What does this mean?!?
If you are banging your head because something is preventing that root or hack from working and this error pops up, maybe this can help.
I had a program called, "BlueStacks" running on my PC which is in fact an emulator that allows me to run Android Apps on my PC. However, when you are working with roots, it is a horrible program to have running in the background.
Quick Fix: Exit out of Bluestacks and start the root again. It will run smoothly now.
Also: If you have any other programs like BlueStacks that allow you to run droid apps on your pc, good idea to shut them down too.
Hope this cures for you, what was a BIG problem for me.
thank you!!
i´ve looked for something about 200google results, have read some complete threads(my mean-language is german- not real fun also) for rooting my phone...
i was so fu**ing angry about this crappy programs (surely i´ve tried everyone i could find) i´ve restartet everything and thinked about to setting windows back to XP
yeah, and now i get the solution...
its so easy, and aboslutely logical.

so, this is all i wanted to say - THANK YOU.

This Mod is flashed through CWM to enable 2 simple all-in-one commands to Freeze/Defrost SNS, DRM, and System Updates. Downloads at the end of this post. Read on to learn what they do and how to easily use them!
Fully Flash-able Test Version HERE
Freeze SNS, DRM, and System Updates for Better Battery
These services are, generally, best kept frozen 99.9% of the time. Not deleted, as I've experienced problems if they are actually removed, but disabling them saves me noticeable battery life.
You can use Titanium Pro, MyToolbox, ,Bloat Freezer, or Mybackup Pro to freeze services, but that's only after you've installed a rom. Then once you boot in, you have to buy and download that app, and then navigate a huge list of services to freeze.
But it only takes one line of code per service you want to freeze. That's right, the following commands can be entered into a terminal like Terminal Emulator to disable these processes:
Code:
su [I](Gains root)[/I]
pm disable com.sec.android.providers.drm [I](Disables DRM launcher)[/I]
pm disable com.sec.android.app.sns [I](Disables sns)[/I]
pm disable com.samsung [I](Disables updates)[/I]
However, these commands are lengthy, not easily memorized, and just a pain to write. The best solution I can come up with is to simplify the commands.
[Note] You do not want to do this if you don't understand how freezing these services may affect your day-day use. This will save some battery at the definite cost of DRM content functionality and Facebook Contact integration.
How To Use This Mod:
Still using Terminal Emulator, after you flash one of the linked .zip files, all you will have to type is the following:
To Freeze Services:
Code:
su
superfreeze
To Defrost Services:
Code:
su
superdefrost
DOWNLOADS:
If you like my work, click the Thanks button or donate a beer!
I am still in the works to make this work entirely solo once flashed from CWM.
PS: If you're looking for a free alternative to any of the apps I listed up above, this isn't it. This is only one small, dedicated part of those apps. I highly recommend buying one of them, you'll find them very useful.
PPS: This mod, and subsequent versions of it(hopefully!), is for the Epic 4G. I cannot guarantee that the script is accurate to any other phone. But the commands themselves are universal across Android.
Thanks to paulobrien for his explanation found here!
I can't answer you script question, but I have one of my own. Are those commands permanent, or will I have to type those in everytime I turn my phone back on? I'm assuming the latter, since you want to be able to do it easier.

These commands are indeed permanent on reboot. Pm Disable is exactly the function apps like Titanium use when "freezing" services. The goal is, I would like these commands to be executed while my rom is installing. I used a similar .zip file as a skeleton for the layout, but I'm just not sure what additional coding is required to make this work. I'm 99.9% positive it can be done.
Oh ok. So I now don't have to disable the drm or sns anymore. Cool, if I ever needed to re-enable them, what would I type in?
Sent from the only thing i need.
Surprisingly logical, you just have to type enable instead of disable.

It's a shame, it'd be nice to have a rom install with some services like this disabled by default. Then there could be a matching patch to re-enable them if needed.

I'm guessing that the Android runtime system has to be fully initialized and running for the pm command to work, and it's not in the limited runtime of the recovery environment.

