Paranoid Android Rom interest? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Any interest in having this Rom ported over? I have no clue how to do it but would love to see it ported over as it is and or ported over with AOKP as the base.

Cool. Good to hear. The rom looks great and has everything I want in it except probably based on AOKP would make me happier.

The best part of the rom so far has to be this
20120504v0.4preview: Apps were too small? Problem solved!
First ever Android ROM with Per-App-Density feature, it once and for all solves the problem that was tablet mode. You never, ever have to deal with apps that are too small again since now you can decide how apps, systemapps, framework-elements and even widgets are scaled by defining their native dpi seperately from the system DPI. Its an experimental feature and for now these values are defined in your /system/build.prop - it has drawbacks (maily notifications can look a bit strange), but that will be fixed in time. Warning: Keyboards MUST run in system DPI!
A list of apps and predefined values is included, this should include most of what you need. everything else is blown up to 210 dpi per standard. if you still need apps to be bigger, get a build.prop editor from the market, edit and reboot.
Trebuchet fixes: Folder Name cut-off, landscape name cut-off, divider bars
Please set your Font to "Normal" in the System Settings, you won't need "Huge" anymore and all this does now is provoke overlapping.

Haven't really gotten into the tablet roms much but this one looks SICK!
I'd definitely rock this.

HyDra Rom looks pretty much the same except for some theming and the wallpaper maybe check it out

Yeah u gotta love that dpi per app feature and evidently it is being worked on for the galaxy s2, which I am guessing is the international variant. And I do like the hydra rom. Just not that Mega blue theme. Lol I'm sure I could apply a different theme but I'd prob end up breaking something but hopefully someone will port this to our device. Looks good

just need two things
1. cyanogenmod or any stable aosp rom. aokp does not test their tab related code and you get a whole bunch of broken things that come with it, its not a good base for paranoidandroid. cm works out of the box.
2. a dev whos willing to port paranoidandroid and help us making the hybrid features better.

as far as i can tell its plain tablet mode. paranoid is hybrid mode. we do drop systemUI into tabmode, but do our best to not trash your device by doing so. you'll get stock look on most of your apps, can even decide if bigger or smaller.

th feature we're working on right now is called per-app-layout, you decide if your apps dress in mobile or tab dress, all without reboot:
we forked trebuchet from source and optimized it to run in that mode, its the best possible launcher for tablet mode
hacked a whole bunch of apps that normally crash on you or give you problems: market works 100%, keyboard doesnt stretch, gtalk doesnt stretch, etc. in short, this entire rom is made to support you in that mode because we know it gives you hell normally. in that its very different from tablet mode roms.

Yes the per app dpi is what makes it stand out than just a normal hybrid tablet ui mod. No need to deal with small fonts. No need to select large fonts. So this is not the same as Hydra as some seem to think.

Paranoid Android and ICSorcery are what my girl runs on her Verizon Ynez. They are simply beautiful works. I worry how they would work on the e4gt without kernel source, though.

I've ported this before everything worked except for the keyboard. I know that I'm cooking up something tonight with a fresh start. I'm pretty sure I can get the keyboard to work this time.

Great news. I love the the look of tablet mod but can't seem to settle in with the current roms that include tablet mod.
This one looks like it might be the one to win me over.
Good luck and thanks for making things possible.

[MOD] MIUI Extended Settings Mod

It's time for a change...I think some might like the changes others might not..
I've created an App. (it's my first one so no laughing!!!)
It contains the same options you know and love and a couple of new ones!!!
The idea of creating an App is to cut down on the number of files I have to tinker with each week. It was taking too much time. This way I only have to modify the SystemUI.apk and the Launcher2.apk and I'm done.
Those users who couldn't use this Mod because of the changes to services.jar should now be fine..
Couple of things to note..
The option to Hide the Debug Icon is missing. I'm trying to work out a way of hiding the icon without modifying services.jar
If you change the battery Top Bar you might notice a delay of a few seconds before it updates.. (Just me being Lazy)
The Auto Close feature is now standard with the Launcher so the option to enable it is no longer needed.
There are three version
ESCenter - Center Clock Version
ESSwitched - Center Clock, Notification and signal icons switched.
ESRight - Standard version with clock on the right as normal.

i strong heartedly disagree with the above poster. I'm on MIUI atm, and I get one full day of use out of my SGS, with HSDPA enabled /always connected, lots and lots of browsing, phone calls, sms, yahoo and whatsapp messenger online almost 24/7, some games, some BT transfers and some Wifi.
then again, I do know how to customize my SGS with black themes and various other settings to extend battery life...btw, no underclocking or undervolting..
no way you're gonna get the same level of polish and the same experience on Eclair..
just my 2 cents...
cheers!

