My nerdy Note accessories for active lifestyle (pic heavy) - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Accessories

Yeah, I'm a geek with no fashion sense but I'm happy and the Note is always with me, handy, and well protected.
I've got the Seidio active with kickstand case for protection and so I can wear it on my belt.
I run several times a week here in Houston and I sweat like a pig. So I put the note with its case inside a LokSak bag. The Loksak'ed Note goes inside a SPIbelt for workouts so I can use the Zephyr bluetooth heart rate monitor and my Jaybird headphones while I run.
For the car, I've got the X mount from RAM Mounts. It is a snug fit but with a little practice I can get it in and out of the cradle without taking off the case.
For the bicycle / motorcycle I've got the RAM mount Aquabox. The fit is perfect, it is a friction fit in the frame of the aquabox. The aquabox is way too deep but for now I just store my wallet there. Eventually I will try to throw an extended battery there if I can figure out the electrical connection. Touch events don't work through the plastic screen cover but if I hope to cannibalize a spen for a workaround.
Hope this helps some note accessory freaks.

Can you actually see where you're driving in your car with the Note directly in front of you?!
I've got my mount clipped to an air vent, still in reach and doesn't get in the way of my view! Also, your Note won't get fried by the sun on a hot day, instead it'll be cooled by the AC.

I like the decorative stand(?) in pics 5 and 6 the most

It looks bad in the picture but sitting in the car you are much higher and it does not block much view. I'll put it this way, if something is close enough to be obscured from that angle, you're already gonna hit it anyway .

you have more accessories that the chinese sellers on ebay!

Geez dude, do you go cycling through waterfalls? You could put that mount on a submarine!

Glad to see there's at least a lot of accessory support for the Galaxy Note

which size aquabox do you have?
I'd guess the medium/wide one, but please verify.

When I do a century ride in Houston, I am the waterfall. I've sweated off several pounds of fluid in a single ride. I'm not taking any chances with salty sweat dripping on my $600 no warranty phone.

do you have pix how you manage to clipped to an air vent? how is the mount like? i'm looking for something like that but in my market here mostly all they sell is a suction cup to the windscreen and no other options....cuz i've experience with my previous nokia 5800 phone often fall off the screen after sometime which i don't want to fall on my g.note....

I don't have pics of my setup, but it's pretty similar to this, just without the swivel:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynCiG3eUfWM
Search for "air vent mount carkit" or something like that, they're pretty common. The one I got is a universal one, not specifically to the Note. IMO, much more convenient, because other people can use it too. And you don't have to get rid of it when you get your Note 2

Clingo Universal Hands-free mount review.

