I bought a ago steinhel flex and I put it on my phone but after only two days one corner has been lifted I don't know what went wrong, I bought it specifically because I read wet protectors don't lift up on the edges :/ . I'm guessing is because I have a Neo hybrid sgp case which has really tight borders.
I just ordered a sgp ultra hybrid which borders fit a little looser on the phone, what do you say should I buy another steinhel flex? Or maybe try the sgp oleophobic which is supposed to be smaller, but it is a dry application which people here are not fans of, maybe try the xo skins case fit?

Tpu cases usually work well. Try diztronics revision 3.
let it be.
the 6 for a dollar ones I get from eBay doesn't interfere with any of my cases. I always suggest those.

it's a common problem for phones whose screens are almost in line with the bezel and if you have a case that covers the bezel. the only solution i saw is to use a smaller protector so the corners of the case would not touch the corners of the protector so it prevents lifting.

the man who's post i will forever keep in my sig. hahaha. good you mentioned that. i didn't actually use my diztronic protector as i have a capdase klia on my gnex. but since it's cut between the size of the actual screen and the one that sgp makes, it seems to not give me any peeling off issues. i guess i'll just keep my free diztronic protector then. hehehe
chances are you have the full screen version if you got the rev3 case. i think the almost to the edge sp's were shipped with earlier versions of the tpu.
i have the full screen xoskins using my diztronic. it doesn't lift the corners or anything!

I agree with you. I used to waste money on "premium" wet and dry screen protectors but I end up going back to cheap plasticy screen protectors lol. They are so easy to apply, no yellow peel, no draggy feeling and I can just replace them any time I want with peace of mind

Haha, yeah exactly! I used to get mad at myself for spending like 14-15 bucks on those wet application types... And only for it to peel off and make the screen look ugly.
I was so mad today. I bought the xo screen protector and had it on for 2 days. I decided to go for a jog and used my arm band case. After the run I tried to remove it from the arm band case, the plastic on the case stuck on the glass of the phone so tight it actually lifted the screen protector while I was trying to remove it so it got ruined. Just a heads up for those getting those "wet application" protectors. Ordered those plasticy clingy ones right after.

1+ Also, tried most of the wet applied ones and these are a lot nicer, no orange peel to worry about with these.

So when i first got the phone i had the vzw rep throw a anti-glare protector on it, but it really lost the clarity of the screen. I then went to a SGP flex, and if you didn't know this is a water based protector. Install went well, got the thing damn near perfect after two attempts. All the airbubbles were out, but was told it would take a few days to "cure". After close to a week on the screen protector the resolution looks horrible because of the orange peel. It almost looks like finger nail marks ALL over the whole screen. Anybody else experience the sgp for the worse? For $18 they should hold up a whole lot better than this.
I do like the feel of the protector, but thats where the love ends. Im blown away with how bad protector held up.
agreed, i found it just as bad as the zagg. i didnt mind how much oil it retains but the oils + the orange peel really soured me. im on an XO right now and i can feel the rubberiness (sp?) starting to fade. this applied excellently for me no orange peel but is real hard to clean

But the dry one doesn't offer edge to edge coverage. The Flex might look bad, but it feels great, with a glassy smoothness that belies its textural downside.
I guess that is a downside, but if you pair up the protector with a good case thatll slightly lip over, you cant even see the end of the protector.

Im rocking an Incipio case from verizon. Maybe i will look at dif. protectors, not covering the whole screen isn't a big deal for me.
The feel on the SGP is great but oh my the orange peel. My friends that are into phones just laugh when they see this screen protector. Who would of thought, I heard Steinheil are the best you can buy.
I vote for Verizon crystal clear screen protector. It's simply beautiful (with the silicon case to cover-up the gap).
Hello,
Do you recommend Belkin Anti-Glare Screen protector for SGS2? (if you have used it) If not, which screen protector do you recommend? The most important thing for me: It nearly shouldn't have any affect on touch screen sensitivity.
Thanks.
You see im in the camp of whats the point of a screen protector, adding another layer to screen. I just use a cheap clam flip case to keep the screen safe. Only just had S2 but never had a screen protector on my sgs for over year and never got a mark on it

