i think this should do it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178912
but anyway..
Somewhere in your very long sentence you mention that your sd-card works fine,
so this is what you do.
Then plug your sdcard in a sd adapter and plug it into your computer
Download this file: This is the original froyo ROM
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12567258/PC10IMG.zip
then place this file in the root of your sdcard and place it back in your phone.
Boot into fastboot by pressing the volume-down button while booting, and install the image (this should go automaticlly)
If you have accomplished this let me know and i'll help you further
good luck
yes i will give this a try and let you know how it goes also to add i still have stock recovery but i noticed if i go in to it and click update from sdcard it gave me an error but im still gunna try this n ill let you kno thanks
i get an error code says failed remote 02 data length too large

Another question to add. About the emmc chip now in my recover being stock recovery as I said be for I did the ota update for ginger bread. I dint have the option to select erase sd card it was blank now after the ota update it apared to be selected. To erase the sd card but the mount option didn't now I came a crost a post in the my touch 4g emmc fix that says the emmc files locate in the poc/emmc folder mite be corrupted now I'm thinking that mite be the proplem. Now if I were to get the non corrupt files for the proc/emmc for my phone and rewrite them over the corrupte files It should fix the problem possible do to a bad ota update or bad partion of the files on the emmc chip ...any body think that could possibly be the problem with the sdcard and usb brick that the phone is having ill get the link and post it here if it hasn't already been posted

I get this E: can't/mount/cache/recovery/command and that's the only error message and yes I have stock factory recovery ...but I can do a factory reset ..my phone boots up fine so possibly this can be fixed as the phone works perfect jus no sdcard can be detected so guessing its the mount partion on the emmc that is coruppted I dnt think its fried kus if it was my phone would be bricked and bootlooping right and unusible... So can I possibly fix the partion or no

well im not the expert on this, quickly skimmed it and if you truly have a corrupt partition of your emmc then this may fix it. dont know if this will work with a usb on our phone but it might, if it requires jtag then thats a whole new box to open.
good luck! hope someone can steer you the right way
oh and if this works and the emmc was the problem root right away, if this were to happen again you would be able to do this (more than likely) just through your recovery
Well I think its a corrupt partion on my emmc kus I had it on 2:2 froyo and the sd card mount and erase sdcard option was unselectible so I checked for an ota update for ginger bread and I did the ota ...to 2:3:4 and after the update went and checked the storage setting agaain and the erase sdcard option became availible but the mount didn't so possible it didn't do somthing right cus assuming it fix the erase option the mount sdcard file mite have been corrupted in the prosses and as for the link I read through it aslo an some were along the lines it says you can use jtag or usb through windows. To flash the files. I jus don't kno how to use the program but i ll need the uncorrupted emmc files from a g2 partion to give it a try

ok, phone was on charge, phone rang, went to answer, phone rebooted!. Left it but it stayed on 02 screen??.. Battery out, reboot - same thing!
Tried going into recovery but again it hangs on the o2 boot screen?
What the hell has happened?????
Was running DeFrost 3.6 with no problems!
Someone please tell me my phone is not kaput!!
First of all, pull off your sdcard.
Tried that - removed sdcard - still same.. o2 boot screen...
Can anyone help me please?? I cant even get into recovery to to a nandroid restore.. everything i try the phone just sits there on the o2 screen... is there a way to reflash an original rom incase i have to send it back???
I just dont undestand why answering the phone on charge i have ended up with a f**cked phone???
So i imagine you can see hboot screen.
You may try to flash a new recovery with unrevoked.
Yes i can see the Hboot screens.. i tried the unrevoked methos but it wont go any further than saying: waiting for device enable usb debugging... as the phone wont startup.
Vicious circle eh.. thanks for quick reply though..

