[Q] [Noob] kernel. - HTC One X

Can the kernel in use on t3 tablets not be ported to this device? Is it just the lack of telephony features that would stump this option?

doubt it my friend. totally different kettle of fish if you ask me..might be wrong but the best bet for kernels is when the kernel source drops..then we shall see some real action happening..till then we have to make do with what we have

ALso, without S-Off on the HOX, you can't really do anything with any Kernel atm.

Dev help answer some questions about Sense UI

Hello Dev and everyones, currently I have mytouch4g. I love Sense and want to get LGX2, is it easier to port Sense to LG firmware? Reason I ask because I never see Samsung galaxy s series, 4G, Nexus S have any Sense port all they have is AOSP rom like CM7, Miui etc... Is it because Samsung use different file system? Can sense be ported to LG? Or should I wait and get Sense phone like Evo 3d, HTC Pyramid?
Thank you

Sense isn't open source, that's why you'll never really see it ported to another device. Pretty much the only option would be to get a Sense phone.

Exactly. It's kind of like how you'll never see MotoBlur or Touchwiz on any non-Moto or non-Samsung device (although I don't know why you would want to with those). The reasons all non-sense roms are AOSP is exactly because it is open source, and can be modified and programmed to cater to specific devices.

Not familiar with Cyanogenmod

I've been following the development of Cyanogenmod 9 and 10 with growing interest and with the roms growing ever nearer to completion I was wondering if someone could tell me what the advantages are of Cyanogenmod 9 & 10 (other than being Jelly Bean).
What exactly are the advantages of CM over the Stock HTC roms?
cyanogen is a mod that every one from a android newbie to Google Android creator's knows... in simple words it gives u experience of stock ics or jb as it shld and released by Google and without any useless stuffs or ui's that are forced into ur phone against ur wish by the manufacturer i hope now its clear? if u wanna know more ask ur friend Google. com

That's how far my knowledge already went, I guess what I'm trying to figure out is, how does it compare to stock HTC on the One V? Faster/More stable? Any features that the stock lacks?
It can he a bit fester, because its missing the bloatware and ofcause its Vater because cm10 runs JB . And in asome Roms there are New tweaks linke the statusbar control.

[Q] Android KitKat?

Do you think Android KitKat would be compatible with Wildfire? It is designed for lower end devices so would it be possible for a port of that new OS?

Probably not. while it may technically be possible to achieve it is highly unlikely that anyone will be able to do it successfully, or even partially.
Just my 2 pence.

I agree that it could be a very good opportunity, im just saying dont get your hopes up i suppose :/ we just about got got 4.1.2 from this dev here . alot of the "main players" have moved on from this device and i dont think we would have the skill to manage this. to start off with we would need a 3.4 kernel i believe, and i dont think they re-introduced support for non gpu devices in 4.3 kitkat so we would need to implement all the hacks that were required to get ics running and port them over to kitkat.
its a nice idea, but to be honest i think the amount of hours it would need to make it function may not actually work towards a stable daily driver
i`m amazed the wildfire got this far to be honest, and im happy i was here for it

Scratch is basically start from the beginning, and it's always better to try making a KitKat ROM for Wildfire, you never know what the outcome could be right?

Both are real words, just used in different context  but yeah it would be defiantly a build from scratch job (using our own source code we would have to make specific to the wildfire)

For bigin, who is able to build or port an 4.2/4.3 kernel for our wildfire.

We are waiting for Android KitKat to be released, we need a device that has a QVGA screen with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels
AFAIK it would run without a 3.4 or even a 3.8 kernel. But the current 2.6 kernel would slow it down. Only very experienced devs can make properly working kernels. And we have almost no 'real' "i build from source" dev left in this forum. (not offensive, i appreciate the work of any dev/porter/whatever here )
4.1 is also running fine with that old arco - kernel but its really slow maybe because of the hardware maybe because of the kernel. I think its a mix of both components.
I tried with @kylon to get a functioning overclock kernel for the htc wildfire bee, (cdma device) and we couldn't manage to get it stable, and that's the buzz's sister phone. It shares almost all the same hardware :/ so I don't think it will be an easy task.

Just my 2p worth but doesn't kitkat and the kernel associated with it look for integrated GPU's which the wildfire simply doesn't have, so if someone was to create a kernel for kitkat you would have to emulate a GPU on the CPU which would slow down the phone to a unusable piece of crap.
Good idea but i doubt it's viable.

Agreed. Ics barely ran without the kernel hacks to make it run. Though it is said that kitkat should be less resource hungry.

Yeah but did ICS have no GPU support? If it did then try porting the ICS hacks to KitKat and see how it goes.

While it's possible I have no idea what hacks were done to make it work. We needed kernel hacks for gingerbread.... The only one that would definitely know would be Arco, as he was the kernel developer for the buzz branch of cyanogenmod. I think most of the work on cm7 and 9 were arcos work, with some help from the guys here of course

[Q] Android 4.4 with Sense

Can we expect a port for our HOX somewhere in the future? HOX is still a pretty powerful device, I don't have any doubt it would run it with the same or better performance than 4.2.2.
no already confirmed by HTC no update to 4.4 with sense...you have to use custom roms like cm11 carbon rom etc for kitkat
I'm not talking about official update. I'm talking about a port (from HTC One for example).
No more update from htc.because no driver support fron NVIDIA
Sent from my LT26ii using xda premium
a port will never be possible because htc one and all other phones which get kitkat with sense are having a different SoC...and porting from qualcomm to tegra and vise versa is as difficult as getting all engines of a plane into a smart

i already said won't work...there are too many things like framework and especially the drivers ! ...there are many libs from qualcomm which can't be ported to a non qualcomm device!
well then that sucks. thanks NVidia
