hey all, just got my third HOX as all my others had the usual 'faults'... i noticed this one was perfect, not even the screen flex.. the other thing i noticed was the plastic that comes on the screen on my first two devices said "The one you've been waiting for", where as this new one just says "HTC One X". could this be a new faultless revision?
Can anybody confirm this?
Never had any problems with mine. No flicker or whatever. Never exchange I had reboots when I was on 1.19 software now that I'm on 1.28 perfect

reboots are software related, and can be easily be fixed. your very lucky to have gotten a faultless phone
Serial
Which series of serial numbers does this set belong to? Is this from the new HT25?
I just got a One X (white) and it came with the "HTC ONE X" sticker on the screen. I had expected it be "I'm the One you've been waiting for".
My device seems perfect so far and it came installed with the 1.28 FW
I'm fed up with HTC and this phone. My early HT23 came with an outdated protective sticker. That's BS. For the amount I paid I should have the latest sticker. It's an outrage that they'd change the sticker so soon after the phone's been introduced. All my Samsung phones had a sticker that stayed the same for the entire time I owned the phone. I’m never going to buy another HTC product. Add me to the “getting a SGS3” list. I think I’ll start a petition on HTC’s Facebook page.
P.S. - I don't care that mine phone doesn't have any problems, this is still an issue.

Relax he's joking.....don't catch the sarcasm??
What he's trying to say is a sticker don't mean **** lol....just because the sticker is different doesn't mean they changed anything. Theres always a newer manufactured model. It's in the serial number. Mine was made march. Yours might be made in April etc etc....

I was absolutely being sarcastic. But you have to admit my attempt at humor looks awfully similar to a lot of what people post for real.
Here's my take on the sticker. If HTC made some physical changes to the phone and wanted to differentiate them somehow, why would they use something that's immediately pulled off the phone before it's used? If that was their goal, they’d make a change to the serial number sequencing. And unless they planned to throw away all the phones with the old sticker and not ship them, why would differentiating them before shipping matter? I guess they could be sending "bad" phones with old stickers to resellers they don't like. As Freud said, "sometimes a cigar is just a cigar."
There have been "good" phones since the first batches that were released. I'd imagine the more that are assembled the tighter the tolerances will get so later phones should have less QC issues. That happens with anything that’s mass produced. But the first retail unit shipped was probably the 25,000th phone built with early test production units discarded. So it's not like they just fired up the old assembly line, took what got spit out, and packed it up for shipping.
My phone is from the old revision and it doesn't flex, flicker or lose WiFi, only had sone minor artifacts.
I want a full fledged havok phone that doesn't work!
What is your batch number ? HT25 ?
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Could be...
fknshwow,
This is most likely a SH/HT 25 batch. If the sticker states differently than the previous, than probability of 25s are high. This looks promising...
Again... I had all the screen issues mentioned, not since the last 2 OTAs.. As said before, they were software related not hardware related
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
well if the sticker is changed and like death_machine said it comes with 1.28 out of box it might be a newer revision, why not
can the OP and death_mashine tell us the first five letters/digits of your serial?
do you have screen ripple on outer screen edges pressure?
maybe HTC got superstitious from all return and changed the sticker lol
Does this mean my sticker is now a collectors item?
I'll want $100 for it.

well who knows... they did that with the transformer prime.... they made the stupid thing out of aluminium thus the gps doesnt work at all and wifi strength is dramatically reduced... asus didnt test it, they just shipped them... and when people started complaining that the gps was fk'ed all asus did was remove gps from the official specifications on their website, and made a new revision a few weeks later. i believe the new one is either a TF300 or TF700 or both

not 100% sure on the number, i took the phone back.. came across a new fault that i havent seen before... got like a huge white spot at the bottom of the screen... i thought it was a bunch of dead pixels behind the screen but now im think it might be something else.
so i take that back... its ALMOST faultless... but i duno guys, to me it looked like a new revision, the general build felt more solid.
and no idea if the sticker means anything.. but im just saying the latest batches arnt coming with the original sticker so i assume they are changing things with the phone

