HTC One X Price Drop - HTC One X

Why has the price been dropping greatly in such little time?
Ive been wanting to purchase this phone, but is it due to any problems?

Competition...

Buy a phone that has better screen and design than SGS3 and save $200 =)

i bought the phone for about 36000 INR after a rebate of 2000. now though i am wondering if it had been better if i had just waited till the sg3 came out and an overall price drop occured.

Happens with most phones after their first month or so on the market. The operators and the SIM free sellers know that they can charge a premium for early adopters and gadget freaks!
The only phones not to see this discounting after a few weeks is the iphone… and thats cos Apple fix the price.
Steve

mine was 619usd after 3 weeks from a seller that sold pres for over 850 while gradually lowering the price. I got one of the last and felt good when i saw first buyers paying almost 900.

as some one who is about to take the plunge and get a TP2 im wondering how people purchased them and what deall they got
if im right they cost £504.85 including vat
best deal to suit me on contract is voda talker £30 + with mobile web
500 mins, 100 text (dont text that much) and unlimited mobile web 18 months @ £34.26 + £616.86
now for that the phone comes with no branding and unlocked, so why just buy it then get a contract is there something i am missing

thanks for any input
Vodafone 1 year contract, 27.50 € a month, + Unlimited Online Blox
I need to pay 286 extra for the TP2, total is ~650?
Not too bad. Because the the TP2 alone cost 600€. So I can call 200 minutes/400texts a month, for around €50 a year
And I'm getting a free 16gb microSD card from the e-tailer I'm buying it from. Great offer if you ask me.
Best deals I could find
Hi there,
I posted this on a different page but this is probably the best place for it...
I'm currently talking with T-Mobile and they have told me that they will be getting branded handsets in at the end of the week, personally I prefer a sim free version but it looks like it will be possible by next week to buy them on the network with a lovely discounted rate.
Handtec are selling the phones at £502.40 inc VAT
As I'm a fussy git I've managed to wangle an upgrade through Carphone Warehouse so it will be fully unlocked, sadly they dont have them in stock yet so I will have to wait until the end of the week :-(
For anyone who could do with this phone on a new contract on T-Mobile/Vodafone I urge you to check out www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk as they are doing some amazing deals, I couldnt help but drool, I would recommend the Combi 30 + package, £25 for the phone and £35 per month with web and walk thrown in and a shed load of free calls and unlimited texts.
I hope this info is of use to some of you.
UPDATE - I have cancelled my old T-Mobile contract and gone for the Combi 30 + Web 'N' Walk deal on www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk as it seems the best way of getting the phone with a very useful tarriff.
Cheers guys
Terry

Neckermann!
I was doubting if I should buy it there, but thought that it would probally end up in paying 600 for it. As the price is now 599 but it was indeed 440 before.
But it is a pretty sweet deal you got there !
Radio Exists!!

Hi,
I to ordered with neckerman and have a "confirmation" e-mail for the 440eur. I got no mail as to the price being changed or my order being canceled. I however also did not receive any unit yet nor did i get a shipping confirmation.
I'm pretty sure there is no way to hold me to a higher price.. the other way around however..
How / why are you so sure you will get the unit for the " confirmed" price.. there is some small print discaimer for wrong pricing.
I'd be interested to get my order definitively confirmed to...
Cheers

Thre are a lot of people who asked confirmation from neckerman (in a dutch ICT forum: tweakers.net). It seems that all people who have paid already using IDEAL get it for the prize they paid. People who asked a transaction form (accept giro in dutch) still have to pay 600 or get their money back.
The product is available in the Netherlands since today, so I expect to receive it pretty soon
(the fact is: people who used IDEAL closed the buying agreement by paying.)
got mine from MPD
£25 for the phone and a 18month contract with vodafone
£34 500 mins 100 text and unlimited web (which is what i want it for )

help/advice please
i am planning to buy tp2 and saw this but it looks too good to be true. the listing says that it is single camera version. is this a true/original htc touch pro 2?
has anybody seen a new tp2 as cheap as this? the seller has good feedback but still i want to be sure and hence seeking advice here.
Looks OK to me. I bought my TP2 from a UK based ebay shop 6 months or so ago, cost me £170 brand new. Mine is the US T-Mobile version, same or similar as the one in the listing you're looking at. There is no front facing camera on these models, also a few other differences to the EU phones, but they are genuine TP2s. Be aware though that any screen protectors or cases you look for will have to be for the specific model that you are getting, the UK ones will not fit, usually. I found a flip case & screen protectors for mine but had to buy from abroad, took about 6 weeks to arrive. As for the device, I couldn't be happier with it, flashed a custom ROM from this forum & all working 100%. Hope this helps, & if you go ahead with the purchase enjoy your new phone!

are other specifications same as any other tp2?
why would other screen protector not fit? is screen size/shape not the same?
Yes, aside from having no front camera, all other specs are the same. The screen protectors won't fit because the hardware buttons and speaker are different. Also the USB port is moved a little on the carrier specific models I think, so some cases may not fit properly. The T-Mobile version has a different colour scheme and provides access to the SD slot without removing the battery cover.

What is the best SIM free price in the UK?

I'm looking to get a Touch pro 2 in the UK. Does anyone know the cheapest place to buy one? Most places seem to be £450+!

Ebay is the best place to get a cheap one - they sometimes go for £300 brand new, which is a great bargain!
Theres a few places about, even Ebay like the previous poster suggested. but of all the HTC approved sellers. I,lld suggest you use Devicewire. I got my TyTN 2 from them and had no problems. I also got my Touch Pro 2 from them but I exchanged it cos I strongly beeived the first one wasnt actually brand spanking new. Not that there were any marks on it but the factory screen protector was missing and there were finger smudges all over it. Anyways I got a replacement device with a discount i.e I paid the advertised price on the day the replacement device was shipped (£452.99). Handtec are cheaper than Devicewire but as I found out when I bought a TyTN 2 from them (it was returned), they sell Grey imports.

