I'm looking for a pretty thin case that will just give me a better grip on the phone and still keep the slim form factor. Liike a rubberized coating, not gel type that attracts dust and lint.
The depth the edges of the case add to the screen has to be minimal too if you know what I mean. The only case that I have in mind right now is the seido surface case.
Incipio Feather all the way. Not sure where you are located, but if there is a US Cellular store in your area, they carry them in stock for their GS2 (which is the same as ours). It is about as minimal as you can get, and it looks amazing on the phone.
You could also go standard TPU, but I like the Feather a lot better.

Another vote for the Feather here. Nice grippy feel, still easily removed from pocket, minimal bulk added to phone. Can lay the phone flat on its face without fear of any screen damage, or face up without the camera lens touching the surface. perfect fit. I got the grey case and it looks great.

Other than taking ~2 weeks to arrive, it is wonderful, and I can't complain about the long shipping time when it was $1.99 including shipping.

I do. It's thin, but definitely not what I would consider minimalistic case as it's thicker and has a bit of weight to it. The kickstand causes the thickness but is by far one of the most useful things I've used for an accessory.

I just saw that case mate now has the pop case available for the ET. I am debating pulling the trigger on one of these instead of the barely there aluminum one.

like the stand, but
notice they don't show a true side view, I'm thinking this thing adds some width
I'm debating between this and the Tough cases... I want something still light and thin.
I am kind of sitting tight at the moment looking at what is out there. Right now the only one I have seen that has a holster to fit it is the combo that sprint has. I will probably wait until seidio releases their surface combo. But it is nice to see that more and more cases are starting to show up.
this case was already video reviewed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1292253
The reviewer just keeps repeating "it is white", "that's the case"...thanks for the insight....
It does look a lot thicker, sticking with my TPU for now.
this is the case I've decided on. I love the thin phone and all that.. but I do actually prefer a little bulk to hold on to when I game, plus this looks like it adds a good amount of protection plus a stand to boot. I wish either otterbox or trident would make a case but this will due in the meantime
The one from boxwave looks very similar to this one.

I just ordered this from the CM website (carbon/black). $35 was more than I wanted to spend but I didn't buy insurance for my ET4G so I don't want to wait any longer and possibly drop it. Looks good though. I wanted something that covered all sides of the phone.
I think this will be the case I get. I'd like to see some comparison with other cases like the TPU one.
We offer both the Tough Series and the Pop! Series in our shop for this product. Ironically, the Pop! case does add a little more "beef-ier" stance to the phone versus the Tough case.
We just got our paws on the Tough Cases in Black and Black/Pink along with some Barely There Series cases in Black, Pink and White
I have this case, the matte black tpu one, and the carbon fiber kickstand case as well. I really like this case, however if u are one who really likes the thinness of your GS2 then this case is not for you. It does add considerable bulk to the phone and with it having a 4.52" screen already, the pop case turns it into a beast. But don't forget that it also adds great protection to your investment. I like how the pop case is only one piece, and not two layers that guy together on your phone. The inner rubberized layer should add great cushion to any drop your phone experiences, along with the built in gorilla glass spoils make your phone indestructible. I also enjoy the pleasing aesthetic that this case offers with its white/grey color scheme, as it's likely the reason i choose this case over the case-mate tough case.

Just got this case in the mail today. It definitely adds some size to an already large phone. Overall I'm happy with it though and it's much easier to get a grip on it for sure. Also the phone seems practically indestructible with this case. If protecting your phone is the top priority this is for you. The only complaint I have is that the kickstand is a bit flimsy since its a pretty soft plastic. I'd like to see if Casemate decides to make a brushed metal barely there case with a kickstand. I'd buy one if they do.
I love this case. It does double the thickness of the phone but its no worse than an evo in a commuter.

Yeah the trade off is worth it to have it protected IMO. Feels really solid but not bulky. When i pull it out people are always like what the hell is that? Whoa the screens huge! Haha.
Anyone have any thoughts on which case is better?--the Case-Mate Barely There or the Incipio Feather Hard Shell.
I want something that won't increase the thickness of my phone too much but will still offer some protection. Thanks!
I have the incipio case and it's pretty nice. Adds a bit more girth, about 1mm in every direction, feels good in my meat paw. It definitely adds some good protection, which is what I'm more concerned about. It has that soft feel plastic and rubber that everyone loves. Biggest complaint is it's a lint magnet.
I have both ordered and they should arrive the first part of the week (according to Amazon). If no one else replies before then, I'll get lots of pics of them both and post my thoughts.
Pacifik: is that the double cover case? I saw that in the Verizon store and didn't like how it had both the silicone case and the hard shell. I'm looking at the one that's just the hard shell (found on their site--I can't post the link because I'm new).
LiquidHonesty: Thanks! I'll be interested to see which one you like more.
I love the look of both these cases. Does anybody have any suggestions for a belt clip holster that will fit either of these cases? I've always used the Seidio combos but the Surface case is thicker than these options.