I'm using a basic silicon case. Flip cases are protecting well but having a flap hanging around while using the phone is a little bit annoying for me. I want to use it because, Gorilla Glass screen is just scratch resistant, not scratch-proof. There are many people reporting scratches after just daily use. Also Anti-Glare films making the screen easier to slide, especially in games like Fruit Ninja

OK, I will be glad if you let me know about it. It looks fine. But I couldn't find any local online shop selling Estoc protectors. So, i think I'm going to buy this one tomorrow:

I will write about it.
I have tried the SGP ultra oleophobic, and this worked well for 2 weeks, but after that it would start to attract oil, ... the opposite of what it was supposed to do, the plus side is that it doesn't have tint and the screen looks good. I am now going to try the Halo screen protector. Let us know how you screen protector turns out.
I really like the one that comes with the otterbox for the S2.
it's easy to put on and fits perfectly!
hope this helps
Definitely Zagg invisibleSHIELD.
I couldn't find them locally either. GMarket was the only place I could find them online, I split the cost of shipping with a few other people from XDA.

zagg is a good brand/product ... but the invisible shield, like chrisjcks said, is not smooth which affect the touch response cause of that tacky feel of it
Received the 3M Estoc screen protector today. It's quite solid, and enables you to 'buff out' minor scratches & dings on the protector. This is due to a coating on the protector itself that obviously wears away over a period of time. It comes with a 49873 page encyclopedia with instructions on how to fit (due to having instructions in 192 different languages). The package contains the protector itself, a microfibre cleaning cloth, a cardboard thingy to smooth out the bubbles when you fit the protector and a few dust removal stickers.
Fitting was no more difficult or different to any other screen protector, just a case of making sure the screen is perfectly clean/free of dust, then slowly/carefully applying it to the screen & smoothing out the bubbles as you go.
This is a good protector if you're using a bumper case & don't have your screen covered, it will easily handle being in a pocket with other items & should protect the screen quite well. It will probably last at least a couple of months (maybe more, depending on how rough you are with your phone) if you use your phone like this. As I use a flip case, it will probably be good for much longer than this, as the face of the phone won't be exposed to the lining of pockets, keys, loose change, etc, etc.
Now to the question of value. Is it worth the ~$25 or so ? Compared to the $15 protector I had on my phone previously, and given I use a flip case which protects the screen anyways, probably not. I doubt I'll be spending another $25 on one of these when it comes time to get a new screen protector.
But if you're someone who uses bumper cases/etc & likes having a 'nudie' screen, I'd definitely recommend these. Obviously if you only order one from GMarket the shipping will make it a fairly expensive exercise, but you could always order more than one/some other stuff from that site, or find someone on XDA to go dutch on the postage who lives in your country like I did (thanks to Victaaaa for same )
The Zagg invisibleSHIELD is the best in my opinion, uses a fluid that facilitates the placement may be withdrawn and placed if things do not go well the first time, this has the orange peel effect but this in no way affects the image or touch . I used it in the first SGS for 1 year and now I'm using it in SGSll about 8 months.
i recommend sgp ultra crystal too...i am using for 5 months and i have no problem at all...fully satisfied.
Thanks for all recommendations. I couldn't have any time to buy one yet; but I hope I'm going to buy this weekend from a store near here. I'm going to buy Belkin, if I can't find it I will prefer SGP or Zagg.

I use SGP Ultra Crystal and so far so good.
Zagg is probably the worse of all of them because of its tacky-ness. Also its scratch healing properties wear off after a month or so. The best is the 3M Estoc+ followed by SGP or RG Japan.
sgp ultra, solid choice in my opinion.. can't go wrong
I recommend SGP ultra crystal film or 3M estoc
What screen protectors for the SGS3 are perfectly smooth and transparentr? The screen protector I have on my current phone (BB) is slightly "frosted" or textured which messes with the pixels on the screen. It does make it easier to swipe and does not attract dust or fingerprints, but I would rather have a screen protector that is perfectly clear for the SGS3. What are some good ones?
just look for clear/crystal vs. matte (the "frosted" you have)

Go with SGP Ultra Crystal Screen protectors if you are looking for something that looks and feels like glass. No rubber feeling to it like some skins, and as the product name states, they are crystal clear. I have used Zagg, BodyGaurdz, Skinomi, etc, but I always go back to SGP Ultra series protectors because of how they feel, and protect the screen. Not to mention, it is a dry install, no water or spray to mess with and no bubbles.
I just ordered mine from Amazon yesterday for $13 + free shipping. Don't have my SGIII yet, but I have been used SGP covers on my SG, and SGII. Excellent protectors.
Thanks for this share. I've tried all you mentioned. Waiting for my new SGS3 also!