That seems to be the problem, because I've gotten the tiny files themselves to run in the terminal, which is at least useful for streamlining this operation! But I can't get them to do anything in recovery, it just has no effect.
So I have come to the conclusion that this cannot be done from CWM due to reasons I've explained in post #1.
However, I have posted a workaround CWM flash-able which, still using Terminal Emulator, simplifies the commands down to 2 simple codes.
UPDATE: Turned out I posted bad .zip files with out of date updater scripts. The links have been fixed and should work as described in Post #1!

Yup, kinda! The guys that wrote apps to freeze services deserve a lot of credit. They are fairly easy to use in bulk.
I wish I could make this automatic, but this way I only have to type two easily memorized commands to stop/start the 3 services I hate most!
UPDATE: Mediafire mirror links posted for when megaupload wants to be wonky.
You might be able to make this fully automatic with tasker. There is an option "device boot," there is the ability to launch an app, and to type, then close the app. Might look a little sloppy, but it should definitely work. I'll try it and report back later today.
EDIT: Works like a charm. For the Context, go into Event, System, Device Boot. For the Tasks, choose App, Load App, Terminal Emulator, then Input, Type, enter the text, then choose Input, Button, Back twice to close out of the app, as the Kill command will just restart it.
For what it's worth, there must be a way to have an application start off as disabled, because that's how CIQ starts, as far as I know. Perhaps the dev of the paid application Autostarts can shed some light on it for you.

Thats a nifty trick! Now I could patch Tasker and it's data into the rom itself. Now here's the question, is Tasker a persistently running battery draining service?

That may be true, but SNS, Updates, and DRM have to run consistently. Unlike some certain apps that run non-stop for no reason.
Just make the zip add a file to init.d that executes the command on next boot then deletes itself...

I actually tried that, but the command "pm disable" just doesn't do anything from recovery for me. Unless I'm not calling for a function I need or something. Still toying around with it. I even tried to just patch it into one of the existing init.d files, but still no result.
Update: I'm a noob at developing. I can roughly understand existing script enough to rearrange it, but if somethings missing, I probably can't spot it. Haha
I read an article about Blood and Glory and went to the market to search for it. I would not show up. I went back to the article and it had one of those barcode things, I scanned it and found the game. I downloaded it then realized it was like 37 megs but decided what the heck and let it finish. I noticed at the top it had a black bar that said the app was not compatible with my deivce. I tried it anyway when it finished and it actually plays very nice. Great graphics and runs smooth.
Now why would they say its not compatible but it seems to run fine. Are there other apps/games out there that I/we may be missing out on that will actually work on our phones? Just wondering if anyone has tried it to confirm that it also runs fine on their phones.
Jim Weda
If it says that its not compatible, how come the market let you download it? Or did you sideload...
Sent from my E10i using XDA App
When I scanned the barcode at the website I found the article at it gave me the option to open in browser. It took me to the Market. Here's the link if you want to see if it takes you there also. First try to do a search on your phone and see if it shows up. If not, scan the barcode at this website or if you want just go to this link for the market.
Barcode: http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/1...ng-blood-glory-is-infinity-blade-for-android/
Direct Market Link: https://market.android.com/details?...51bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5nbHUuZ2xhZGlhdG9yX25yIl0.
I did just do a search on the Market using a web browser on my computer and it did show up but I on my phone when I saw this app.
Either way, when you get to the app page at the Market it says "This app is incompatible with all of your devices." At least it does on my Epic 4G. Give it a shot and see what it does on your phone or computer. On my phone I just hit download without reading anything because I saw the video on the resourced website. It started downloading. See if you can download it on your phone and see what happens. It should download if it did on mine. I can even take a pic of my phone to show that it is on there and I can load the app.
I've never tried downloading an up that says its not compatible with my phone. Maybe you can download it but it just won't work but for some reason this huge app does work on my phone. Let me know your results.
Jim
Doesn't show up on market search for me. The direct market link you provided works but it will not allow me to download it. I tried loading the page with wifi both on and off, though I haven't tried pushing it from the desktop site.
Looks pretty awesome btw!
Did you try using using the Barcode Scanner, choose "open browser" and then just click the download button right away?
This is the scanner app I used: https://market.android.com/details?...mNvbS5nb29nbGUuenhpbmcuY2xpZW50LmFuZHJvaWQiXQ..
after the scanner picked up the code I saw the open browser option and it let me download it.
I'm really just trying to understand why I was able to download it but other people can't. I'm going to try it again but try it on the one that is not [R] and will post back here.
Jim
I tried doing the same thing with the one that is less gruesome or bloody I guess and it won't let me download that one. This is really weird. Anyone know of any other apps that should not be compatible with the Epic 4G. I'd like to try and see if I can download any of those as well.
Also, is there a way I can upload a small video to show that it does work on my phone. I will do a short video with no cuts or breaks and show the phone itself, go into the system info to show I'm running the new GB 2.3.5 update and click on the Blood and Glory app and show that it play fine.
I just tried, no go. Looks l like a good game though.

