Nice I will test it this evening
I can't install it, followed the steps and this showed up:
-- Installing: /sdcard/GIOPowerV1.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
E:Error in /sdcard/GIOPowerV1.zip
(Status 6)
Installation aborted
Status6 error is a error that says that the updater-script contains a fault. You should check it or write it again. and which text editor are you using? by notepad++ you have to view all charakters, maybe there commes a line that you didn't edit, or just couldnt find.

Yeah, what's up with that ??
I mean when you develop or port a rom it would be normal for you to test if it works yourselve first wouldn't it ?
It seems as if these roms are being released without the DEV's even installing them to try them first.
Seems really dangerous to me...

True, testing woud be nice, as uploading also takes a bit of time....
But you should not justify it, as those people still try to develop, and dont intend to not let the rom boot ofcourse..
So please remove your signature, as it is typed in a justifiable style, in colors, and size. It shouldnt be there at all. If you dont like a devs work, tell him, rate the thread of the dev thread gou dont like. But dont set that in your signature, as this does not count for all, but all can read your signature where you post comments on, and suggest thats for them as their rom has a bug or crashes or anything...
Nice name for a Gio rom There is no download atm its seems.

I' don't completely understand what you are saying. The word 'justify' means something else then you must be thinking of: "Justify: To demonstrate or prove to be just, right, or valid:"
And that's not what I'm doing, I don't mean to prove I am right. I 'think' you mean to say I should not judge ?
If so, why not ?? Do you find it normal that a rom is released that can't even be installed ??
In my opinion the dev should at least have made sure the installation process works as intended,
by installing the rom on his own device first.
From what I read above in this tread this is already the 3rd not working rom. That's bad practice in my book.
And about my signature. If I recall correctly you voted I AGREE to the poll, and now all of a sudden you're offended by it ?
To quote a comment you made:
The thing is, if roms arent functional, and have much or a few huge bugs, nobody will use,download it, and it will be a 'dead' end, as there are too many to choose from.
So I prefer having 10 roms working 100% , then 50 roms with bugs.

That topic has been closed anyways, mostly because people started flaming one and other (not naming names ).
I was planning on removing it anyways because no one can contribute anymore.
But if you look at the results of the poll many people agreed with me (and you).
I think you're a great guy remco and have nothing against you.
You've helped me out a few times and I really appreciate it.
I just disagree with what you are saying above.

Hi,
I for one is an eternal seeker of a lagfree SGS. But, being Sztupy, he can only spew out TECH. Most people either misunderstand, misinterpret or misdo things that he says & get into trouble.
My request here. Can a dev put things into perspective & give out a simple detailed guide for everyone? It needs to be lucid & comprehensive, & to be understood by both a layman as well as Einstein.
Thanks to all of you for the good work. I now feel proud I chose SGS over X10, my daughter gave me 10 seconds to choose.

A guide for a kernel that is meant to be for people to make experimenting easy... kinda strange
Of course there might be a guide which tells you how to achieve the most stable config with ultk, but I'd rather flash voodoo in that case as it's much more stable. (but it's not really meant for people who want to experiment with different hacks and tweaks).
Btw. some cookers already use ultk in their config, and provide some guide on which option to choose (usually they tell you use no-rfs advanced ext4). They also have the added benefit that using the same rom there are less problems and more people can actually try to guess what went wrong (as all of the people on that rom topic are actually using more or less the same config).
The ultk, because it's just a kernel can be flashed to a lot of different roms, and it's possible some of it bugs are there because it's in some way or another incompatible with that particular rom.
Although a simple guide would be:
- Reboot to download mode (by holding voldown+home+power while switching on)
- Flash a complete JPM or JP6 based ROM, using Odin (re-partition ticked, use the 512 pit, and use a package that contains all images (dbdata,cache,system), although dbdata might be optional)
- After flashing reboot to download mode.
- Flash the kernel image over on that rom, using Odin (re-partition is not ticked, only the image is set as the PDA part)
- After flashing reboot to recovery mode (by holding volup+home+power while switching on)
- In the recovery menu chose Advanced ULK features->Lagfix options->No -RFS Advanced (a=e4)
- Press "reboot to recovery"
- After reboot chose not to create a backup, nor a restore
- After it boots up in recovery again press reboot again.
- You'll have a clear system with ext4 on all data partitions

Yep, it's actually preferred to use that rom as a base.
Ok, I'll try and flash it. Sztupy, your ROM is the only Froyo ROM I'm using. Thank You GREAT JOB!!!!
Pls correct me if I am wrong (still learning):
'Ext4 + ext2' means loop means buffer does not fsync ? It this safe? Not always 100% sure everything if saved?
Bind means using a faster but smaller partition ? Safe except for 'running out of space' problems ?
Correct? or?
I still need to test read speeds: How fast is RFS reads compared to EXT4 reading speed? I still believe an ALL EXT4 would be the best lag-fix!
Can /efs be made EXT4? I know /SYSTEM can. I need 48 hours in a day!
Thanks
JKay

more detail please, like tweaks and kernel, what miui kitchen(nothing fancy?) have you added something besides what is in the kitchen(mustard, ketchup?)
What is in the ROM? MIUI has come a long way though. They need to work on their camera app still.
Hey, let us see some screenshots. 'Your needs' isn't enough as details. I am looking forward to it because you might have really combined some good combos which might be worthy enough of a additional download.