I went ahead and purchased the clingo car mount
http://www.clingo.com/car-mounts/universal-hands-free-mount/
for $25 shipped off of eBay (find it yourself) after it was mentioned by a member on XDA. It looked cool to me and since I didn't enjoy my Soundgate M2 mount to much I decided to give it a try.
I must say that I am very happy with the purchase. It works flawlessly with my EVO. I have tried it with two different cased, one was a regular tpu style and then with this case http://www.amazon.com/High-Quality-...?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1281911569&sr=8-1\
I'm not sure what material its made from but it is comparable to leather.
Both cases worked perfectly. They stuck to the Clingo adhesive without any problems and most importantly, they stayed there. A naked EVO will work just as well.
I have had the mount only for a couple days, but so far I have driven relatively long distances without no issues whats-so-ever. I live in houston tx btw, it's 5:35 rite now and 97* degrees outside, just to give you an idea of my environment.
The adhesive on the clingo does not seem to be losing its stickiness at all after my first couple days. I found this on clingos website.
http://www.clingo.com/articles/technology
If those are true facts then you can expect this baby to last a while...
Installation was extremely easy. I have mine attached to my windshield and it sticks to it like a champ. There is an optional attachment that allows you to stick it to your car dash board which works very well also.
overall I HIGHLY recommend this product if your looking for a decent car mount and in all honestly if I was to buy a home dock for the EVO I would get another clingo. It's so simple yet practical.
I know with all these knew docks coming out from htc/sprint/eBay/wireforless nobody really considered getting a Clingo product, but you can find them for relatively cheap off of eBay and it seems like it would look nice in an office/home environment. talking about this btw http://www.clingo.com/home-and-office/universal-podium
this seems pretty neat also, might scoop it up once I get some extra cash.
http://www.clingo.com/home-and-office/parabolic-sound-sphere
I dont see a need to spend 50+ on a dock just because it charges your phone. You can get a couple spare batteries, a car charger, home charger, usb cable and screen protectors for under 20 off of eBay. That matched with a Clingo product is all I need.
P.S - I suck at writing reviews. This is just my attempt to help some fellow xda members make a decision on an accessory for there phone. If your coming here to hate on my grammar and the way I type (which i have seen A LOT of lately on XDA. Must be the summer heat or something) then troll on my friend.
Oh yeah! and if you guys want a video of the mount just let me know. Only problem is my EVO is my video recorder, but I can still go ahead and try it if ya'll want.
Thanks for the review! I was actually just on their website before I came across your post. (Its actually still open in another window lol.) Can you comment on the amount of weight it can support based on its area? I know some of the pads for the phone were pretty big, but other were smaller circles. Do you think the smaller ones would be able to support our Evos?
"It’s pretty simple, really. Clingo holds your phone. It doesn’t matter if it is a BlackBerry, iPhone, Droid, Samsung, or whatever. Whether in your car, at the office, at home, or wherever - Clingo holds it."
That's a statement from the clingo website. That is for all there products except for the little necklaces which are designed specifically for iPod nanos. So according to them any of there products should be able to support any mobile device, including our EVOs.
From my experience, which is still limited, it really doesn't seem like too much surface area is necessary to grip the phone. Also, all the "Universal Products" seem to have the same surface area and shape. They only have two products that I can see with smaller surface area. One is the nano necklace and the other is the parabolic sounds sphere....
However, I remember somebody posting something about there evos slipping a little bit while using the clingo car mount and an innocase. Not sure how accurate that is though.

He stated the arm came down a bit, the phone itself stayed put on the holder, but the entire assembly (ball joint) rotated down a bit.
ahh...well in his case all he had to do was adjust the knob and tighten it, which is easily done.
Thanks for clarifying that.

I believe you guys are referring to my post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7667216&postcount=22
When using the mount with my Evo and Innocase Active Limited Edition, problems arose between the pad and the ball joint at the end of the arm (where you can adjust the pads' viewing angle). The arm wasn't moving at all since it was as tight as I could get it to be. While driving, the added weight of the case was causing the pad to move downward. It felt like it was much easier to move the pad around the ball joint when the case was in use. I tried every which way to get the phone to sit still but it continuously moved down, to the point where I couldn't view the screen very well at all.
It doesn't really bother me, though, since the mount works perfectly on a naked Evo. Once I removed the case, the pad was not moving whatsoever and the connection between it and the jointed ball seemed much stiffer.
I just ordered the parabolic sound sphere... gonna play around with that before i pull the trigger on a car mount

Yeah, several times. My problem isn't with the stickiness from the green area of the pad, it's with the back where it connects to the ball joint. With or without the case, the phone doesn't slide or fall off the sticky part of the pad at all. But when I use the case, the pads' construction moves down as if it's sliding from the ball joint due to too much weight.
Kind of hard to explain clearly. The phone sticks to the pad perfectly in any scenario, though. I just think the Evo + Innocase Active is too heavy for this mount unless some slight modding is done. Nevertheless, I'm content with using the phone with no case when used with the mount. Works just fine then.