dtruth313, would mind telling me why your Epic is not running the same update as the one pushed to us? I've been pushed EI22, 2.3.5 but yours is EG22, 2.3.4. Rooted or just a better update. With the Sprint logo I'm guessing you work there. My udate did a great job fixing my phone after constant headaches and pretty much a worthless since Aug 2011. Had a couple lock ups and minor reboots/shutdown but what seems to be cosistent cache build up every 2-4 hours and anywhere from 1 mg to 10 mg roughly which I have to wipe clean manually. I am not roote and don't like task killers. Been doing that since the update and can't pinpoint it to any one particular thing.
I started with clean phone since update and was adding one or two apps at a time to see if that was the culprit but it doesn't seem to be the case. Haven't heard of anyone else colpaining about . Any ideas of what might be causing that? Any help would be appreciated. Maybe I should create a thead to see if mine is an isolated case since all three phone I went through on {royo were total nightmares. Gingerbread is the only reason I'm still considering sticking around with Sprint a little longer.
Sorry to go off track but hey, I strted this thread. =)
Jim Weda
jimweda I am running the same update. ei22 gb 2.3.5. I apologize my signature is wrong I have not update it. But I have just started saw it in my market saying not compatible with device. Also it starts to freezes and now after I post it is no longer in the market.
I didn't really play the game, I didn't run into this incompatibility thing you all are. I played the game, it ran fine for the most part. Froze and Crashed one time.
Just played it again, ran fine. Looks pretty great, seems pretty repetitive.
What's with the Glu game starting up and running for no reason? Its creepy I hate any program that thinks it can just start up. I liked Gun Bros but it really pissed me off & the people at Glu never answer emails
Sent from the Drivers Seat of my Suby txting and Driving doing 100MPH+ in a school zone! Ha.
I downloaded the game from the market. I use chainfire 3d so that's maybe why I was able to download it.
I sideloaded it. (free game on market) got it to install, and it works great. somewhat fun....got boring real quick. it also gave me the not compatible in the market. I can't find a reason for it to be not compatible at all....maybe rooted rom? (cleanGB)

