Hi guys, I'm looking for a decent earbuds for the Gnote. If you know or have one please share with me
3 main features I'm looking for:
- decent sound quality
- able to take/make calls
- volume control (buttons! not inline slide vol control crap like zagg smart earbuds...)
Thank you!

I can recommend two different in-ear headsets:
First, the S4i headphones made by Klipisch.
They have the standard 3-Button remote and a microphone, the sound is pretty good, there is only a bit of noise on high and sharp tunes. This is accomplished without making the whole acoustic deeper.
Second, I can recommend the in-ear headphones made by Bose. (MIE2 or MIE2i) There are 3 different models, depending what remote you want. The sound is also good, there is no noise on high and sharp tunes. But they have very deep acoustics.
You'll need to search for the brand's page yourself, I can't post links since I am a new member.

Thanks nixioninajar, do you know if volume buttons work on Gnote? I have heard 3 button headset like apple's, volume buttons doesn't work on android?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
For the S4i, only the middle button works.
With ICS, you are able to play/pause music as well as skip to the next track by double clicking (in the default music player app).
I don't have the Bose ones, so I can't try it out.
I been searching for days but seems like no such earbuds with button volume control... Unless its Bluetooth. I'm not sure why it's so hard to make them for android. Earbuds that came with n7000 is 3 button and works like charm but really bad sound quality they look the same as apple earbuds so why wouldnt it work on android... So confusing.

You might want to try the app "JAYS Headset Control".
It runs in the background and enables you, amongst other things, to control your volume with a one-button remote.
Not very convenient, but it works and you can use headphones with good sound.
Well. you can't go wrong with Sennheisers. ^^
But to get the some review, check out websites/forums like head-fi.org. =)
Thank you :] ill check both of them out.

One other thing to mention:
You can make iPhone remote headphones work with Android devices by doing a little soldering:
instructables.com/id/Galaxy-Nexus-and-others-headset-remote-with-medi/
If you'd want to that with your 100$+ headphones is another story, but if you are confident about your skills....

I would expect bluetooth to work. The interface is entirely different.
I guess I was just spoiled with the setup that came with my Nokia N97. The wired headset allowed you to use whichever 3.5mm jack headphones you wanted, and had controls for volume, next & previous, pause/play, stop, and phone answer/hangup. Plus a lockout switch, microphone, and antenna for FM radio with RDS. When I tried it on the Captivate, I had sound, but it was very hollow and about half as loud.
I also learned that when you unplug the headphones, the music automatically pauses and the virtual 5.1 surround, if enabled, is disabled and has to be selected again after connecting the headphones.
I do like the design of the stock Captivate wired headset, but the low end frequency response just isn't there. Seems like anything below 150hz is inaudible. I'm still using the earbuds that came with my Pioneer Inno portable XM radio and they're my reference by which I judge all other earbuds. I'm not sure what company made them (maybe Pioneer?) but they are the best ones I've used yet. Granted, I haven't tried anything from Shure, Bose, or the like.
I've been using my Ultimate Ears TF10vi, and the play/plause button works just fine but they have no volume control, so can't comment on that specifically.
I also haven't tried to use the mic yet, so I don't know if that works or not - I heard the Galaxy S had some weird issue with the wiring that made it incompatible, but haven't tested with the Captivate.
I am very surprised that the ones provided by Samsung didn't provide a volume control..
I am too. The volume rocker still works while playing and the screen is locked.

If you have a big head, these probably will not be what you want.

I've been using my wife's that came with her HTC Aria and they have play/pause and forward and backward buttons on them and none of them work.
On a side note, I hate the in-ear headphones, anybody know of a good pair that sit on the outside of your ear, like the old iphone ones?

The stock Blackberry headphones work. No volume control on them. Just one button. It works for calls and music and it's not in-ear.
Here it is on the Android Central store. Nevermind... Can't post links yet apparently. Go to the Android Central store and click on the Captivate and take a look at the headsets.

