hi
yesterday I have bought a new galaxy nexus
and updated it to latest version android 4.0.4 IMM76l
but there is 2 problems
1- I have enabled the pulse notification led but the led doesn't flashing when there is a missed call or new SMS
the led only flashing when the phone is ringing during the incoming call notification
is this normal or not??
2-I have tried to attach a USB mouse to the Galaxy Nexus using a USB adapter
the mouse led has lighted but the mouse doesn't work I have tried another mouse and the same problem
is there any problem with the phone??
or maybe the problem is that the USB adapter isn't compatible with the phone
the adapter is working correctly in galaxy s2
and I have seen a lot of videos shoes that the Galaxy Nexus should work with USB mouse without any root or programs
and Google also says that here
http://support.google.com/ics/nexus/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1650160
please let me know cause the phone has warranty and I can return it if there is any problem with the phone
thaanks
to your first question: try the app "lightflow" from google play
to your second question, i don't know never tried this
I don't know about the mouse, but for your LED needs, I'd just download Light Flow from the Play Store. It'll do everything for you (set color, frequency)...SMS, calls, email, battery, etc. The Pro version will give you options for more apps.

1) the screen needs to be off and the led will light up after the notification or missed call has happened not during. The usb pulse is slow by default. YOU DO NO need light flow like others have suggested but, it make customizing led notifications a lot better and is highly recommended.
2) not sure why usb mouse isnt working could be adapter could be mouse could be the kernel ... i dont know why you would want to connect a mouse anyway?
I have tried light flow app and the led works with it
but without the light flow app its not working I have watched the led for 5 minutes and it doesn't flashed at all even though
-the screen is turned of
-the pulse notification led option is enabled
-there is a missed call and new SMS
2) I just want to make sure that the device is working properly cause I wanna root it to use StickMount app to be able to use a USB stick
could u please try to attach a USB mouse to your device and let me know if it works or not?
I have found that the led works when there is Google talk notification
but it doesn't work when there is missed call, SMS or any other type of notification
how can I solve this problem (
I don't like to install a third party app for a function that must work without it
up up up
it is a known bug of the 4.0.4 update
in case of missed calls/sms there is no pulsing led notification
the led works for gtalk, mails, whatsapp, everything (only if the app handle led notification)...except for calls and sms..
thanks alot
whats about the issue with USB mice
I have tried to attach keyboard and it works great
but i have tried 3 mice and non of them worked
is this also issue from android 4.0.4??

I love the DEFY really, but couldnĀ“t find a customizer yet for the built in LED.
I want to config behaviour for e.g. sms or emails . Any ideas?
Hello
You should have a look at Missed Call, available on the market.
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
I use missed call, sms notifier, email notifier.
The great thing with email notifier is you can select a different color depending of the e-mail account.
I tried Missed calls for Android 2.x on my Defy today but it didn't work. The LED was still blue when receiving a call and didn't flash when missed either.
Anyone having an idea?
I tried to disable led notification in the phone's settings but it still didn't work
App Blink -> Android Market
Same thing for me. Tested all the apps. The led is not working.
Even with Led tester which says that is compatible with defy, doesn't work. What to do?

I had a problem with the LED. When I activated it with the apps, nothing happen. I had to go in the phone settings to activate the LED.
Thanks for the hint molexxx. Do you own a Defy? Because I tried that app and it is not forking either. Not with LED turned on or off in general phone settings.
The only time I see this LED ever working is when receiving a phone call it is blue no matter what app I tell to light it in a different color
Have you tried "LED me know"?

Yes I have a defy. It works perfectly.
TESLA app is working for me.
I've used "Flashlight" (use camera LED) & "Shake-Flashlight" (use screen LED) from my Defy and both works fine
MotoTorch for LED, and QuickSettings has a Display Flashlight included.
I didn't have any luck with any of these programs either. Missed Call only worked for missed calls, lol. No other programs would change the color of the front LED.
I don't get it, the notification LED works for everything EXCEPT the native SMS app! WTF is that about? Are they really that lazy to no include any LED notification options in ICS for this phone?
It works perfectly for FB, Whatsapp, Gmail, etc... but nothing for SMS/MMS?
Or am I missing something here?
Download light flow in the market. The lite version works perfectly, and you can set up different coloured led notifications for different apps

Nope, you're not missing anything. Noticed it myself. I assume (or hope..) that Google will implement it anytime soon with an update.
? I get LED notifications for SMS..

Getting led notifications for native SMS normally
I think OP meant there are no -options- for LED notification for SMS messages. At least, that's how I interpreted it.