What i was going to say .... if you cant get to the hboot screen well then bad times indeed
Extreme solution
If you can get the Hboot screen, as extreme solution, just copy in your SDcard (root directory)the file PB99IMG.zip or similar (I have no brand phone, maybe O2 requires a different file).
Be carefull, because this method will reset completely your phone. You will loose Root, every data, and you'll come back to the original branded phone.
You can search for this file at:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bravo/
Download the zip file corresponding to your version and rename it in PB99IMG.zip
Put this file in the root directory of your sdcard, start the device in Hboot mode and it should start automatically!
I hope this can help you.
If anyone more expert has a better solution, please help him

Ok, i will lose root but will i be able to use the unrevoked method again??.. or am i completey screwed then as hboot will be too high etc...
I have put my goldcard in.. but just cant do anything
So...the alternative is to have a not working phone. In any case, Unrevoked or not, you should give it a try if you don't have other solutions. But I suggest you to read a lot of threads before you proceed... many similar experiences could help you to understand the procedure.
Yeah agreed.. would rather a working phone.. I have been looking at the bricked threads but they are not so easy to understand.. Appreciate the help though..

Ok, i am completely stuck now.. I think i can repair the phone but i just have no idea how. I have trawled through bricked threads..just cant find a solution.
I think if i could get usb debugging enabled unrevoked might just work.
Using the cmd tool i can use enableqxdm 0 and it says okay - however unrevoked still does not see it as neither does my pc!
I have no idea how to restore my nandroid without getting into recovery???
I am unsure weather to flash the PB99img.zip as i have a branded phone and i am worried i will completely brick it!
Just so so lost....
Heres a tip though - dont answer your phone when its on charge!!!!

Can i use any of the PB99IMG.zips then as it was an o2 branded phone??? Or can i use the update.zip (is this the nandroid backup??) thats already on my sd card - have card reader so can mess about with that no probs..
I have just seen where it checks for the image afetr getting to Hboot so i understand what its looking for now... Question is what image do i use..
Really do appreciate all the help guys
Ok, i tried flashing one of the pb99img and i get a CID error (incorrect). It says this is because goldcard is not present but it is???? Is it because i am using a different standard rom to the one that was on the phone???
I give up for today - i gotta go to work. If i could get USB debugging to work i would probably be ok, but when i do the commands via cmd prompt it says okay but it doesnt seem to do anything!
My goldcard now seems like it doesnt want to be one, thus the cid error..
I am just going round in circles here..
Think i might just throw the damn thing out of a window - Its doing my head in!!!!!
All from answering the poxy phone whilst plugged in!!!!!
wow.. was hoping for a few replies.. guess no one has any ideas.. guess i am buggered then... ok so if i send the phone back to o2 - what is worse case scenario if they do see its flashed??.. will they just charge me for the fix or just not touch it at all??

I would suggest you put your SD card in your computer and verify the content. Or even better, I hope you have a backup of your SD Card after you rooted your phone. I think your partition may have gone, so you can't boot up anymore. Try to format your sd card, partition it with Gpartition or whatever prog you have and copy back the content of your SD Crad back up on your newly formated SD card. It should do the trick. The same happened to me when I changed my 8gb SD Card for a 16gb one.
Good luck and let me know how it works (or not).
forelli, in Darth Sidious mode.
The sd card seems ok in a card reader? I did do a backup a while back but i have a spare sd card so i will try that? Would the sd card problem stop me going into recovery though??? I thought that was phone based and not sd card based??
I have installed many ROMs without problems, including this one. I had a problem and went back to a backup that I made yesterday (I have a total of 4 backups on my sdcard from the last several days). Actually both....I am not entirely convinced that the PB13IMG.zip file got pushed properly...even though I did not get an error...maybe you can answer....does it get pushed to "-s" (sd card) or another location?
I am on a mac (I have windows also, but setting up adb was much quicker on mac) and I don't have the time for Windows setup, even with the Setup for Dummies that I found.

