Any way to add to the power down menu (holding the power button at the home screen) to include a simple reboot, and reboot to bootloader option?
I don't want to install a custom rom, I like stock rooted.
Gonna be a root feature. If you're stock rooted you can use an app like "quick boot" to have multiple reboot options from 1 app.
Its probably gonna require a custom ROM to add these to the system menu holding down the power button though. But if you're just stock, why do you need to reboot and boot into your bootloader so often? lol.
Hmm...well the goomanager app already does that, I just like the convenience of holding the power button.
I guess I could consider custom roms, but the stock "pure google" is just so...nice...but a lot of roms go changing things that I don't want changed, or add bloat that I don't want added.
This ^^^.
let it be.

Yeah you should try aokp, its still stock and you just don't have to use the extra features.
I use quick boot too.

Doesn't AOKP replace the launcher among several other things?
No I think it has both launchers, stock and nova. You can chose either.

It has nova and stock you can choose but nova looks exactly the same as stock, but its way better since you can in fact control everything like removing google search bar or increasing the grid size on desktop or removing the dock or resize the dock or infinite scrolling for desktop and dock etc etc it could stay plain stock.. So i dont see the point on going stock since with nova you can only get better than stock
AOKP does not "replace" anything, if you want stock, you can be, as same with nova with rom manager you can only get better starting from stock

No. From stock to ANY other ROM will require a wipe for everything.

Then just stay stock. And if you ever need the reboot or reboot bootloader w/o a PC use one of the root apps that does it. Like I said, why do you need to reboot and use the bootloader so often?

Do the CDMA short codes work on it? E.g. the *#*# codes.

Found this on Galaxy s2 forums.. I KNEW everyone would find this useful as a home replacement and appreciate the added customization over stock Touchwiz. Root access is required if your device comes with Touchwiz. This is Fr4gg0r and Swiftwork's work, not my own. Anyhow, check it out!
Yeah, I've been using this for quite a while on my OG Epic 4G.
Just FYI, install TW4Manager and do a check for latest stable version and it will install TW 4.5 for you.
*EDIT*
Install instructions
Before installation you need:
1. Root access.
2. An alternate launcher installed in case of installation failure. (the stock phone has Sprint ID launcher)
3. Backup and Uninstall: TouchWiz30Launcher.apk (I used SDXStockappremover but you can also use TitaniumBackup)
4. Install TW4Manager
To Install TouchWiz 4.5:
~Launch TW4Manager (fyi only runs in portrait mode)
~Scroll Down to "Check for Updates" -select
~Select "Latest stable version" (you will be warned that you should have alternate launcher installed)
~TouchWiz 4.5 will automatically download and install
Notes
~The default homescreen dock will be setup for 5 icons. To add icons go to appdrawer>menu>edit and then you can drag and drop your new dock icons
~Some preinstalled widgets will not work out of the box. To fix this you'll need to backup and uninstall them (such as DualClock.apk, SamsungWidget_ProgramMonitor.apk, TouchWizCalendar.apk) You can then go into TW4Manager>Widgets>SGS2 widgets-by randomguy123; select your widgets and install; After you install you need to restart Touchwiz in order to use the widget, otherwise it'll show an error when you try to use the widget.

No, uninstall touchwiz using ti backup and then install the twmanager
Does this have hardware acceleration like the stock launcher?
It doesnt say in the thread but it runs exactly the same as the stock launcher except way more options. I havent noticed any speed difference.

Sorry if this has already been posted or in wrong section, and I take no credit for it but I found it to be pretty cool. To add soft keys to rooted stock touchwiz rom all you have to do is add this line to the build prop and reboot.

Agree with you. I am using the same method on my HD2 CM9 for 8 months now.
My SGS3 will arrive today and I am glad that this method will apply to rooted stock rom. Was wondering if this method CM rom only or also stock rom.
Thank you for your information.
IMO this method is way better than some softkey apps because it doesn't use ram and is native like.

I would love to disable my hard keys. I am new at this stuff, so forgive my ignorance.
I have a t-mobile unlocked 32gb white rooted with AOKP jellybean- 4th release
And I cannot find any other mods to the physical buttons, like making the home button a camera button. Not as important, but would love to know if you can tell me.
Thanks!

Would it be possible to (or does some rom already have it that I don't know about) make it so that lockscreen widgets in 4.2 can be fully expanded by default and then unlocked just by swiping the unlock up? So basically the widget could be shrunk back and the phone unlocked all in one motion?
This would basically unlock in a similar way to HTC Sense. I'm just not a huge fan of having to first shrink the widget and then unlock as it feels like a totally unnecessary step.
I think Xylon has quick press and hold to unlock, but I found Xylon to be pretty unstable on my VZW nexus. Could that functionality be ported to any rom? If it matters I'm running Liquid Smooth Beta.
Any help would be awesome. Thanks.
Team sourcery rom has auto maximize widgets and long press lock key to unlock phone. Works very well for what you are looking for

The Nexus devices show a transparent floating list on the right side of the screen where you can swipe away open apps, CM goes one step further and gives you a button to close all open apps. The HTC One takes you to another screen with really small pictures of apps you swipe away one by one to close. Ideally I am looking for the CM version of that, or would even settle for the stock Google version.
Wait until the Google edition then flash that.

Hey Guys,
Back when i had my Nokia n95 "great phone", i could download and install a small animation thing that could animate the screen-turn-on and off so that it looked the a CRT screen from the old days?
- Does anyone know if such a thing exists for the Note II, or if its hard to code?

My apologies, when I read it back it is indeed lousy English. I meant that when you don't actually want to root your device, flashing a whole new rom might be too much. I must say that besides the animation, the rom gives a lot more nice features, yet it stays close to the original Samsung rom, so it would still be interesting to look at maybe. Installing is quite easy and explained in the WanamLite rom thread.
