Hello,
I can't find a unlock thread for the desire HD? Is there not a way yet to unlock the device for all sim cards?
Thank you!

This is if you are not S-OFF. Take into consideration that not all carriers allow sim unlocked phones. Some of then lock their sims. But if you are not S-OFF this is the only game in town:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1259821&highlight=advanced+ace+hack+kit

thanks for the link, looks very promising.
My device is already S-OFF, I think. At least I have a custom rom and so and IIRC my device says so somewhere. It's been a while since I tempered Desire HD.
Does that change anything?

If you are already S-OFF, then you should be sim unlock. Don't run the Hack Kit again, you will get stuck.

thats great news.
thank you for your help. Ill try it out once im home.

Who is your carrier? I called AT&T and they just gave me my unlock codes. You might try that! You'd be surprised at how cooperative they may be.

[Q] About sim card unlock.

I got a TMOBILE G2 a few days ago and they said they will send me a network unlock code for me after 40 days. I want to know when i get the code to unlock the network lock and then I do root and flash rom, do i have to do network unlock again? Otherwise I flash sense rom first, I could still use the code to unlock the network lock? Does the code be included in the rom or other place that it wouldnt been wipe? Thanks for answer..
no, as long as you do not flash a "locked" rom onto your phone yo will be ok, the unlock code is for your IMEI, so it will work again regardless

Scotty2 and others just cracked simlock. Check the development section for the guide. It is for the more advanced user as of now, but the guide promises an easier method shortly.

I would suggest to way a few days. Scotty2 and his "crew" is guess are working on getting the sim unlock bit going pretty soon. There is a guide out there to do it but it requires you to get into hex code, and a bunch of other things...for me it's out of my leage, but other are trying it with success.
There are some know issues with the phone post unlock, but I think the poster before me gave all the links.
Don't buy the codes...it seems to be a rip off in my book.
Good luck!

You don't have to buy an unlock code to get it rooted. You can use a goldcard and root it. It's free

will a golden card and rooting it allow me to sim unlock ? cuz i have been reading about it and its ambigous, i think it`s impossible to sim unlock without a an unlock code.
Rooting wont unlock the phone, no.
But you can use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=943726 . It is free and works, you dont need to root or anything.

Goldcard is for branded RUUs only. In Romania there are no phones with branded RUUs, all of them have stock. They're network locked not branded. Use sieempi's utility, I've unlocked my phone locked by Orange Romania.
Edit: didn't read the post carefully enough. It appears from the RUU thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667 that Orange France doesn't have a branded RUU either. So you should't have to make a goldcard.

Not been on this lately. I meant to say to remove simlock. Any tool for removing sim lock not unlocking bootloader?
Considered buying an XTC Clip?
It worked for me and isn't really that expensive anymore...

The unlocking of the bootloader and rooting as nothing to do with been sim locked. What you could do is phone 3 and tell them you are going abroad on holiday and need it unlocking so you can put another cheaper sim in when your abroad.

Give them a bell, its worth a shot. Didnt realise they sim lock their contract phones (apart from iPhone and Blackberry and specials), a lot of other providers dont care because your tied to them with the contract.

Rooting HTC 816?

Hey Guys,
I am new to HTC, coz I was using a Sony Xperia Z earlier.
So now I have a HTC 816 (4G version), just want to know a way I can ROOT the phone. I have seen a guide which states how to do it, but it says to unlock the bootloader. Is there a way I can root the phone without unlocking the bootloader? Coz since I have bought this like last week, I dont wanna unlock it yet.
And also wanna know, how I can find the model no. of my phone. Like "a5_ul" etc.
Your help is really appreciated
That guide is the only one available, and you can't root your phone without unlocking your bootloader, there's just no way sorry.
Also you most likely have the a5_ul. If your on Virgin Mobile though it's the a5_chl.
To find out for sure boot into Hboot, and it will say it on that screen.
