I was on AOKP a few days ago, jumped back to Blazer 4.1 due to the smoothness. Something that AOKP had that was tight was the built in Emoji in MMS.
I was reading and there seems to be a way to replace certain font files to see Emoji's instead of boxes, but I can't get it working. I've moved things to System/font and deleted things, with no positive result.
Here is my question... can somebody post how to get Emoji to be able to be viewed? I understand you need a different keyboard to input them, that isn't an issue, but in order to see them from other people (iPhone users), I need assistance with the font files.
Or, if somebody could post that MMS.apk from AOKP, that would work as well. The font way looked more appealing, simple because it decodes them on other apps, not just the MMS app, but beggers can't be choosers.
Thanks guys!

In another attempt of having a stable phone, with the AOSP dialer/contacts/messaging...
I know we have a few [stable, but sorta not stable] roms that are AOSP related,
I understand so much code can/cant be transfered from Sense into making an AOSP Rom, and I understand that. im an older C+ / VB programmer, and understand trying to make something out of decompiled code is a *****, so ...
instead of trying to make a rom that is all converted over,
why hasn't anyone, in the time of Hero/Sense, all the way till now,
hasent anyone just made an app that is coded/looks just like the regular
AOSP Dialer/contact/messaging stuff?
Not to completely replace our phones dialer and what not, but still id end up clicking this "made up" app before I would click my regular dialer icon..
I mean, there are plenty of apps that read our call logs, contacts list
stock dialer/contacts dont look too complicated, is it the layout that would be hard?
Are there any developers that read this? Can anyone lead me in the right direction? Like, list of APIs/whatever type of stuff that is called from in Android coding? Im no stranger to code, but i know nothing about android coding / java.
But again, can anyone send me the right direction? I understand get the Android SDK emulator and what not, but i dont feel like following slow moving tutorials for hello world widgets.
Ill be more than happy to do this day and night, to get desired results.
I dont think im asking too much, and I could make this a way longer explanation.
Thanks again to anyone / everyone thats willing to help, or that is interested.
Really? No one?
Just shed some light for me, come onn
why not extract some .apk's from a working ROM that has the aosp elements and putting them into another ROM you want to transfer them from? i dunno thats where i would start before trying to copy whats already created basically.
Can't you just push the mms.apk and contacts.apk from aosp via adb? I coulda sworn it worked on my hero
Ok, so I searched that exact search string and did not see anything like it so here is my question....
I am using Zone23's EVO-Zone Riptide Rom. I love the ROM and the theme has everything I like except for the little Android guy. I like the blue, but as much as I dislike Apple as well I can do without the little crossed out apple on Andy's chest. I modified photoshopped it and it came out just fine. I thought maybe that was the same one used in the list of contacts too but when I list my contacts, you can see the small Andy with the crossed out apple on his chest in the list. I am looking for what apk file find that little icon. I have tried the following apks and did not see it. I am hoping someone may know:
phone.apk
htcdialer
contacts provider
htccontacts
phone
I did find the large one in: Phone.apk\res\drawable-hdpi\phone_default.png
I have attached the examples of what I did thus far and the one icon I am trying to change.
Thanks in advance for any help!
I changed the avatars all at once....so I'm not sure what is what, but there are 2 more in
system\framework\com.htc.resources\res\drawable-hdpi

Yep, that did it. Never would have thought to look there. Lots of good things to change in that folder. Thanks for the help!
No problem, man.
After searching for quite awhile now, I haven't found anyone/anywhere that has themed the messaging app. I'm running CM7 RC2 (amazing) and have been running AOSP for awhile now. I would like to know what is involved in customizing the look of the messaging application. In looking through the .apk it seems like there would be more to it then simply changing .pngs. Are there .xml edits that would have to be made as well?
Specifically, I want to make some sort of conversation "bubble" for each sms/mms in a thread. (Yes, kind of like the iOS messaging look, but no, not the same. I despise the iPhone.) I realize I'm taking multiple risks of burning in fire by posting this but I figured I would try anyway...

Hi
I would have put this under the BlackJelly thread in the dev forum, but it seems that I'm not yet allowed to post replied there. So, I'm posting here, in hopes for help.
I have a few issues, but I will open them up in seperate threads, as though they are all about basic issues w\ BlackJelly, they are still quite distinct.
I'll start off by saying that generally speaking, I LOVE this ROM. I do, however, have a few issues that I need to take care of.
One of those issues is the T9 dialer. I use it very often. My problem is that it is only in English and my contacts are stored mostly in Hebrew. Is there any way of adding this to the dialer? I prefer not to stay on the stock dialer and not use exdialer (or other third party dialers) for a few reasons: (1) If I theme the ROM, I'd want the dialer to also be themed, (2) I want the dialer to clear my missed call notifications. It doesn't quite do the trick with exdialer and (3) I'd generally prefer as little uncessary software installed, so two dialers is a bit excessive.
If there's no way to do it, I'd appreciate getting an answer as to how I can at least solve issue (2) (clearing notifications).
Thanks!

Wouldn't changing your device's language to hebrew fix your issue?
yes. But what if I simply dislike the Hebrew interface? I just need the Hebrew t9.

I'm trying to add a custom iconset I made to a paid theme of mine. As posted by a couple other people there are apparently some issues with this that no one can figure out. Well I am making this post to hopefully find people who are willing to help me squash this. As an independent themer with limited time this frustrates the piss out of me. I also have Go Locker themes that no one can every help me with my issues and it drives me crazy... anyway back to Zooper. This is my post from G+
having problems with my apk when I build it since I added my custom iconset. can anyone give me any insight on this?
currently it's in
assets/iconset/whatever/whatever/config.xml.jet with the font in there also whatever.ttf.jet
this is how it's exported in the apk templete from the app itself though and thats the only thing not working, is the iconset.
so to recap, the app install, loads, and works minus my icons from the custom iconset.
I'm lost.
I also tried removing all the .jet extensions like someone suggested and it didn't fix it...
the name of the iconset shows up and everything. just no preview image. it was like that when it was .jet too.
tried taking away all the .jet extensions everywhere too... no luck
trying to build using Android Studio if that matters
so far I tried taking out one of the folders so it was just
/assets/iconsets/whatever/config.xml & the font and that got letters to show up at least, just not from my font.
I also tried putting the zip file in there so it was
/assets/iconsets/whatever.zip
no luck either way... anyone else care to chime in or have any other ideas?

Font-based icon sets are broken in Zooper APKs. This has been a known problem for a long time and there have been some attempts to fix this issue but those were by users most of the time (here is one good example: https://plus.google.com/u/0/106201536507820539535/posts/dY1vras522H). The devs haven't responded to this for a while now. Might be they are working on it, might also be that theme APKs are not a priority anymore since the buyout through Themer. Hard to tell since the communication with the developers has stopped almost entirely.

Thank you so much for this information. It's sad to see one of the best customization apps on Android lose support like that but not surprising. So... are we able to create Themer themes? I can't imagine them being much different than their Zooper counterpart.
