[Q] Camera flash not working - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone,
All of a sudden my flashlight decided not to work anymore. I can't remember dropping my phone for it to be dysfunctional. Is this a known hardware issue? Is there something I can do to fix it or do you think I might have to turn it in (hope I still have warranty...)? Thanks in advance!

Which ROM, kernel, Hboot, etc do you use?

I'm using the recommended kernel and I'm using the latest radio. Searched the thread but haven't seen anyone with the same issue.

My recommendation is to backup all data (e.g. with Titanium Backup) and run a full wipe.

[Q] Display OFF -> mobile network shuts own

Hello guys,
i use:
Redux 1.0.0
32.54 radio
stock kernel (redux)
desire
the battery was a little bit draining for me and i wanted give the RIL a chance ( btw i dont know what this is (yes im an idiot ) and installed it. i also tried with installing a undervolting zip that is given on the Redux page .
and now when i turn on my phone i have mobile network but then when i turn off display and on again i cant get it again until i reboot
please help
First you shouldn't flash stuff if you don't know what it is or does.
Second you shouldn't flash ril's on gingerbread roms. At least that's the case with oxygen.
Just reflash your rom without wiping, this will revert the ril to the right one. This probably fixes it, else you have to do a full wipe and not flash any "random" stuff.

at first , big thx for your fast help , but i have one more question :
when i install the rom again , can i loose any data then :S ? (even without wiping)
and can undervolting have any effects on this too?
No you shouldn't lose anything except stuff on the system partition. So if you manually moved something to system it gets removed. uv kennels should not have a effect on this but kernel will be reverted also.

[Q] HTC Desire keeps rebooting

After flashing a custom rom which I downloaded here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038195, my Desire keeps rebooting.
You see the AlphaRev screen at the begin and now it won't go on.
I recovered the phone and tried to install the custom rom again and it still keeps rebooting!
My phone is rooted and S-off'ed
Can anyone help me?
Maybe I did something wrong.. I've no idea.
I really appreciate any help!
Ps. I'm a beginner at root, flash etc.
(Sorry for my bad English)
Did you do a full wipe? Data and cache.
If yes, do you have a ext partition and did you check the tread, I believe there are more people with boot issues on the latest leedroid.

Yes I did both wipes, and yes I have a ext partition.
Unless it's ext4 (should be ext3) you need to starch the thread for solutions.
Edit: you're using bravo stock hboot right?

I think so? (Bravo PVT 4 Ship S-off)
Probably, was it in the top left corner?
If yes I don't know what else.

Yes.
Thanks anyway. I really appreciate.

Maybe try a different rom temporarily? If it works, problem is with the rom file, if it won't, problem is with handset or SD? Maybe need to copy important stuff from SD to PC then reformat the card?
I just downloaded another ROM and it works fine.
I think the ROM I''ve downloaded had problems or something...
Anyway thank you guys, I really appreciate it.
This thread can be closed.
I have a problem as well, my phone keeps rebooting when I try to record video, I just had the damn Camera repaired
Was running oxygen but flashed stock. Still happening.
Will it need to go back for repair, sucks to go days without it.

No, it won't touch your radio (though it will change the libs, if that matters to you). And yes, you flash it like any other ROM. Since you're most likely coming from a ROM that isn't closely related to CyanogenMod, you will have to do a factory reset and wipe of cache and dalvik cache before flashing.

Yes restoring your current ROM will restore libs, though I can't explain too well what they are. Also no for CM7 you do not need hzboot, only for Sense ROMs (someone correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty confident about that)

Flash through recovery. I would suggest updating your radio after you get on CM7, that way you can see how your current radio is before switching.

Just an added note, changing to dz hboot will change your radio....depending on how you do it.

Thanks for all the help, I'm trying not to change my radio, like I said I'm learning but still new at rooting I'm trying to keep it as simple as possible so i could unroot it fairly quick incase i need to swap it thru Tmobile, thanks again everyone

Also once you've changed your radio and you can match the RIL files by going to ROM Manager -> Download ROM -> Virtuous -> Radio to RIL Automatcher.

From stock HBoot to CMr7 HBoot

Quick question,
If I make a nandroid backup on a stock hboot base, and then change stock hboot to cmr7 hboot. Is it possible that my backup still works when I put it back on a cmr7 base.
Thanks in advance !
Sent from my office (toilet) !!!
it depends on how big your system is
ah oke, thanks... i will look it up. gonna try anyway.... otherwise i'll start from scratch.

Depends on the Rom you had in your nandroid backup. If it's Oxygen, CM7 or any AOSP roms then it will most likely fit. If it's a Sense ROM then it's possible you'll have issues.

Not possible but certain. Part of the /system won't be restored and no chance rom will boot. I don't have such issues as my sense rom has very small footprint

Well it's the miui-xj rom.those fit on all hboots so I will give it a try. Will be next Saturday. I am gonna report back if it works

Apps constantly crashing and wifi/mobile network not working

This started happening a while ago (app crashing) on a different rom, and since then I've tried the following with no success;
New rom
New kernel
Full wipe
New gapps (not required on my current rom)
relocked and unlocked bootloader, upgraded from 0.95 to 1.28
Nothing seems to be working on any rom, and now I have just got out of a battery bootloader bootloop the past couple days my phone seems also unable to handle connections; I supposedly have signal however I receive no texts, data connection isn't working as my gmail account has not been synced (so I have no contacts etc) and wifi crashes when I turn it on.
I'm starting to worry this may be a hardware fault! However considering I have unlocked my bootloader I won't be able to return it under warranty! Can you suggest anything else to try? I haven't fully wiped my whole storage (sd card and all) is that an option to try?
Thanks for any help I can get
bump, really stuck here
If you you are using an AOSP Rom a special kernel is required for the new HBoot. Or has this happened on the old HBoot too? If so a hard reset might solve the problem.

Yeah I am using an AOSP rom but it happened on HBOOT 0.95 and still on 1.28. Is that a factory reset from the bootloader? Also which kernel is it? I just used the boot.img included in the zip
You can do it from the bootloader. Essentially its just wiping everything including the sd storage. I dont have much time to look for it right now because im working. But if you use the search function you should find it have you tried to redownload the rom?

This is the rom I'm using atm http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1784185 (CM is based on AOSP right?)
and is this the kernel you're talking about? http://htcfanboys.com/download/seadersn/?action=view&file=14552 ? However don't I also
need the zip to flash in CWM?
Yes it is an AOSP Rom, but you dont need the the modified kernel because tripnraver solved the problem in his kernels and Rom. Since you have the problem on other ROMs too i would suggest to perform a hard reset and see if the problem still exists. Just backup everything and reflash Rom.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
I might try this AOKP rom that I used before, according to the OP there is a specific boot.img you must use for HBOOT 1.28, so I've downloaded that to and when I get home I'll give it a try. It says a full wipe is required, does that just mean cache/dalvik/wipe in CWM or do I need to run the SuperWipe.zip?

Sorry I just saw this reply, I'll try a factory reset before I try the other rom, cheers
I cant factory reset, everytime I do it just goes into CWM?
I just formatted each partition separately in CWM, re installed etc and pretty much everything seems to be back up and running However I am still having the SMS crash issue :S even though my whole SD card is wiped
At least the rest is working still weird though. Does that happen with any sms app?
