[Q] Phone Reboots - HTC One X

I rooted my phone and tried coredroid but decided that i preferred the stock rom and everything in it so decided to flash back. I had made a nandroid backup, so flashed it, and restored the recovery and relocked the device, however. now when trying to select music to play or to try and change the ringtone, the phone will crash and reboot. this happens every time, am downloading the RUU now to see if that will fix it, but does anyone have any ideas, any help would be much appreciated

i experienced that before and it was late when i realized it was because of the boot.img that you flashed from the custom rom, since you restored back to stock rom your boot.img file your using is still the custom rom that you used, try to post from the thread of coredroid and ask for the boot.img to be flashed for you to use your stock rom and remove the restart issues

Just extract the boot.img from your nandroid backup and flash it via fastboot (you'll need to unlock your bootloader again if you've already relocked it)

THANKS!!!
OMG thanks it worked, i dunno why the CWM didnt flash the boot.img as well, anyway it works now, thanks both of you for the help

CWM can't write to the boot partition without S-OFF, which is why you have to manually flash a boot.img through fastboot when you install a new ROM. But it also means you have to do the same thing when restoring a backup.

Hi guys. trying to restore back to my backup stock rom. then want to update via OTA. So i restored back but i am stuck on HTC quietely brilliant screen.
I can get into HBOOT. any ideas on please what i need to do to get this working again please?
Thanks
You can get to Recovery from HBOOT surely? Just scroll down one.
You need to flash stock boot.img as nandroid restore will not restore the stock boot.img. You're still on the last boot.img that you flashed, that is why it is stuck on splash/bootloop

If you have CWM's latest recovery then you should be able to flash a different custom rom, boot the phone into recovery and mount USB storage, copy over the new rom, unmount storage and format the system, data, cache and davik cache and then install rom..... you will need to flash the boot.img for the rom from fastboot before it will boot.
If you instructions on going back to stock then look at my sig or look in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1735930&page=3
Edit: Upon doing a quick search it seams that RUU version isn't available yet, only way for you currently is to flash a custom rom.

Thnx for the reply mate, however i am not on a custom firmware..infact i just rooted my phone with one click rooting method and post which the phone was rebooting everytime i was playing any music file.
So i went to the recovery and tried clearing cache/sdcard/system/etc but that didn't help, then i tried formatting the sdcard/system and post that my phone is stuck on the boot screen.
Since then..i've been trying many things, infact i also tried to flash the stock recovery...which happened successfully but sadly the phone did not boot. Man what to do?

You formatted the system partition, which is where all the files for your phone were located (so all the system files have been deleted..... you should have really taken a backup of the phone before doing anything to it); you need to flash the latest CWM recovery from HERE
and then download and install a custom ROM onto your phone as the RUU that you need is not yet available.

for first link: Thats only the "Over The Air" update file, you still need a working stock rom'd phone to flash it.
for second link: That should be fine to install onto your phone once you have the CWM Recovery flashed onto your phone, remember to also flash over the boot.img file before you try and boot the phone.... otherwise it just wont boot

[Q] Stuck in Bootloader - Please help

Hi Guys
Wondering if you can help, I have checked other threads with similar titles but to no avail for my problem in which I post.
I was moving from leedriod extreme rom to viper rom.
I made the mistake of flashing the boot.img zip file rather than just the .img file.
This keeps putting me into the an unlocked bootloader, I have gone to my cwm recovery as i backed up prior to doing so, however when I restore and it completes it, I reboot and it still goes to bootloader, I tried an older restore point and I get the same.
could anyone please help me?
Many thanks
Mick
Have you tried reflashing boot.IMG ?
Sent from my HTC One X
Reflash the boot.img and you should be fine, if all fails run the RUU.
Hi and thank you for your replies.
I tried flashing the boot img with the flasher that the viper rom comes with, however kept saying failed.
I have since locked and unlocked the boot locker
locked as i wanted to run the stock rom and unlocked due to not having enough battery.
I amm currently carrying out the battery .bat mod in which it charges it up every 6 seconds.
Would you suggest I try again with the boot.img file or just go straight to stock rom?
p.s. i have latest cwm and left it on charge and it did not charge, is this related?
I will get there said:

Have you tried wiping dalvik cache?
Hi Bossman
Yes tried wipe dalvik cache also full factory reset too!
Maybe the boot.img is corrupted? Try re-downloading.
How did you flash your boot.img? You should just extract the zip file and use their bat file to flash.
After that, re-install re-install the rom again. should be resolved.
1. Go into fastboot mode on phone
2. Load up command prompt and execute fastboot erase cache
3. Reflash boot.img
4. Flash Superwipe from ARHD thread
5. Reflash LeeDroid
Should work..

