[Q] - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I just bought a nexus. I went from a tbolt. My question is how do you side load apps to the nexus?

[A]
The answer will be posted in a separate thread.

1. Search Tool
2. Its under security settings in Android 4.0

Perhaps you didn't notice this sticky at the top of the forum:

It's easy to overlook seeing as how it's the absolute number one thread in this forum

All the security software on my puter thinks this program is a trojan. I know it's not.

That thread had to be removed per the forum rules, specifically those regarding rule 9, as that thread was telling people how to overwrite the IMEI on a device.
Regards
Pulser
I see, it is a shame because that info did help a lot of people.

I understand, as the info was useful, but the legalities of the IMEI tampering are clear, and it's not something we can host, per rule 9.
I am all for rules and enforcing them, but if it wasnt for that info a lot of us t-mobile customers would not be able to use the tab they way it was intended,as a phone. But nothing can be done now but i am glad i found it before it was too late.
But one thing though, there are other threads about changing IMEI and stuff but they are still out there, so i believe it should be the same for everyone.
Not trying to be a snitch or anything lol

Well... If you fancy the job of looking through 500,000 threads, be my guest and report them We can only act on what we find or get reported to us, as there's too much otherwise.
We know where you're coming from, but the legal situation is clear.
lol thanks for offer but im good. so if tmo would have gotten a look they could have involved lawyers?

I don't know specifics of this case, but the changing of the IMEI in general is illegal under communications laws. That's the issue here.

SMS sound saying "nexus"

Hi,
i downloaded a cool sms sound from a site someday...but since my nexus crashed i lost the sound
does anyone perhaps have it and willing to share it with me ?
it was an sms sound saying in a computer like voice "nexus"
Search tool? Google?
This thread is unnecessary.
I don't have the sound though if that helps.
So... go back to where you found it and DL it again? Or use one of the dozens of ringtone downloader apps?
I think I have that file too , I remember I downloaded it from nexus one forums.
Edit: this one?
http://www.nexusoneforum.net/forum/...oiiid-style-notification-sound-nexus-one.html
Here's the one with Nexus only: https://www.dropbox.com/s/p2tajemavfh5ien/nexus-only.wav
If you don't have an account, I can download the others and attach it for you

Honestly, that scared the bejeezus out of me. NEX.US. 0.0
Here, I made these with the same voice the DROID uses:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/74354246/nexus-slow.zip
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/74354246/nexus.zip
It's based on Zarvox, the Mac voice. I made a slower one and a regular one. There's the aiff, ogg and mp3 in each zip.
Made a thread over here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25035093
i cant find it on google doh otherwise i wouldnt make this thread...none of these sounds is the one im looking for
damn
edit: found it !

Why does some user always pop up telling someone that the thread is unnecessary? A thread like this ends up turning other users on to a ringtone that you enjoy. What's the harm?? This is a site with tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of threads. It seems such a waste of time (and very annoying) to litter so many threads with that comment. Let's just enjoy this place. An extra thread won't hurt and it might help.
Look at how many threads popped up the moment Google began selling this phone in the play store. It's like 10 duplicate threads. And look, xda didn't explode!
FWIW I'm now using this ringtone. Thanks!!

i know. annoying. Especially since it's a hard search. "Nexus ringtone" brings in 1000000000000000000 unreleated results lol.

Searching xda

Hi
Now don't take this the wrong way, but... Searching your forums is a headache!
OK if I wanted to find out something generic as rooting an Android phone, before posting one should search to see if it has been already posted, not a problem. Using the Google custom search you get 2.6 million results in no particular order, the 1st ten can range from 3 years ago to yesterday (most results do not show date) (results give very little info) so it is a bit of a lottery finding a relevant thread.
Using "Search this Forum" is all very well and good, but for one thing. Searching for "rooting an Android phone" from what can see is, that it can be found in a least 4 separate Forums...
So what's all the gripe about? Well back in the days of 486's & P1's myself and 2 others designed and implemented a search engine for the Royal Navy's internal Forum. The Forum being as large as xda's if not larger, displayed results: Forum Name, Title of Thread, Date and 1st two lines of thread as your basic search with option of advanced criteria.
It was simple and idiot proof and can be found in use all over the internet.
So to cap it off, one search engine displaying results in date order for entire Forum. Simples...

To be honest next time add in your device name. This is due to rooting an Android device depends on the device. I use the FF search plug in and my always defaults to the newest post. But I do agree I thing the plugin should be updated

Is there any way to search for a phrase together? Like "tell if I am root". The search results are always for the individual words, not the whole phrase, however I've tried it (quotes single and double, +'s, ANDs). I've also often found that search engines (I don't use Google) give more relevant results, even though they're all on XDA-developers.

Not that I know of. The Firefox search plug in is limited but better then the built in search engine lol.
Is that a real question you have?
Thanks for confirming what I thought.

Can do most of that, just change order to "last posting date". And pick your device obviously from the subforum list

HD GAMES

Hi all.
I've bought HTC ONE X a couple of weeks ago and have been playing PES 2012 and Temole Run a lot. Today I decided to install GTAIII. I went to google play and it said DEVICE NOT COMPATIBLE.
I manually downloaded the apk and sd data and put them in the right directory. Open the game and it said, "Unfortunately, GTAIII has stopped."
I've seen videos on youtube regarding this and the game works fine on HOX.
Can someone elaborate what this actually is about? Can I get a torrent or direct download link from anyone of you that will lead me to download the working version of GTAIII on my One X?
Regards

356 posts, i would of thought youd know the answer to this question on here.. I suggest you look for "alternative" forums to ask this question.
try the google market place on a pc see if that allows you to "purchase" the original version.
Search button
Try this picture (yes you can klick on it with your mouse) instead of opening a new thread, it's called the search button and you can find it on top right corner
of XDA Developers.
Amazing isn't it how much of these threads already exist, that's board clutter and very anoying for people who are searching for something relevant.
That's why >> FORUM RULES (yes you can klick on this link too) exist which you can find on top of this HTC One X General section.
Once again, talking about warez is not tolerated on XDA

Any idea why this message shows up trying to upload photo to "tapatalk hosted" and if in try to upload to "this forum" it works but the option later dissapears and I'm stuck with an option that doesn't work...

Probably because the xda app is worse than Facebook. It only barely works.
Because they stopped supporting free hosting. You have to purchase unlimited hosting now if you want to host images through Tapatalk.

Or better yet, use neither, they should be banned.
People who use these tools are inconsiderate to others, they're being selfish.
1. Full forum search doesn't exist. The first rule of this forum is to search.
2. There is advertising by default as a signature. That's also banned on this forum.
3. It causes double signatures from idiots (app signature and forum signature).
4. There's no demarcation to the signature so it appears part of the message, this is horrible.
5. It only seems to work 50% of the time and leaves threads looking like a mess.
All because some people think it suits their personal need.
Bin it and ban it.

We have a right to access our forums through mobile, and the forums themselves have included the plugins necessary for the app to work, so obviously they support it.
As far as what you're saying, when each of these forums fully supports a functional and usable mobile version, maybe I'd give up Tapatalk.

Isn't this in the wrong section anyhow? I've notice for a while, that when people need to know something about apps, they post here instead of Q&A. Maybe I'm used to the HD2 forum, because they used to crack the whip on stuff like this, but it seems perfectly fine here Just saying.
