Major problem with my OneX - HTC One X

this is an odd one. I have unlocked, rooted and installed leedroid on my one X. its been fine for weeks. Today i was syncing some music over usb, disconnected the phone, got in the car and the bluetooth paired, music started playing and off I went. Then suddenly, everything went really slow. All running apps started to crash and i could hardly move round the screens. I stopped the car, took phone off the holder and it was really hot. I couldnt close it down, access menus or anything as it was so slow. Multiple painfully slow reboots later, its still running extremely slow and takes an age to boot.
I'm currently trying to restore a titanium backup to see if something's got corrupted. After that i'll revert to nandroid.
what has happened? I think it overheated, but turning it off for an hour did nothing. I had something similar happen with my desire once and restoring the rom from a backup fixed it.
EDIT: nandroid restore fixed it

[Q] No vibration (at all), and touchpad dead?

Hi eveyone,
I have a HTC desire, originally bought unbranded and unlocked. About two months ago I rooted with unrevoked (after downgrading the HBOOT as I had installed the OTA vanilla Froyo). I have been running OpenDesire and was until recently using v.4.0.34.
Everything has been working fine until yesterday, when it was in my pocket and I got caught in a rainstorm. It got damp, but not super-wet, and was still working fine at the time. Inside the back case and under the battery was dry. Several hours later I updated to 4.0.36. Immediately after update, it was fine and acting normally. In the morning when I woke up and ever since then, the phone has not been vibrating at all. I first noticed it in Swiftkey entering text and thought it must be a setting, but it doesn't vibrate on texts, phonecalls, turning on, turning into vibrate mode, anything.
I thought I might as well reflash from scratch in case something had gone wrong with 4.0.36 so I went to do a wipe, reflash the radio and the rom, and see if this fixed it.
At this point I got back to ClockworkMod recovery and couldn't use the trackpad. It doesn't scroll, it doesn't press, nothing. It also doesn't do anything when booted. Every other bit of my phone works perfectly - charger, headphones, touchscreen, volume and power buttons, the lot.
I am *assuming* these problems are related to the damp rather than anything software-related, but other than the update to 4.0.36 I haven't done anything different or installed any new software. I would also be surprised if it was due to the water, cos it really wasn't that damp.
Any help would be appreciated. I am *this* close to stripping it down and taking it to bits to clean all the contacts of any deposits or anything, but just in case that's a bit OTT, I thought I'd ask you guys on here, because, well, you know everything
Cheers,
Dan
I have this on very rare occasions. Softly hitting the phone on the back helps. If you unsure what I mean. Just drop the phone on your bed once and it'll fix. (Atleast for me it does then)

Random Root Problem

So i bought my incredible the second day they were released, and rooted it when unrevoked came out with their first one-click root program (so needless to say im not exactly a "new" root user). i've ran a couple roms, and lately have run stock leaks w/ added .zips for a little customization (about the past three months or so). i've been on the latest leak for like a month ish (i think its the latest one) possibly little bit longer than that. i never had a random reboot or even really any lag up, which was really amazing. then, i tried to install a custom flat black notifications bar, and i installed the update zip through recovery but it didnt do anything.
about two weeks later, i installed that new status bar power menu thing, and started to get the occasional random reboot and bog up. no really enough to really be a problem, but tonight right before bed my phone started boot looping after a random reboot (it would boot for a min or two then reboot after a lockup). so i pulled the battery and powered back on. then it loaded to the lockscreen, but every single app that should have started at startup began to repeatedly force close, so i couldnt use the phone. i tried three times but it happened every time. im nandroiding now, im sure that'll fix the problem, but any ideas what caused this? thanks!
just happened again on ruby 2.0.0, but this time all of the apps force closed AND the "click android to start" setup screen came up. I got a random reboot (which i rarely to never have), pulled battery and powered back up, it loaded to lockscreen, then it went into a soft reboot and froze at the looping bootscreen, then once i pulled battery again and powered up, i got the crashes. any idea what it is? this time, it did happen like 15 min after i had dropped my phone from about 2 feet off the ground, i guess that could be it? idk
For what it's worth, I was running 2.3 and it wouldn't mount internal or SD. This happened even after installing other ROM's. I downloaded the latest RUU, unrooted, and started from scratch.
I reformatted the SD card too. I re-rooted, and restored my SD backup. I re-downloaded the ROM I wanted, and installed it. It fixed the weird issues I was having. You may want to consider starting over from scratch.

[Q] Phone freezing for no obvious reason, looking for advice.

I really have no idea what is going on with the phone. The phone is amazingly fast and snappy normally. I'm running [ERA]EPICUREANv7 EGgs22, with EC05 modem (I believe I read that staying on EC05 would be fine, correct me if I'm wrong).
It started happening once I transferred my old files from my old SD card to my new SD card (this is my second epic, first one died without any explanation). It began freezing within a minute of a reboot. I then took the SD card out, and it was fine again. I deleted all my old music and pictures for a clean SD, and the problem went away.
The next day it froze again, and the day after that (today), it froze again just now. It seems to happen when I am running a new program (happened once when i installed and tried out miren, happened once when I opened google music for the first time, happened once with powerAMP, etc) but I'm not sure if that is the cause. I'm starting to wonder if there is a common factor between these freezings and how my old epic became a brick (not really a brick, I odined it through download mode to stock, but flashing any rom now causes it to be unable to boot as far as I've tried so it's perma stock now)
Does anyone know what is going on? Is there any kind of diagnostic app out there that will tell me what is causing the freezes or high usage?
Thanks in advance!