It is the dual cover case, the hard plastic locks the silicon in place. Need extra protection from all the big machines I work with.

Haven't had a chance to try out the Case-Mate case, but the Feather case is good if you want the LEAST amount of protection, while still having a case on. It is a very nice case in terms of material, because it feels very soft almost like a hardened suede type feel. As with all snap ons though be careful that you don't get sand in the back or that could really scratch up the backside.
Feather case though doesn't protect the top and bottom corners of the phone as well though. I've dropped my nexus s a few times that had a feather case and the corners were always the ones it landed on.. Must've been my bad luck, but in any case, my corners are a bit dented up.

Well the case is 138.6 x 72.6 x 2.3 mm
The Galaxy nexus is 135.5 x 67.9 x 8.9 mm
So about 3-5 mm larger on the width and length, and the thickness would be about 2mm thicker.

for the LTE or GSM version?
I have the Incipio Feather Hard Shell case from Verizon. It was between this and the glossy body case they had. I asked the rep if i could try on different cases to i could get a feel for the one i want. This one was hands down the best looking and best fitting. Its a 2 piece case yea. It does attract lint. But its really an awesome case. I got a Zagg screen protector also, and with this and the case, it gives my phone a really premium look. The added thickness isn't really noticeable if ur just using the phone as u normally would IMO. I would honestly choose this over any case out there. Great for, nice stylish look and great protection.

I m looking for a nice case on eBay that is not more than $50. Which case is your favorite and why?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I dont usually buy on ebay so i cant help much there. But i can tell you all the cases ive tried.
Otterbox Defender - did not fit well so i did not purchase at the store. Screen protector is lousy. Phone rattled in case.
Casemate Toughcase - again did not fit my gsm nexus well. Gaps in silicone and i do not like the larger than necessary gap between the usb and headphone plugs. Also was a dust magnet. Should have learned my lesson with the first toughcase i tried for my galaxy s.
Diztronic TPU - have two of these. Rev 1 both in matte black and matte smoke. Great cases except the volume rocker section but Rev 3 should address that. I recommend.
Rearth Ringke Slim - currently using this case. Color i have is matte black and it is a great case.
Case Mate POP! It is not too bulky, offers good protection, good grip without attracting lint. Fits the extended battery perfectly.

I have the casemate pop and Love it, but I need to use my ebay bucks so I figured why not get another case.
Had 3 cases for my Nexus as my review for them are as follows:
Case-Mate Barely There - Price was too high considering the kind of case you were getting. As it's known for, it provides very little protection but was also very slim. I would have less issue with it if it covered the top and bottom of the phones fully but it oddly didn't. With it on, it looked more like a shell instead of a case. I would not recommend this as it seems like you are paying for brand name here. Might as well get a full body protector from Zagg or Ghost Armor instead of this IMO.
Otterbox Commuter - This was a good case. If you are looking for something that will protect your phone without being extreme (like using the Defender) then this is perfect. Adds bulk for protection but also looks great as well. Best of both worlds and recommended for those that want above average protection while not needing it to look like a beast. Fairly difficult to take off so don't get it if you get into opening up your phone a lot.
Diztronic TPU Matte Smoke Grey - This was the best of the bunch for me. Price wise, it can't be beat at $10.00 with a workable screen protector. Looks wise, smoke grey is beautiful on the Nexus as it looks natural (Nexus is grey to begin with). It adds only a little bulk so it doesn't look like a case swallowed your phone. Feel wise, matte is definitely the way to go. I've had glossy cases before and it always left grime, oil, and fingerprints. Matte feels and looks very clean and provides a little grip. Protection wise, I'd say it provides average protection. I've always used TPU cases and they can take drops from normal heights. TPU is fine for my rather un-extreme lifestyle. Finally, Diztronic's customer service is top notch. Had an issue with the volume keys and they are sending me out a replacement case with the keys cut out. No need to return the old one. Would definitely buy from them again because of that as I have high confidence that they can rectify any issues.
So there you have my mini-reviews. It is obvious that I favor Diztronic as they seem to hit the sweet spot for my preferences. Best of all words in all the things that are important to me.
Hope you guys find a case that works well for you too.

Case-Mate Tough Case: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420043 they're working on it.
I had bought a Case Mate Tough skin case for my phone, and it's had a lot of issues with the power button fit, it would turn off and on by touching the area anywhere near it. I looked around case-mate.com and noticed this case is not on their website, so I contacted Case Mate and they say it's a known issue, and are going to ship me a new one when they come in sometime during in the next 2-4 weeks.. Good customer relations.