Dammit...I guess this would've worked before MegaUpload got nailed and FileSonic flipped the f*** out and cancelled any file-sharing ability.
I even tried nabbing this game from Getjar. It also seems to think my Epic 4G is incompatible. The thing I don't understand is that I've been able to download and play this game before. Why would it end up being "incompatible" out of the blue?
I have it running it perfectly on my epic (cm7 and cm9)..you have to download the game from an online site..go to google..look up the current version in the market and google search it...the game runs perfectly finebut it constantly gets updates..whenever the game gets an update, you can't play the game..you are forced to update it in the market...which is impossible so I have to constantly play on airplane mode or google search for an updated version...the game is ok but really repetitive.
p.s. google search the name of "the game", the version and add "apk" at the end....or go to "4shared.com" and look it up
I just downloaded the apk, and then it played fine.... until it said I need to update it (which I couldnt)
not compatible with device
I get not compatible with device when i access the market via phone or computer. So I downloaded the apk from a file share and place it on my sd card via usb and computer. I then installed the game and all is good
Available in the Amazon App store!
I downloaded this game yesterday from the Amazon App store and it works! No messages of incompatibility!
One thing problem that many of us have with ROMS for our device is the constant force closes. As I was searching through the Asus transformer Pad Infinity forums, I came across a Memory management mod, which tweaks the heck out of the memory management, which in turn gives better multitasking, no force closes (I have only tried in on paranoid) and a bit better battery life since apps are not constantly hugging the ram. (I have now tried it on HO!NO!’s port of The Unicorn Rom (Sorry I forget the name) and I have noticed the speed difference.

+ Make sure you only have one launcher installed. It optimizes that launcher with the memory for maximum speed and stability
*Go to the Play Store and download SManager, which installs script files. If you cannot download it from Play Store, then side load it.
*Download the "SuperCharger_Starter_Kit_RC9.zip" (no its not flash able. you have to extract it)
*Once it is downloaded, and extracted, given if you are in a computer, put the extracted folder onto your SD card. (If you are doing it on a phone, download the file from the link and extract it with your program of reference. I use Root Explorer)
*Then download “V6_SuperCharger_for_Android-Update9_RC10.sh.pdf” –This is not an actual PDF file. Do not open it with your PDF software as it will not work.
Put that file in the root of your SD card.
Go to SManager and look for the SuperCharger Starter Kit File. Once located, tap on StartMeUp.sh. A window should pop up and at the top it says Run. Before you hit the run button, make sure that SU Skull turns green. (Achieve green skull by tapping the skull)
Follow on screen instructions. It will show everything that it’s doing in text format. When it is done, you will notice.
Now go back and search for “V6_SuperCharger_for_Android-Update9_RC10.sh.pdf” using SManagaer and again, make sure the skull is green before running the script.
YOU DON’T HAVE TO HIT THE THANKS BUTTON UNDER ME IF YOU DON’T WANT TO BUT DEFINITELY DO IT FOR zeppelinrox!
IF you still don’t get my instructions, there are videos on YouTube

Go to the original thread. Many have done it. For our device we'll I will say that when an app wants to force close the script kicks in and you'll notice the app stay black for about 2 seconds and it opens. Haven't had any force closes except for maps. It does something weird. It says it fierce closes but it doesn't actually close

So I am running trebuchet on aopk milestone 6, from what I could understand from reading the script (which honestly is not much ) is that for me to get the launcher tweaks I may need to do some additional steps? I may have just read it wrong, also should I run ''su'' ''sclean'' in the terminal every couple of days? Thanks and sorry... I'm not too savy with all of this so bear with me. Great find though!

I may have just read it wrong, also should I run ''su'' ''sclean'' in the terminal every couple of days? Thanks and sorry... I'm not too savy with all of this so bear with me. Great find though!

Go to the original thread. Many have done it. For our device we'll I will say that when an app wants to force close the script kicks in and you'll notice the app stay black for about 2 seconds and it opens. Haven't had any force closes except for maps. It does something weird. It says it fierce closes but it doesn't actually close

Wait, I'm getting a permission denied in smanager when running the supercharger u9rc10 file. I allowed smanager su and made sure the green skull was there. Any ideas?
Oh yeah, and I'm runnin cm10, but that shouldnt affect anything bcuz this is supposed to work on jb.
And also, the script runs if I don't put it as root, but gives me all the errors like not running as root. If I try runnin as root , it shows up with permission denied before even running the script!

I'm not sure but if you look at the original thread where everything is, they say to follow post number 2 for ics and jb.

