Yes, it is a very good phone for its price. It works great with sense 2.1 roms and cm7. it has ics update, look at the development forum.. it is buggy, but modpunk will fix it soon.

All in all, I am satisfied with it.
But only when you root/OC it.Then it works without any lag on sense 2.1/3.5 ROMs, as well as on CM7.
ICS is available(CM9), it's still in alpha stage, but it's very good. There aren't so many bugs considering it's in alpha stage.
modpunk is great developer, and he will sort it all out.
If you're asking about official ICS..no.We will not get it.
HTC does not care for their customers, that's the reason.

Wfs is definately good choice for its price, get anything bit sony cr*p,they really dont care about customers
Sent from my Nokia 3310 using xda premium

I thinks also its a great phone for his price.
It's a mid range phone, but when the phone is rooted its nearly a high end phone.
I'm very glad with the WFS

unless smallness is a major priority, you might instead look around for a used incredible S. It would be about the same price as a contractless wildfire S ($200-250 around here), and packs a bigger screen, better processor, lots more internal storage, has a full software s-off available, and will be getting ICS sometime this year.

He has a dumb phone he just wants android he doesn't really care about the fast stuff I do but he has 3 choices of phones

Good phone, gsm or cdma?
Sent from my HTC_A510c using xda premium

I think there is GSM (Marvel) and CDMA(marvelc) variant, I am using GSM.
Simply superb, at first the battery backup is low. But now it is well for me. Happy to use this phone

I have a cdma.
Pros
-sleek and stylish
-radio shack has white
-good CPU speed
-great camera
-nice clear screen
Cons
-Bad battery life
-phone is VERY light, feels cheap
-no backdoor cover for extended battery for cdma
-hard to find cases for cdma
-some phones can be defective (I had 2)
-touch screen response isnt the best
Overall I give it a 6/10, I've had my phone since black Friday, you get what you pay for really, for a new comer into Android development this is a good starter. I honestly would recommend the LG optimus v over this phone. This is just my opinion, goodluck

5 more days!!!! such an agony waiting for 5 more days for it to arrive...
We really, really need more posts like this that highlight the good vibes about this phone. I've been reading through this forum and most everyone is just posting about problems they are having.
Monday is when my phone will arrive. I can't wait to see how it compares to my Sensation 4G!
As I just posted in the "Would you buy it again" thread, YES! I have had none of the problems some people are complaining of. Naturally, if you are having an issue, you are more likely to post about it, whereas if everything is running smoothly, you're too busy enjoying your new phone to post about it.
So far this phone is excellent. I just picked mine up today from T-Mobile and I'm loving every minute of it. No lag, super fast (both data and OS), very decent camera, GPS locks surprisingly fast, gorgeous large screen (minus the resolution which I don't really notice) etc. I would definitely recommend this phone. I am coming from the Sensation and I do not have the wifi death grip issue and 4g signal seems excellent.

couldn't be happier. I busted the screen on my SG1 about a month ago (crack down the screen but still operational) and have been waiting patiently for this. Can't wait for root so that i can get rid of all the bloatware.
This is my second day with this phone and I honestly love it! The last phone I really enjoyed was the MYTOUCH 4g. I had the nexus 1 (cool phone), Samsung vibrant (Boooo bad Samsung and carrier support plus lag), then the MYTOUCH 4G ( best single core phone ever hands down!) than I tried windows 7 and got the HTC HD7 (very nice experience, now with mango it should be great) , than got the sensation 4G ( very disappointing experience considering it was my first dual core phone, laggy, returned 3 phones. Thanks to the devs my experience with it was good before I sold it) and now the T-mobile Galaxy SII ( best phone I've owned so far). This phone is awesome. I took it to my job today and let my coworkers play with it ( people who have no knowledge of specs usually give you honest opinions) everyone says the screen is incredible, the phone is big, it's very fast, it's light and thin, it feels cheap ect... Bottom line is this phone is awesome. The screen resolution is not a deal breaker at all it's not even pixelated. I'm glad they got rid of the pentile.
Im ocd and ALWAYS find something i dislike about every phone. The only thing i dont like...cant change the ugly ass lockscreen image
This phone is sweet and im loving the 10+ Mbps data speeds i get now. I havent had a single issue yet and havent put it down since i got it.