In other words it goes from this | to this /
Take a black zip tie, wrap it around the back where the ball goes into the socket and cinch it down some, may be just what you need to add that bit of extra grip.
Great review.. I have the car dock, the tethering pad and the sound sphere on the way.. should be here today.
Well, all my stuff showed up. The parabolic sphere is pretty cool. It does increase the volume somewhat and maybe add a little reverb to the noise. The tethering pad is okay as well.
The car dock, however, sucks. It would probably be great on a lighter phone. So far my Evo has fallen off 3 times and seems to slide around on the pad. Pretty disappointing.. looks like my quest for a good car dock will continue.
Well, Ive done everything I could do to make the car mount work and it just wont. The design is poor and it reflects in the performance of the dock. My dock will not stay where I put it, instead sagging down and eventually dropping the phone. Ive tried everything short of wire tieing it in place (Yay for ghetto engineering) and I cant make it stay. Ive tried zip tie around the neck of the mount, stuffing tape into the ball and socket, etc.. nothing helps. Guess this one is going to end up in the trash pile too along with every other Evo mount Ive bought.
If you'd point out the failing was in the positioning of the mount, and not the mount's ability to hold the phone on its sticky pad, you might have a good chance of selling it here for not much less than you paid for it.

Well, its not just that. The Evo IMO doesnt stick to the pad very well. Maybe its the oil from my hands but I had to put a plastic case on the phone just to get it to stick. For a Nexus one or something, it probably would be great. The Evo is just too much of a beast for this mount.
On a side note, I emailed Clingo about calling me regarding this mount. Its been 2 days and no call back. Another strike against Clingo.
The rattle and shake of my universal gooseneck holder has been driving me crazy since day one, and I've been looking for another option. After watching the clingo demo video with the guy flying over speed bumps I decided to give it a try.
I've been using it in my car for a week now, and am very happy with it. Right out of the box it held my EVO (in the innocase active) no matter how hard I shook it. The grip of the pad is amazing.
As others reported, the size/weight of the EVO caused it to droop forward. If I turned the pad sideways it stayed up better, but a small black zip tie around the socket completely fixed the drooping. I figure putting a small piece of rubber band into the socket should also do the trick while still allowing repositioning.
The result has been stunning. Even over big potholes and grooved highway pavement the clingo has kept my phone still. It is soooo much easier to read without the phone shaking.
Now to see how the cling pad holds up to new england winter.

Mines has held up to texas weather 100+ with my car out in the heat, so hopefully it can handle the cold also.

I have not used the rubber band trick on my Clingo, as the zip tie stopped the droop, but I've done it with similar ball joints. You should be able to find a small bag of rubber bands at your local office supply big box. One about 1/4" wide should do with the clingo. Just cut a piece out of the band and put it into the socket as close to on-center as you can. Line up the ball on the clingo's arm so that the mount pad will be close to the angle you want it, and snap the pieces back together. The rubber will provide grip, and provide enough to stop any drooping while still allowing you to reposition and swivel the mount head.

Ram Mount X-Grip makes a good Note mount

Got my Ram Mount X-Grip today (http://www.ram-mount.com/NewProducts/xgripholder/tabid/3687/Default.aspx#). Was worried it might not fit the note because it says max width of 3.25 inches. But it fits with enough room to spare that I could probably have it in a case.
See attached pictures. I like it a lot, I have mounts on my cars and on my bicycles but not sure if I will trust my Note to a spring loaded mount on a bicycle.
I need to find a widget / application that will let me toggle the screen timeout on and off when it is powered.
I have bluetooth in my car stereo. I wonder if there is an app that will let me keep the screen awake when it is connected to power and linked to my stereo?
Yeah, I know my screen protector is crap. I'm leaving it on until I get something better.

No, it does not cover the camera. It is a little more rugged and secure than the cheap Chinese cradles.
It is also a lot easier to get it exactly where you want it with no vibration. I've got a few RAM mounts on various vehicles so this is a good accessory for me.