I'm glad I didn't buy mine online! Well, I ordered online, but picked up in-store.
First one, white. Awesome! Except a small smudgy area of light on the screen, only visible on dark-ish to black backgrounds. Screen fault
I went back into Carphone Warehouse, and they had one white One X left. Yay!
Checked the screen before I left, and it had a dead pixel.
Decided to look at the grey version, and it didn't look awful, so I went for that.
Dead pixel
And another grey one with a dead pixel!
I ended up walking out of the shop with the fifth phone I tried that day - the fourth grey version. That was the first one without any screen issues. They only had two One Xs left in the shop after that. They seemed as pissed off with me at the quality control.
I'm loving the phone - I think it's fantastic - but make sure you spend 20seconds checking the screen if you buy it in-store. Might just save you a lot of hassle.

Haha same, the dark burn-like marks on some S2s (like mine ; I read that its actually the adhesive they use).
But thanks op, I was going to get mine online but CPW it is... nothing like annoying them right

Ha! I think if they see me walk into the store again they'll probably run away.
They were great about it though - I knew some manufacturers have a certain threshold when it comes to returns and dead pixels, but I said, "if it was a £60 phone, I wouldn't be too bothered, but for £500 I want all pixels present & correct!"
No-one tried to argue that it was a minor issue, so fair play to the CPW chaps. For me, dead pixels are maddeningly annoying - once you've seen one you can't un-see it. Just thought I'd post a heads-up in case people were buying in a shop and not checking the screen first.
I won't be able to get the amount of cash back on the deal I want if I go into a store.. which pretty much means no quality control for me. I have always done it, with my HD2, Desire and my SGS. Got to do it though! There's nothing worse than watching a film, gets to a dark scene and theres some red dot sitting there staring at you Especially if your One X is going to be your precious for the next few years
First one i got had a dead camera now i have a white one everything is fine.

I got mine a few days ago and lo and behold I have a dead pixel in the top left hand corner of the screen.
I have tried all the pixel fixing Apps to no avail.
Contacted Handtec and now am awaiting their reply. Fingers crossed I get a replacement quickly as I have now given my old desire away.
Rob
I will buy mine in a Swisscom shop (I already have a contract but I'm able to choose my phone "later" to get a discount). I ask myself if they will be as understanding as other shops. I mean - they already got the contract signed, they couldn't care less if the phone was bad or not - they don't make that much money anyway as I will get it for around 250-300CHF. I will wait for some more weeks I think and probably also ask them if I can test it directly in the store and whether they would replace it or not and probably also explain why I am that cautious (many reports of faulty devices on the interwebz). Let's hope for the best!

Well, buying off the Internet has its advantages too, thanks to the Distance Selling Regulations, with regards to the Cooling Off Period. It states that if you haven't met the seller face to face, and you're not happy with the goods, you have the right to change your mind within 7 days of receiving it. Notify them in writing (email is good) and send it back. Know your rights people.
Just received mine today and one dead pixel, in the middle of the screen!
Phone up O2, they are sending a brand new phone to my local O2 store on Thursday, take my faulty one day old HTC One X to them tomorrow.
If this replacement has or develops a faulty screen I shall be taking it back, cancelling my contract and demanding a full refund for the upfront payment!
Cannot believe I have him mine last then 24 hours and a screen fault has occurred!
@BeciMester regarding this post with the cooling off period. (Cannot post links because of eight post rule)
If it goes over the 7 day period and the fault appears again, am I entitled to cancel my contract and receive the refund or will I be fully tied in then stuck in the loop if/when other replacements start acting up?
If that is the case then I may just cancel tomorrow and wait for the S3. I cannot be doing with a scenario like wilkomints has had/having, I would be on the verge of killing someone!

Been contemplating sending mine back due to the battery life but when I read things like this I realise it's best I wait it out for the OTA.