If you could get a rezound you wouldn't rather get the nexus? Rezound is using our same Qualcomm S3 MSM8600 chip.
As a phone, the S2 is absolutely fantastic. Does everything I want it to do. As a carrier, I'm still on the fence with t-mobile. Data speeds are plenty fast, but data reception seems to be a mixed bag.
well... when it comes to Reception, that is really the nature of the AWS technology which requires 2 wide bands 1700+2100 for up and down to work
so building penetration is always a compromise

Now that I am on the Galaxy S2, I can tell you that it is by far the best phone that I have ever owned. Even stock, it is absolutely blazing fast. After I put beastmod on it, the thing just flies, and this is before OCing. Keep in mind that ICS is supposed to be able to utilize dual-core technology to it's fullest so when the update comes up (it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when), our phones will be in for a nice tune-up. As for as internet speeds go, I can tell you that it is BLAZING fast. It is faster and more reliable than when I had my G2 (which was just last year).
I can't post pictures but I can tell you that the fastest I have ever gotten with my S2 (in the same service area that I tested my G2 just last year) is 31MBPS. For daily usage, I consistently get 7-14MBPS. I am downloading HD videos off of Youtube in a matter of 5-10 seconds. I am downloading and finishing music downloads as soon as it pops up in my notifications bar. The phone is fast in every way, and everything flows so well together. No lag, no hassle, it just works.
got my phone a few days back from my awesome girlfriend, amazingly fast, battery only lasts a day, from 9 till 6, as i always use data connection, 1850mhz, not much of juice for this 1.5 dual core monster, resolution is a draw back with this nice screen 4.52" i am talking about, only 480*800? meh, waiting for miui roms........ only alpha versions atm, touchwiz looks gay.
speaker is way better than i9000, louder at least! some people say they want metal back cover, i say hey, it is light!!! with this kinda size!
i would give 9 out of 10 for this phone, i wanna buy the sprint version, lol, cdma 2000. not available in china yet, too bad.
What app do I use to test for lines and blobs?

Its a nexus brotha what else can we say.... pure sexyness.
G Nexus
Pick up the extended battery if its still on sale for $25, well worth the money.
The best phone I have ever used....and I've had a boatload. My only complaint is that the ringer volume is low (at least on mine). My recommendation is that you unlock the boot loader first thing and root + install wifi tether. Very nice.
Overall, the best phone I've worked with. Doesn't benchmark like my old Epic Touch 4G but the Nexus has not slowed down once for me and the real life, real world performance is top notch.
Honestly, I like this better than the GS2. I wish the stock camera app was better but there is a new app called Camera ICS+ that adds many of the missing features back. Still waiting on wide screen pictures but very nice.
This is a great device and it's only getting better.

Same here. If only the ext speaker was a bit louder! Trying the Galaxy Nexus makes it hard for anyone to go back to anything else, regardless of the cons.

Hey new to Samsung completely...

I am getting a gs2 tomorrow for T-Mobile and was curious what are somethings about this phone to look forward to? They are sending me a replacement for my one s cause of too many problems that I have been having for the device and too many replacements sent out so that is the alternative that they are sending me. I know processor wise and camera wise it doesn't add up to the one s but what are some things that I can look forward to do with it and what are somethings that you guys would recommend doing out of the box?
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda premium
Right out of the box? I would say that rooting would be the best start While android is android, there are some vast differences, the TWUI is one of them. Most people don't like the TWUI (including myself), but I have found that there are quite a few that enjoy the tw ease of access and the fact that it was made to mimic the iOS interface. Speed and dependability are the biggest things with the Galaxy series. I like htc, but there are too many bugs in the system. The difference in the screen is very noticeable as well. I can rattle off features, but in reality it wouldn't matter if you don't use them. Play with it, have fun with it, and enjoy the ROMs that these amazing devs come up with on here Enjoy
im surprised you didn't argue for an s3
Went from the G2 to the GSII and was really happy with the switch. Previously I've had all HTC phones and was semi-reluctant to switch, but I'm a fan of other Samsung products so I went ahead. I think you'll be happy with it, as far as productivity its great, but definitely root it and maximize its full potential and get rid of all the bloatware.

