Hi all,
I was looking out for a dock with audio out, but couldn't find one apart from genuine Samsung one, designed for galaxy s3 or older one for note, which will be bigger than needed. Unfortunately dock for infuse 4G would be too small...
I wouldn't mind getting Samsung one, but is pretty expensive for what it does.
Other solution I was thinking of is to get micro usb cable that would have a jack out as well as USB out for charging, plug it into dock and then I would have my audio out. But couldn't find anything to be honest. Does it exist?
I search this forum but found nothing.
Please, could you point me in right direction?
Galaxy S3 ICS 4.0.4
ROM: XXLFB
Unrooted.
100% original.
Only ones I've seen are mini USB for HTC phones so you just use a micro USB adapter to plug it in, and I know they also 11 pin cables but I'm betting it won't work.

I've ordered this one, hasn't arrived yet, but it apparently has the goods! I ordered mine from Australian Ebay (.au), not sure if you get the same options.
I can't post a link, but the ebay item title is..
SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 S 3 III GT-I9300 BLACK DESKTOP CASE DOCK MOUNT CRADLE CHARGER
item number 120926076846
Its quite cheap, that's why I'm getting it.. low risk.
Thanks a lot guys! Dock from Australia looks like will do the job and is a lot cheaper then the USA one, although USA one looks nicer. Still both will do same job so I think I will go for cheaper one!
Thanks again for guys!

I thought I had a bad ROM, but apparently it was a bad cable. And it seems as though the geniune cable does a "bit" more.
I didn't even think there would be a difference in between my Samsung Galaxy S3 cable and the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 cable, but there is.
I've been using an app call Galaxy Current Lite to see why it's been taking 8 hours to charge from 4%-100%. I have used the original charger cable that came with my Note 8.0 as well as the original set that came with my SGS3. Both yield the same result. Galaxy Current Lite showed max 500ma was going through.
After being frustrated I took my Note 8.0 to a store with another Note 8.0 store display, plugged it in and check it with Galaxy Current app... load and behold it was getting 1800ma.
So apparently the cable does make a difference. So I went to buy the geniune Samsung travel kit, while I deal with warranty replacement from Samsung tomorrow. I also found out that using a cable that is for Note 8.0 via my SGS3 or Apple AC to USB also gave a 1100ma and 900ma respectively.
So if you are having issues SLOW charging... grab the app and check. It could be the cable. And if it is... DO NOT GET A GENERIC. I tried a generic charging ONLY cable with the original Samsung charger it yield 468ma
Hope this will help others

Let me first confirm this and also post some of my findings in the past.
I have 3 samsung oem ones all having issues and then a generic and another from a nokia and they are the ones I've been using as they are shorter + thicker and give me 1800 ma constantly. I don't have any issues with generic ones as long as you use original charger.
When my note 8 went to service center for mother board and screen replacement (liquid damage), I confirmed with tech if there was something special inside the samsung cable, and was told that though he cannot disclose that, but even if there was, it's not related to charging, told me to just use any good/decent quality cable.
The Nokia one I have is CA-101D and it's extremely short in length (few inches) but good enough for unattended charging on table.
Apart from galaxy current like, one can also use battery monitor widget and in it's settings set measuring method to samsung one and it will also start showing what current you are getting as well as track charge/drain cycles.
I purposely use a 0.7A to charge my Note 8 overnight..

Genuine or not is not the point. One should use a cable designed to carry the needed current. Some cables are designed to carry only 500mA or 1A, especially in the old days. Nowadays with the power hungry smart phones/tablets, you would want to use a cable that can carry at least 2A or even 3A. If you are not looking specifically for these spec and grab just any USB cable randomly, chances are you would be limiting the current. Certainly the Samsung cable that comes with your device would supply sufficient current. But if you don't feel like traveling with a dedicated cable for each one of your devices, just buy a 3A rated cable, it would work across all of your devices. A 3A cable would be future proof for a while.

I tried some current apps, and found them to drain my battery, so be careful.
I used 2 meter Sony, BlackBerry, no name brands, and a case logic 10 footer. All did very well with high current charging.
The OEM Samsung almost killed my Note 8.0 by fire! After a few months the thin wires shorted out at the micro usb plug, and super heated. Won't use Samsung cables anymore.
My issue is plug life, micro usb sux big time for plug in design. No wonder USB3 has become a popular change to manufacturers of chargeable devices.
I just recently got a Galaxy Note 2 and I"m wondering if the chargers are interchangable between the phone and the tablet. Also any cool tips on how to use my note 2 and note 10.1 2014 together would be appreciated
I'm also kind of curious as to what color charger came with the black model? My black model came with a white charger which I thought was odd.

Yes the chargers are interchangeable but the one that comes with the tablet might have a higher output and charge faster.
They are both 2amp chargers so I wouldn't think you would see a difference using either one
the tablet charger is at 5.3V and the phone is at 5V. it doesn't seem to do any harm, but i can't say about long term effects.
so the 5v works fine in the tablet, but possible ill effects if you use the 5.3V(tablet charger) on the phone.
I purchased the SM-P600ZKVXAR (US version WiFi) from Amazon a couple weeks ago and something about it has been bugging me since: This is a black Note, but they sent me a white charger and cable in the package with it. (This was a new product in a sealed package, made in Vietnam; nothing different from the norm). It didn't bother me at first, but looking constantly at my little pile of phones, tablets, and cables on my counter, all black with the one exception of this white cable and charger, made me decide to send an email to Samsung.
Part of their response:
". . . According to Samsung, color of the accessories will be designed specifically depending upon the model of the unit. The model number which you have purchased will be bundled with contrast color accessories to the Tablet. . . ."
Well, this sounds like a bunch of BS to me but, before I pursue it further, I would like to know if this is the norm for this tablet. Has anyone else gotten one like this, or are they all black/black and white/white? If it is BS,I will pursue it with a vengeance.
Thanks for your input.