Unfortunately I don't have the luxury of just going into a shop because I bought online. :-(

Hi,
I am getting ready to buy a HOX as the S3 is not to my liking.
As we all know some of the first HOXes had build quality issues like yellowish screen spots, cracking of the outer shell and screen, and flickering.
I am wondering if HTC has successfully adressed those issues yet. Could new owners please report their build quality (please no early adopters anymore).
Please report any issues (also please report if you don't have any) and your device color (as it seems to indicate country of production).
Surely more ppl than just myself are curious to know if HTC has addressed the issues.
Thanks for your kindness in sharing your experiences.
All the best.

i love my one x and nth is wrong with it its just the battery. what pisses me off is that the S3 has the same dimension a bit different and same wight just 3g difference and they have a 2100 mAh battery, what would have happened if HTC did that God !!!! im sorry im just really pissed just saw this
please make sure other than that i love the phone it works great i have nth to say more than its 99% great just battery life and if i have to recomend someone to get a phone it is the HOX for lots of reasons !!!
my answer for u is go ahead and buy the HOX its a great phone !!!
chances of a fauly one?
The build quality issues are the only thing stopping me getting one too. They are about $100 cheaper to buy on ebay than in a store (buying outright) but would be a real pain to have to ship back and forth if it was faulty. What do you think the chances would be of getting a fauly one? or worth the extra money to be able to return it the same day ?

I've seen 3 different one x and they all had issues and my latest is from a newer batch and it have flickering, screen issues and a low lit back button. Most people that are happy with their handsets either are the kind that dont look for flaws or fanboys, as youve started this thread i guess youre not that kind. I think all phones have flickering in some degree but most people dont see it. The amount of faulty hoxes is way too frequent. You should listen to those who put their phones under a microscope if you want an objective opinion.

I dont know why people keep say things like "why can company A do this but company B can't?" It makes no sense at all. Just because Motorola can make an awesome battery or S3 has a bigger battery so HTC HAS TO be able to do the same thing. Well, apparently they cant. Their technology doesnt allow them to do that, and it's ok. No need to get worked up about it. If their stuff doesn't live up to your expectations then feel free to not buy them. It's YOUR money, YOUR phone, YOUR decision.

SO now the dozens of people who have faulty handsets on XDA (look at the poll) represent the market?

I got two HT243 phones one after the other, the first on the 17th of April, had a yellow band on the top left of the screen, a small gap on the left with the associated creacks and flex and the deal killer, Wi-Fi connectivity issues.
After 4 days, gave up and had it exchanged - the next was and still is perfect. Ten days after I got it, I unlocked it and am now experimenting with custom Roms.
This is my 5th HTC handset in as many years, all lived and worked in perfect state untill they got sold. I am confident my HOX will live up to the expectations.
The only drawback I really find is the battery, indeed, as this is a device that craves to be used, it's unexplainable, but I feel I cannot let it down. Bear in mind it's my fourth week with it already. Htc should have given us the option for a replaceable power pack.
So I suggest you get your unit from a retail store, so that you can examine the device beforehand, at least for the physical defects described on this forum.
.... Or make sure you have a later model HT245... HT25...

Those issues would bug me more tbh than the screen flicker which I currently experience but holding hope that 1.30 will resolve it. Try again and hope that the next handset is the holy grail.
Return it again until you get a good one mate. At the end of the day you are on a phone that you will be using at least a minimum for a year..so i say take it back

Personally I'd just return, the One X is an Amazing Handset, and you shouldn't have to live with a defective unit, i'm not sure why you're so unlucky to get 6 of them, but better to persist than give up and then not be able to return later.

I often cant help to think that people only find (some of the minor) issues with handsets once they have been on the forums and then go to look for them.
I wonder if I passed what i think to be a defect free handset to someone that has had more than 6 or 7 replacements that they would find defect that I dont see?
Just a thought….
Steve
No offence, but, return it and move on to a different handset... It is insane for anyone to buy/return/exchange 6-7 times for a product. Clearly the product doesn't work for you. If I have to exchange a product more than once, I'm done with that product..