Flashed android rev hd rom 12 now in boot loop!
I followed the guide and flashed the boot.img first but keeps on boot looping. I have flashed rooms before on previous android phones so have a bit of experience. My version number starts 2.17 maybe I am missing something.
Any help is much appreciated
Thanks
You need to flash the new firmware first. With that you need compatible CID.
If you don´t wanna flash the new firmware use ARHD 9.72.
Hello and thanks for the replies. I may of read the instructions wrong bit I thought it said flash boot img then run superwipe and then flash the rom from CWM. my cid is VODAP001 and wanted the jb Rom. Is 9.7.2 jb? I was thinking of going back to stock ruu but dont think it has been released yet as cannot find my version. When I rooted the phone when it was on stock I made a backup via Rom manager but even when I try to run this in CWM it states files not found!
Sorry to be a pain your help is much appreciated

Your phone is branded and therefore you cannot flash JB Sense ROMs, 9.7.2 is Ice cream sandwich.
u can have jb only when ur operator release it. what for official update from htc for ur model(cid)
now if u have backup of ur stock rom , just restore it. and if it is still bootlooping flash stock kernel modules.

thanks for your reply on this. I cannot restore my backup as when I enter CWM recovery either manually or by rom manager and locate the backup I have made it will not restore. When i try to restore it just states files not found!! I have checked on the phone SD storage and it is clearly there but for whatever reason it won't restore. Not sure what else I can do now. If I have to wait for my carrier Vodafone to release the official OTA jellybean update that's fine I will do that no problem, but how can I get back to stock rom? I have checked and there is no official RUU for my version yet so I cannot get back to stock and wait for the official OTA update even if I wanted too.
Maybe I am missing something i'm not sure but if you could help that would be much appreciated
thanks again
Dont Worry!
Just Go to Recovery and mount ur sd card.
Put Someother ROM(ICS) and its boot.img and flash that

Hello
Thanks for your help. Just to clarify, I have the ARHD 9.72 (ICS) ROM on my SD card along with the superwipe that i was advised to run before flashing this ROM. With regards to boot.img it was advised to run this via fastboot type command before then running superwipe and then flashing the rom via CWM. Do i need to perform this boot.img via fastboot command before mounting the SD card and then flashing the ROM?
thanks

That's exactly what happened to me two days ago.. flashed the 12.0, then boot looped, then flashed the recovery but the stock rom boot looped too and my pc wouldn't recognize the phone so I adb pushed 9.7.2 and flashed it but it boot looped as well, so what I did was to download HTC SYNC and have the drivers, then flash boot.img first and then flash the rom, still didn't work so I tried the opposite - first flash the rom and only then flash the boot.img, and IT WORKED!!!!!

[Q] HTC One X Restor Failure - Not Loading

Hi. First of all congratulations on you exceptional work and great forum, I am a frequent reader!
Since yesterday when I turned it on I have not network connection on my phone (HTC One X). I tried the same sim card on a different device and it works, so I guess is something with the device, not the SIM or the carrier. As I recently (2 months ago) rooted and installed a custom ROM (cyanogenmod) following this tutorial (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660807) I thought it could be something with the ROM and tried to went back to my original HTC version (before I install the cyanogenmod version I did what I think is a backup of my original ROM).
As it says in the tutorial I am using teamwin recovery project, so I used this software to backup, install the new ROM and now I am trying to restore the backup, but it is not working - it looks like it completes restore with success, then I reeboot the phone and it stays forever in the HTC splash screen...
Can anyone please help me with that?
Thanks!
Just a note: before it reboots the phone it says you device does not appear to be rooted and prompt me to install SuperSU now. I tryed it both doing it and not, dont know if it helps.

Thanks robchongke!
So I instaled the SuperSU (I still had it on a folder in the phone), then I went into restore, selected the older folder (which should countain my original ROM), all the process went ok with no errors in the console (restore completed in 149), then restart (again asking if I want to root my phone or not), I said no this time and then the same is happening, the phone starts with but stays forever in the splash screen. When you say "dont forget to flash the backup´s boot.img also what do you mean exaclty? You mean in the restoring screen, after select the backup folder, select both Boot and System? That's is selected by default so I just "swipe to restore"...
Thank you for you help!

you have to flash the boot.img so it wont bootloop. if you have a copy of your backup in your computer copy the boot.img and place it inside your fastboot folder if you do not have a copy you can mount your phone in recovery. boot into bootloader then enter this command in command prompt.
fastboot flash boot boot.img
flash erase cache.

Oh that's a different think then... Thank you very much for your reply! Meanwhile I installed the ROM I had in my folder again - the version I installed first - and it worked fine and I have phone signal again! So everything is solved, not with the first solution I thought, but at least is working now. Now the pain of get all the apps installed again and configure everything...
Anyway, thank you very much robchongke, your help was great and I am sure if I had the knowledge to follow your instructions I would have the stock version installed right now.
