I doubt the stock ROM supports Emoji.. it would display it as a box.

Get the emoji plug in from different SMS/MMS clients on the Play Store

I could actually see emojis in the stock messenger, and throughout the system by changing the fonts in the system files..... but they appear white and black, but through CM9s apk messenger they could be seen in color and I'll prefer that .
Edit: to JayRokk I prefer the stock ics look thats why im looking for this alternative I would rather not download alternatives like gosms or hand cent =\

I think the gnex dialer is beautiful but I hate how it does not have t9 predictive text for finding a contact very quickly. What alternate dialer does everybody recommend?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
Dialer One gives you this option and seems to work fine on ICS.
Check out exDialer - a MIUI style dialer; T9; supports themes (including a nice ICS theme). I had been using DialerOne for 2 years and recently made the move to exDialer with no regrets
I have tried dialer one in the past but just downloaded exdialer with the ics theme and love it, thanks!

+1 to this. I love it. it even has an ICS theme if you like the light blue color.
TouchPal Dialer is also nice.

Sick! Thanks. do I need notigo? Does the zip work in ics?

Notigo is nice so that it can clear the missed calls. The zip will no longer work with modern versions of CWM but you can still extract the apk from the zip and put it into /system/app yourself and reset the permissions for the same effect.
Can someone extract the main ics dialer's icon and replace the exdialer app icon with it? Then thankfully post the apk here?

I second this. the exdialer icon is so ugly
Found a solution, desktop Visualizer when you pick an icon select an app icon.

It's exactly what I just finished doing so it looks like I'm still using the stock dialer/contact apps. Couldn't be easier.
Typically I would use an Alt Launcher like Go Launcher, pin the exDialer to the bar, change the icon, then hide it in the main drawer.
Find attached exdialer v59 with main icon changed (the one from default phone app). Resigned. Please uninstall existing version on phone before installing or you will receive a certificate mismatch error.

Most ROMs have t9 dialing enabled in the stock phone app now. This was a big pet peeve of mine too, and one of the deciding factors to flash Gummy Nex. That, and the enabled AOSP tethering.
I'm using android Revolution that doesn't have t9 dialing plus others may prefer the Exdialer.

don't think you gonna get the "Samsung" one to install. sounds like maybe you on an aosp rom? "Samsung" app = touchwiz app. you need a touchwiz based rom. I suggest trying out gosms. its an amazing messaging app IMHO.
Or handcent. That is the one I have been using and I think it is perfect for me.

Sent from my EPIC TOUCH!
Question for those with gosms. Can it show text and the thread similar to the touchwiz messaging app in landscape? Really love that feature and it's something that Hand cent (which I've always been a fan of) lacks.
Thanks
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
Edit: Just downloaded GoSMS and found it does not have the landscape functionality of the Touchwiz messaging app. Kind of surprised neither GoSms nor Handcent have done these with 4.6"+ screen sizes becoming the norm and ample screen real-estate allowing for such functionality.

An inverted app has a dark background and light text instead of having a light background and dark text.

ooh ok, cool
Im currently on the Andromadus Audacity Beta 3 and love the rom so far, but the MMS apk included kinda sticks out. Is there a way to change the colors of the app so I can get a black background and blue or white text to match the ICS style theme, or is there another apk I can flash to replace the one that came built in with the rom?
Found all over google play

I didnt want an add on app though like go sms or handcent. I like the stock one just not the look of it.
Go SMS is your best bet. It has plenty of themes to suit your needs. It even has quick reply, quick text, (and more) something stock doesn't have. It's a nice app.

Do you know if its safe to remove the stock mms app and use go sms as a standalone?
You don't even have to remove the stock one but you can, or if you want in between freeze stock in titanium backup

Removing the stock mms apk will force close go sms. At least this is what I've found on testing when I was making a rom having only go sms.

I always use go SMS and delete the mms apk via titanium backup. There is a feature that allows it to operate with it deleted

If u want to theme the mms app, you have to decompile mms.apk and go into drawable hdpi folder and change around some of the images. For more complex things you can edit the style.xml file in the decompiled mms apk

Does anyone know a good SMS app that uses the holo design language? I've been using SMS Pro be am getting to the point that I dislike using apps that don't use the new (can it still be called "new") holo language. In some ways it shouldn't even matter because the Nexus devices can be flexible with their menu button. But I still dislike developers that make Android look old and dated
So I'm at the point where I've gone back to stock messenger but want (for example) a dark theme.
Does anyone have any ideas of a holo themed SMS app. (Holo themes for Go SMS Pro and Handcent don't count as the menu button is still in the wrong place.)
Here's a holo-themed stock messenger:

That's the one I use. Love it!

I was looking for a way to get Emoji on stock touchwiz roms and have found a way. It works, I didn't flash it I only opened zip and transferred files over manually (same as flash?) however, it is working. I think it made my message app fc sometimes but its very uncommon and it may have nothing to do with this mod. All credit goes to the original dev please give thanks there! Also you can see the emojis throughout the system not just messaging app however, only colorful emoji are shown in messaging app otherwise they are black and white outlines. If anybody knows how to fix this let me know or do it and share.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1922104
Also as you can see its for the galaxy s3 i9305 so if any devs can look into and make necessary changes (if needed) to make this a US variant mod, I'm sure it would be greatly appreciated. Anyways thanks for reading and hope I helped!
ps. sorry if this is in the wrong section!

Yea my girl has an iphone and she sends me emoji all the time (reason why looked for this mod). The only thing is that the color emoji will only show in the messaging app and they will be black and white crap everywhere else. Including the text box in the keyboard even when using the keyboard in the messaging app.
Dude yes I want emoji!!!!!

follow guide in the link, it works in the messaging app. You will still have to use the emoji keyboard in play store but they will actually show up instead of a blank space.
Emoji is now built into the UVDLJC build, no need to flash any files.
Synergy rom has an emoji keyboard basically its just a keyboard where you can enter tons of emoji's