That's the thing, I could, but to me there just isn't any competition to it, 100% working it wipes the floor with anything else (i hate Samsung's touchwiz and everything else they do with it like the stock browser has no desktop mode at least on sgs2, desktop mode is necessary for me) if there was a nexus with the same specs I wouldnt mind that, but then again I'm hooked on sense there's so many little features that I take for granted now and when I use another phone, it just doesn't feel right. And that's why I have to keep swapping, once I find the perfect one (which should have been the first one dammit) I will be a happy bunny
Edit: damn sense, any other product would have absolute maximum 2 tries then it would be off to another brand

I've almost driven myself mad trying to decide whether to return my HOX due to the flicker at low brightness. The problem is that for me it's a bit of a PITA to find the time to return to the shop, and the other thing is that both of the HOXs that colleagues of mine own, which came from different shops entirely, also exhibit exactly the same issue. So considering my phone is otherwise a very good example without any of the other issues I've heard about, I've decided to stick with it and see what the 1.30 update does.
This issue definitely isn't bothering me just because it's mentioned on this forum; I discovered the discussions on here after noticing the flicker myself.
I'd return it and get a replacement.
i really wanted to get this phone and now with all these issues with screen problems, storage space corruption etc. is seriously putting me off, i mean what the heck is this, it's meant to be their flagship device
Fcukin chill out, mine is fine what u complainging about, u havnt even got one so why complain

Because I was going to get one today and now I'm not, it's a lovely device yet they can't get it right, you think I want to risk purchasing a handset that has flickers, screen issues, missing storage? Don't you realise that I actually USE my phone for pretty much everything from work, to uni, to my life?? AND I NEED IT TO WORK GOD DAMN IT NONE OF THIS BS
Boo hoo.
Try having one with issues before you complain. There are plenty of people with perfectly working ones, just a big majority on here that got them in the first week or so have early problems. Such as my self.
Most things aside from the screen flicker can be resolved.

Get one , you will get one like me a faultless one . No worries. Newer batch phone has no errors and btw prefer Taiwan made and serial ht24 or greater batch.

Lol, I hope he doesn't get one,... then maybe he will piss off from the HOX forum.
Creating bashing posts like this and the clown doesn't even have the device, nor has he even used it.

Waiting for threads like this to pop up when the S3 is released
I'm inclined to agree with the title, while I dislike the phone for other reasons HTC have annoyed me hugely with the whole "we've listened to the customers and unlocked the bootloader" lie.
The handset itself has been fine, no flex or screen problems and it takes a good picture. I suspect it will scratch the camera lens in regular use though (as did my Desire) but that's not the killer. While some people may find the built in memory and sealed battery to be fine, I don't.
It's being returned after six days of use/learning the foibles of the phone and I'll go back to my old handset for the time being. This isn't aimed at bashing the One X for all those who are about to jump on me for posting an opinion, just pointing out that there are those of us who have tried it and found it wanting. What will I look at next? Dunno and this isn't really the place to speculate. Quite sad about it really as the HOX has already attracted a decent developer base, there's quite an impressive who's who of developers from the Desire ROM sub forums around.
I have had mine for at least a month and have yet to have any problem that you described above. Go get one and see for yourself. Its definitely a great device, probably best I've ever had and thats hard for me to say considering I usually prefer Samsung. HTC did an excellent job with this phone.
Now is a good time to get one. Just got mine from Phones4U free on a 12mo contract at £36 a month

It's a phone, not a life-saving drug. If you don't want to even try it, just buy something else.
Don't feed the troll. He's just being a ****.

