You need to goto /system/app and replace the dialertabactivity.apk with the one you want. Set permissions to rw-r--r-- and finally, reboot.

Goto /system/app and delete the old dialertabactivity.apk and contacts.apk. Make sure system is mounted as r/w. If you are not sure which apks are the old ones, move one of the copies to another folder and reboot. If the dialer and contacts are not what you wanted, replace them with the one you moved to another folder.
wen i click on icon it says application is not installed in your phone...i check in folder too and there is only one dialeractivity file..

Hi everyone
Can anyone upload stock .apk file of camera from (CyanogenMod 7.1-cooper-KANG-RC1 Android 2.3.7 - by Grif ), because I delete this app, and I don't have a copy of this.
If you downloaded the flashzip, just look for it inside and extract it.
OK, I got this.
But, when I try install it, it shows me "Application is not installed"
Any idea ??
Move the apk file into /system/app set permissions to rw-r-r and reboot. Now it should work again.

Yeah, I know this method. I did that, and didn't work.
When you reboot, take a stop at recovery mode and clear dalvik cache and then fully reboot.

the odex file is found on grifs CM7 thread. If you have the compiled apk file already you dont really need the odex since it wont do anything.

You just have to put the apk file of the FMradio on your sd card...then you open a file browser like astro-file-manager...you look for the path (you have chosen for the apk-file) and open the file by tapping it-->you have to tap "install" and it should work
if you haven't the file yet her you can get it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1375342

rxx means you should just check Read and unchek the other two options in a row (if they are checked).
rwx means you should check Read and Write, and uncheck the third option in a row.
In your case you should uncheck Execute in every row.

Hi, I've downloaded a good mms.apk and I would like to test it on my phone, but I can't make a flashable package with it to flash in CWM. I've seen many tutorials on how to do it, however none of them worked for me. It keeps saying "Error in .... Status 0" bla bla bla.

Yeah. Same problem. Tried Auto-Sign and everything
the most important is the Meta-Inf folder.
this contains the scripts that the recovery runs, and reads how to install the files, set permissions, symlinking etc..
you can take the whole Meta-inf folder from an existing ROM for gio, and move it to a new map.
folders should look like the following
META-INF > google > android > updaterscript and updatebinary
you need to edit the updater script. remove ALL lines except
mount /system ext4 ....mount
Package_extract(system) /system/
System folder > App folder > your apk you want to have in your rom
now .zip these files, winrar or 7zip doesn't care, as long as it is .zip and not .7zip or .rar you're fine.
flash it, and just to be sure you might want to mount system manually before flashing.

Don't know what ROM you are on... your knowledge of pushing apps to /system (ie., via adb), etc., so I'm attaching the stock samsung keyboard (plain grey) with auto-correct functionality. You need to be rooted at least. Copy the attached apk to your phone... then, using your favorite root file manager (like Root Explorer, etc) copy to /system folder first... fix permissions to rw.r..r.. then, MOVE to /system/app. It will ask if you want to replace the current "SamsungIME.apk", answer yes. You should be good to go.

Those are folders/files in the flashable zip. Let's try the simpliest approach first.
1. Download "Root Explorer (File Manager) from the PlayStore, and install
2. From my post #6 above, save the attached file (SamsungIME.apk)... on your phone's sdcard
3. Open Root Explorer, and navigate to the folder on your phone (sdcard) where you put the SamsungIME.apk... long press it, then select "Copy"
4. now while still within Root Explorer, navigate to /system folder, and hit "Paste" (make sure you mount as R/W.. it's the button at the top. If you are mounted as Read Only, you'll get an error message "You cannot past here because the file system is read only". Just hit the "Mount R/W" toggle at the top of screen.
5. Now, "SamsungIME.apk" is in your /system folder. You need to fix permissions. Long press "SamsungIME.apk" and select "Permissions". There are boxes with green check marks. toggle the boxes so that you only have green check marks in: Owner: R W ; Group: R ; Others: R. Hit "OK"
6. Now, long press "SamsungIME.apk" file again, and select "Move"
7. Navigate to /system/app (you should already be in /system, so just tap the "app" folder
8. Make sure you are still mounted as "R/W", if so, tap the "Paste" key at bottom. this will put "SamsungIME.apk" in the /system/app folder
9. if you did all this correctly, you should be good to go...

It appears you are not understanding some of the android basics...and that can be extremely dangerous... especially since you are rooted. From you screenshot, you show zip files in your /system folder. Per my previous post, I stated to copy "SamsungIME.apk" to /system... fix permissions... then MOVE to /system/app. Your screenshot shows zip files in your /system folder (i.e., "SamsungIME.zip"). My attachment is the apk file itself. So apparently when you downloaded, it zipped it for compression purposes. YOU NEED THE APK. I suspect it is inside that zip file.. so you'll need to know how to unzip that zip.. and get the ".apk" The APKs goes into the /system/app folder (Not /system). Try again, and get the SamsungIME.apk out of that zip... copy that apk to /system.. fix permissions... then move (not copy) to /system/app (it's a sub folder within /system). If this didn't work, you have done something wrong.
Damn I had the feeling some was wrong. So should I get that out of the system folder? How do I do that ? I cant delete or move them. Does it harm if I leave them there? Ya im trying that now how yiu explained the apk I get it . Thanks alot tho for ur patients

I use Root Explorer... if you long press the file, you get the option to delete file. Delete the ".zip" files in /system folder. Your screenshot looks like ES File Explorer (or something similar). You should be able to "select" that zip file, then delete. Go back to my Post#6 and download the APK file (SamsumgIME.apk)... do not zip it... you should be able to download file as apk. Then follow my previous instructions. Again, get the APK file (not .zip) to /system folder.... then fix permissions... then MOVE (don't copy or you will leave a copy of the apk behind in /system) to /system/app folder. System apk files belong in the app subfolder of system (/system/app). When you go to paste the apk in /system/app, you will be asked to replace existing file... replace it. Try again... report back.
Ok thanks will do that tomorow . I use es explorer yes. When I try to delete it says file cannot be deleted. Cant see any apk file I use windows 8 maybe tahts why?

lol, u move it to framework folder but the old one is still in system/app so u dont lose the old apk, if im not wrong.
the way to replace without bug is copy to system, set permission, then when u move to system/app, u should better rename the old one or delete them firstly after move new one in. replace directly may cause some bug.

u should move to system, then set permission before move to system/app, and should rename the old apk or delete it instead of replace directly, DONT move directly to system/app, set permission after.
i do this way all the time and never see any bug. u can try some time

I was wrong in my first post, i meant, copy first custom SystemUI.apk to /system, then apply permissions rw-r--r--. Copy then the respective file to /system/app. Reboot.
If you happened to copy the file to /system/app without applying permissions first, you will get persistent Force Closes even when you reboot. Just Fix Permissions via Recovery.

u should move to system, then set permission before move to system/app, and should rename the old apk or delete it instead of replace directly, DONT move directly to system/app, set permission after.
i do this way all the time and never see any bug. u can try some time
