Rooted and installed Cyanogenmod 7.1, but cant download anything from market... - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I followed the g2 root wiki and installed cyanogen mod 7.1 per the directions, and I cant download anything from the market. It just says "app name" could not be downloaded due to an error.
I restored to the froyo backup I made, and marketplace downloads still work.
I then downloaded the ILWT rom, installed that and the same thing, cant download anything. Anyone know whats going on?

I've had that problem myself, Not sure if its a CyanogenMod issue or google apps issue.
That aside go to settings/language & input and change the language to anything but english then switch back, That should fix the issue.

I tried doing that as well as deleting the .android secure folder in the sd card but neither had worked unfortunately.

Ended up switching to the Andromadus Audacity Beta 3 rom and no issues at all with it, but if I end up going back to a cyanogen one I will give that a try.
One thing I noticed was that on the cyanogen roms, it would have the old marketplace. On the Andromadus Audacity Beta 3 rom it had the new play store. Not sure if that has anything to do with it?

[Q] Can someone tell me the correct way to use Titanium Backup?(

I tried on my own and after running it on new rom I get a "Parse error" type of message.
First I nandroid backup/swipe.
Then install the new rom(SPrint lovers 3.7)
Then I went right to the marketplace and downloaded TB again.
It tells me to go to settings/applications and check the install "Unknown apps install" button. so I do that.
Then I open TB again and go to batch, then I selected the restore all apps options and it gives me a error.
I read somewhere it says you have to install them one by one?
I read somewhere something about you have to mount a few programs or something?
I know I was able to do then in batch but try one by one it might work.

I see, well can you list the steps you would take to RESTORE the saved apps because I don't know if I did it the correct way or just forgot to install a side app.
well i figured it out from the link posted above, thanks. so i'll give it one more try.
I would recommend on buying the full version. Make sure you tap on PROBLEMS and then download BusyBox. Afterwards you can hit MENU-BATCH and BACKUP USER APPS. I'd recommend not messing with any of the other options. If you flash different ROM's a lot it's better to just backup the apps ONLY.
If you were to do for example BACKUP USER APPS and SYSTEM DATA that could potentially bring a whole bunch of errors on your new ROM's and tons of Force Closes.
What I prefer to do is to manually download all my apps between ROM swaps and then using Titanium Backup to restore the data. An example of what I'm talking about is if you have a game that you regularly play, you'd want to restore your data so you don't have to go through the game again. Hope that's simple enough to understand.
You said when you try to download it from the market it says check install unknown applications? Its not suppose to do that... You must have downloaded it and tried installing through a app like astro. If so download another version and try.

Not able to download from market on evo

Does anyone have an issue with the market? I can not download anything. In catlog it shows can't find pathname for completed download uri.
Any ideas?
tried a battery pull? Just checked mine, works fine.
YES tried this.. I did have a problem with the latest market where I had to uninstall the market update to revert back to the ORIG market (before the update) to get it to download anything.. BUT since I did a ROM update, I dont have the old version anymore .. so NOW the latest version of the market does not download at all....
Any ideas??
If google voice came on your rom, make sure you haven't killed or uninstalled it. That will mess up market downloads sometimes.

I dont think it came with the ROM but I did install it. Anyway, its there and running fine so I guess that isnt the issue with the market...
HMMM
You could try installing an older version of the market. Has it worked at all since the rom update? Or it just isn't working right now?

It was not working BEFORE the rom update but I was able to uninstall the market update and use the OLD market and it worked fine..
SO I believe this is a GOOGLE MARKET ISSUE.. where can I find the previous market that WILL install on the EVO?
If you want, you can pm me with your email & I'll email you the vending.apk that came with cm6 for the Evo. I'm not sure if you can simply replace the apk in system/app or how to go about installing, but if you want it I'll send it to you.

When I click insert, it only gives the option to insert from gallery, camera, or URL. This may be because I'm on my phone, not sure.
And second, I just remembered that my market is themed. I don't think this will cause problems but the op may not want a matted blues market. If not I could pull it out of the original rom download.

Yea, that's just cause you're on the mobile app. And it wouldn't make a difference, just his preference, but yea the original apk could be pulled.
Also OP, what rom are you using?

Help!!