No offense intended, but if you cooked a ROM using the MIUI Kitchen then the only apparent effort on your part was making a few selections using spasms website (MIUI Kitchen) and downloading a zip.
Does sharing the above mentioned ZIP file make it eligible for the Development section? It's not your creation right?
Wouldn't we rather cook our own ROM considering that we all can? Just saying you know.
Do correct me if any thing I said is incorrect. Or perhaps, just out of line.
If we all begin to post the roms that we cook using the MIUI kitchen, then development section would be a mess. With all my respect, I think this doesn´t deserve a thread in this section.

Don't worry fella. I wasn't out looking for a war of words either. I was honestly confused as to the purpose of this thread in the Dev section.
As a side note, if you have been around on this thread for a long time, you might recall the Doc's kitchen. And I don't mean the current iteration. I am referring to the original Kitchen where the Dev section had about 10 - 15 odd ROM's. Many Dev's built their ROM's around the ones generated off that online kitchen. But they always added their bit to make the ROM stand out of the crowd. Some made it better. Some skinned. Some added new features.
If you have a development background, you might consider doing the same.
i would like to have the knowledge to bouild my own rom. i don't know either where to start

** PLEASE BE AWARE! THIS SCRIPT IS FOR "T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II" WILL ALSO WORK ON "AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket" ONLY! IF YOU FLASH THIS ON ANY OTHER DEVICE YOU MIGHT HAVE A VERY EXPENSIVE PAPER WEIGHT! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! PLEASE CONTACT ME FIRST IF ANY OTHER QUESTIONS **
:: DARKSIDE.SUPER.WIPE ::
:: DARKSIDE.CACHE.WIPE ::
..A DARKSIDE DEVELOPMENT..
This is a small script i threw together a while back. I have incorporated in many of my ROMS, usually runs with a installation flag '-wipe'. The script does exactly as the title explains. It is SUPER.WIPE that does the most thorough wipe possible. This exceeds anything that CWM is capable of from the menu options. This will format and erase EVERYTHING on your /system, /data, /cache partions with EXT4 file system. It WILL NOT wipe SD CARD or EMMC... After it is complete with format and earse, it will align all disks partitions properly. This is a great tool to flash right before installing any new ROM on your device. No need to worry if you have wiped properly. Let the script do it for you! ENJOY!
Instructions on using DARKSIDE.SUPER.WIPE:
* WILL NOT WIPE SD CARD OR EMMC *
IMMEDIATELY BEFORE FLASHING ROM OF YOU CHOICE, DO THE FOLLOWING...
1. Place on ROOT of your SD card.
2. Boot into Recovery Mode
3. Do a NAND BACKUP!!!
4. Flash DARKSIDE.SUPER.WIPE
5. Stay inside recovery
6. Flash desired ROM.
7. After flashing is complete, Reboot...
8. Done!

"so that is the reason for the darkside.cache.wipe... because you cant wipe the cache in recovery... recovery as in CWM right? except through script like in your Darkside.cache.wipe?" (Quote from @Rushing)
ONLY USE THIS IF YOU NEED TO WIPE CACHE'S OR FIX PERMISSIONS IN CLOCKWORK MOD RECOVERY. THIS IS TO BE FLASHED IN RECOVERY! This replaces the need for using the broken built in CWM recovery functions. The DARKSIDE.CACHE.WIPE script will wipe both the /cache partition and the dalvik cache. After its has completed the wipe, it will then fix permissions (the correct way). This should hopefully fix that damn ICS reboot hang issue once and for all.
** PLEASE respect my work and ask my permission before posting mirrors or using any parts **
you underestimate the power of the DARKSIDE
not sure why yet???
Thanks from this. I've been waiting for something like this as a seperate flashable. comes in handy when you do a lot of testing.

Hi,
Seems like a great tool. I have a suggestion. When posting such tools that aren't device-specific and work on all (or a majority of) Android devices, please consider posting them in the appropriate Android Development and Hacking forums (should be either Android Software and Hacking General or Android Software Development in this case), rather than device-specific forums. Once posted there, you can then make a post here as well with a brief description of the tool and provide the link to the main post in the appropriate section.
This way, the tool will get more exposure, plus it'll make things a little less confusing for the new users who might think the tool is specific only to that device in question.
Well, that's my two cents. Keep up the great work! =)

Different devices have different partition mappings so one tool will NOT work for all devices .......... sorry but you are incorrect in telling him to post in a general forum.
IE
Mmcblk2 might be /boot on one device, or /recovery on another and /system on yet another.
Wiping a recovery partition accidently could cause bricks ....
PS

The script cleans the left over files of a kernel, to prevent issues or compatibility problems when switching between kernels, kinda like Ccleaner for windows.
It does a cache wipe / dalvik cache wipe and a few other operations, basically it does the maintenance job for you, no need to manually do those tasks before flashing a new kernel.