The charger and cables are all white.....
The white cord looks too much like Apple crap. That said, the only thing uglier than a white cord is a white tablet/phone. At least they give a choice there.
2x Note 3 here, 1 white, 1 black, both came with white chargers and cables.
My black Note10 came with white cable and charger too.
Whats bad about a white cable or charger? Am I missing something.

I'd like to hear from anyone who actually got a black charger/cable.

Nothing at all if you don't mind being mistaken for an Apple fanboy. I bought my note for what it could do, not for the social value of being seen with it. It is bad enough explaining to the sheep that it is not an iPad, I don't need white cables to confuse them more.

Ah right, well tbf I have a blue and yellow Frieq cable so people are confused more than anything else haha. But yeah, as I fly a lot, the security always say "can you please take your iPad out of the case" kinda bugs me a little.

Same here with a black version. White charger and cable. Not that big of a deal though.
Get a new black wire if it's really bothering you or plastic dip it
All of the black Samsung stuff comes with a white cable and charger these days. They used to be black when they were still using a proprietary charging port like on the original note tablet but no more. ?

The last 5 Samsung products I purchased came with white chargers. I don't recall ever seeing a black Samsung charger.

Well, I suppose that settles it. Just because Samsung is expensive doesn't mean that their product isn't cheap.
So I need to pick my battles, and this isn't going to be one of them.
Thanks to all who responded.
I have a black charger
When I bought my note it did in fact have the white charger and wire. However, when I purchased my galaxy S4 Active (phone from att&t), it came with a black charger and wire that matched the output of the tablet charger...
My Note 10.1 also came with a white charger but my wife's Note 8 and Note 3 both came with black chargers and cables.
white 10.1, white charger
white GS3, black charger
most importantly, the chargers charge!
S3 red came with black charger but white headset, P605 white came with white charger.

I too got a black tablet, but with the white charger and cable, I also got a bulky adapter for European countries, which is awkward to use in a standard US wall outlet. My tablet came from Singapore through eBay, but shouldn't they be color matched, as well as matched with the proper wall outlet? That was somewhat annoying, especially when the bulky adapter kept wanting to come loose from the plug in outlet. To make matters worse, I was stuck with Singapore time, until I got it changed when getting service through t-mobile. Maybe they should consider the customer first, and make the necessary changes in accordance with where the device will be sent and used. That would be nice, and show more consideration of the customer than just making another sale!

I took the time to go through the reviews on Amazon.com of the first page of results for the search "Samsung Galaxy S4 OEM Cable" (link: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_pg_2...TF8&qid=1428580483&spIA=B00SR59P88,B00L5W86BW), and in the reviews for nearly all of the first page items claiming to be OEM - there are reviewers indicating that while the cables may work to charge the Samsung Galaxy S4 (at a rate similar to an OEM cable) these cables are in fact not genuine nor OEM.. In fact, some of the reviewers point out that while the look of the cable, length of the cable, branding of the Samsung name, and product serial number on the cable may look exactly the same as that of an OEM cable they are in fact non-genuine since reviewers have pointed out that the cables tend to break more frequently (ie. tear through cable insulation more easily than OEM cables), or are incorrectly manufactured causing burning of the internal wire leading to sparks/smoke, or charge at a higher rate or lower rate of charge than what an original Samsung Galaxy S4 OEM cable would charge as measured via a diagnostic app.
In short, if Amazon.com really does have a listing for a genuine/OEM/original/stock Samsung Galaxy S4 USB Cable - would someone please link the Amazon.com product page? It goes without saying, that the importance of having a stock Samsung Galaxy S4 USB cable is essential for successfully flashing a Samsung Galaxy S4 without bricking it.
Your sweating this cable thing to the point that your going to have nightmares.
If it's that critical get it directly from Samsung , I look at reviews on products and use that as a guide.
I purchased a 4 ft brand x black cable 3 yrs ago that is constantly attached to the charger and is used daily to charge my S4 and wify's note 3 without any issues whatsoever.
Also purchased a brand x 5ft long tablet cable with no problems charging our 10" and 7" tablet.

I took the suggestion, and went to my local Five Below and purchased a flat charging cable (Spektrum brand) as described above for my Samsung Galaxy S4; while I haven't tried flashing with the cable yet I can confirm that the cable cannot keep a consistent tethering connection from my phone to my laptop since it frequently disconnects when alot of data is tethered whereas my original OEM Samsung Galaxy S4 cable had no issues with keeping a consistent tether connection. It is my observation that this issue occurs as a result of the cable not being genuine.
In short, does anyone know of any Amazon listing or any other retailer that sells genuine OEM Samsung Galaxy S4 data/charging cables? Or is ordering directly from Samsung via their website the only way to purchase a genuine OEM Samsung Galaxy S4 data/charging cable?
It sounds like your usb connector on the S4 may be wearing out. They can get fussy as they get older.
