implemented that already.
I'm wondering is there existed some SONY X10 coocked rom with that feature.
i was looking into this a while back and someone seems to have managed it on samsung S2 2.3.6

Now im using CM9 FINAL3 By: maclaw studio and for me its work fine, smooth and great but the problem is i found out that there is no phone, csc and pda installed in the rom.
additional issue:
1. launcher- that rom has a built in launcher called rocket launcher which is not really good to use
Dude, you are just talking about CM9 by maclaw. In every thread, in every post. Chill out a bit. Plus, you posted this here. The thread has no sense and wrong forum...

Because you have asked for the best and most stable ROM and this is a no no question on XDA.
Sent from my C5303 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
It's not true!!! I know I can't do it... I've never asked about the best rom or more stable rom! I've just asked for an advice about a stable that no need to unlock bootloader! Never "the best or most"...please could I have my topic back? I need it...

I don't remember well the title, if it's "stable" you can change it...I need the names of the ROMs...please!
You could have warned me or close it , but why delete it?

Buddy every rom has its pros (n cons...)
Read the first post in every rom thread u have for ur device.. then decide which ones suits u best...
That aint difficult right?
And why u want a list of roms when u already have them arranged in development section?
I wasn't the one who deleted your thread. Also asking for stable(ish) ROM is a bad idea. Feel free to visit the development section where you can find tons of ROMs ready to flash. It's really not that difficult, try it
P.S. Also you can't access your thread, because it's deleted.

Reading the first post of each ROM, you find in each one: "Best and smoothest ROM ever!"...so how can you choose it just reading first post?!

exactly! dont read first posts.. read posts after 2 pages and read until around 20 pages if you want to be sure that its fine.. and if its a old thread, read last 20 pages to know its current rom status.. usually it will give you a vague idea on how it is.. or search term "bugs" and you will see all kind of posts reporting various bugs.. read around 4-6 posts after each bug report to find solution for it if you have same issue..

Read the features ..not the tag lines..
You know better than me that only flashing and testing a ROM you can see if is good or not...not reading what people write in the features... Anyway I learned the lesson! Thanks

mate what others will tell u is their point of preference... if I like cm I will ask u to choose cm.. if u ask someone else.. he will say to go for stock based rom...
In a nut shell ..
If u want speed smooth ui (poor battery no fm radio) go for cm
If u want stable rom plus fm radio plus stock look .. go for a stock based rom
Ok. I'm assuming that all points have been discussed.