I am having troble unrooting an evo 4g. I got to the s-on part, but can't get the phone to recognize the PC36IMG.zip file. I've tried a couple of these ruu files, thinking that most of those might not be working properly. The ultimate goal, really, is to get rid of the superuser permissions. I am trying to sent the phone back to Sprint and am afraid that they might see it. I've tried downloading Terminal Emulator. However, everytime i put rm superuser.apk, the response i get is that it can not be done because it's a read-only file. any suggestions?
if the s lock is on you wont be able to get rid of it. How are you trying to get it to read the PC36IMG.zip because if you have it on the root of your sd card and restart into bootloader it will automatically read the zip and ask to flash it if not just do a clear storage and that should solve it

You need to run ruu now that you're S on. As was noted already, the PC36IMG must be on the main directoryof your SD card. Also, make sure the file isn't named PC36IMG.zip.zip. If you're using windows, then the file extension is hidden, and the .zip is already there, just hidden. Therefore, if you add a .zip, then its really there twice. So using windows, it should just look like PC36IMG. Once its named correctly, and on the main directory of your SD card, the bootloader should detect it and ask you to update.

Copy all of the data on your sdcard to your pc desktop and then reformat the card. Now place the RUU file on the root of the sdcard and if the phone doesnt recognize it in the bootloader menu, then it might mean your sdcard isnt "good" enough. I had the same problem with a class 2 card and i had to buy a whole new sdcard for it to work.
I've checked and made sure that the file name is right. When i put the phone in bootloader it doesn't recognize anything. nothing pop up to ask yes/ no.
Like I said, read my previous post. Format the card and try again. If it doesnt work, then try it with another sdcard.
Also, do you think it would be a problem to send in the phone with superuser on it still?
p.s. i tried to get it out after i re-rooted it and the s was off.
Thank you for the helps.
You can't send the phone in rooted period. Flash that unrevoked s-on utility again to get it back to s-on. Borrow somebodies sdcard and put the RUU file on it. Then flash the RUU in bootloader when the phone recognizes it. I STRONGLY believe that its your sdcard acting funny because it happened to me too.

I agree. If the OP is sure the file is on the main directory of his card, and its named properly, yet it wont read it...then formatting the card would also be my recommendation.

I've been trying to flash the Rom onto my phone, however every time I try It goes through all the install processes and says that is complete, but when I reboot the system it shows me the HTC Splash screen goes black shows me the splash screen again and then throws me back into Clockwork. I have cleared the cache and did a factory reset. So does anyone know what could be the problem?
I had the same problem... you actually need th DZ h-boot..
Im currently changin the boot but im having a problem with it.. ill let you know how it goes after im done with this problem.
I found something about the DZ H-Boot, but I have no Idea how to use ADK to get it on my phone, is there a guide that doesn't assume you know how to use it, or a way to do it without ADK?
www.virtuousrom.com
read it. follow directions.
to learn more about the SDK, check the wiki. there's a complete guide on how to install/set up your computer for ADB push.
I searched all over the wiki and can not find anything about setting up for a ADB Push.
just Google it or Bing it or duck it . there are guides all over the internet for different platforms .

You don't necessarily need ADB to flash the DZ hboot to the G2 I tried this method and it worked flawlessly...
Credit to codemonkey10 for the step by step process..
You need the DZ H-Boot... the rom wont run or install unless you have it. here is how to install it on your phone (guessing its a g2) without having to use adb... (and here is the dz hboot download... http://files.virtuousrom.com/vision/misc/PC10IMG.zip)
Do a full nandroid backup before any of this, and you will need an sd card reader....
Download the h-boot and move it to the root of your sd card.
Turn the phone off and turn it back on by holding volume down and power.
You’ll be ask if you want to update, press volume up to proceed.
After your done you be asked press power to reboot, press it.
You should will see the white HTC screen, wait 5-10 seconds then pull battery.
Pull sd card out of phone, and place in a card reader.
Delete the PC10IMG file (dz hboot) and put the sd card back in the phone.
Then hold volume down and power to go to bootloader
Once in bootloader go to recovery
Do not wipe anything because the new h-boot wiped everything
In recovery go to install zip from sd card
Then, choose zip from sd card
Find the Virtuous Unity Rom in the sd card.
Choose it and wait for it to install
Once it is finished choose reboot now.

