Could someone PLEASE be kind enough to try to explain how to place a Nandroid backup into the TWRP folder using ADB??
PLEASE.
While some people on here are very skilled at what they do others are not and those people sometimes forget that and don't explain things clearly...
Following half-assed instructions now has my Sprint Galaxy Nexus telling me there's "no sim card" and I have no service...
I did find a Nandroid backup but I have to put in in the TWRP folder using ADB and I have no clue how to...
any/all "help" that I seem to find makes no sense because, like I said, some folks assume EVERYONE is a developer with 10 years experience and their 5-word instructions will explain everything...
I've been searching for hours with no luck...
anyway, if someone can please tell me what to do I'd be greatly appreciative.
thanks.
Simple download that nandroid. Make a nandroid... then mount the phone to your PC. Then find the twrp folder in the internal storage on the computer and go into the backups then into the long gibberish folder and paste that nandroid in there should be a date.... then go into recovery and restore it.... no adb needed I just did this for my phone.

This is for CDMA Sprint Nexus S 4G only!!!!
This will reload your NS4G back to its original state from the factory. This will take away root and erase ALL data.
This would be helpful if you phone won't boot or need to return it back to Sprint. This will take it back to stock.
Instructions:
Extract the zip file to your computer and then run setup.exe.

I am running this from Windows7. Do I need anything else? the interface keeps giving me an error when I press the download button. I have rebooted the computer and made sure no adb.exe files were running in windows. I have shut off my antivirus as well just in case.
Edit: Redid all the steps again. Shut down the Microsoft security client. and it is working fine now. I also copied the Samsung folder from Program Files X86 to Program Files X64 just in case it needed to be in both spots. I am running W7 X64. I remember the HTC drivers needed to be in both spots to operate correctly.
Edit:Edit - You will also have to reactivate the phone when the install is complete. Hope they dont charge me another activation fee.
Can be used in Odin
Also found out that you can use Odin to flash this. Inside C:\Program Files (x86)\Samsung Electronics\SWUpgrade for SPH-D720\Binary there is a tar file called SPH-D720_GRJ22_PDA.tar. You can put this into the PDA section in Odin and flash the ROM.

Then you are saying everyone who doesnt want to learn command lines shouldnt have access to rooting and flashing new roms to their phone. Toolkits are easy and fast when you are in trouble and need to get back to stock. There isnt anything wrong with using them just because you dont have to put a command line in.

Anyone coming into the android rooting, flashing roms, ect are kind of ignorant because they dont know everything. If we stay in the days of only using command lines and not coming up with faster ways to help our devices then that is being ignorant. There is just more than one way to do something. Just because someone uses a faster way it doesnt make then lazy but makes them open to new ways of doing things...

Using a toolkit is what is ignorant. With adb it is virtually impossible to "accidentally" do anything. Anybody who believes toolkits to be superior is either an idiot or too lazy to learn adb.
i would say that i have always tried to learn here, thats my goal , i dont know about other people and i dont criticize them , but it really frustrates me if i dont know whats going on when i am doing something. still TOO MUCH to learn:good:
Toolkit is only faster if you don't know how to use adb/ fastboot. Its only faster because you don't know what you're doing it takes me the same amount of time typing commands than using a toolkit basically I'm just waiting for the files to flash and move on to the next step. It isn't like when you're using a toolkit it can magically type and execute all the commands at the same time there is still a process being done.

Hello,
I bought a broken screen T989 from ebay. I needed the motherboard from the device. However, upon receiving device, i swapped motherboards no problem. However, i have an "Unknown" imei and baseband number.
I know there is a way to restore the IMEI from scratch on my galaxy S III (T999) but i am not sure if that method will work on the SII (Also quite afraid to as it most likely may brick it)
Does anyone know the manual method for restoring it?
Also, google lead to a bunch of promissing looking threads about the I9100 (International version) but from what i have read the T989 uses a different partition for the EFS stuff.
Thanks everyone!!
Do you know the imei number by any chance?

I got my T-989 fixed about 30 minutes after posting my question to you. I'm just not sure which one of the steps I took was the actual bullet. But I'll post what I did here in the same order.
1. Downloaded and put onto the phone's sd card these files for future flashing back to back. They are. the "efsfix.zip" file from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1611796. Also, this rom which comes with it's own modem. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818305. That's it. Now maybe the trick is in the steps though?
So what I did was boot into clockworkmod recovery "latest one for this phone." Used the factory reset option. Next went to mount the phone to usb option so I could access the internal memory card's files and deleted them all. I had a suspicion that maybe there's something corrupt in the data files or whatever. Really this might be silly but whatever, I did it. I still had my 2 files from before on the external sd card so no worries. Next I unmounted and disconnected from the pc. Then cleared cache again, then cleared dalvic again (I do these two steps a lot when flashing stuff back to back). Then flashed the efsfix.zip. Then clear cach, dalvic again. Then flashed the rom shown above which installed everything in one swoop like kernel, modem, system files, ect. After that finished I cleared cache, dalvic one last time. Then let it reboot.
So, it boots normally but upon the first "What is your name" screen it loads with a funky keyboard. It's a lol factor. Apparently a goof of the rom that happens sometimes. Just skip it all or figure out how to choose the T9 by using the menu key. Anyway, after changing my keyboard from inside the working settings menu to the samsung one I realized that I was so distracted by the keyboard issue that I I was just now noticing that I had a working baseband and it was connected to the network (T-Mobile) again as usual. Problem solved. Now as a last precautionary step I reboot into recovery (clockwordmod) again and use the option to backup efs folder to external sd card just for good measure. Then finally make nandroid backup of the whole working rom as well. You could probably flash any rom you want after this though. Anyway, something in there made it work so I hope it might work for you too.
Hello everyone, firstly I'd like to apologize in advance if this has been answered before. I searched and could not find a resource to help me with my problem. Here goes, I recently purchased a SGH-T889 Galaxy Note II. I managed to unlock the device and popped in a AT&T sim card. All was well until I decided to flash the AT&T varient stock firmware on it and that's when everything went wrong. Odin failed at the very end of the flash and the phone would not boot. I flashed back to TMobile stock and the phone boots into the OS fine but now the IMEI is blank, the baseband is unknown, and it says there is no SIM inserted. I also noticed when the phone is connected via USB the internal storage is not accesible, says there is 0 space. After searching around and reading up a bit it seems I have screwed up my EFS partition. Being the extreme noob that I am unfortunately a backup was not made prior to flashing. Am I screwed? I've tried reflashing different versions of the stock but I still get the same results. Is it possible to use a EFS backup from a different phone and insert the IMEI from my phone? Any help will greatly be appreciated.
:crying:

Flashing to stock is not your problem. If you're booting you're fine. You will need to restore your imei now. There is a guide in development (edit I actually didn't find it when I just checked, but that guide above should work). I'm sure you realize this now, but never Odin something not made for your phone.

Thanks for the links. I don't have the phone on me at the moment but will give this a try and hopefully this will fix the issue. When this happened to you were you able to see any internal storage from your PC and or the phone itself? When I went into the storage area under settings it displayed how much space was being used by the apps but it also said 0 was available.