I would have to also tell you, yea there is...
Just because there are people like yourself who extremly are satisfied with it and consider it a top rom, doesn't mean everyone see it in the same light.
I stuck with MIUI with every version from 3 to the latest 5.3, it was my first ever custom rom, and as much as I wanted to like it I finnaly decided to give up on it for the foreseeable future. Even for someone who tried to like it was biased toward it it is more a gimmick rom for entertainment, than proper sgs rom you'd consider serious. Even tried to get my friends on it while I was on it, everyone hated it.
In my opinion it has great potential, but its still in its infancy. It is way to rough and misguided to be a good solid rom. Even going to a base 2.2 rom just rooted and lagfixed beats MIUI in almost every aspect. I finnaly don't feel like breaking my phone again. Almost every aspect of MIUI is different, which is where the appeal comes from, but somehow the difference is rarely for the better and it manages never to be as good even an original rom in terms of usability. At the moment I would consider it the poorest choice out of the the popular roms.
Since you will probably ask, the biggest downfalls off the top of my head I had with MIUI is unrelenting and completely unsolvable battery drain issues. This alone makes the rom not worth taking seriously. Calendar, the way you set your alarm, messaging, contacts etc, having to press double or more buttons to get to particular areas the stock phone does in 1, little things like that.
Laggy menus is another one.
I dont even want to get into how bad this rom is with the camera. Horrendeus software, menus etc, recording upside down, and on top of that it completely incapacitated the video recording of the phone. VErsion 5.3 and the videos still record at 3fps and the frames jump back and forward every 2 seconds as well...
heres miui on a good day for you.

Adding an extra option isn't that difficult. Getting that extra option to do what it's supposed to do is the tricky bit!!! )
If Galnet has managed to work out how to implement this feature I'm sure he's more than capable of adding an option to the settings menu but having said that I'm more than happy to help out if needed..

Introducing Magnolia for the Incredible 2. This is a mostly Sense 2.1 Gingerbread ROM with a few 3.0 elements added. It has many customizations and features to make you phone visually appealing and convenient to use. I sincerely hope you enjoy the ROM!
Features
Based on the Official 3.02.605.1 OTA;
Uses jcase's OC kernel;
Added Sense 3.0 lockscreen, USB connection menu, and camera (thanks to newtoroot for his ROMs, whose ROMs I pulled apart to learn how to get these to work);
Matte sense skin ("Magnolia" in skin picker), most of the "shiny" elements of sense UI have been matted for a more refined look;
Modded Friendstream, News and Twitter widgets to replace the (imho) hideous stock ones;
All apps Rosie button opens Maxim's AppFolders, a truly customizable and usable app drawer replacement (stock app drawer version available at bottom of post. Just backup and flash the zip. It's nothing fancy now, but I will make it pretty & depaginated soon);
Extra settings enabled in Quick Settings menu;
Right button mapped to browser (more mappings to come);
4-in-1 power menu;
Location and ADB statusbar icons hidden;
Percentage battery mod by chrisDDD;
Recent apps bar hidden and notifications pull down themed to fit Magnolia skin look;
Custom dialer
Speed and stability tweaks for smooth, snappy and stable performance;
Most apps commonly considered bloatware removed, with some handy apps added (e.g., Netflix, Google Voice, Astro, XDA, ROM Manager);
Removed HTC Car Panel and added Google CarHome;
Mor I am sure I forgot and much more to come...
Known Issues
The kernel defaults to 1.6 ghz, if you experience lockups, please use a CPU control app to turn the speed down. The next release will default to 1ghz.
Some elements still need to be themed.
Installation Instructions
ATTENTION: This ROM has been tested by me and others, but, like all custom ROMs, it mat have bugs or other issues I do not know about. Accordingly, you flash the ROM at your own risk, and I accept NO responsibility for any consequences that may arise for you, your phone or others as a result of flashing and/or using this ROM.
MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP of your current ROM;
Download Magnolia here: http://bit.ly/ncZeck
Do a full wipe (factory data reset and format cache). If you do not perform a full wipe, you may experience bugs/issues, please do not post them;
Flash via ROM Manager or CWM Recovery;
Reboot and let it load up;
Go to menu-->personalize-->skins and select "Magnolia" skin and apply;
Enjoy!!!
While this ROM runs fine without a CPU manager, you need one to overclock. I use SetCPU at 1.267/245.
Leave feedback if you encounter bugs, things that can be improved.
Thanks & Credits
rmk for his stock ROM;
jcase for the kernel;
chrisDDD for the battery icons;
Maxim for his wonderful AppFolders program;
newtoroot for his ROMs, which I pulled apart to learn how to integrate the Sense 3.0 elements;
Adyenalyn for his ROM, which I pulled apart to figure out how to setup the extra Quick Settings;
If I forgot anyone, it was unintentional, and a PM will see the situation remedied...
Hope you enjoy the ROM!
Steve