I use Llama (Location Aware Mobile Application). It does a lot of things like this. I get it to prevent locking when I am at home of work, for example, and control sound in different places or in meetings, and it does all my power control based on batter level much better than most power controllers IMO.
It's also free, but I urge you to support the developer if it is useful to you (I have no affiliation BTW).
Hey would you trust this mount for use on a motorcycle? I already have a bunch of ram mounts so I know they're good quality, just need the x-grip for the note.
Tasker should be able to help you with all the above screen requirements. It's like Llama, but more advanced.
To bring an old thread back- to the OP- can you take a picture of how much clearance there is with the X-Grip all the way open? I'm considering this for my Note, but I'm running a case, and will be going to a bigger/more protective one when one I like becomes available.

Hard to get a great picture, not enough hands to pinch the arms springs, steady the not, and take the picture. Clearance is about 5mm so it would be close.
In reference to the motorcycle, yes I would trust it for any conditions up to a wreck. I had a nokia N810 in a ram mount when I wrecked a few years ago and it popped loose but it held nicely under all normal conditions.
This would be perfect is that little remaining gap is enough to allow a seidio.

Bicycle Mount for Samsung Galaxy Note

Hey bicyclist:
Any of you tempted to buy this?
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/220900016894?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
I was thinking you could Saran Wrap it for good measure.
You could use it as a
-$700 speedometer
-GPS turn by turn
-Texting while riding
Hoping that the whole unit doesn't fall off, let alone the Note falling off by itself.

I have serious concerns about these. They use the same plastics and mounts as the car mounts, several of which I have broken. Its one thing it falling off in a car, but on a bike doing 20mph on concrete? Scary thought
I would love to see what you think about it when you get one!
Otherwise, these seem like a better alternative.
When I had a Desire I used to have this
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/bicycle-phone-holder-p14252.htm
And I found a really similar for the Note
http://item.mobileweb.ebay.ca/viewitem?itemId=120875970274&index=17&nav=SEARCH&nid=48128193136
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/capdase-bike-mount-holder-p25473.htm
When I had that one for my Desire it was REALLY stable. Few times I have riden 40km/h+ and on a bumpy tarmac with the phone mounted and it held it perfectly.

I have the exact same mount, and the note rides my ZX12R, it is stable enough I would say, best bet is zip tie it over just to be safe.

For some reason I don't trust that mount on the original post.
Rubber band to attach to handle bar? Only two corners and the opposite side secured of our expensive phone?
I feel it's not gonna last very well during any kind of bumpy riding nor is it gonna stay at fixed position because of that rubber band used to attach to handle bar.
At least the Capdase model I'm looking at has proper mounting. Not so sure about how well the actual phone mount secures our Note considering how wide and thin our phone is.

The Perfect Vehicle Dock That Works With A Case?

In search of a vehicle dock that will accommodate the size of the Galaxy S III with a case.
Preferably one that fits in the heating/AC vents, or mounts on the front of your dashboard and not on top of the dashboard. I guess one without the suction cup.
Going to be mainly used for Navigation.
Any suggestions?

Don't know if people just don't know about these or just don't like them. I got mine back in February and used it on my old E4GT and now the S3, I absolutly love it! The key is, for me anyways, getting a TPU case( always use TPU so no biggie there ) take an exacto knife and cut a perfect sized cut out for the tiny magnet. If you do it correctly the looks isn't bad at all( use the small magnet, works fine for me ) and more importantly it wont 'wobble' on the table, lays flat. Sorry don't have any pics of my old setup and haven't cut out my new one yet. Also, nice that we have replaceable back covers in case you're worried about it marring up the back if you want to remove it later.
As far as construction quality, magnet hold strenght both are superb, haven't hadd one inceidentl fall off the holder. Also magent doesn't seem to interfer with wifi or cell at all. NFC I haven't tested yet, but my suggestion would be to mount it towards the top side of the case away from the battery( like were the carrier logo is on the back )
Anyways just my 2 cents, check out youtube they have a couple good reviews of it on there.

