T mobile note 2 problems please please please help

I Just traded a buddy a note 2 for my galaxy s3 plus 200 buck and he gave me the phone and at first i thought everything was great but he had been using the phone on att unlocked and paid to have it unlocked so when I put my sim in the phone it didnt read 3g or 4g for tmobile so I went home and rooted the phone and flashed a custom rom and still really really bad data connection .. If I drive in the middle of town my phone gets maybe 1 bar of 3g or 4g and cuts out so went to tmobile store and they called tech support and they said the phone was unlocked and there was a hardware or software problem with the phone so I have no clue were to check .. I have insurance but because the phone is so new insurance wont cover it because its a hardware or software problem so if you have any way to fix this please please please help thanks..
P.S I have tried loading custom recovery , rom and kernel and nothing still data problems . If I search for network it comes up with att and some numbers 311660 under available networks so there is no tmobile to chose from so is the phone done ??

Im not 100% positive but I think you are SOL. I was reading threads about this recently and people were having similar issues. From what I read there was nothing that could be done. I'm sure someone smarter than me will know.

Ok so phone gets data and works but is not strong and im thinking when the guy unlocked it for att he messed with something ?

The guy who unlocked it in the first place probably used the same method, you could always try to redo it, other than that I would dial *#0011# while data is connected and see what band your on and what mcc mnc (or whatever it is on the 2nd line)... some people have report issues based on certain connections

Where can I find that second band or whatever it is?

Yea its weird phone will work and get 4g but it wont stay long so im going to play when I get home. Worst case all smash it and have insurance fix it asap but thanks for the help guys.

Looks like your note2 is fir tmobile and yiur buddy unlock this to use for att. Did you try changing the apn. Make sure its the tmo apn.

Open a webpage, while its loading, open dialer and type *#0011#...
There it will show your current settings

Using the i317 on another carrier: 3G problems! help!

Bought a new i317 and unlocked it now I'm using it for another carrier: Telcel
I do get 3G the only problem is that it loses the signal every once in awhile, sometimes it goes for 2 hours without it.
Everytime I notice that it isnt getting a 3g connection (because I want to use it for checking email and web browsing) I turn off/on mobile data and it registers again and no probs until a few hours pass by and then i dont have 3g anymore
The 3g icon never really stops appearing I just cant get mobile data service.
Did I make the mistake of buying an i317 over the n7100 (which is the one my carrier sells and uses) ?

I'm getting mobile data, my problem is that it doesn't seem to be consistent :/
could that still be corrected through APN settings though?

Are you still on the original AT&T modem? Or what modem are you on J2, K7, or MA4. That might b an issue also. And don't try to flash a different carrier radio. I've read that that'll just give a world of trouble.. FYI

No problem. I just did my buddies TMO GN2, to work on AT&T. And someone posted that they tried that in the TMO thread and the phone kept restarting. Guess it doesn't play nice with each other?

no 4g after flashing a couple new roms?

i flashed cm10 and only got edge service, and i know i get 4g in my area. then i went to cm10.1 still with edge. i then went back to the stock rom and still on edge (stock had 4g before i flashed cm10) any ideas on how to fix it?

Dumb question but have you checked your network settings. If you backed up your stock rom restore it and see if you get 4g again

Just make sure you follow all THREE steps. People have a habit of completing one step of injecting the IMEI and thinking that's all you need to do.

Hmm ok check your apn its under mobile networks it should have tmobile with the box checked if not then that could be your problem. Worst case scenario if you know odin use it to flash back to stock

Trust me bro, you can. Just follow through slowly and you'll fine. To make life easier, go back to Touch Wiz and just take it line by line.
You were capable of rooting and flashing, you can pull this off.

Also lost 4G
After rooting and flashing Dev-3.22.1540.1-Stock-Rooted-DE-ODEX.zip ROM I lost 4G. The best I could manage is 3G. Now I flashed latest Viper ROM, but still no 4G.
Any idea why?
(I checked APN, it's something else).

I'm having the same issue. When I go back to my orginial rooted backed up CWM KK 4.4.2 3G works perfect. Flashed a new ROM APN, IME and even checked *#*#info#*#* all are good. I just can't get 3G.
Any ideas?

This is rom issues/kernel most likely try to Odin please check your provider as well
Some roms/kernels break the service you may use unfortunately

slow 4g

For the past few days my data has been real slow well when downloading it starts off at good speeds but after a few minutes it slows down big time and for it to go back to normal i have to switch off my data then on and repeat that process any ideas what it could be or how to fix it cled tmobile support they were no help thx

Well, how much data have you used? You could be getting throttled especially if you've used lots of data in short amount of time.

And you have the unlimited data plan i assume?

Yes im on the unlimited plan and not sure about the throttling would have thought the tmobile rep would have mentioned that if that was the case

T999UVLH2 is your baseband version. Then i would try flashing the T999UVDLJC baseband and test it out.

There is a new mdm5 baseband out. Im sure you cant search and find it here.

I flashed wicked v10 on my friends tmo s3, were getting slow speeds as well. Gonna try a different radio

I have the same problem in a certain part of Seattle where my hspa+ speed is around 4 - 10 kilobytes per second download..
Guess to many people using it

I don't think it's the rom itself. Try a different modem and report the findings. I'm on Wicked v10 in souther cali with latest modem and I'm getting great speeds. Can it be on tmobile end updating/refarming towers?

Yeah i dnt know wat is wrong with it its been a few days now and same thing when i run a speedtest i get geood speeds but as far as downloading anything it starts good then goes down to like 650b and downloads always fail thx for the help tho

Wow I was just trying to find out if others are having the same problem and Bam I see this. My download speeds start high then go slow. Hopefully it's the modem
I noticed it didn't start until I used the new T999UVDMD5

Do you get different results during different times of day? Could be network traffic. Or if they're doing work on any towers it could also cause problems like that.

Indeed tmobile is upgrading their hardware and adding towers now that their LTE is spreading to more cities. Also since the merger didn't go through with At&t they are upgrading to compete in general.

Call support to see if they are working on the network in your area.

Verizon N2 to TMO

I want to switch my carrier from verizon to TMO and im wondering if anyone here has done it or knows if the vzw n2 will work on TMO? If I set the network to GSM in settings and set the apns to t mobile will everything work ok or is my phone locked somehow by vzw? Thanks

Im reading up on this a bit and I have a feeling that my phone is locked as I am still under contract for my n2. If so would I be able to unlock it with something like in the pic below? Or better yet would I need to unlock it if it is locked to use it on TMO?

Here you go buddy. This is how you can get your note 2 work and it's free and easy. Couple things though you will only get edge data unless in a reframed area (don't really know how far that's progressed in the last 6 months) also tmo coverage sucks inside buildings so you'll want wifi calling if you spend a lot of time in brick buildings. You can try flashing a tmo ROM (without kernel and modem) to get it, but I don't think that works