If you want it cheap, you might consider getting it on contract from Vodafone. You can get one with no up-front payment on a £35 a month contract that runs for 18 months. If you want "unlimited mobile web" then you're pretty much going to be paying £20 a month for a contract anyway, so that means you're basically only paying £15 a month for 18 months for the phone - which works put at £270, with 18 months interest-free credit. You get either 750 minutes, 250 texts and unlimited landline calls, or 900 minutes and unlimited texts.
It can be even cheaper if you're willing to commit to a 24-month contract.
The phone will be unlocked (so you can change contract at the end of 18 months) and I believe it can be debranded without too much difficulty.
I'm a personal believer in www.expansys.co.uk for new devices. Sometimes they can be a tad more expensive but I cant fault their customer service at all.
Its swings and roundabouts... I paid £450 for mine from expansys.

[Q] Can U estimate the price of my GN a year from now (weird q)

What do you feel/think/assume/expect the price of our GN will be a few months down the line?
I am trying to estimate the depreciation of it.
I bought mine for 600 a few months back.
Not in Amazon they go for 530 or so.
And a year from now?
Same as the nexus s now...
I would say that most used mobile devices one year old would resell for no more than 50% of the fairest purchase price from launch day.
The Moto Atrix is about a year old, and someone's selling theirs on Vancouver Craigslist for $180. Now that is rather telling. You get additional depreciation if the device is stuck on an older OS or generally unfavourably reviewed.

Depreciation of a cell phone can vary greatly. Mainly because people aren't willing to pay for outdated software. IMO, people are more willing to pay for outdated hardware with updated software than they would with any hardware and outdated software.
This is why a Nexus device would be the best indicator for future value. I agree with the poster above who stated the value of a Nexus S now relative to its original price is the best way to judge the depreciation of your Galaxy Nexus.

Expansys Offerings Unlocked Galaxy Nexus for $400 – Beats Google Play With No Tax

Not sure if anyone has seen this yet.
http://phandroid.com/2012/04/25/dea...-nexus-for-400-beats-google-play-with-no-tax/
Edit: Some quick bullet points
*From experience and from what I've heard, Expansys does help with warranty if an issue arises
*The phone already "features the YAKJU software build which means this device will receive updates direct from Google"
*Free shipping is in the USA, no tax outiside of Illinois, and they do ship internationally.
Not that it really affects me, but for in country warranty, I would pay the extra $50
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
Yeah but do they still play middleman for two years should a warranty need arise? Otoh though $400 is a nice price for this phone and within many people's budget if you're a high mid or high end phone type of person.
sent with 3g courage. better recognize. 4g courage coming soon. stock up on diapers.
So... for sure this is the one with the international warranty?
No way I would buy this one over the one direct from google with a U.S.A. warranty if it is...
I ordered an MHL adapter from them back when the EVO 3D came out and it said it was in stock. Took about 6 weeks for it to arrive at my house. They said they sold out prior to my order. That's my experience with them.
Cool of them to lower their price to match the Google store. But I'd still have bought it from Google with the $30 sales tax and shipping anyway.
Hmmm... maybe this is the feeling all the Apple fanboys have when buying directly from the Apple store.
I live in Bloomington, which is where expansys-USA is located. Lucky for me I can save shipping when I order from them cause I can just pick it up. Unlucky for me cause I pay tax...
I didn't get my nexus from them two weeks ago when I ordered it because they were selling them for $569 and I got it from Amazon for $450. Darn, two weeks and would have saved 50 bones...plus I could just drop it off and pick it up if I need warranty work.
As it stands now the company I got it from said they will take care of sending off for warranty, but I have to mail to Chicago, they send to Samsung Canada, Samsung ships back to them, then them to me. Basically same process as expansys I guess but add a couple days and cost for shipping to and from Chicago. Oh well I guess. sometimes you make the right move, other times wrong. Sometimes you jump the gun and other times you miss the boat. Guess I made the right move but jumped the gun a little.

you're correct. bought mine from dailysteals a month ago for $465 wish i would have waited so i could have bought the google phone from google. they need a nexus store.
also after helping a few people deal with international warranties for devices i wasn't really worried about buying my nexus was any retailer because samsung was helpful in all the situations (2 unlocked gs2 and 1 galaxy note).
Less than $50 is more than worth it for the direct warranty alone.
gosh, i bought my gnex at expansys for 569 1 week ago.
i have screen display issues, might as well get a refund and re-order it.
meh

Is the A70 worth it

Hi everyone,
I'm currently using a Samsung S8 on a sim only contract for 10 pounds a month and my contract is nearly up, and I was debating whether to get an A70 on contract for only 26 pounds a month. Would it be worth it, I've heard mixed reviews and I can't make my mind up. Thanks.
The only real issue for me is still the fingerprint reader. It has been improved but still frustrates at times. Otherwise it is a good enough phone for the vast majority of people.
Whether it is worth it depends on the length of the contract really. It is £330 on the Samsung site. Not a bad price for the performance of the hardware. If the fingerprint is likely to frustrate then you might be better off with a oneplus but they are a lot more these days.
Samsung UK are doing a £100 trade in for any android phone plus £60 cash back and quidco another £11 brings it down to £160 i think thats a cracking deal
But be qick the offer ends 25/12
Wait for the A71