Ok i posted this in the Q & A section and Im getting NO luck so i figure Ill post here.
Tonight I decided to try cm7, so I flashed and the gapps, I noticed that all my apps from cm6 were automatically downloading and it was making the phone run so slow so after a while I just decided going back to my Evo elite rom, now no matter what rom I flash I can't install anything from the market! It just keeps saying unsuccessful. I tried downloading from the market website on my pc and the apps installed fine! But I CAN NOT download ANYTHING from the phone! I've tried 3 different roms now all the same result! Anyone know what's going wrong? And how to fix it?? Any help is MUCH appreciated! I also changed sd cards thinking maybe my sd card was corrupt and STILL NOTHING! I just get unsuccessful EVERY time. But If i download from my laptop it goes to my phone and installs fine! IM baffled!!! PLEASE help???
Reflash CM7. When you start the ROM don't enter your email address, skip it. Afterwards make sure you have GAPPS installed and open market. Sign in with your credentials but make sure you uncheck the backup to google options. You should then be able to manually download the apps instead of having it do it automatically for you. Make sure you make a backup with Titanium Backup first. I lost all my 3stars ratings on Angry Birds. I have to play that damn game all over again.
No I did that earlier, but the problem isn't only with cm7 now it's EVERY Rom I flash, I've flashed 4 different roms now and I just can't download ANYTHING from the market on my phone. The only way I can download any apps is going on my laptop, going to the market website and clicking install from there and it will install on m phone. I've NEVER seen this before I not have a clue what happened but it all started after flashing cm7!
Which GAPPS are you using? There are many versions on Rom Manager. Did you download it from ROM manager? Did you download the GAPPS from the CM7 thread? I'm assuming you are flashing the same GAPPS file on your SD card with every ROM install.
I don't need gapps with any other rom just cm7, the other roms I flash are sense so u do t need gapps, it's weird I click a app to download it says your app will start downloading then it just says unsuccessful. I just tried a FIFTH ROM and I STILL can't download any apps
Go to Settings-Applications-All-Market and clear cache and stuff. Try it again and see if that helps.
Also go into recovery and try wiping dalvik cache.
maybe you need to do a full wipe...
wipe everything 3 times...
or
use the mod wipe that cleans everything.. it is listed in dev section, so a search for it.
I was looking at the MIUI thread and found a solution to people who can't download from Market.
"Open the "downloads" app from your homescreen, hit menu, and select download using mobile network to allow."
I don't know if it will apply for the ROM you're using but it's worth a try.
^Think that only works on Miui. I just needs to clear market data and cache I think.
Ive literally tried EVERYTHING guys! You know what worked? I had to make a new google account! If I sign in under the account I just made i can download from the market but if I use my regular account I cant download a thing!! Anyone know how to fix this????
Try changing the password on the account that doesn't work and then try to see if the downloads work. I'm running out of ideas on things you should try but I would bank on that being an issue. I hope.

CM7 All Gapps, but no Gmail?

I just flashed CM7 on my DHD and everything went just fine, I am flashing devices since the early days of Motorola Milestone. I was a huge fan of AOSP Roms on the Desire, so I finally made the decision to flash CM7.
I flashed gapps-gb-20110307-signed.zip and all Gapps are there, but Gmail! I just dont get it, am I that stupid or is there anything important missing? I looked into the zip file and couldnt find gmail either?

i just tested it in my device and i found it
why you can´t? u sure?
Once I flashed and booted back up and opened market I got requested to choose what I want to download and one of the options was Gmail app. I flashed the same gapps as you, that's odd.
EDIT: http://market.android.com/details?id=com.google.android.gm
Go to it with your phone and it should show up with the gmail app ready to download from the market.

[Q] Problems after flashing rooted Gingerbread.

I rooted my EVO and flashed radio 'EVO_Radio_2.15.00.05.02_WiMAX_27243_PRI_2.15_003.zip'
Then I flashed a rooted stock gingerbread/sense ROM 'supersonic_4.22.651.2_deodexed-signed.zip'
Problem 1: I reinstalled a bunch of my apps using Titanium Backup, but none of these apps are showing up in the Market.
Problem 2: I cannot sync Facebook for HTC Sense. Whenever I try to sign in, I keep getting the error "The service is currently unavailable. Do you want to try again?"
I have tried all sorts of things like uninstalling all Facebook for Android updates and even a supposed fix I found in other forums in which you edit your work information on your facebook profile. Nothing seems to work.
Can anyone help?

For the apps not showing up in your market it takes time and a reboot or two. The facebook thing I'm not sure about though, it wouldn't work right for me from day one so I haven't tried to use it in awhile.
Why do people need their apps to show up in the market if they already have them reinstalled with TB??

I just find it helpful to see which apps need updating. It's definitely not essential.
For the apps download a free app from the market and they should show up they did for me.

I'm sensing a pattern...
Thanks a lot guys. Today was my first experience with flashing. I can see why it's addicting.
I have a different problem after I flashed to the latest Gingerbread ROM, (on my eVO 4G btw). I flashed the latest ROM "gingerbread evo 1.2v", when that finished i flashed "EVO_Radio_2.15.00.05.02_WiMAX_27243_PRI_2.15_003" (was told it should fix any radio issues). then flashed "gapps 5-21-2011 with Voicemail.apk and Gtalk 1.3 with Voice and Video". My EVO restarted fine but now i cant make any calls or recieve any. In fact the status bar at the top isn't even there. When i press the phone icon i get a message saying "Application not installed on your phone". I must be missing a step or something. Any help would be great, thanks.

I read in another forum you sometimes need to re-flash the kernel after flashing new radios. You could try re-flashing the ROM now that you have the updated radios.
just tried flashing the rom after everything else and still same results. Any other suggestions?

I'm new to flashing ROMs personally, but I've also read people recommending to do a clean wipe 2 or 3 times and wipe the dalvik cache as many times before flashing again. I don't know what sort of issues they feel they are preventing by doing that so I don't know how plausible of a solution it is, but if you've got the time it wouldn't hurt to try.
Hopefully someone with more experience will chime in and you won't have to get your advice from a noob. Best of luck.