Could you please elaborate. I'm pretty new to this so I apologize.
How would this work? Through bluetooth? RF signal?
Haven't bought any of the brands above so am not sure.
Also what kind of adapter with remote do I need to buy? (Name?)
Any links if possible would be great for both.
Thanks in advance!

Get a SonyEricsson MW600 bluetooth adaptor and plug any headphone you want in. It has Play, Pause, Back, Forward, Volume buttons and microphone. Problem solved.
Thanks for the quick response - will check them out. Which earphone would you say is the best on audio quality for listening to music (as well as using it for handsfree)?

The problem with Bluetooth remote's is that the audio stream get's compressed, so that kinda defeats the purpose of getting high end ear/headphones. As technology stands today, wired is the only way to go for achieving the best sound quality.
I suppose the real question is this:
For ear/headphone microphone sets that we know work with the SGS2 (such as the one that came in the box) which have four connectors, I suppose the next thing to try is to see whether or not ear/headphones designed for iPhones will work correctly. If iPhone designed headphones work properly (including all controls etc.) then this makes finding a decent pair of working earphones a HELL of a lot easier.
I think that the headsets that comes with the device are quality, dont you think so ?
yesterday i bought the "Bose MIE2" and they are just great.
link for the international site
there are not many controls. just one button that lets you pick up/hang up calls and play/pause/skip music. thats more than enough for me.
the sound is so great but the best thing is the design of the speakers itself.
there is something called "Stay here" attached to them, which makes it almost impossible for them to drop out of your ear.
this works so well that i am even considering to use them for sports too...
unfortunately they cost about 130€ which is a lot. but for me the quality makes it worth it!
So far i'm enjoying the phonak pfe122 on my S2. Sound level seems to have improved possibly due to better isolation and clarity is second to none
I haven't had the opportunity to try out as many earbuds as this guy but his opinion in iem/earbuds is very similar to mine

I've bought A-Jays Four and for the price range they just sound amazing. As for inline remote, only middle button works, but thats enough in my case.

The MIE2I's are excellent imho, but like most others the volume buttons don't work with the SGS2.
Headset button controller app is workable and for me worth the hassle to use these headphones.
Mic works well. No one has complained about the quality when I call them.
Totally agree with nimroth. Very few earphones will stay in my weird ears, but these are perfect.

i meant a wired adapter not a bluetooth one, bluetooth is not reccomended for high end headphones especially because flac and uncompressed formats are of a way to high bitrate to stream correctly
if i meant bluetooth i would've said so , i haven't tested any with my sgs as i dont have access to any atm but what i would do is find the cheapest possible headphones with remotes that work maybe even old htc ones or something laying around, then cut off the headphones above the mic/remote section and attach a 3.5mm jack so i can use my Q-jays
least that is my plan.
the loss of quality from the extension will be negligible and either way the sound out of any phone cannot compete with high end audio device anyway, so if you really care about audio quality start carrying a Cowon player.

just for you in case you didnt know: there are two different models:
- the "mie2" only have the mike and ONE button for pause/play/skip/accept or end call (those are the ones i have)
- the "mie2i" are the ones for the iphone and have more buttons (like volume and stuff)
just like MarkyH said the mike-quality is really good (maybe because it is quite next to your mouth), but the volume controls wont work with the sgs2 and most other phones because of a different framework.
i decided to buy the mie2 because i dont mind the missing volume controls or the "one track back" button...
Thank you Nimroth and Also thanks to MarkyH..
Good to know that the headset mie2i works well i.e compatible with SGS2 except for the volume controller.
I've already one and I going to get SGS2 soon.
does the fm radio still work with the mie2i?

