[ENG.DEV.] Sony Bravia Engine -DesZ- HQ IMAGE/MOVIE Quality Improvements

Hello guys i'm very happy to share with you this...BRAVIA ENGINE! Enjoy
I tell about this: video
IT's A Post-Processing Engine, so you can view the improvements only on your phone's screen...enjoy new quality!
1) GUIDE for Manual Installation on each Rom! (2.2 & 2.3)
-Download BraviaE Files Pack: HERE
-Extract files on phone and put they in the directory:
Code:
[B]/system/etc[/B]
-Open /system/build.prop with a text editor (like RootExplorer)
and add these lines at the end:
Code:
#Additional Tweaks by XxXPachaXxX
#Bravia Engine Service
ro.service.swiqi.supported=true
persist.service.swiqi.enable=1
-Then, Save the file and Exit
-Now, set the right permissions or open a terminal emulator and execute:
Code:
su
busybox chmod 0755 /system/etc/be_photo
busybox chmod 0755 /system/etc/be_movie
busybox chown 0.0 /system/etc/be_photo
busybox chown 0.0 /system/etc/be_movie
-Fully Reboot the device and enjoy BRAVIA
DOWNLOADS:::INFO:::SUPPORT
hi, I had tried but when I write on emulator "busybox chmod 0755 /system/etc/be_photo
" it replies to me "Busybox permission denied"!
which ROM is supported??
It's supposed to work only when viewing photos/vids?
If so, it seems to work for me. Contrast bumped a bit.
Unity 2.39 on European DZ, if anyone's interested.
Would be good if it's possible to add this BE toggle to settings, to disable/enable it on the fly (to compare the image quality, for ex.)
Thanks for your post.
edit: nope, it seems it doesn't work. got another dz to compare and there's absolutely no difference in image quality.
maybe some devs will get their hands on this thing?
Flashable zips ? 0_o where?

Yeah I'd like the flash zip
Not into changing permission and crap. Too lazy
Also will it work on miui and cm7?

Same xD Flashing a zip would be nicer than messing with permissions xD
Thanks for your work, but I've tried it and this makes no difference whatsoever.
I've installed it without a problem. I don't see very much difference between having it enabled or not, and installation is too cumbersome to maintain everytime I update to a new rom or nightly. Its cool, but too much hastle. Make it a flashable zip if you want more people to use it.
Not the biggest difference in the world. But it still looks really nice and it's a joy to use. I love it!

Type "su -", press enter, than type the busybox command.
Honestly, I'm not even sure if this even runs at all. Putting two files in /system/etc and adding 2 lines to build.prop doesn't seem to me that it makes anything run. I'm not 100% sure how build.prop works, so I might be wrong.
I've tried the fix on one G2 and compared to another G2 on the same picture, at the same time. Exact same picture quality, but then again, my eyes might not be good enough.

If you cannot see the difference then obviously the quality change is insignificant enough to disregard the trouble of typing in all these commands
I applied this patch, but i have to say for me its also hard to see the difference... Is there any way to proof that its working?

I agree. I can't tell a difference on video either. I CAN tell when Sony did it's demo but this... nada. I smell bs here. I doubt a rendering engine can be so small. It seems like these are just files that accompany an engine and not the full deal. The OP needs to come up with some proof that this sh!t runs because the consensus is that same everywhere he posts this: it doesn't do a thing!
This is a dev forum. But I have only seen one person reply with anything dev worthy. By that I mean what rom they are using. Just saying you ran this on a g2 or a DZ does not help anything. More info about what your running would be best to make this discussion worth anything.
Also. What video are you attempting to view? Something converted to the phones resolution? Video taken with the phone? A blueray 1080p rip? I see alot of *****ing but no info coming forth.

it was me, lol
But ROM name/version won't help here IMO.
The files OP has uploaded are too small.
And the contents is quite strange. Not an ELF or any other binary. Maybe just a screen color profile, sort of ICC. But it won't work if we just put them onto phone.
There should be some service to manage all these things. Something from /system/lib or /system/framework. There's something about "swiqi" service in original post, but there's no file for this.
Why should our rom just use files put to /etc?
So I'm guessing it won't work... maybe just yet

Replace DroiSans.ttf (and DroidSanBold.ttf) in /system/fonts/ with your preferred font.
You'll need to be rooted of course.
so, almost same way than GB. Do we need busybox installed?

And btw I can't install busybox from busybox installer...
Sent from my Wonder
As far as I know on stock ROM without supercharge, its normal for launcher redraws(lag) especially when running lots of apps.My advice is If you dont't want to run the supercharger then you need to clear the memory often either using the stock task manger or 3rd party app. However, this effect is much less on CM9 and I actually don't use V6 script on CM9.

What happens to your phone is normal. If you use too many apps you have too many background process that slow down the cpu.
Supercharge your phone is a smart answer and a perfect solution for you problem.
Had u check if u are really rooted (the busybox problem)?
Try with "root checker" in play store.
Thank you all for help..
And thank you for your useful information ,anyway I decided to install remics rom ...and things went very well....but might revert back to stock however, any body know how to import system apps from the stock rom or from other Samsung s3 device..?

You can do it without any root. You just have to edit the apk in order to make it work with multiwindow.. There was an app here on xda that modifies the apk, so you only need to download the apk from whatsapp site (not the market), edit it, and install.. All should be fine

n few other apps too
hw can i do it
i found few apps where i didnt have to root but the were available fr multiwindow
but only whatsapp is giving the trouble its not getting installed
i found those apps here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2039710
May i ask why you wanna use whatsapp in multiview? I tried it and its useless, the whole multiview is useless in my opinion, oke its nice to annoy ipnone owners
i use whatsapp very often
so if its available in multiwindow
i can workout easily
I think we just have to wait on the app devs to develop apps that can properly handle multi view.
Lord knows some are still not fully 4.1.2 friendly and worse with 4.2 on the nexus.
Whats app is in bad need of some updates. For example: scrolling is awful... even on 4.2
So I say we just have to wait.

[Scripts]Build.prop Scripts - OnScreen Keys - Model Edits

Fix Model
This will install a script to fix ro.product.model, CM 10.1 uses GT-N7105 for the model this can cause a few issues with play store and what not. It also shows on xda app and tapatalk. With nightlies coming out every night its a pain to keep changing build.prop to fix so just flash this and run one command then you are set. This will help those not sure or wanting to manually edit build.prop.
This will work for any rom but it seems this issue is only on CM 10.1 because they are supporting other carriers too.
Usage:
Flash in recovery right after flashing/updating CM
Open up terminal emulator and type su be sure the $ changes to #
Then type fixit
Reboot
Profit !
On a side note you can make model whatever you want by editing the script /system/bin/fixit, change SGH-T889 to whatever you want it to be...
Enable/Disable OnScreen Keys:
These scripts will enable or disable onscreen navigation keys.
Usage:
Flash zip in recovery right after flashing/upgrading cm
Open terminal emulator type su be sure $ changes to #
Type keyson to enable onscreen keys or keysoff to disable them
Reboot
Profit !
Note: These will work with ANY rom Touchwhiz or AOSP builds !!
Thank you for this. I did notice that it said n7105. I have one question though. If I use this will the cm updater still work? I mean it is not really that big of a deal I can just do it the usual way but I am just wondering.

Added scripts to enable/disable onscreen keys
Wouldn't it be better to just mount /system and run the script from /tmp in recovery itself?
It would streamline the update process to two steps with no need to muck in the terminal emulator.
Either way I'll "borrow" this to make flashing non-T889V ROMs (that's pretty much all of them) easier.
Thanks,
Darkshado