HI. I posed this in an ubuntu apps forum but thought I'd post it here as it is a question that may be of more general interest. One of the gripes I (and many others) have with android is that it can kill processes that are put in background whether you like it or not. For example I might be editing a file using Polaris, put it background, only to come back an hour or so later to find that the changes are lost and I have to restart the app (so always save changes before putting in background!). On the other hand, several times I have put ubuntu (using the linux on android app) in background overnight only to find that when I return to it, it is still running and if fact the ubuntu screen saver is running! Further, the VNC app Jump, which is used to connect to ubuntu, had actually been killed by android OS, but restarting it brought me to where I had left off in ubuntu. So why is it that the android OS does not kill ubuntu when I run it? Is it because I am using terminal emulator? Note, Terminal emulator is another app that is not killed by android OS because it uses what is called an android "service". Anyways, it would be great if one could prevent selected apps from being killed as I would like to be the one that decides this - not a task manager. Please do feel free to chime in with your thoughts!
Sounds like the apps that arnt being killed off have super user permissions which have a "pass" on being auto killed. I guess android autokills apps because ppl who just throw every app into the background complain that the phone is slowing down and is garbage, when essentially they dont know how to use the phone and instead of hearing complaints about the phone slowing down, they added that feature. If ur rooted u might be able to add some permissions to the app ur using so it gets that "pass" aswell.
I would feel bad if i was walking away from an important document that i working on for more than 5 mins and didnt save it before i left.
Best of luck and report back whatever you figure out.

Just a brief follow-up in case anyone is interested... I thought I'd try starting up polaris from a terminal just to see if that would somehow protect it from that merciless android OS (as ubuntu, which is run from a terminal, dodges the android OS bullet), I fired up polaris using
am start -a android.intent.action.MAIN -n com.infraware.polarisoffice4/.OfficeHomeActivity
Unfortunately it eventually was killed by OS when, after putting it in background, I tried uninstalling a selected app (which I could repeat). As usual, terminal and ubuntu always survived the process! Again, just curious as to whether, as a user, it is possible to prevent the OS from killing selected apps.
Afternoon all,
I'm hoping someone can help me before I smash my watch into a million pieces ...... I've had the watch now for about 3 days and still have found no way to put apps on it. If I try and open maps or Whattsapp it opens them on the phone. I have little icons in the start menu for music, find my phone, Fit and Google keep but nothing else.
I've seen a few YouTube videos where program icons can be accessed by swiping the screen left or right but mine doesn't do that. In the instructions I got it said compatible for apps for Android Wear would automatically appear on my watch..... this hasn't happened either??
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
You are correct the apps will automatically show up on the watch if you have them on your phone. Try downloading "Wear mini launcher" for quicker way of opening apps. That's probably what you saw on the video. Android Wear 5.1.1 will have a better start menu and will probably hit the Sony watch in the next week or two.
Is your watch connected to the phone? I'm guessing it is but if you're not seeing wear apps that should be there maybe go into the Android wear app settings and click "resync apps".
Also you should be able to open apps by getting to the OK Google screen and going all the way to the bottom and click "start...".
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the quick reply, I can see everything now apart from a icon for Whattsapp, any ideas?
It probably only displays notifications and isn't actually a standalone app. I don't use it myself so can't say definitely. There's no standalone hangouts app either but you can still send texts through it.
Thanks, your reply makes sense.
Q] Can't put apps on my Sony Smartwatch 3?

The Android Wear can't run any stand alone aps yet, however it might change in the future.I'm personally waiting for Google to make copying music like the smartwatch was a flash drive available

You can use adb to install standalone Android apps. Android Wear is still Android at its core. A lot have issues due to screen size and UI differences but you'd be surprised what apps will work. Got a few emulators running. You can push any file you want to the smartwatch using the adb command adb push filename /sdcard/.
You may have to be rooted but it's incredibly easy to root the watch. Can get a lot of cool apps running by playing with the DPI and such. Although some apps (games especially) will kill the battery rather quick as it's not meant for that stuff.