Yeah I'm being a ****? have you noticed the forums full of posts with htc one x faults? are you blind? ok you might have a good one, but a considerable amount of users are having serious issues,
ok, I guess you have a bigger **** than me since you call me a clown and state I'm being a ****, nice one,
I'm glad someone agrees with me in the fact that there are flawed models out there with no way to guarantee which model I will get,
What the arseholes who have replied to this post negatively are basically saying is I should get the phone then ***** about whatever flaws it has (if it has any),
How about all HTC ONE X models should be flawless rather than me worrying about whether I get a faulty model or not
I've never used one? are you ****ing serious, You think I would have made my mind on purchasing a phone without using it, now whos the clown making assumptions here,
I'm not saying I will get a faulty model but the fact is there are faulty models out there,
who the **** wants a phone with flickering screens, flex display, missing storage, etc.?? not me for a start
if you want to swear, I'm letting you know I can swear too
No problei here despite reading the stories on here before. I experienced the issues that the large HTC windows mobile had, can't remember its name now. Had no problems with desire and desire hd or sensation. Got mine off eBay for 350 including the beats headphones new, bargain in my opinion. A work of art this phone. Light as a feather.
The only thing that's noticeable is the off white screen colour, I cant tell if its a yellow tint or blue tint really. Should be fixed with software upgrades? Fingers crossed!

as much as i disagree with the way you are handling the whole issue here specially with your language i also have to agree with you with the whole HTC thing though. if i knew what kinda faults the phone had from the start i would of gone for the Nexus. But as time goes and after 3 replacements i still kinda have a phone with a very thin gap...not noticeable but still you know it is there and a tad creak if you press hard on the left hand side of the phone..but still i will keep this as everything else is functional and the phone is a beast...with a nice case i bought and the pouch i have a great phone....it is down to you what you want to do but i would advice to handle your frustrations in a better manner good luck with what you choose
Im pissed off cos ive not really got any problems to report and feel as if ive been left out the party!!
Dam you HTC, why did you make my device fault free?
;-)
Well I admit maybe I shouldn't have freaked out, I've been eagerly awaiting this phone and then whilst checking these forums to ensure no major issues, I find there are a ton of issues, I mean wtf??
I'm not going to risk buying a phone unless I know there's a chance it will be a good working model.
Anyway sorry to have started this thread on a bad note and sorry for swearing, I can man up and admit I was wrong initially

That is not entirely true. My last one was a ht242 and had this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elLrWWFVNOM
You do realize anytime you have a lot of phone enthusiasts buying the same phone in an area such as a phone forum you are more likely to see more incidents of problems arise?

Simple question because i'm fed up waiting. Is the HTC One X fixed yet? Carphone wearhouse have recalled the phone and are not selling it anymore, and apparently more retailers will follow. HTC cant admit they made a mistake and the hardware is broken. I'm not willing to get the galaxy s3 because that has many faults too, and i want an htc phone. I also cant think of a compromise to any of these phones though.
So, is it fixed? Any official statement? Thanks in advance. Im in bed ill so i'll be slow with replys lol.
DM
blooming rumors tbh,
look at the cpw website and you will clearly see they are still available.
mine is a release day version and ive had no problems, until cpw make a statement or someone gets a recall notice i would take it with a pinch of salt, probo samsung marketing department again lol.
go instore tell the assistants there your worries and ask to check the phone there and then before you get it...nothing wrong with the latest batches now and much better to get this phone instead of the s3 mate
I got mine from CPW and it wasn't recalled - it's been perfect
I asked in two different stores CPW on the phone, and unfortunately only had batches from April. Still I'm waiting until I buy this phone
I'm still very sceptical about the One X. I don't want to blow near £500 on a glitchy, faulty device. Any more updates? Sounds like it's STILL having problems. It's a disaster phone.

I agree, my advice, get it IF you can return it without a hassle just in case. It is a great phone (best screen ever, way better than iphone 4s screen).
However, I had wifi problems and a cracked screen due to a high noise, lots of scratches on the screen which I've never had on my previous gorilla glass phones.

Haha, no lol. Yeah, I agree, it's the best phone you can get right now, when it's not riddled with problems that make it unusable. I loved it when I had it. That's why I'm finding it hard to get a replacement.

If I buy it again soon, I'll probably get it out of a store, and not online because sending it back is a hassle, and too time consuming. And it usually costs me for P&P (which is usually refunded, but a pain).
Decided after a lot of thought that I'd prefer the Galaxy S3. It seems to have better audio and other features I prefer over the HTC One X. I think the HTC One X is both a pinnacle and nadir.
Well played, well played, indeed