Hi all!
I am having this issue with my AT&T i927 and I hope you guys can bring some light to the matter.
I was using OsiMood 2.2.14 (which is great!), for about a week, when out of nowhere I got a message saying that the SD was removed or something similar. I was just charging the phone, I wasn't using the phone at all when I got the message.
So far I tried:
1. Tested 3 different SD cards, whith no lucky.
2. Tried to restore only sd-ext under CWM (advanced option), but it did not work.
3. Restored the original AT&T settings that were backed up with CWM and the problem persisted.
Is there any way to mound the ext-sd with CWM or any other way to make sure that it's not a hardware issue?
I read about a so called "usb brick" on other Android phones, but couldn't find anything specific to our model. This may be the case?
Thank you!
Change the volds. fstab file from mmc1 to mmc2. That will redirect the kernels path to the external SD. Problem solved
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
Thank you for the reply, but how exactly am I suposed to do that?
Seemingly, you must edit this file located at /system/etc/vold.fstab on your phone, with a text editor or if you prefer a shell.
Right, I have got to the following line:
dev_mount sdcard1 /mnt/sdcard/external_sd auto /devices/platform/sdhci-tegra.2/mmc_host/mmc1/mmc1
Should I change it to the following?
dev_mount sdcard1 /mnt/sdcard/external_sd auto /devices/platform/sdhci-tegra.2/mmc_host/mmc2/mmc2
Another issue is that the file is read-only, how do I edit it? Also there is another identical file under /etc ... should I change the /system/etc one only?
Thanks!
/etc is a link to /system/etc, so this is exactly the same file.
You can edit it with a file manager like "ES File Explorer" which provides root access and write rights on mount.
Thank you. I've managed to change that line as in my previous post, but the issue persists.
By now, I've also flashed the original firmware with ODIN and also tried to flash the kernel only, but still no go.
Any other thoughts?
No ideas? Please guys, I haven't got my sd slot access back yet
Could someone please paste here the original vold.fstab so I can check if something is messed up there?
Thanks
After you flashed the firmware through odin, did you do the "Firmware Upgrade and Initialization" through kies, its under "tools"
(This will wipe your device)
After I did odin stock, I had problems untill I did this.

Any chances to be a hardware issue? like a sudden SD slot defect on the phone? There was no damage or falls or anything like that, for sure.
Well, now it's unrooted with stock recovery... take it to AT&T. They will test it and likely replace it right then. If they don't replace it they will mail you a replacement and you mail the defective one back.
We had to do this when my Dad's Atrix bricked from an ota from Motorola. (it was unmodified too, pure stock.)
Humm... I am afrraid it won't be possible as I livein Rio, and there's no ATT over here. I had to take the risks, as I need a physical keyboard (had a n900 before).
'There's samsung however, but my flash counter is not nil, and I am not sure that they would sort it here, as it's not sold here. To make things worse, I would need the purchase invoice from.US, not sure they sent me that.
Any thoughts are very welcome.

Oh, that's a bummer. I really don't know, I'm sorry.

Is there anyway for us to boot into fastboot mode? As I've found on google a way to restore sd brick, it's a fastboot command that you use on windows cmd, having the phone on the usb.
Any clues?
Had this happen to me the other day on my stock rom. Was fooling around in a game and got kicked back out to the home screen where it told me both the internal storage and the sd had been ejected. Took about an hour of turning the phone on and off, but I did manage to get it to work by booting with no sd card inserted, then inserting it after media scanner ran the first time.
Good luck hope this helps
Thank's for the advice men, I will try it and post the results here.
I tried what you said but id didn't work, so I put it back on stock using Odin and updated using Kies. So it was almost back to the original state (only the version was 2.3.5 rather than 2.3.6).
As I had tried everything, I was convinced it was a hardware issue, however, out of nowhere, it recognized the sd that was inside it.
I have no clue how I did it, so I could help other people. I only know that I have installed a animal sounds kids game, that had a counter and some ads and it apparently cleared the recent apps tab (if you hold the home key) and it was back to life then.
Anyone knows, what sort of command would clear the recent tab and in some way force the device to mount or unmount the ext sd?