OP said LED notification doesn't work for SMS. It works for me, but I'm using GO Sms pro and not stock.
Works for me to on stock
make sure pulse LED is selected in the settings, otherwise it wont but still works under 3rd party apps
It also works for me, that's not how I understood OP's problem. My point is that there are no settings for the notification LED in the SMS app. You cannot enable/disable it there, or choose a color.
sms native led works.gtalk led works.gmail led doesnt work (why?). twitter and facebook didnt test it and dont want it.missed calls led doesnt work (bad bad bad) most probably because of the screen on?
works here nativ too.
maybe faulty handset?

WARNING: this app has serious compat issues with ICS.
It can cause your screen to not want to turn on again. I had to battery pull and then uninstall before the app started.

Yep.read few posts with problems came from light flow
You're right it does work I thought it wasn't working at all... but my other point where you cannot customize it for the SMS app is strange for having a brand new OS designed for a phone that has this feature.
I definitely don't want to install a 3rd party app for this.
thanks to all.
I am quite sure Cyanogen 9 will have that... CM7 does...

Just some additional info on this, based on my experience:
I had the same happening to me, but only after I went to "General Settings->Additional LEDs found" and checked the box (I did that because I thought something isn't working right, but turned out I was just too stupid ;-).
My guess is that what's listed there as an LED is actually the main display, and checking the box messes things up.
Since rebooting (by pulling the battery) and unchecking that box again, everything works perfectly.
Also, if your GN is rooted, Light Flow will ask for superuser rights. Decline that, it's not needed on the device (everything runs well without su rights, as far as I can tell)
Even the Nexus One didn't have built in options for the notification light. In fact, it wasn't until much LATER that someone realized that it can do different colors.
I think CM7 is the only rom that had the notification LED settings built in at a kernel level. Other roms required the use of 3rd party apps (which killed the battery).
Coming from the original Galaxy S which did not have any notification lights, I still prefer the NoLed application instead of the led light. NoLed allows you to see the contact photo as the indicator that you have an sms message.
I use SMS Popup. It is a great utility and it supports LED Notifications

I haven't seen any LED notifications. Gmail, sms, or with go sms pro. I tried testing notifications and nothing happened. LED tester verified that the LED is in fact working though. So odd.
Hello everyone,
I recently got a nexus and love it. Just one thing that I can't quite figure out is the notification light. Is it supposed to come on, when you have a text, email and notification from an app? I have it activated in settings but it doesn't seem to be coming on when I have a notification. Any ideas or special settings I should be aware of?
BIG THANKS IN ADVANCE!
When I'm charging my device, or if I receive a message my led lights up. I have light flow installed though. Didn't set up anything in my rom control settings.
Also when you receive a message do you check it right away or let it sit? If I check my message right away it doesn't come up if my phone is idle it flashes as a reminder.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Premium App
Thanks, I can try that program. But isn't it supposed to show the notifications on its own? It did light up ONE time when I got an email. I'm on stock 4.0.2.
* Lightflow seemed to correct the problem. THANKS!
the built in notification is a fail. all the apps have their own settings which is why some pulse and some dont. Just download light flow..more control as to colour and pulse time and speed and such.
I dont use any app and my light works fine. Text blinks blue using handcent, google voice blinks green, gmail blinks white.
I believe the led can be configured by any app if the dev codes it in, but google did not give us control of it, instead letting devs handle it. Cyanogen surely will have built in controls.
So far with all of my jelly bean roms that I have tried, I have had a lot of problems with notifications. The most frustrating problem is with the stock messaging app. I don't get any notification whatsoever (including LED, sound, vibrate, and icon) unless I am actually in the app, and obviously there's no need for it then. Right I am using GoSms as my notification handler, and the texts/notifications come in fine, but I want to use the stock app through and through.
I have all other apps working fine with light flow, and another curious problem is that the LED control that comes with the rom won't control the LED, even with light flow disabled. Doubt they're connected but these are really the only problems with my current setup.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi guys, why I can't see the button top right to enable wireless display?
Noticed that as well when swiping down and not finding the wifi or bt icons to enable them. I also noticed that when i plugged the phone on t o charge the charging icon in the battery displayed that it was charging. Then when i went to pull down the USB connecting options drop down menu it wasnt there. Then once it did appear it was on the last option i used "transfering pics" instead of defaulting to "charging" like every other phone ive ever owned.
How can I fix it?
Wireless display is not officially supported by Google, so you won't find it in our phone. The only option is Google Cast (to Chromecast).