Which is the best bluetooth headset which works with Galaxy Note? I want one can let me listen to music, talk in the phone and it has buttons to control volume & songs changing. Please kindly suggest some, thanks.
I have the SE MW600, I didn't get my Note yet but I have read in this forum it works well with the note.
A very nice BT headset with Called ID Display as a bonus
I'm using a Blueant T1 (http://www.myblueant.com/products/headsets/t1/) and it works fine with the Note.
I make no claims to how good it is compared to other BT headsets as its the only one I've owned, but it certainly works more than good enough for what I need.
EDIT: Wait, you need song changing too? Cancel the T1... it has volume up/down, and a voice command button (which doubles as accept/end call) but no media buttons.
yes, I need to one change songs with it as well. I want the Bluetooth headset as two side in-ear, I listen to mp3 alot, but the original headset has a cable and it always blocking me, that's why I want a bluetooth one.

so, Sony Ericsson is working for Samsung? How's the sound? I am picky in sound.
Oh well, for me, the sound is pretty good. But I am far from being picky
I have SE MW600, its voice quality is not that good (far end usually complains from low voice). in addition I'm facing trouble with it with me nexus one (It hangs up if I receive a missed call without till I restart it again). I think it's not good with Android as I tested it on non-Android device it worked good

Yea, they do work with the standard music player, never tested it with Spotify, although they ain't seperate buttons (long press next = ff, long press last = rewind.)
Just got the note today and, for me, if works great with the mw600.
Voice quality is great by my standards and track info shows but not caller name.
I have ordered the JayBird Freedom headset. I mainly want to use it for music and audio books. Once I have received it I will provide some feedback on how well it works with the Note.
I use this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0052XQFKE/
It's convertible meaning you can use it in your ear as a typical BT headset, attach the provided stereo headphones for music (includes a mic) or there is also an adapter that allows you to plug in any headphones you want. I drop the BT unit in my shirt pocket while listening to my Bose QC15's. Powers them quite well (9-hour battery life).
Highly recommened, especially since I got them for $10 after rebate.

Hello,
I've bought the SGS2 a few days ago. The headphones have a quite nice sound.
Although play/pause and next track aren't OK for me. I'd need a possibility to
control the volume.
Could you pls recommend an alternative (and a wide spread one , so I could find
that also in my country) wired headset, which would support also volume control
on the SGS2.
I have been searching on this forum, but I didn't find a clear answer, rather just
workarounds or talks about workarounds...
Thank you!
Not sure myself on what you could do, but you could try using JKay's app (must be purchased through play store and have framework) to enable "Volume Buttons Toggle Sound" maybe that might fix your problem? I have wired earphones myself with the mic and volume bit and I can change volume by pressing and change track by holding in.
Hopefully maybe someone else will post something helpful but this is what I would do. Good luck!

Hello D3_ and thanks for your reply...
Your link points to a different topic - it is about people who want to keep the microphone of S2 and want to attach another headphones
(which don't have a microphone). I just accidentally found a semi-solution for me - I just looked at the S3 headphones of a friend and I
was very surprised to find out, that there are 3 buttons - one long button for volume + / - and another button for accepting phone calls.
I have immediately tested it and everything works under AstroPlayer, which is the player I'm currently using.
But unfortunately not everything is that simple as it sounds. It seems that Samsung makes these headphones only in white, as my
friend's one are white, despite of the fact that his phone is pebble blue. And my SGS2 is noble black, so you can imagine that I
wouldn't want white headphones :-/
I'll try to check Nokia headphones these days...
I have the white ones, as they came with my Galaxy Tab 7 +.
Apart from being white (and I'm not snobbish enough to really care), they're perfect.
Great sound quality, volume controls & on/off/skip track functionality...
Get a HTC RC E160 wired headset, all buttons work (though the left and right buttons changed function when I upgraded from GB 2.3.5 to ICS 4.0.3; they were skip in GB, but they became volume with ICS). I cut the earpieces off one set and soldered a 3.5mm stereo inline jack socket in their place so I could use nicer headphones with Mic and headset controls.