Everything synced up instantly...nice mesh of both worlds.
i will edit this if i find any issues.
EDIT- So i am going to stick with this rom for a bit...see if i can find anything but for now...

Runs a little high on the RAM in comparison to some others out there.

[MOD] CirclesMod for Galaxy Nexus

So of course I had to get a Galaxy Nexus. After having stared at its unimaginative statusbar icons for a few days, I felt there was a certain, circular aspect missing from its UI, so I took a deep breath and fired up Photoshop. I've kept the style similar to my previous versions of CirclesMod, but the icons are completely redrawn to make use of the Nexus' higher display resolution, and also incorporating some of my ideas from the Galaxy Tab 10.1.
Looks like this ...

The most convenient way to get the Mod is via the Play Store, if you're running CyanogenMod 9, AOKP, Gummy or another ROM that incorporates the CM9 Theme Engine... I'm in the process of converting my themes to this format.
http://c0.dk/cmicsblue
My website holds all other versions, and I encourage you to bookmark this link, if you want to keep track of my Galaxy Nexus downloads
http://circlesmod.dk...?s=dl&vl=gnexus
Disclaimer zero: I'm pre-supposing that you already know what to do with flashable zips, and that you accept responsibility for your own actions. Use your head, keep your device backed up and so on and so forth
Disclaimer one: You're welcome to modify or repurpose my work as long as it's not generating income and I'm credited with a link to either http://circlesmod.dk or this thread.
Disclaimer two: As for updates and versions, I'm not gonna do massive change logs and follow seven forums to cover the "market". I can't and won't spend all my waking hours building for any and every half-hourly KANG out there, so I'm inclined to pick one or two major ROMs and support that... I'm inclined to spend most of my time maintaining my Play Store theme(s) as it allows me to hit the greatest amount of devices with the least amount of effort...
Disclaimer three: I have the European GSM variant, also known as Maguro. Assume that my builds are for the GSM version. When in doubt, ask.
This looks awesome. I am too nervous to try it on Android Revolution HD 2.1.0 but if anyone else gets it working let me know!

Just installed this on Madaco's IR6. Also I'm using BRD Launcher 2.0 which is optimised for 240 DPI and it works great. One thing i have noticed is that when charging the yellow lightning bolt flashes twice displaying the percentage in-between very second. (Not sure if thats a feature or a bug) just thought i'd mention.
Is there any chance we could get a modded airplane symbol to?

Tried apktool yesterday, but had lots of troubles.
Wouldn't mind using it on 74K

Oh, I won't Since there isn't a stock Samsung or stock Sense ROM for the Nexus lines, people will tend to gravitate towards something like CM9, which suits me juuuust fine

Yeah, that was just part of the particular framework I baked for myself at modaco.com. Somehow I didn't think I'd like having my main action buttons jump around on me
As for AndroidRevolution, I'm a little bit intimidated by ROMs that want to completely reformat my device. I like having an easy exit strategy...having said that, people seem to be very content with that ROM.

