I have the files, and drivers installed, and i have no idea what i need to do with Odin at this point. Phones in DL mode and ready tho.

I think this is what you do. You flash the rogers/att stock ROM...put that in the pda spot in Odin. Then click start...let it work its magic and voila, you're back to stock. This should remove root, thirdparty kernels, etc.

[Q] Flash CM10 without activating triangle or incrementing ODIN counter

Hello,
I'm currently running FI03 rooted and am looking to install the cm10 alpha. I have not been able to find a clear answer whether the information for flashing it in the official thread, here, or in this other guide results in the triangle being activated or the ODIN counter incremented. Is it possible to flash cm10 without causing either of these events?
Thanks!
I dont think so, just use triangle away after you flash if it bugs you.

Check the sticky in this forum, maybe.
A lot of people like the toolkit. I'm still using zedomax's way most of the time
The sticky in question is in the android development section for this phone

the flash counter tells Samsung if you've been flashing custom software if you ever need warranty repair.
An app
Triangle away takes care of this

Is there really any reason to be afraid of this and to avoid it by all means? From what I can understand there is a way to reset the counter to 0 so it does not seem to be a threat, but again I cannot be sure.
Not really. Its mostly just personal preference at this point.
I still use the root66 fw though because I flash and experiment so often I wind up needing odin eventually. Figure if ive got to odin, I may as well use the pre-rooted fw.
Some say the toolkit is easier, but as long as you know the steps, it doesn't get much safer than flashing stock with odin. Not at all difficult either.

THANKS !! my problem was that the stock recovery was still showing up so i read your note at bottom and realize my issues as u can see with the # of posts i have im a noob in the Android dept used to be an iPhone user Again Thanks and for those who r having my issues the answer is REMOVE the AUTO REBOOT CHECK in odin

Do NOT use the QCOM Toolkit to Root the AT&T JB release!

If you try to root using the method in the toolkit it will screw up the phone and you will have to revert to stock using Odin. The phone will try to boot up but when it reaches the AT&T logo it will go black and the notification light will shine blue forever until you reboot.
If you did try to root using the QCOM Toolkit and you hit this snag use these links to revert back to stock/JB stock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2031840 ------ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426
I tried rooting the new JB release using qcom and when I try to do as you stated odin just hangs at setup connection. Any ideas how to get around this?

Same here on Bell. And I didn't even have to factory reset coming from Serenity 1.2
I was running aokp for last 7 months and wanted too return to stock to try stock att 4.1 jb update this is what I did .first I have to say that I used root66 and although it worked I was seeing a few little issues. My camera was very dark looking and colors seem to be washed looking and also sound was low. I didnt really notice it much but from what I could remember my phone when I first got it was fine. So what I did was downloaded official jb from the sammy site and. Again re wiped my phone again and flashed with Odin stock rom. And wow what a difference I had forgotten what iI was like to have everthing work perfectly on my phone ..dont no why people hate tw so much..I rooted this time my self. And decided to stay stock for a while till 4.2 get all the bugs worked out..in all stock is running awesome great batterylife super smooth never a fc at all super fast camera and so on..good job. If you want perfect stock is great..

New to the S3 seems different than the S2

Guys some help. I been searching around the proper filer to root this phone but some of the links are old and not working.
Somebody need to get all of these together and make it a sticky on the development section.
I guess to root this is like rooting my s2. Flash recovery with odin and then flash the SU. But cant find it.
I want the latest recovery for odin the latest su and I want the stock ICS and JB roms with odin in case I do something bad and I need to flash that to unroot. and get it stock.
Can somebody point me out this. And please somebody make those files sticky so future members like me and old member would have everything handy and easy to find.
another thing. Do we flash radios here? On my s2 we could flash any kind of tmobile radios for better performance and data. Witch are the radios?
Another thing that I noticed when this phone came out is the people were loosing the IMEI number on their device how was that posible and what they do so I wont go through it
go into the dev section
The files you want are stickied already
Yes you can flash radios

As far as I know backing up your efs does not preserve your imei you must set it in modem mode and write it to an app on your desktop. Easy as pie to do though and it's on the forum with a writeup

Thank you for your information. I have found several ways to root. 1 with odin like I used to do with the s2. and 2 with a odin stock rom and no tripping flash counter. Is that still an issue. Is there a way to reset the counter? I used to go back to stock all stock on my s2 and root several times before and that was never an issue! First time I see this about flash counter!.

Yeah tripping the flash counter is still an issue. basically it just keeps you from using all share an to watch movies from the media hub.
What I did when I fist got the phone was Odin root66 then downloaded goo and installed twrp via the app "not cwm"

Root

Is there a way to root the gs3 whit out connecting the phone to a computer ?
I can't freaking connect or have my phone to be read by my laptop ..
I'm going insane ... I'm running AT&T 4.3 but its laggy so I need to try a Rom
Some help please
I read all over the place about the gs3 issues whit the laptops .....

Not that I'm aware of. Do you have custom recovery now? I.e. twrp or cwm? If so you can download a pre rooted rom with the phone if not good luck avoiding the computer... is there a reason why you are unable to use your phone and laptop together? Perhaps we can devise a solution to help.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Do you have any warranty left? Rooting or installing non-official Samsung ROMs will trip the Knox counter, assuming stock AT&T 4.3.
Either you have a bad cord or USB port, or you need to install the Samsung USB drivers.
If you need root, you're not going to get around using a computer.

Theramsey's question of custom recovery is important.
There is a recovey flashable solution for our phones at http://www.epiccm.org/2012/06/team-epics-root-from-recovery.html?m=1
You can copy any files you need to a microSD card also to get them onto your phone.
---------- Post added at 02:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:14 PM ----------
But if you got 4.3 OTA & you do not want to lose warranty, be careful. Custom recovery might have already broken warranty.

WHAT??
I think that they are looking to root, and are not already rooted.
How is mobile odin going to be used to flash CF-Auto Root to root when the phone needs to already be rooted to use Mobile Odin? Mobile Odin is a rooted app.
And what good is putting the files on microsd when you still need a computer, in this case which will not connect, and odin to flash?
Those files in that zip are not for flashing from the microsd. One is the desktop Odin, one is the .tar file which you need the desktop Odin, and the other is the desktop configuration file for Odin.

It sounds like you have a bad USB port on your phone.
Thank you for catching my mistake about the CF-Auto..zip. It only delivers an Odin package. CF's instructions clarify it's use for fist time stock rooting, but that won't help with OP's problem.
I posted a recovery flash alternative in my correction Copying files to microSD via a built in PC card reader is a workaround for bad USB cables and PC usb ports that would apply here.
