[Q] Forgot Pin to unlock phone - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I have the Galaxy Nexus GSM model. I changed my pin last night and no clue what I put. I have sat here entering codes for 2 hours. My other phones if I forgot my password it would ask from my gmail password and everything was fine, but it's not asking me for it. I tried the app from the market places but it doesn't work. I tried to do the adb but I don't think I enabled usb debugging. Is there anything I could try to unlock my phone. I just want the photos off the phone I don't really care about doing a hard reset because everything else is backed up. This is the only reason I love and hate Nexus phones for not having a micro sd card. Thanks in advance. I am using my back up phone for a day to see if I can get any help.

A hard reset will NOT wipe your pics if that is what you are implying.

HUGE security flaw

Anyone else uneasy that no matter what if someone finds your phone they can hook up to pc and have access to your internal storage?? Is there no way to change this and have a charge only option under usb?
If someone has your phone plugged into their computer, you either:
1) Are with them
2) Had your phone stolen.
If you have your phone stolen, there's nothing stopping them from battery pulling, going into recovery, and getting all your data from there (granted you're rooted).
Still ide rather not anyone including nosey friends get the pics of my ding dong off my phone with out my permission...
All kidding aside you see my point right
It's very simple, set a passcode and MTP does not show any data until the phone is unlocked.

I typically prefer nekkids of my gf on my phone vs sausage but to each their own
This is why you should likely have the ability to remote-wipe your device (via Software), and why you need to ponder very carefully what data you keep on your phone. The easiest way to avoid your friends finding pictures you'd rather they don't see is not to keep those pictures on your phone in the first place.
There are encryption-based Lockboxes which function on the Galaxy Nexus, and it does actually support Full-Disk encryption (with many bugs and downsides), but in short, you need to assume that anything on your phone is accessible to anybody who cares enough to take it from you. Remember, security never buys you safety against others getting your data, it just gives you time to respond before they can get access.
Wow how foolish of me. I totally didnt realize and i googled this an apparently no.one else did.either thanks

Hahaha its my own sausage i swear.
Seriously though the guy above is correct. Locked my phone, plugged in, and no data shows.until i swipe and enter pin
There are also apps you can download to lock certain apps you don't want opened. (Gallery for instance)
I agree though, the safest and best bet is to set a password on your phone and be done with it!

A setting for my Exchange server for my company that i work for reminds me each time setup my phone that they can remote wipe my phone. As can i From our Web Access portal for email. Just another option.
Will
Mine doesn't work that way.
I have a pattern set on my galaxy nexus. If I connect it to my computer the "internal storage" doesn't show up until I unlock the phone.
However, if you lost your phone, there are numerous ways to get your data. This applies to most phones out there
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
move the pics you don't want people to see into a hidden folder then they wont show up in the gallery
I have "gotya" installed. Not only will send me the gps location of my ohone command but also take a pic of the peraon using the phone when.an incorrect pin is entered. Screw wiping my phone ill just go get it myself

Help unlocking phone please

My daughter has a sprint galaxy note 4 and last night she was watching Hulu and her phone jumped to the password screen, problem is the fingerprint scanner doesnt show up and her password isnt unlocking the phone (wrong password). Im an apple user myself and am clueless to her phone, ive called sprint and they suggested a factory reboot, problem is she has pictures on her phone of her grandmother that passed away and doesnt want to lose them ofcourse. She doesnt have the debugg active and no way to access that that i know of because the phone is locked, is there a way to take off the lock?
Tried restarting the phone? I've had the fingerprint mess up before and only allow me to use password but it fortunately worked