I can't post pics/links but I followed Lifehacker's guide to making a car mount out of office supplies (site should be easy to find with that information). It works surprisingly well, even with the size of the S3 and the fact that my vehicle's vents aren't perfectly suited for the application. I thought it'd be kind of ghetto but it's hidden while in use and easy to remove and stash away when not in use.
I'll make a thread with pics once I have enough posts.
I got this one: http://www.amazon.com/SLIM-GRIP-WIN...CAR-STEREO/dp/B004H4FN6Q/ref=cm_aya_orig_subj

Take your time and look around. There's plenty of car mounts that will fit this phone with a case.
Seems like most are the suction cup kind
will work for any phone even tablets
Sorry long time forum reader but first time posting. I can't post a link but search "soundgate m2 car mount"
You can probably find them cheaper. Used my for the og dinc for 2 years. I put the disc on my case instead of the phone. But I would have no reservations to put it directly on the phone as the disc is extremely unobtrusive. Just clean the spot you want to mount the arm really well with included wipe or rubbing alcohol. The arm mounts with a 3m adhesive pad and folds almost flush when not in use. Very slick. Put the discs on anything you want to dock to the arm. I forget how much weight it can handle but I saw a tablet being used as well. Sorry tried to upload pictures and after an afternoon of searching the forums on how to do it, i still cant get it. Just google "soundgate m2 car mount" you wont be dissapointed.
I have this one. I love it. Works with any case, holds tight. I have mine in the vents. http://www.breffo.com/collections/spiderpodium

That looks interesting, never seen that before. How do you put that in your vent? Looks like it wasn't designed for that.

you just kinda put it in the vents, and then bend it down. works great! It really stays put too. Check out the gallery section on the site, there are other pics of it in the vents. Got one for a friend and he loves it. It really does hold tight in the vent, even more so then ones designed for the vent. Easy to take out too

That looks really cool. Does it go it and out of the CD player easily? Do you just leave it there or is it easy enough to quickly plug in when you want?
Does it still "see" the satellites well enough from the lower position in the car?
I assume you can confirm the GS3 fits well in it even though it says it's for iphone?
Anyone know of other CD mounts to compare to?
Amazon review for this one you got are generally very good.

It goes in very easy. It only takes a few seconds to install. It holds the S III securely even with a case on it.

Does it hold the phone in the vertical position, or only horizontal?

wow that's nice! Why did you have to cut out a hole in your case, the link says it comes with a case (I'm assuming with the magnet attached)!

ProClip. It is a little more money, but well worth it. I would get the proper mount for your vehicle (vent or side mount) and the adjustable phone mount so you can use it with a case. The also make a clip so you can move the mount from car to car.
Sadly, mine was recently stolen, but they offered me a discount because of my loss.
So I created a ghetto version as a sort of joke in exchange.

Airframe - Car Mount Vent Kit

Thought id take a gamble and just ordered one of these:
http://airframe.kenu.com/
Looked perfect for my needs and future proof due to generic design.
Have you recieved it yet? Impressions?
I like the fact that the clip is metal, my last plastic air vent holder snapped within a day of buying it :/
Won't get until next month as it appears a little like kick starter projects. Does look good though and future proof to a certain extent

If it were me, I'd just change the fan settings to not blow hot air straight at me (it's uncomfortable most of the times anyways). Use the upper or lower vent settings. If I had no other choice but get that Hair Dryer effect with the front vents, I'd put a credit card (or CD maybe) in between the Airframe clips and fit it inside the narrow CD player slot. Just sayin'.

WTF are you on about?
oh damn also want one of these, but shipping to germany for about 20 bugs is way to much
Just got my shipping email so I'll take some pics when it arrives

only does portrait, no landscape?
edit: nm, it does: "Yes, assuming the make and model of your car’s air vent has enough space to display your phone horizontally."
Got the Mountek cd mount since I haven't listened to a cd for years. I have a bluetooth with usb and listen to Pandora or my mp3s.
It doesn't block the vents and adjusts vertical and horizontal.

I was wondering how you all are getting on after using them for a while, are they worth buying? I cant find any cheaper alternatives and the international shipping its quite expensive...but if they are awesome I might just buy one.