+1 for the SGP Ultra Crystal, EXCEPT they've been discontinued - I've got one on mine and have the problem they've noted (there's another thread for this) - the way the screen curves, the edges don't seal. Spigen is replacing them with the Nano, to be out soon, I think. I'll be ok leaving it on until then, but you might want to hold off.

I've had my Nexus since the 5th, no case/no scratches. I keep mine in a sleeve with fleece inside, I learned last time w/ my n4 that if you just put it in your pocket the glass will scratch from sand/dust/anything that may be in your pocket.. so I don't take chances anymore.
Everytime i didnt protect my phonescreen it had ended up with significant scratches so i would say yes
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
The best way to decide is to judge from your experience.
If you aim to prevent scratches:
Think about your last phone. You used a screen protector.
Did you change your screen protector? When you noticed that the protector have scratches on it, were you annoyed?
If you find out you actually don't care much about the minor scratches on the film, and you don't plan on selling your phone, you probably don't need one.
The glass is much more scratch resistant than any screen protector. If you can stand those scratches on the protector, you can stand those rare and minor ones on the glass. Save money and enjoy the glass.
Just remember, never place your phone face down, nor wipe it with a dirty cloth. The sand particles will scratch the screen.
Of course, if deep scratches regularly appear in your case, you might want screen protectors.
On the other hand, there are protectors which tries to prevent the screen from cracking. I would recommend those if you don't want a case.
A case with raised lips is already very effective at preventing scratches/shatter as it keeps the screen away from the ground.
installed a skinomi screen and body protecting film, love it, love it, love it. Doesn't do much for drops, otherwise awesome product and adds the perfect amount of grip. This was an issue for me having the white version.
I prefer the Zagg screen protectors from Best Buy and I'll pay them the extra money to install it. The few times I have installed them on my own I get dust or fingerprints, those guys install thousands and in my opinion are worth paying to take the hassle out of it

Yes...but which one? Since 11-4 I've stayed with the screen protector from the factory. Tired of looking through the "nexus5," I'll decide today which one to use in its place. Any suggestions? The list is:
UltraClear that came with the Spigen Ultra Hybrid
TechArmor HD Clear (3-pack)
iSmooth Ultra Clear (3-pack)
XtremeGuard Full Body (2pc) - damaged in shipment, so this one is out
I don't understand why anybody would consider not using a screen protector. IMO it's cheap insurance. Properly installed, you don't even know they are there. You get fingerprints either way you go.
It's a no brainer for me.

Thanks. Whichever I select for now, it's merely a placeholder until early December when I can get my hands on the new Spigen glas.tr nano slim.
I had a screen protector on my Amaze for about the first 2 months. Then it looked absolutely terrible with scrapes and bubbles and crap. Plus I hated the tactile feel. So I took it off and for the last year and a half I've gone naked. The screen has no marks of any kind on it. If my N5 ever gets here I'll be putting on a Cruizerlite case but no screen protector.