I raised hell cause my job relies on my phone and I told them if I wanted a banging ass camera an a good mp3 player I would have bought a iPod an I have bought every new device they have released in the past two years. An I told them I wasn't paying for another device so they opted me with the gs2 an I took it. Is it easier to root the sg2?

(FYI) Inc 4g has s-off coming

Does this really belong here? prolly not
but i know a lot of inc2 users dont want to upgrade and loose unlimited data, and buying phones off contract can be crazy expensive to keep it
inc4g can typically be had for under $250 on ebay/cl, and now we have s-off coming (which being locked was a major point for many to avoid the phone)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1944157
basically thought id throw this out there, for those looking for a pretty good (i love it, others refuse to use anything smaller than 4.3 inch screen these days) 4g phone that can be had off contract used for just about upgrade pricing, can now not worry about having an unrootable/locked phone :good:
it will most likely be getting official jellybean at some point, which the rezound probably wont (nothing against rezound, but that could be a deal breaker for some)
Awesome, the not unlockable at all part was definitely what had me staying away from this, I knew it'd get done eventually though, thanks for the heads up.

yeah ive had the inc4g since launch...i was one of the fortunate ones (maybe 80-100?) that got dev unlocked through htcdev when the phone was unoffiicially supported for its first 10 days post launch...after that htc killed support to it...
theory was either a) verizon told them to (verizon claims our stock release software and unlock would cause issues...according to some support folk) or b) verizon just didnt want it unlockable
in any event, it ll work out in the end, cuz we probably wouldnt have soff if we had dev unlock as andy might not have had to reach out to the i/o guys if we still had unlock...and soff is so much better
but our sense4.1/android 4.0.4 update this week contained the exploit the guys needed to get temproot and soff the device supposedly :good:
as for the device?
battery life is incredible for a 4g device...on the stock battery and kernel i get 4 hours screen on time regularly (more than my inc2), in lte coverage the whole time...radios are very good
comparing it to the inc2, i guess form factor differences would be iphone 4s vs iphone5...the inc4g is narrower, but qhd res....i happen to like the screen a lot (even though some blogs killed it)....its very responsive, and smooth (even more so now on sense4.1 vs 4.0)
Keep us posted on the s-off. Thanks nit.
Thanks for the info Justin.
Well I will certainly be getting this phone for sure.

Since when did CM only support moto phones?? Only reason we aren't supported is because we don't have kernel source, we used to be for GB.

If anyone cares for another opinion, I can pretty much confirm Justin's take on the Dinc4. I had the Dinc2 for quite a while and absolutely loved it (now my dad loves it.) I was predisposed to the Dinc4 because the form factor of the Dinc2 was perfect. Once I noticed Justin had the phone and knew it would have great ROMs, that sealed the deal. My phone arrived THE DAY HTC removed it from their unlock tool :'(
So after 3 months with the Dinc4, I'm a little baffled by the amount of negative reviews on this phone. The screen is fantastic, the camera is outstanding, and the phone (stock) is smooth and responsive. The latest update made it even better. Battery life is great. If you like your Dinc2 as much as I did and aren't looking for a phablet size device, I think this is a great upgrade.
Cheers.
+1 I just got mine and I love it. Except for the lack of root, but like nits said that will be available in the near future. The form of the phone reminds me of the og inc and I loved that lil guy
if root ever becomes available for it, i might look around to trade my dinc2 + some cash maybe, for one. dinc2 is my first Android based phone and I really love it. I even liked it on stock, but root is just amazing lol
We're told root is coming soon
Once the s-off tool is released, i'm sure root will accompany root.

yeah, just fastboot a recovery and flash a superuser package and youre set (post s-off)
I think just maybe HTC threw the dinc4g a bone. They have supported the android underground in the past. They still would if very greedy wireless hadn't stepped in.
It makes sense to me, that they released an update knowing full well that we could exploit it.
Anyone else think the same?