No added bulk, adds just enough extra grip, protects from scuffing/scratching. Obviously, not gonna give the same shock protection in a fall.. but then I've seen guys with TPU cases drop the phone and shatter a screen. (with gorilla glass)

Just got my Seidio Active today. As with all Seidio cases, it is awesome. I had the Incipio double case from Verizon, which is a similar concept. But the Active is a lot smoother and looks way better. Great amount of protection, minimal bulk. I actually prefer the way it feels with the case on compared to bare. It gives a nice feeling to the volume/power buttons.
As a bonus, I got the Royal Blue one, and the color perfectly matches the blue theme of ICS. I highly recommend it. There is also a version with a kickstand, too. Here is a link to what I got.
http://www.seidioonline.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=CSK3SSGNL-RB
I'm a bit of a Seidio fanboy, as all of my devices have Active cases on them. But you can't really beat the protection and style. No huge logos, and the color of the hard shell really gives it a nice look. Dropping the phone with the case on barely does anything to the case, let alone the phone.

I have the kickstand-ed version and I must agree that it is a really well designed enclosure system. Works really well with the extended battery/cover. My previous Seidio case was the Active Extended for the Thunderbolt and that setup was the main reason why I decided on Seidio.
This is my favorite case and its probably the best value.

Yeah the TPU case is pretty neat I had one on my nexus and it felt smooth. Protection wise was ok I still didn't feel comfortable with it falling. I have the D30 case and it is slim lightweight and adds hardly any bulk. The downside is that the buttons are a bit hard to press and may take some getting used to. Their is a trick to work around it, but that's up to you. I think with either you won't go wrong, the silicon ones are terrible and get stuck in your pocket and provide minimal protection.

If you want the THINNEST case the "incipio feather ultralight hard case" but be warned: all the research I've done indicates that case won't do jack **** if you drop your phone as one reviewer put it, its a cosmetic accessory not a protective one.
I went with the diztronix tpu case that the guy above with Amazon link has except in matte black. Its amazing adds little bulk and protects against falls pretty well. Its also matte on the back so it doesn't get stuck going in jeans, etc. Like other tpu cases do.

I've been using these TPU cases for 3 years or so now. Nexus One, G2x, Xoom, and now my SGS2.
I also like that they're easy take on and off for a quick battery pull or going into a dock. Even after multiple pull ons and offs, they don't stretch, sag, tear. They are great for the price.

What is the trick for the d30 (impossible) buttons

There's another option that someone on XDA mentioned which requires sticking a small bit of paper to the inside of both buttons. He also included pictures in the post (do a search). This way you don't cut into your d30 case and reduce the life of the buttons. I found some glossy paper from an ad, a little bit thicker than normal print paper, and used a small piece of scotch tape to attach it underneath the buttons. It worked like a charm.
Looking to get the slimmest case I can. What's the best slim hard case? I had the ringke slim for my nexus 5 and liked it. Looking for something like that for my Moto x. Thanks.

incipio feather
http://www.amazon.com/Incipio-MT-237-Feather-Motorola-Moto/dp/B00E4207U8 ive been using this. great slim case.
I used the Incipio Feather for the past 2 years and loved it, but decided to give one of these a go. They are both the same just with a different name sticker. Build quality seems similar to the Feather. Overall, very happy.

I got the black smoke one they have on the Motorola site. I think its made by Incase. I found it on amazon for cheaper so I bought it there. Its not really black and more like clear smoke. I have the dev edition so it looks good and you can still see through the back and it has that soft touch feel that the ringke slim has on my galaxy nexus. I also like that it does not cover the M dimple on the back.

Do you have a link? I don't see the case you described on either Motorola's or Amazon's site.

I'm using the Anker one and I like it a lot. Nice texture, and it barely adds any bulk to the phone.:good:

I have the same one and I like it a lot but I miss the dimple
The power support shell is slimmer than the in case and comes with an anti scratch coating. The shell is nice in that there are no seams on the inside so it has less chance of scratching your phone. Haven't had the chance to really test it as I'm waiting for my moto x replacement but I'll snap some pics afterward. If you are into the hard minimalist case big don't want to introduce scratches, this seems the best option for now.

Received Anker case. Despite being sandy texture, the case is very slippery.
It also does not protect all corners. Highly disappointed, because its look is very nice.
Why don't all cases have the moto indentation on the back confuses me.
i bought both the poetic pallete and the bear motion cases. of the 2, i like the bear motion better with the grippier texture. However, that said, neither fit my phone well at all and won't stay locked into place. YMMV
I have bought the anker sandpaper, incipio feather, poetic, as well as two bumper cases from some HK-based vendor. Of the 3 minimalist "cases", I use the incipio the most. Truth be told, the poetic has a better (but nearly identical) texture to it, but the bottom is shaped in such a way where it digs into my small finger when holding it (I have my finger running parallel along the very bottom). If the incipio kept the dimple, it'd be my daily driver. I use the bumper cases more often than not and whenever I do grab one of the minimalist ones, it's always the incipio.

I have the Incipio Folio which includes a feather. Basically, you have a the feather case, and then you can snap that into a wallet style flip case. The only gripe I have about the feather is it contours to the phone too well... If you have the phone on a flat surface it just spins and flops around if you poke at it.