Sure, although creatively there isn't much to do with that except slap an airplane over a circle
As for the charging flashing pattern, you're right - the xml is a leftover from one of my galaxy tab themes, where the lightning bolt would flash over the numbers like this...
That effect doesn't really work with the ICS overlay, it's just that one little thing I forget to change every time I build

Hey
I'm using APK Multi-Tool, specifically the nightly builds downloaded from GitHub. Works straight out of the box, just remember to register framework-res.apk, even though most of the magic is in SystemUI.apk.

I would be thoroughly surprised.
I tried with 4.0.3, booted but SystemUI FC, so it doesn't work.....

Hey
I'm using APK Multi-Tool, specifically the nightly builds downloaded from GitHub. Works straight out of the box, just remember to register framework-res.apk, even though most of the magic is in SystemUI.apk.

Thanks Hooolm, I will give it a shot tomorrow (today technically) at work
Found out about having to register framework-res the hard way.
If I get it working, are you cool with me using your pics for bigxie's 4.0.3? It's your work, so your call you could put it in your op if you like. This is *if* my brain doesn't fail me

Yeah sure
My base attitude there is, people are welcome to modify or repurpose my work as long as it's non-commercial and I'm credited with a link to either http://circlesmod.dk or this thread.

PER-APP-DPI/LAYOUT This is not tablet mode! Hybrid engine allows you to target apps individually. You get to pick their actual layouts which can tranform content drastically. Keep in mind, this has nothing to do with build.prop hacks or DPI changes. We list all layouts an app brings, you choose one, its as easy as that. It does not matter if your device runs itself in Phone-, Phablet or Tablet-UI, your apps will always look as you like. On top of that you can scale apps, to fit your screen, that way you can even bring full fledged tablet apps and make them run perfectly. Nothing will break, nothing will shrink, your market will be fine. Additionally we have rewritten many parts of the android framework and fixed countless of AOSP bugs to make way for these modifications - our "tablet mode" runs better on a phone than on a real tablet, that is guaranteed.
PER-APP-COLOR Paranoidandroids newest invention. Define apps in your regular hybrid panel. See your phone fade into the color definition of your current app, press home or go elsewhere and it fades back. Create as many combinations you like, you can even dabble with opacity. This feature is made possible by our hybrid engine, which is unique to this rom.
To be honest, this is not tablet mode at all, it has nothing to do with silly build.prop hacks. This is the first and only Android rom to feature true Hybrid mode. This rom lets you scale and project every app, every widget, even systemcomponents individually. Remember, android is modular, everything is an app: Lockscreen, navigationbar, dialogs, popups, keyboards, widgets, and your regular apps of course. Apps have the capability to switch into various designs or layouts according to the device they run on. This can result in a complete new experience as many apps will transform to the better.
Now for every element that you like chose a mode (PhoneUI, Phablet/Nexus-7UI, TabletUI) and/or a size. You are 100% independent of the system DPI which runs nicely in whatever value it has been assigned to. You do not need to boot your phone into a certain DPI. Neither will most of the changes you apply require a reboot. You will not suffer from the myriads of troubles which normally haunt you under build.prop tablet mode. Your market, phone, etc. will all work, apps won't shrink on you unless you shrink them yourself. This project will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the feel of your phone.

If you have an issue and you want to call our attention, here's what you do:
1. Try everything you can, find solutions for yourself. Wipe caches, revert all your settings you have made, go back to your stock Kernel, factory reset if you have to or reflash the rom. Assume that the issue is on your side and try your best to isolate it.
2. Search this thread and Cyanogenmods aswell (its our base) for possible reoccurences of your issue and hopefully solutions that may have come up.
3. If you think the issue is important enough that we should cease our work and look into it, post your issue, BUT ...
... stay friendly, do not demand anything, do not threaten
... explain your issue as precise as you can, name the exact apps and conditions that cause trouble, help us to replicate the issue right away. If we can't there's no way we can fix it and your post will simply clutter the thread
... collect evidence, keep in mind this is a developer thread so even if you are not one, do us the favor and research how to record logcat. logcat is the single most important help you can give us to resolve your issue.

