Hey guys,
Yesterday when I fiddling with my Wonder, I found a way how to bypass Android's lock verification system. Unfortunately, I was sleepy and I only can remember some parts of it. Notice how I use the word 'verification' and not 'screen' as this does NOT disable the screen. The screen will still appear however it will accept any pattern. This 'hack' is persistent and does not reset after a reboot, when I attempt to change the locking method, Android does not ask for a pin or pattern. This might work with other phones but I have not confirmed that. To perform this, switch of your phone and power it on again normally. Right after the boot animation, the soft keys will light up. Immediately, press and hold the menu key. When the lock screen appears, quickly let go of it and press and hold it again for another few seconds. Notice how the status bar dims, if that happens you have performed the bypass successfully. Android should now accept any pattern whatsoever. I have not been successful in recreating this 'accident'. Let me know if this works for you. And if your an experienced user and know what is causing this to happen, please enlighten me.

It refers to the screen lock system. Not improving performance but "bypassing" the lock.
thank you but if this is important?

Don't see any point doing this except you totally forgot your Android Lock combination and gracefully (read: stupidly) forgot your Google Account + password

Yup, this is something extra for us to know. BUT no harm to learn this.

Hi,
In general I am very happy with my new TP2, however, I keep forgetting to press the lock button (hold down the call end buttoun until it vibrates) prior to pussing the power button and putting it in the case.
Does anyone know of a way of adding this function to the power button, so that it automatically locks?

If you use S2U2 you get this functionality, I don't know how to do it with normal screen lock.
Dave
Or if you use Throttle Lock you can use a pattern to unlock your device, and you can set it up that when you push the powerbutton it gets locked with the pattern, or that when you push the powerbutton it will wait a x given minutes and then your device get's locked with a pattern.
I don't know how to do it with normal screen lock.
i have this on mine dont know how i got it take it came with some app i have installed
Anyone know how to fix this so that the phone's standard lock autolocks? Tried throttle etc but I still really like the simplicity of the normal phonelock, just need to get it to do it by itself.
Homescreen plusplus (Batterystatus) has this option. You can select lock on standby, it uses normal wm lock app. Used it on my Wizard, not sure if it's compatible with the TP2...

Use TouchLockPro as locking utility. Automatically locks at power on and unlocks by light sensor. And you can configure a key unlock sequence. And with a slide to answer solution, you can only lock the hardware keys at incoming call.
if you simply press the power button that switches off the screen and locks all buttons.
uilt-in WM feature.
If you set a password it also automatically locks it
how do you enable ALL BUTTONS UNLOCK ?
in older devices there was an option somewhere in the keys section, now only the power button turns the phone on,. i want all the keys to turn it on, since i use the s2u2...
thanx

When not removed from ROM you will find it as \Windows\keylock.exe
Otherwise try: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5875933&postcount=5
I am still looking for auto lock at suspend. I don't want to install a program bringing with it 100.000 functions.
I dont see the point in adding extra features to a lock screen. its there to keep the screen locked and thats it lol
Anyways, try 'lock device GUI'
It just adds the function to lock the device when the power button is pushed (Sleep).
Keeps the old lock screen, only adds function
Yea check out LockDevice. I use it and it works great..

DeviceLock.cab Works As Well...
I had similar issue. So I installed "DeviceLock.cab" and added it as a Quick Link on HCT Sense 2.5 Homescreen. Now I just have to click on the link to lock the device. Once the screen if off the keys don't matter.
Also used "Lock Screen With Bottom Slider" for easy access.
I can't post links, but if you search for quote phrase, you should be able to find a download.
Hope that helps.
Try smartlock. Works perfect! Just install the cab, then it can be found in: Start/Settings/System

Not sure if this is a bug, but I noticed that if you are running an app that has a "..." menu button at the bottom (next to the app switch/task manager button) and you press the power button to lock the phone, next time you unlock it the menu button will still be there. Pressing it takes you to the application you were in before.
It only works for apps that have the menu button at the bottom. I tried other more secure locks and the menu button still appears, but pressing it does nothing.
Oh no.. first the face unlock fiasco and now this..
Worst security ever!

I don't see why face unlock would be a fiasco ... ?
And this may be a bug, but it's not a security issue.
I've tried it, but doesn't happen for me. Running a custom rom though.

You can pull down the notification bar as well...
I don't think anyone could argue that slide-to-unlock is a secure option anyway at all.

