Hi there
I have recently just unlocked my bootloder and i am trying to flash SETweaked through recovery. I installed Blend kernel v2 and then booted into recovery but it won't let me do anything because it says that it can't mount my sdcard. I also booted into CWM_for_Arc.img, but still the same problem.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
cheers guys

kormatoes you legend!!!!!
Did what you said and all is working perfectly, thank you very much. This is now solved but may help someone else in the future.
Thanks again

just download and use SDFormatter 3.0 to format your SD card
it works for me ...
if not , you must use Flash Tool to Flash Kernel & Offical Rom too
So you just need to format the SD card into FAT32? wouldn't all the files inside be lost?
Hey guys soive been looking around too see if anyone is getting the problem where the sdcard isnt able to mount for some reason. idk whats happening but if anyone could help that would be great.. i rooted my defy and installed bootmenu but for some reason it wount mount the sdcard.
and i think i just put mydefy in an infinate boot loop. does anyone have any fixes for these problems? it would be really helpful.
Pull the battery out for 10sec and reinsert and retry.. it could help..

If you're talking about flashing .zip's in Recovery mode, you just use the "Install zip from sdcard" option instead of the "Apply update from sdcard" option to flash your update files.
As for the sdcard mount problem;
What exact model is your defy?
Can you mount the SD card from the launcher via; Root Browser or ROM Toolbox?
Can you mount the SD card from your computer when the phone is at the Launcher?
Can you mount the SD card from your computer when your phone is in Bootloader mode?
I think I had this problem a while ago but a Quarx nightly update fixed it...

Have you tried taking out the SD Card and put it back in?
Hello friends, i hope you can help me because i ****ed up real bad today... I was in cwm recovery, and press some button that said something like "format for rom" or something like that... Now i dont have any SO installed, no rom on my phone, and it says i have 0mb avalaible. So i flashed the TWRP recovery because im more familiar with it, i have tried sideload but get this error con the cmd window after it gets to 100% * failed to write data 'protocol fault (no status)' *
On the phone i have: E: No valid storage partitions.
Any help please? Already tried adb push rom.zip /data or /sdcard but since i have 0mb for storage on my phone i think any of that will work. I can flash recoverys, but cant move any rom to my phone to flash Help please
Ok it seems that i was able to push the rom.zip to my /system but when i try to flash it, it says:
E: Unable to mount /data
E: Unable to find storage partition to mount to usb

What error do you get while installing in twrp. send logs screenshots
Btw you have to be patient mate. It takes time for people to understand your problem and find solution
You can try magisk also if you want

it wont mount data and then when it mounts it spits out an error saying it cant patch the ram disk, also i have had it too many times where i have asked a question just to have it ignored to this day
Your device is encrypted, you need to format data to decrypt device and flash root and flash the zip to disable encryption, dont know where the zip file is.

if i disable encryption then safety check will always fail. i didn't have to earlier but every time i delete data and try it fails saying ram disk cant be patched or restored
I have the same issue as jfk999 except having data wiped, i have tried everything i know and so far to no avail. last time i isued the no encrypt zip it broke safety net and most of my apps including the phones stability. https://forum.xda-developers.com/samsung-a-series-2017/help/root-issues-oreo-t3800852

SuperSU isn't really compatible with Oreo as it needs some patches to work which it's unlikely to get.
Magisk is now the premier root solution and the most up to date for Oreo and includes the relevant patches.

Failed in what way?
If you have an app that has issues then you need to notify the developer of that app.
Failing in patching ramdisk points to possible error in boot image. You can try the method given by moozer in my post that helped me patch the boot image.I guess that would solve your problems
Also try starting from scratch..try downloading clean rom from sammobile and start over.
Hope that helps

same as Super Su, wiped data and it failed to patch the ramdisk and then it couldnt restore it, it looped my device so I had to use the Magisk uninstaller to fix it. All i have done since updating is install TWRP and tried rooting which is failing

How do you mean it fails?
Just select save recovery.log and save to sd card.