I personally LOVE Jay's headsets. I've got a pair of the A-JAYS earbuds with remote and in line mic, awesome sound quality, but my model has a one button remote. No big deal, their companion Android application provides additional functionality that let's you click&hold and do other patterns for different functions like volume and seeking. I do know they make a 3-button version too, but typically it costs $20 more. Available online in North America and most of Europe.

darkstar wrote just few posts above yours he has a pair.
I have a-JAYS One+ and I can not say anyhting bad about them. Great sound clarity and good basses, can be tweaked as to press/doublepress timing etc with their free apk which provides multiple options for controlling them better. Simply great piece of earphones. Mic is working great too. and above all, tangle free cable and great chinch is giving great user experience for me too.
Either these or more expensive versions will do, though Klispch S2 are great (tried them out, but settled with a-JAYS) etc... I tossed original earphones in the trash, seeing total failure Samsung is exercising when they include such POS with so high end phone. Same goes for S3, even though you see people posting how great those are. It is not so for me, and I tried them just to be sure I'm right. 3 of my friends has these with their SGS3 and I tried them - shallow sound with no good fidelity for me (phone calls are ok, but calling party is sounding like cheap radio for me). Well, guess what? They tried my a-JAYS One+, Creative Aurvana buds too, my Sony MDR-Z700 (original) headphones and even my old SE in_ear HPM70 short corded buds - all far better then POS Samsung is including with their top gamma phones.
Hey guys,
i love the stock in ear headphones but i'm struggling as to why samsung and apple can do remote control but HTC seem to only have 1 button!
I'd like to control volume, and also skip songs and go back, etc.
Anyone got any recommendations of headphones and how to get that functionality?

Hey guys,
i love the stock in ear headphones but i'm struggling as to why samsung and apple can do remote control but HTC seem to only have 1 button!
I'd like to control volume, and also skip songs and go back, etc.
Anyone got any recommendations of headphones and how to get that functionality?
Cheers

Hi,
It will be hard to find an headphone with the remote control.I see the Beats headphones made for the HTC Sensation,it have 3 buttons specially made for HTC Devices. You also have the official HTC headphone with 3 buttons on the htc accessory website.
Most of others headphones on the market will be for Apple devices,it have 3 buttons but only the "accept/reject call" work on the One.
If I had to recommend you a good one,try the v-moda m80 silver(Smaller) or the V-moda m100(Bigger).it looks great with the One with some silver metal builds quality. The sound quality is great even you 're listening hip hop music or classical. It comes with 2 cable:1 for the Apple devices and 1 for Android devices(just with 1 mic button) and it's kevlar made, very hard to break
Look for :v-moda crossfade M-80 white overview, review on Youtube for the official videos
By the way, there is also an app called:"headset button controller" on google play store,it was great and I used it on my old HTC models, but didn't try on the One.You can assign some function on one button like double/triple press or holding.
Jaybird Bluebuds X
yes a little pricey (I believe around $170) but they're bluetooth, meant for working out but sound amazing, ~8 hour battery life, lifetime sweat warranty (emphasis on working out), and best part...no chord attached to your device(s)
Yamaha eph-100. Tried many and these are amazing in ears and almost unheard of. Reason you will like them is they look like the htc one machined beautifully.

Loving my Bluebuds!
I use the LG Tone+ Bluetooth ear buds. They're 70$ and totally worth it. And this is coming from somebody who hates earbuds.

As far as my research has led me to believe, if you want to control volume and skip tracks, you can look into urbeats or if you want ok sound and full control for £20 then the htc 240 earphones are good and compatible... They are like the bundled ones, but with 3 buttons. Look it up on amazon.

The Kipsch S4a are pretty nice for mid-range ear buds.
Ultrasone PRO 900s The bass king of all headphones. The Klipsch S4 is nice as everyone says.

Fry's has these for $140 this weekend. I'm trying really hard to resist. That's more than I've spent on what I consider my audiophile headphones.
I already have the Plantronics BackBeat GO, which has a similar form factor. They fit well, are mostly inconspicuous, and have good audio for a non-AptX headset. However the 3 hour battery life and lack of multi pairing are keeping me from putting them on unless I'm doing something where the cord gets in the way (for me, mostly lab work). I considered the LG Tone+, but I think they look doofy and I question the quality of the earbuds.
