uninstall with Titanium Backup. And do not sign in with your dropbox account

Delete it by using Anttek App Manager or mayb u can DISABLE it in HOX's app under APP tab.

Why? There's no need to sync all files.

Free, yes... But their customer service is appalling. Consider: you use their service, but something goes wrong. You contact them but they are unhelpful. You have used the service for long and have gotten used to it, thus finding other services inadequate. As a result, you're screwed. Now granted, something might not go wrong, but are you willing to take that risk? I'm not saying dropbox is bad, but there customer service is rubbish. In the long run, when the 25gb expires, it will affect you. Of course, you can always hope that they would change before that.

on unrooted phone: open app drawer. find dropbox icon. long press. at top of the screen the uninstall option will appear. drag the icon to that option. if dropbox or any other app is shown on one of the carousel screens, long pressing and dragging to the "remove" option at the top of the screen will remove the icon from the screen, but you still need to go into the app drawer to actually uninstall.
dropbox has some options not available in google drive. i agree about not counting on the 25gb storage, however, unless you are sure you're going to want to retain the service after the two years are up.

No such luck on HTC One

The Uninstall is greyed out - if only it was that easy. I get my status bar gummed up multiple times daily by crap from dropbox and I really don't want to use their service. I guess maybe I am locked in unless I root the phone?

If you want to root, hv to unlock bootloader. After rooted you can remove the system app just like dropbox and so on....

Setting > app > all
Then simply disable dropbox

Good find. Now I'm curious if any other bundled apps have this feature.

Didn't realize that...
But it is less clutter in my drawer
I also use LauncherPro so I can "hide" all those apps I don't want, and now my drawer has no junk in it.

This app has a service that starts up when you reboot. Yes, it doesn't remove the app, but it stops it from starting up the service and it is no longer accessible from the app drawer. In fact, when I did this trick, the icon didn't immediately go away from the LP app drawer, and I tried accessing it again. It was no longer usable.
Even if it's not freed up from the device, it's essentially dead.
Brand new getting my first 10 posts in so THANKS to OP for this tip.
Thanks for this.
or you could just temp root and freeze it. lol that works too.

Disabling Apps ? and Caution

I like the new feature of ICS that allows you to disable apps. I used it immediately to remove the VZW bloatware that was pre installed (back up assistant).
But I may of taken it a step too far. I disabled the default calculator app ( just happen to like realcalc better). When I did that it screwed up my calendar. All of my events were MIA. Luckily I caught it before I did anything else and couldn't pinpoint the problem. - undisabled the calculator and every thing went back to normal.
So, like it says in the warning use caution when disabling system apps. And hopefully my little boo boo helps some one else out.
Anyone else disable a app and notice any strange or unexpected results???

I disabled Books, Vz backup, and phone (I'm using another dialer). So far no issues.
I also used autostarts to keep a few other apps from starting automatically all the time.

Two frozen Google apps return

Two Google apps -- Play Books and Play Movies & TV -- keeping returning from the land of the frozen. I go back into TB Pro and refreeze, and within a couple of days at most they are back. All the other Google apps I've frozen remain so. Is there something else on the list I also need to freeze?
When I disable them in app manager they come back after a reboot as well. I think its tied to the play store or something that keeps activating them.

I checked on Play and on app manager for auto update option and don't see one. Odd that only these two are persistent despite freezing. I have the feeling there's another item on TB that needs freezing as well to fix this.
I got sick of this and since I do not want nor need them, I just deleted them

Ah, the more brutal approach. If that worked, and you have no regrets or issues as a result, that seems my only course of action as well.
Why you bother to freeze them or delete? It's part of former Google Market. Do.'t see benefit from deleting it. Can you share your thoughts?

Basically, I have four pages of icons under apps, and many of them are for services I have no interest in and will never use. I'm not trying to save space...I think there's 11 GB free, but I find the clutter off-putting.
Not sure I understand the part about Google Market. Play is just the same thing renamed, isn't it? Plus new look and feel.
Anyway, just de-cluttering the UI.
Yup it comes back now.. Use menu - > hide applications or you can stick them all in one folder and hide just that folder

Disable apps in ICS

My sister is running Tazz ICS, and there are some HTC apps that she doesn't use so I am disabling them in settings->apps. However, there are a few where the disable button is not able to be pressed. Is there a permission I can change so that I can disable them. One I can think of off the top of my head is HTC Location or Location Launcher.
I know titanium backup can freeze them, but I would rather use the built in ICS app disable instead of buying an app to do it.

Thanks, I just found that. Too bad the .apk files aren't all named the same as the apps. I was hoping to find a way to just disable them in the settings->apps menu, but I looked at the permissions for the ones you can't disable and they are the same as the ones you can.
Can't you do that with titanium backup ? I think I saw that a while back

Yeah, you can freeze them. Might need pro though, don't remember. If you don't want to do that, just say what apps you want removed and we can tell you what the apk name is.

You need Titanium Pro to freeze apps and I didn't want to pay for it. I found the apks and just renamed them. It just seems like having HTC be able to block their crap from being disabled defeats the purpose of the ICS option to disable unwanted apps.

Evil ATT Address Book

How in the heck can we stop this monster short of rooting and debloating? Everytime I try anything with contacts there it is and I have to hit the back button to escape. There doesn't seem to be a way anywhere to kill this atrocity of an app.
Okay, call me stupid, it gives more options NOT to use it once your SIM is active. So used to HTC Dev Editions, or GPE. Mods can delete.
You should be able to disable it through Apps in Settings. What I usually do is just have it set up then in contacts under settings manually uncheck it so it doesn't sync anything.

They don't let you disable it on the G2, I doubt they'd do so on the G3. One of the reasons I ordered a T-Mobile version.
You'd probably have to do a root-debloat to get rid of it.
I rooted and it's gone after some debloating.

Download titanium backup and freeze all of the AT&T apps this way they can be unfrozen when you need to do an OTA.
Simple....root it and use a root uninstall app. No reason not to root

On my LG G3 I had the same problem and later on a friend asked me to do this and it worked perfectly.
Go to the dialer and type *#*#2666#*#*
Select "Registration" and choose "Completed"
And you should be ok.
