Hi all this just happened to me 2 days ago while owning the nexus for a month so new to this game, been using two roms; Andriod Revolution, and the foxhound ones. My problem is that my battery indicator is always saying i am on charge when its not plugged in, and would drain the battery. 2nd problem is sometimes usb connected and nothing no response to charge or usb notification on comp, unless re-flashed. Anyone else encounter problems such as these? Thanks

I always plug my phone in to charge overnight and recently its started freezing. Its happened 3 or 4 times in the past week and a half. A couple of times the fully charged light was on but nothing would wake the phone up so I had to pull the battery. Another time it looked like it was off and no lights were on or anything but it wouldn't turn on so I pulled the battery and then it fired right up (battery was low so it wasn't charging). I set an alarm before I go to bed on my phone and that doesn't go off either so it's not just a problem with the screen or something.
The only major thing I've changed on my phone recently is installing the GO Launcher and using that as the default. It started happening about a week after installing that so I don't know if that could have anything to do with it?
I'm running a themed Cyanogen 6.1 and have been running it for the past few months. Does this sound like it could be a hardware problem with the phone or a problem with the ROM? Because randomly about a month ago the USB mass storage connection stopped working but I tried it through clockwork and it worked so it is a problem with the ROM.
Thanks for any help guys!
You need a new usb cable. Im confident that is the problem. If i am wrong simply return the newly purchased chord

I agree that it's the cord, same identical thing happened to me and when I switched cords, it was all fine.
My Verizon Galaxy Nexus will not turn on or charge. I put it on the charger Saturday night with ~10% battery left. When I up in the morning my screen was black and the phone would not turn on. When I reconnected it to my charger it did not indicate that it is charging.
I have tried 3 different batteries, chargers, and cables. When my phone connects to a charger or computer it doesnt respond at all, no charge light. When I connect it to a computer, the computer does not acknowledge my device at all. I thought this could have been related to letting a battery fully drain so a bought a seperate battery charger, a full battery has no effect.
I am running the latest Bugless Beast (released 10/10) which I flashed on release day and haven't had issues with. I have restarted my phone several times since flashing so I don't think this is os / app related.
Prior to starting this thread I been googling this issue and none of the suggestions that work for others seem to fix my issue. Please post any suggestions you have including the risky ones. Verizon is delivering a new Galaxy Nexus Thursday and I'd like to get my data off and un-root before returning my device, if possible.
Thanks

I am in the same situation now. I just took the phone, went to wifi settings to connect to a new Wifi network, and it got stuck there. I waited for about 2 minutes and then pulled the battery. After that, it won't turn on or even charge.
Really pissed with the fact that how brittle these darn devices are.
I updated my phone to jelly bean a few days ago and I'm having issues charging. Yesterday, I plugged my phone in at 66% charge for an hour. When I came back, my phone was at 55% charge, smokin' hot with a message box popped up saying charging had stopped due to temperature. Last Night I hooked my phone up to the charger, this morning when I woke up, all appeared to be fine, phone stated it being 100% charged and temperature felt normal. As soon as I unhooked it my phone charge dropped to 50%. I think I had to mess with issues like this on the captivate or sgs2. I am using a two amp touchpad charger and some no name cable, but it's the exact same setup I've been using for months without issue. Anyone else had similar issues?
I'd say the problem is the no name cable and charger I've never heard of. Stick to Samsung branded accessories designed for the s3.
Get a different cable. I ruined a battery using a cheap, unbranded cable. Now I just use the Samsung charger. If it does stop charging at a certain percentage, that's jellybean adjusting to the battery. It shouldn't last for more than a few days. Give or take around 3.

Hey guys I'm a newbie here so please excuse me for my mistakes (if any).
My 13 month old Galaxy Nexus i9250 started giving me problems last week when it randomly started doing 'phantom charging'. It was gone for 2-3 days then it came back again. I removed the battery cleaned up the Micro-USB port a bit and then it became normal for another 2-3 days.
A couple of days ago when I connected my phone to my laptop, Windows 8 gave an error "USB device not recognised". I tried different USB cables but without success. Yesterday the phone stopped charging from the official Samsung charger. Somehow I charged it using USB charging by connecting to my laptop. Today even the laptop charging stopped . I've tried powering off, removing the battery/sim and plugging back in countless times but to no effect.
Weird thing is, when I Power off the phone and then charge (via charger or USB) then the battery charging icon on the phone appears. The charging bars fill the large battery icon 2-3 times and then the icon vanishes. Again the battery charging icon is displayed with the same battery icon getting filled again 2-3 times. This cycle continues and even after an hour or so but the phone doesn't charge a bit.
My guess is the micro-usb port of the phone is faulty. I'll be going to get it repaired tomorrow, most likely. Sad thing is, Samsung service centers won't provide any support for the Galaxy Nexus here (I'm in India) so I;'ll probably have to shell out a lot of money.
Anyone with a probably cause/solution? Anyone with similar problem?

Try bending middle pin of mini usb port with a needle.
use search button, there are too many threads about fixing usb port
I've had my stock unrooted HOX for about a year and a half now. Recently it sometimes won't charge when it's plugged in, even though the LED lights up and the phone tells me it's supposedly charging.
It has happened when it's been at 0% and will only turn on for a minute before dying again, and it has happened when it's been at 100% and started to drop when I've started using it when it's plugged in.
This can happen from a few weeks without an incident to not charging every night, it varies a lot.
I have replaced the charger with another "official" one.
Strangely if I plug it into the USB port of a computer it will start charging just fine, but doing that isn't practical for me.
My question is basically to ask if anyone else has had the same problem and found a solution that doesn't involve sending it off to T-Mobile/EE. I have already sent it off once to fix the common wifi issue, which they didn't fix anyway.