One V behaving erradically

Hi,
all seemed fine with my new, one week old One V. Till I installed GTA III. First the installer stuck while downloading the datafies. I canceled the download, restartet GTA III, but instead of completing the broken datafiles download (or re-downloading) it just startet the game and crashed the whole phone in the intro animation, that was without sound. I removed and reinstalled it, the download now finished, I could get the intro with sound, but it crashed the phone at the same moment. Since then my phone behaves like it would be very sick or hate me ;-/. After this crash it startet looping the reboot. It would boot, ask me for my SIMs PIN code, then be ok for a short time, then reboot again. This time it would boot into the desktop without asking me for the PIN. All seemed ok, but HTC's audio player forgot all the files I played (Last Played) and did not find any audio files (I have them on /sdcard/Music). It did not find them after several reboots, some of which were initiated by the phone all by itself. I then erased all the caches rebooted twice and it found the files along with the Last Played list. All seemed fine again, except the vibration of the tactile feedback would be less sharp and more wobbely. But only sometimes. Sometimes it was sharp. But besides that, all seemed to have healed itself and I could use the phone, maybe a bit slower, or maybe Avast and some tasker like app, I have running, made it a tad slower.
Then I installed yesterday's (today's ?) HTC update. Since that the phone reboots after two minutes. When I start the Preferences/Applications it takes ages to scan and most of the programs appear with their internal (com.foobar.someandroidapp) name. Just in order to change after a minute or so to their original name. Elixir2 crashes sporadically during use. Again I get the reboots without asking me for PIN.
Also, when I switch it off it shows the orange light for a minute, or so, instead of the green, though the phone is fully charged. It did not do this before. Oh, and in the meanwhile the HTC audio player forgets the MP3 files again I have on /sdcard/Music. Got no idea, what to do, since removing and reinserting the SD card did not help.
Also, I have the feeling, that something in the list of installed apps in the app-database crashes it. Where can I find it?
I can not even reset to factory defaults. At least I tried. It said it's doing it, then rebooted and all my stuff was there again (ie no reset).
It's crap! I need my phone's camera the next days because of some big Open Air event I am on.
See here for a little video about what happens... You need to download the vid (ca 80MB) and turn it around 90 degrees, sorry.

here is what to do:
format the sdcard
factory reset your phone
Thanks, 1ceb0x, this is what I did. It all went fine. I have now applied the firmware update to 2.08.401.2, that got sent out these days. Seems to work out nicely.
What can I do, that I do not have to reformat in the future? Are there any utilities, that do snapshots of the system over time? Like Time-Machine for OS X does?
It's happening again. This is still the stock ROM, with the official (or was that two cuh?) update(s) a week ago.
I did not install any utilities, from which I think, they could go deeper into the system, like Avira and Automagic. I need a way to analyze, what my system is doing.
Oh, and it is reproducable: Mounting the phone as USB drive on a computer and, after work has been done, unmounting it on the computer, changing the USB mode on the phone. Now it starts. CPU seems to be up to 100% (UI becomes sluggish), apps behave strange (hadphone was in, speaker sounded, today appstore does not install apps, does not even connect, X-plore leaves a notification on screen after I quit, etc.). I had it two days ago, but the I rebooted a few ties, switched it off, took it from the USB cable and used it a little bit from battery. After this all was fine. But now that does not seem to help either.

Wow, that's an amaizing type of error, I can assume a tad sdcard error, but I'm not sure of that.

Yes, that's what I thought, too. I checked the file-system, I also ran a bad-blocks check, though, I am not sure, whether the utlity can do that reliably for an SDcard (since it has been written for a magnetic hard-disk). SDcards have a different technology. I got no reports about failures.
Now, that I hooked the phone to the debugger, I see the watchdog kicking in, but the traces.txt is being written to a directory, only root can access (and I am not). So I am still in the dark. Reports on the net have shown certain Sense devices to hace similare problems, with either too many apps installed onto SD or too many MP3s. The bugs are different. In the latter, the audio-player app of HTC is at fault, this seems to have been confirmed by HTC. Not sure, which Sense version, though, the phone was running ICS, but not a One series.
I'll hunt for the bug for a few more days, then I am going to root, custom kernel and custom ROM. Only convern I have with this, that I do not want to lose anything Sense related, because I love it so far. Ideal would be a ROM, that ported the S or X Sense, since those have more home-screens.
Yep usually clearing your caches returning your phone to factory mode should work, if not use the back nandroid.
Thread moved to.Q&A. Please keep all question related threads there. Thank you.

[Q] Weird Issue... Somethings Very Wrong

Hi everybody... I've been using my HTC One X happily for going on 3 months now, and just out of the blue I had the weirdest thing happen. I was just cruising the internet when I lost my WIFI connection, so I go into settings to see what happened and it just says not in range(it was defiantly in range), so then I turned WIFI off, and back on and nothing. So I did a restart. It got worse. The WIFI kept saying connecting, authorizing, searching, connecting, authorizing, searching, continuously never actually connecting. So I tried restarting again. Now, the WIFI works right, but everything else is completely screwed up. I was running APEX launcher, and widget locker, and APEX launcher keeps closing randomly, so i thought well something got messed up there when i restarted so i took it off and re-installed. Nope. Still does it, so then i just took it off and its still having issues. Every time I exit an app or hit home, I get a loading thing and it takes forever to go to the home screen. I tried doing a factory reset and it won't go to the boot menu. It just starts up and then says its recovered from an error and asks if i'd like to send an error report. What the heck is going on with my phone? It's not even hardly usable the way its acting and I can't even reset the stupid thing.
a little more info about your configuration may be helpful. Is your one x stock with a locked bootloader or are you running a custom rom?
Sounds like corrupt data somewhere.
If a factory reset doesn't solve it, try flashing the RUU.
turn your router off and back on, mine did this with a Sky router at my friends house. Worked fine after.