Thanks for the rom but shouldn't this be in the original android development? I thought android development was for rooms like touch wiz and sense etc. And original was for aosp stuff?
Also you should try and port miui slick Rick that would be awesome

Which KitKat 4.4.x ROM have you used on an SPH-D710 and would recommend?

A few years ago this seemed to be limited to either Cyanogen or a couple other ROMS, I had performance issues with CM9 and used a custom ROM instead. Now it seems like everyone has their own flavor and builds. I'm currently on a 4.1.2 ROM, I think it was SlimBean.
I'm just looking for a close-to-stock 4.4 ROM for Sprint Epic 4g Touch, that is stable and works. Does anyone have a ROM you have tried and would recommend?
I'm leaning towards Mookie or CM11
Thanks and sorry for the noob post.
Its not kitkat, but have you checked out Project X ? I am running KitKat on my nexus tab. Though have solid custom rom options that am bouncing between , really wish I could install Project X .

I had not, but I did some googling and it looks pretty nice. I may download it and give it a try.
I already installed CM11 VILLUMINATI. It was a bit tricky, but after following the steps at the bottom of page 77 of that thread, I got it running and it seems fine so far. CM always takes some time for me to get used to, so I'll run it for a few days and see how it goes.
Hope it goes well. Must say, battery life is crazy good and the highly customize-able launcher (can save settings and implement when flashing updates et cetera) @bilgerryan created are awesome - like borderline time for a tattoo time awesome. Not to mention the folks in the forum are cool - good people. Anyway, good luck with everything.

Thanks! So far, I only have a few issues with the build. I can't figure out how to get rid of the Google search bar at the top and I can't figure out how to scale the number of columns/rows on the desktops. Other than that, the lack of 4G is hardly noticeable, even here in Silicon Valley. Can't get Kies to restore my data via USB, going to try WiFi connection tonight.

From my experience, you can't do anything with kies unless you have the version of android that's originally on the phone. So it's either Kitkat or 4.1.2, bloatware, and kies. I think we both know who the clear winner is here! I've also been using the VILLUMINATI ROM and I've had exceptional battery life and fast response from my phone at the same time. As for the Google search bar at the top, I think that is permanent unless you download one of those custom theme app thingies (can't remember what they're called), but doing that kinda defeats the purpose of having Kitkat for me, as I absolutely love the new white theme with everything. I've also noticed that from using those theme apps before that they tend to drain battery fast.
EDIT: As for 'what rom I would reccomend' it would have to be VILLUMINATI, even though it's the only one I've used so far. It works, and it's good. I'll be using this rom until there is a better update somewhere, or if I find a game breaker somewhere.

You know there are custom TouchWiz ROMs out there don't you? With tons of extra features and no bloatware. I say try my Project X and see if you still go with the bug-filled AOSP ROMs with quiet mic volume and speaker volume. BTW Kies is useless, try using Titanium Backup or ROM Toolbox next time.

Here are my two cents. Personally, I like VILLUMINATTI better than Mokee, mainly because Mokee has a weird thing it does when scrolling lists. It makes the lower list items really small, and expands them to full size as you scroll down a list. Cool looking once or twice, but not something I can handle on a daily basis. They are both extremely fast and smooth ROMS, and they use very little RAM, like 30% less! Just make sure to get the best ICS modem for your area (mine was FE22), update the GPS config file using FasterFix, and load in Textra so you can activate MMS easily. Of course, you'll loose 4G and dock connectivity with either ROM.
However, I can't use the 4.4 ROMS right now because they both have the same two bugs. Firstly, the Orientation Sensor doesn't respond correctly. Secondly, they don't communicate well with Google Glass (no phone calls). So I went back to Touched By an S4 ROM, which is a TW based 4.1.2 ROM that performs really well "out of the box".
Once those two bugs are fixed I'm definitely switching back to VILLUMINATTI CM11 because it unleashes this phones true capabilities.
Given the above offerings, coupled with the fact that only the individual user can make their own determination as to what is most stable for their device, going to close this.
XDA is not a support site as it relates to asking what is most stable, best etc, for roms and or kernels. This is because threads like these become places of arguments and trolling commentary.
All users are expected and encouraged to do their own research and review of development threads to arrive to the answer they need.
