[Q] How come the ICS we have isn't fully optimized like Galaxy Nexus?

No access to settings from notification bar and different toggles..
Is the only reason HD2's ICS rom is better is because it's running CM9, is that what makes all the difference? Because it'd be convenient if we had the features this rom had

Ours is leaked and has tw... It's not the vanilla one. We would need source. Cm9 requires source, but they're working on it regardless. You're probably looking for aokp. Check that out

Simple because our phones are not supposed to have ICS yet. The first ICS leak came FOR TMOBILE about 2 weeks ago until that time we were using AT&T so we now have a compatible version of ICS. The developers are great they made a OS from another phone work on ours, now that they have the correct structure for T-Mobile give them some time they have lives too ya know, Darkside has a good stable rom and constantly improving it. ICS is about 93% fully functional now on our phones, and remember roms cut much of the bloat out that we dont need, etc.otherwise buy a Nexus

Why is sprint roms so slow????

Can someone tell me why Sprint development of Roms so slow to hit the site???. we are at least the #3 carrier in US!!!. only 3 or 4 roms so far when I see a bunch of roms develop for other carriers!!!!!!. do any of you guys have other sites that has roms for the Sprint S3???.

Other carriers have more devs. It seems like sprint devs like perfecting their work more then releasing half ****d work. The phone only been out for a month. And most devs got the 32GB version, it took awhile to get.

Trust me... Quality over quantity... Try the freegs3 rom. Good stuff

I'm new to Sprint as of this last Saturday (left Verizon after about 10 years)
I'm not a recognized developer on this site but I have cooked up ROM's and themes for the OG Droid, Droid Eris, Droid Inc., Thunderbolt, and Galaxy Nexus.
I'm just getting my feet wet with Touchwiz but I will be adding ROM's into the mix I would say within a month.

Hi and Thank You for asking, have you seen Team Venum Anaconda Rom in the Epic 4G Touch? I'm looking something like that. look at the top how the icons looks in diferent colors for signal strength, 3-4G, Battery and the like. almost every rom I have seen looks the same. I know there are improvements in battery live and speed but no one seems to pay atention on how a rom should look. don't get me wrong, I value the work our developers do but when you buy a car, don't you take into account the looks of the car beside the engine???.

Welcome to Sprint!!, I started with Cingular, AT&T,Sprint, Tmobile, Verizon(for 2days, no data signal at home!!!!), and now back to Sprint. let us know when you have a Rom ready!!!

I'm using now AOKP [ROM] [SPRINT] AOKP(Jellybean) Task & Ktoonsez But Bluethooth won't connect my headsets so I would like to try a diferent one.
Also [ROM][Team VeNuM][Odexed Blue][7/31/12][LG8][Odexed, Mods, Blue Themed][1.1]. I realy like this one but the Blue color theme is too intense for me.

If you like the Odex roms speed try freezas stock odex rom and flash the jellybean domination theme over it.

Possible to get vanilla android on an S3?

Is it possible to flash a stock android like on the galaxy nexus on the S3? i have one coming from TMO, got a sweet deal on it. if i can get a vanilla android on it i'll keep it, if not i'll sell it and get the gnex. thanks everyone.

That's a question that only you can answer by trying both. I had AKOP on my Vibrant before I bought this phone, and it has more customizations than AOSP. In that way AKOP diverges from Stock Vanilla Android. That being said, there is no way I'm putting anything but stock Samsung on my phone. I just need to wait for a good theme to get rid of the Lifesavers-like Samsung theming and it'll be perfect.

Essentially you are correct. A Nexus device will always be the best way to have the latest and greatest, most bug free, seamless, pure android experience. AOSP will always come close, but you will still always be getting early beta builds as opposed to stable OTA updates from Google. These betas usually start to catch up about the time the next version is released.
But, if your phone is rooted, you can come so close to a vanilla feel and look on a stock Touchwiz rom, that it will be almost indistinguishable. With themes, launcher replacements, and removing/replacing bloatware, it can really get close.

Your going backwards the s3 has better hardware. And if u flash cm10 you are good to go. Don't listen to some of these dudes. Its as vanilla as it will get. I had the gnex and the s3 running cm10 which is jb is faster and has more tweaks. Then the gnex basically its very similar. And as far as data goes idk y some of these people bug out dude do u really notice a difference from 7mbps to 15.....NO!!!! Cuz I don't! Everything is kosher. Op the s3 running an aosp (vanilla) ROM is pretty much flawless has a few quirks but def a dd. ....dig in

Wondering about new Jellybean Roms?

Hey guys, I've used a couple of roms and am a fan of Euroskank, CM10 and AOKP, but I realize they still have no touchwiz. I was wondering with the official JB release being out for the international s3 and it seems to feature touchwiz as well were there no roms that featured the same(Jellybean and touchwiz)? Let me know guys thanks.

"Euroskank, CM10 and AOKP" are all AOSP ROMs, therefore they don't contain Touchwiz. If you want Touchwiz JB ROM, then you'll have to wait for that from Samsung. BTW, official JB ROM for our phones are not out yet.

Correct, AOSP and AOKP are ROMs based off the Android Open Source Project. HTC and Samsung basically load their own launcher or UI over it. There are usually a few ROMs that come with TW but the devas might be waiting for the official source

I agree. It takes ATT forever to update phones. Even when they give a date it gets pushed back. Happen to me on my last phone.

Just run tasks aokp and then use something like nova prime with a touchwiz Ui. You won't know the difference.

Unless i'm mistaken(maybe it was for international?). It was on one of these threads in General after the Samsung conference, also a few other sites mentioning it. Again maybe it is just for the international version.

Sept for the lack of touchwiz things like smart alert, smart stay, direct call, tilt to zoom, pan to move/browse, shake to update, palm pause, etc. That is the reason that I like touchwiz. It's slightly more functional than vanil. You can put a launcher on touchwiz and look like AOS/KP with the functionality, you lose that functionality though if you go to AOSP and try to look like touchwiz

Too bad the ROMS are full of bugs and do not work right most of the time. I'll wait for a stable update from Samsung.

+1 Your right. I have tried both CM10 CM9 and paranoid roms and I feel they are just not trouble free prime time yet but the devs are doing a great job of it.

I've been using this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...ck TouchWiz Jelly Bean PORT (T999UVDLH3 Leak) and it works just fine.. jellybean with touchwiz.. its a port from the T-Mobile 4.1 leak for our AT&T S3's.. just make sure you set up the APN as the dev shows.. and make sure you install the secmms.apk with root explorer or other file explorer and reboot..

i agree .. i dont understand buying a phone, that has a million and one things its advertised for, and losing all of that to a faster vanilla rom like AOSP... if you dont want any of them bells and whistles, why even get the S4, and not a strictly google phone?? makes no sense to me..
not trying to bash, just not understanding the logic here.. so if anyone can fill me in please do..
ill be more then happy if evilart continues where he left off with his wicked rom series, and hopefully having Ktoonsez supply a kernel..The phone will have all of the features, a nice theme, be debloated and be fast.. what more could i ask for?
AOSP to me on anything but a google phone is a hack... Last aosp rom on my gs3, the messaging app would send my pictures sideways, sometimes it would have trouble sending mms message, and im sure theres a few other bugs i could name.. i rather stick with what this phone came with, just tweeked and sped up!

id prefer it t be a touchwiz rom myself, as much as i like CM, AOKP and AOSP, touchwiz has some really great features i dont want to lose.