I think thats a feature.
Yes, but pulling down the notification bar does not allow you to unlock the phone. The settings button is disabled.
I'm not saying its a problem, just something odd...
The MoDaCo rom removes this feature/issue.

I don't think that slide to unlock is a security option. If you really want to have the phone blocked put a pin code or a slide pattern.
But it's true that maybe this option souldn't be posible. The notificaction bar can be displayed but not presed to enter the phone.
I'm with the autor of the post. This souldn't happen.

Actually, if you have a notification, you can pull down the notification bar and click the notification and it will work just like it would if slide to unlock first.
As stated by someone else, slide to unlock is only for butt dial protection, not security.

Yeh I was just kidding lol.
Sounds like a feature to me. Damn convenient.
This is not an issue. If you want security use pin, pattern, or face unlock. How is just having slide unlock considered security? It isn't.
And before people bemoan face unlock, who the hell is going to have a big picture of you to fool face unlock AND know the phone is yours except people you know. If you need to protect your phone from people you know or are uncomfortable with it, use a pin or pattern.

It does? I'm running MCR and the ADW menu button still shows up..
But like someone said, with slide to unlock does it really matter? It's not very hard to slide to unlock anyways.. now if it was slide to unlock AND it had a password unlock it would be different..
I'm not really concerned with the security side, however I am concerned with the practicality of it. I often accidentally push buttons on my phone when both my hands and phone are in my pocket, and because of this button it often unlocks and I end up ringing someone or sending them a text full of random characters. Quite annoying.
If you click on a notification it goes into the app. I actually find this quite convenient, I can get right into the app without sliding my finger.

Not valid with ADW launcher ... or any launcher which still uses the legacy menu button.
Its a feature...and i like it. Quick access to last opened app. Why would this be a problem if you dont set a security code. Its a welcomed feature imo.
So I rooted my phone and everything was smooth until i followed this theme guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318850
After I followed all the instructions and did that My powerbutton started acting funky. When I hold it down it doesn;t have the popup menu so i can choose to restart phone or turn off phone etc.
Is there anyway to fix this?
haha your lucky I did the same thing what's worse is now your lock screen doesnt work either.
This happens from using the secret codes you selected the wrong option. I can't remember the code for the power thing, but you can remedy by downloading "hidden features free sammy edt" and once in the app, click "power button" in the menu, and you should see the option in the screenshot, uncheck the box and you will have your power menu back! (As well as your lock screen)
Please don't forget to hit thanks if I have helped you!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I can't say it with enough enthusiasm. I looked everywhere and everyone said i had to do a factory reset. I think the reason why i had the problems as the OP was because i ran the LCD Test with the code *#0*#. I finally have my pin back. Thank you again ApexZeph!

If any of you facing a problem where YOUR LOCK SCREEN DISAPPEARS AND YOU'RE FORCED TO RESTART AND YOU'VE GIVEN UP ALL HOPE??
Fair no more citizen, for I have the solution you have been looking for.
Change your lock screen timeout to a low value so your screen doesn't waste battery on standby, and at the same time, increase the "lock after screen timeout" variable so your phone doesn't lock as soon as your screen dims.
Ik its not ideal, but this way, as long as you're not around thieving individuals, all day, you can pick up up your phone anytime without worrying about it having to restart cheers!!
So what's that menu button on the bottom right for in the lock screen? When I press it, nothing happens. Sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not.
You can't explain that. Really, anyone know?
It's just a weird bug. If you have an app running that has the menu button (not ICS-optimised), and lock the screen, the menu button also appears in the lockscreen as well. I think they already fixed this in the latest OTA though.

if you have an app open that uses a menu, you can access it directly without unlocking the phone if you do not have a pattern unlock.

I don't think so. Whenever it appears and I press it from the lock screen, nothing happens.
do you have a pattern or pin unlock? based on your screenshot id say you do.
That menu shows up using certain launchers, such as ADW.

Goto settings >security and check what they are set at under lock screen. Less security than swipe is none, which means once it wakes up you are on the home screen.

But the problem i am having is that, mine is set at "Swipe", and before the bug happened, i can swipe my screen and unlock, but now, all i have to do is just turn on the screen with power or home button and my lock screen wall paper will show up and then half a second after, it will unlock to my home screen by itself, and it wont let me swipe.
The above bug happens to me sometimes. I then switched to using a pattern on my lock screen.
If I leave the phone unattended sometimes for a few hours, when I "wake" it, it reverts to a "swipe" to unlock instead of my pattern of password that was set. My phone is stock 4.1.1 and not rooted.