permanent pin locked screen

I need some technical help as I have a really weird problem with my zenfone 2. A couple of weeks ago I bought some skype credit and made a phone call. For some ungodly reason right after this call there was a pin screen in place, with no warning or messages. I tried to put in several pin numbers as I thought it was a sim lock but nothing could get past the lock. I tried putting in 5 wrong codes in the hope to see a "forget password" button but nothing. I tried resetting the lock via google device manager and it says that it can't since a screenlock is present and will not reset the pin. I have even tried to get into recovery mode so that I can do a factory reset but at this stage I get an "error" here so this avenue is also blocked. I have even attached the phone via usb to the computer but the computer sees and empty hard disk. I have even tried to use adb to take a look inside, but this did not work either as the device is not seen. I have also tried rebooting in safe mode but the screen lock behaviour is just the same. . At the moment the wifi is also off so now google device manager can not locate the phone So at the moment I am out of ideas. I am now inclined to believe that my phone has been hijacked by some sort of new yet super sophisticated lockware/malware.
I have already accepted that all our family photos including the ones from our recent holiday are permanently gone for good with no chance in hell of recovering them.
Does anyone have any ideas to get around this annoying problem?
So what are my options? Is there any software that I can use to break this beasts back? Do you have any suggestions?

G3 locked out help

Edit: when the device has no internet the email used to unlock the phone is useless. The phone should keep the email and pass locally. So don't forget you pin or let anyone enter the wrong thing. I had to factory reset it however it still retained root. Strange? I wasn't able to obtain any data so far. I may try to dig deeper with a recovery program but right now I no longer need use of the device (my son has a new toy, lol).
This is my phone. Before anyone says it's not trust me it is and I can prove it via old cell bills. And that Google still has it attached to the account.
I need back into it for a few very important photos relating to an accident a few months ago.
This model was on the us cellular network. It is not an active phone. (No data). Here is my problem, not being able to connect to data or wifi networks I am locked out because my son played with the 4 digit pin. The phone now asks for my email and password. Of which I know but the phone will not accept it. Thinking that I might have updated my password since I was on the G3 last I have tried all passwords that I know I have used and still nothing. This phone is also rooted. With stock jellybean.
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm trying to avoid data loss. As I need the few images off the phone. After I get them off I really don't care what happens to the device.
march 16 per google was the last active date. From then till now it's only been a paperweight because I thought google backed up my images which isn't the case.
Does google keep passwords in a viewable manner in case I forgot one I used?
Edit: google doesn't save passes for viewing unless in your browser saved password section, however I wonder how it knows of a duplicate pass when changing the current one.

My Note 10+ 5G (Snapdragon) factory reset itself and my SD card...any hope?

I have no idea what happened. I was cleaning up leaves in my yard today, went to pull my phone out to take a picture, and found that it had factory reset itself in my pocket, and wiped my SD card along with it. I have a lot of my stuff backed up, but there is a lot that's not backed up as well. I'm really hoping there is a way to get my data back -- is there?
A quick search on Google for recovery applications gives many options, but they all need root access, and I don't think that's possible on the Snapdragon.
I'm currently running a scan on my SD card outside of my phone with an application called MiniTool. No idea if this will yield results or not.
Any suggestions?
Theres an app called galaxy labs but dont think that would be much use I think what would have happened was phone in pocket pin got accidentally typed 10 times to then cause the factory reset you could try the samsung and google route to restore but might not have everything
Ugh. Bummer, for real. My heart is broken.
Is there a way to disable the 10 attempts thing? I've noticed that this phone unlocks itself and hits buttons quite often. I'm surprised this didn't happen sooner.
It's also possible that someone hacked your google or Samsung account and wiped your device remotely...
Not probable but I'd definitely be resetting passwords...
Just a thought...

Yes. Under secure lock settings. It's off by default actually normally.
If your sd card wasn't encrypted you have a chance of finding those files. Just make sure you keep it out of the phone and don't write anything on it until you have been able to use a file eraser app to find them. I've done it before myself.
That sucks man, if you had encrypt the card then i don't think data recovery will help. Well here's to hoping you didn't.
Losing data sucks especially if it's years worth....I've been there. I had an old tool I used back in the day I'll try to find it again man that thing did wonders recovering images but videos not so much, did recover a good amount though.
Also, don't go downloading any and all data recovery tool on the internet....lots are bogus.