I have used the wet apply ones in the past (Zagg, Bodyguardz, and Skinomi). They all seem a bit sticky when swiping across them. The Zagg while being the priciest do remain scratch free better than the other two brands.
Recently I've decided to just use the cheaper multi packs and as I've said, the Spigen linked above works for me. I do see micro scratches on the protector when I LOOK for them in direct sunlight but the clarity is still very good.
I see no point in spending so much for a screen protector when I'll get a new Nexus phone next year

I used to hate the plastic static or sticky type multi pack screen protectors until figuring out it should be installed in a bathroom after steaming it up to reduce dust. You can lift the screen protector and use a piece of Scotch tape to remove the dust.
Curious to see how many G3 owners are using a screen protector or planning to use a screen protector.
I stopped using one on my Nexus 4 and was very happy with it. Over 1 year of use without a screen protector and the screen was flawless. However, I've had my Nexus 5 for about 6 months now without a screen protector and my screen now has 2 deep scratches (you can feel them with your finger and see them in just about any lighting).
Because of my experience with the Nexus 5 screen I'm back to considering going the screen protector route again. However, I'm curious to see what others are thinking regarding the issue.
I should also mention that it is important to me that a screen protector works with a case. I already ordered a TPU case which I plan to use with the phone. Do those glass screen protectors typically work with TPU cases?
Yes and the Spigen nano tempered glass is by far my favorite one.

No problem, I have always enjoyed tempered glass. I have yet to have a case where it didn't fit. Since the Spigen nano glass is very thin and it has rounded bezels you won't notice it at all. It also fits almost with maybe < .5mm gap on the left and right side. I had an op with my F400 showing the fit with some cases.

It will fit and the QC case doesn't cover the edge of the phone, even if it did I don't see any issues. In any case here is the OP.

we are hijacking his question but I remember reading this case couldn't close with an plastik screen protector (the case wouldn't close) if you have answer send me message because the mods hate people hijacking treads
That's weird, I've used other similar ones on my note and old s3 without issuem maybe LG maybe the tolerances tighter on it. I agree let's get back on topic.

The poll should probably have 2 no's - one that says "but using a case" and one that says "and no case".
I personally dislike the look and extra bulk of cases as well as screen protectors.
No worries about hijacking guys. I'm trying to learn what I can about protective options for this phone anyway.
I gave up on screen protectors a while back but I do not want the G3's screen to end up with the same scratches my Nexus 5 did. I've never tried using a tempered glass screen protector but I've heard great things about them.
I think I'll follow your recommendation and order the Spigen Nano protector tomorrow. I love the idea of having a screen protector that is bubble free. The bubbles and raised edges are why I gave up on screen protectors previously. I imagine the tempered glass one will solve those issues.
EDIT: Is this the Spigen protector you were talking about? $30 seems steep. How long does it last?

Just ordered that Spigen Glass.tR Nano tempered glass protector. It's pricy and you only get one so I really hope I don't screw up the installation.
I may change my mind and get a glass protector. They're a lot thinner than they were last time I checked (years ago). The Joto one looks good spec wise. It's the thinnest I've seen at .2mm, assuming they didn't just round it down.

Edit: Actually the i-Blason is just as thin and half the price. It's only 8H compared to 9H with the Joto. Not sure if that difference really will matter. It also doesn't state that it's rounded.

if you manage align the screen protector you sould not worry just follow the step by step tutorial that is includded
Roger that!
Bumping this now that more people are receiving their phones. I got the Spigen glass protector installed. I like it a lot but I already know that if something happens to it such as the corners lifting or something, I know I'll feel the bare screen again and likely won't go with another screen protector.
I've never used a screen protector on any of my devices but I feel like I need to for this one. I ordered a flexible glass protector by iloome and some other cheap one to practice with.

Yes i do use screen protectors.
I ordered 10 screen protectors from eBay for €6,- (around $8,-)
Screen protectors will not protect your screen from cracks if you drop your phone on your screen.
But they prevent scratches like a boss.
You might find ones that protect your screen from cracks, but they will cost you a lot.
And they will add height and they might disturb the responsiveness from of your touchscreen.
The cheap ones will do just fine, they might take scratches more easily than the ones that cost $10.
But if you got a scratch on your screen protector you want to change it anyway (i am the type of person that gets irritated and annoyed by scratches on my beautiful screen).
So why spend a lot of money on something that you will change every few months anyway? You should not
Never used a screen protector, never had a screen get scratched. No plans to start.
I'll be using one from now. Phone took a fall from a foot off the ground. Landed screen down and shattered :crying: The screen on the G3 seems incredibly fragile. Ordered the Spigen GLAS.tR today hoping it may help prevent this on my replacement.

Screen protector likely wouldn't have helped.