Really? REALLY?
I've just looked at it and it took me a minute to stop laughing long enough to post.
Ok people, here's the low down.
ui_print("Formatting Cache Partition");
delete_recursive("/cache");
Why?
ui_print("Wiping Dalvik Cache");
delete_recursive("/data/dalvik-cache");
What the christ? Why? What has dalvik got to do with kernels? PRECISELY NOTHING. Why are you making the boot time longer than it needs to be?
So far, we're doing things not related to kernels, that people can do themselves via recovery.
Code:
delete("/system/etc/init.d/S91voltctrl");
delete("/system/etc/init.d/S98bolt_siyah");
delete_recursive("/sbin/siyah");
delete_recursive("/data/.siyah");
delete_recursive("/system/.siyah");
delete("/system/etc/init.d/01siyah");
delete("/system/etc/init.d/S_volt_scheduler");
delete_recursive("/data/void-settings");
delete("/res/misc/void");
delete("/system/bin/void");
delete("/xbin/bin/void");
delete("/res/misc/NEAK-Downloader.apk");
delete_recursive("/data/neak");
delete("/res/neak.extra");
delete_recursive("/sbin/near");
delete("/system/etc/lionheart");
delete("/system/etc/schedmc");
delete_recursive("/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq");
delete_recursive("/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu/cpufreq");
delete("/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu/sched_mc_power_savings");
delete_recursive("/system/.androidmeda");
delete_recursive("/data/data/net.fluxi.xxTweaker");
delete_recursive("/data/data/net.fluxi.xxTweak/");
delete("/data/app/net.fluxi.xxTweaker-1.apk");
delete("/data/.notweaker");
delete_recursive("/data/.Abyss/");
delete_recursive("/system/.Abyss/");
delete("/sbin/ext/abyss.sh");
delete("/res/misc/S90abyss");
delete("/data/data/com.teamblockbuster.thoravukk.app");
delete("/data/app/com.teamblockbuster.thoravukk.app");
delete("/system/etc/init.d/thoravukk");
delete("/data/.thoravukk");
delete_recursive("/data/data/com.teamblockbuster");
delete("/system/litepro");
delete("/system/etc/init.d/99nstools");
delete("/data/user.log");
delete("/system/Hawker.u.copier");
There's a -lot- of stuff there more related to applications on the market rather than kernels. Why are you deleting them?
Especially hilarious is this:
Code:
delete_recursive("/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq");
delete_recursive("/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu/cpufreq");
delete("/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu/sched_mc_power_savings");
Why do you not understand that these files are generated at boot time? They're created based on the kernel running. In fact, deleting these files has no effect whatsoever because when you reboot out of recovery THEY ARE GONE ANYWAY, to be replaced by whatever kernel boots under a normal boot.
You clearly do not understand this. I could go even further into how utterly retarded this zip file's existence is, but to do so is a severe devaluation of my time because of just how hilariously a waste of time your "tool" or "kernel cleaner" is. You haven't the first clue of what you're doing so why are you encouraging people to download and use this crap, which is at worst a detriment to their system and themselves and at best does nothing of value at all?
I mean you don't even clear out old modules!

Hello Gio users, I have compiled MiniCM10 for Galaxy Gio . I don't own this devices. So i need Beta testers. Any experienced android user can test. Tester must be able to take logcat so that i can fix bugs!
To haters: If you are not interested, Stay away from this thread!
P.S. You can check my profile to see all my work!

yep i want to test it but why don't you make MiniCM10.1? CM10.1 is more faster and beautiful than cm10
MiniCM10 is after market ROM like ParanoidAndroid, AOKP, Cyanmobile, etc. It is totally different ROM Created by NobodyAtAll (RD), Dark_dog (RT) & Team. It has more features then CM10 Plus It is specially Built For LDPI Devices. MiniCM10 is specially made for msm7x27 semc devices (Low Legacy Devices)
you can PM me its link so i can test that rom and see what bugs i found.
---
I can't get it to download him.my internet connection is terribly slow.it downloads at just 15kb/sec

Now need to investigate its some files that makes device not to install the rom.
EDIT # 3:
Tried to remove some useless "Set_perm" lines but it still says that error
EDIT # 4:
Seams to be "audio_effects.conf" permission is wrong in /vendor/etc instead of /system/etc.lets try to flash again.
