[Q] Missing Album Art - Samsung Captivate Glide

Hi all!
For some reason when I am using the stock Tw music player all my album covers are there but when I switch to Poweramp/Play Music/Doubletwist Player about 50% (approx) disappear...anyone know if I have to create/move my music from my music folder into another folder? I'm not sure why this is happening..
Forgive my perfectionist, please

Nothing wrong with having a perfect album, google search "mp3tag", its a windows app that applies the ablum cover and into to the track. I believe its a free program.
Sent from my Captivate Glide via Cup & String.

What is a "directory"? When I connect my phone and try and navigate to a directory in mp3tag there are none that show up.
EDIT:
Got that working, how do you do different album covers per song? I accidentally put Chris Brown's Fortune on all of mine...

i believe you can select them individualy. havent used the app in a while.

Alright so now here's the problem. I'm going to use Google Play Music but I got my songs off of iTunes so I can't really make a playlist unless i do it manually, is this the only way now?

No idea, i use amazon music. I would asume manually.

[Q] Endless battle w/ the music app

I love the Android system. I loved my Hero and I love my EVO. But it's **** like this that makes me question just how serious is Google about beating Apple because sometimes they seem to do a really half-ass job.
DISCLAIMER: I do not want to use a 3rd party music app because I should not HAVE to use a 3rd party music app. The stock app should JUST WORK.
Anyway... All my music goes through iTunes for tagging and importing album art. I do NOT use 'albumart.jpg.' I just embed the cover into the mp3 using iTunes.
So my obvious question is: why does the stock music app only show SOME of my album art????????????? Why has this not been resolved in the past how many ever years????
What's more is that not only does it not show my album art for some songs, but it shows the WRONG aka, album art from OTHER songs in some songs! For example: in song B it will show the album art from song F. Yet in iTunes, Winamp, my iPod, Windows Explorer, it shows the correct art!
If it didn't want to show any art for some I'd just say, forget it. But it drives me up a ****ing wall when it completely screws up the covers!
I don't have any albumart.jpg's or any other cover jpgs that would point to a cover! I've scanned that SD card thoroughly! I even wiped cache, dalvik-cache!
WTF?!!? This is a question and a rant in one...
And don't tell me, use MixZing or use Cubed - I know they work, I've tried them - my point is, this is the ONLY platform where little things like this are screwed up!
Telling me to use a 3rd party app to circumvent a "FEATURE" that works everywhere else is not a suggestion of a better program, it is admitting that you too believe Android is inferior and you need 3rd party apps to make it work right.
Any suggestions other than "use another app" are welcome.
Actually, this is NOT the only platform where things like this get screwed up. My gf's ipod gets album art wrong all the time, and she gets all of her music directly from itunes.
I never have this problem with my EVO, but all of my music is either from Amazon MP3 or ripped from CDs that I own.
Oh, and why are you so against using a 3rd party app? You do realize that the stock music player is just an app....right? Android isn't based around media consumption like iOS, it's more of a multi-purpose OS. YOU choose the apps you want to make the OS your own. It doesn't mean the OS is inferior. If anything it makes it BETTER.
Of course, if you like to have everything the same as everyone else, I hear Verizon has a new phone coming out on Feb. 10th that you will probably like.

I put together my own mp3 files/tags/album art myself; sometimes using iTunes if I am working on it at work. Where do you get your music from? Are you sure the information was correct for the files you were attempting to play? So far I have always seen album art for any song I was playing and I cannot ever remember seeing wrong album art. I use the stock player in cyanogenmod 6 and now 7.
How exactly are you inserting the album art in itunes? You're not just using the "get album artwork" functionality and calling it a day, are you?

Unless you use one of the scripts out there to embed it, all iTunes is creating is a metadata link. It doesn't insert anything.

My cover art got mixed up before. There are a couple free "album art grabbers" on the market that I've used, they got right. I had to use the app to clear existing album art, then hit "fetch missing art ", then let it do its thing. It was easy, and worked for me.

I've never been a fan of album art, or at least not of the way its set up on whatever.
My ipod, my evo, windows media player, etc. Its always getting flipped around. Sometimes with albums i download, they come with the cover art, and that art always gets switched with a different album.
I've gotten into the habit of just deleting all album art i find on any devices. It saves hassle. I agree, its a stupid thing, but I don't think its necessarily google's fault. Its just errors with file names, etc.

I was venting buddy, no need to be a ****. As for the iPod, I've never had album art problems, yet I do have them w/ the EVO. Both issues unlike yours so obviously not all devices are 100% perfect...

Nope, I don't do "get album artwork." I've done literally THOUSANDS of mp3s where I'd put them into an iTunes playlist and manually insert the album art through the "edit" or "get info" or whatever that menu is called. I'd say 80% of the time it works.
If I buy a song from iTunes, convert it to MP3 and put it on my EVO the album art ALWAYS works. If I have an album art-less MP3 and insert an album cover using iTunes, it only works about 80% of the time.
Anyway, this is moot now b/c I found out what the problem was. The album art was being cached on my EVO. I have 2 music folders inside my "Music" folder. I just renamed those 2 folders and the Music app now reads 97% of the album art that I've done through iTunes even old-ass MP3 from before there was album art, it works through iTunes.
Sorry to resurrect an old thread.
I am severely anal about my music collection. I have around 17000 songs in it over years of ripping and way too much money spent on Amazon MP3 . I use Media Monkey to make sure all my album art is correct, everything is tagged correctly, all files are named correctly. I even deleted all images for album art and had media monkey add them to the mp3 tags themselves. Believe me it's all fine in the various DLNA/uPnP apps I use in Android, iPad, and PC's (XBMC, 2Player, etc..)
Every time I pull a bunch of files down to my phone (Nexus S) the album art ends up getting screwed up with art with the wrong albums etc (I never pull anything but full albums). I've gone in and wiped the music player data and had it rescan.. Same thing.. A few will come up bad. It's annoying. I mean how hard is it to keep the art for specific MP3's in the database correctly. It doesn't feel like rocket science.
I haven't been able for the life of me figure out exactly why this is happening only on the Android music player.

[Q] CD Covers howto.

Hi all,
I would like to add cd covers to my album, how can I do it?
I have original CDs and I encoded it in MP3 but my gnex don't show me the covers.
How can I add the covers?
Thanks.
if you have the right tags for your song (artist, album name etc) then you can get an app from the market that downloads the covers automatically. i recommend cover art downloader, it gives you the ability to remove covert art if it found the wrong one. There are a lot of these apps on the market, try it out and see what you like

I downloaded cover art, paid for it, I went in settings and selected to write the cover in the ID3 tag.
I can see the cover in the cover art app, but my GNEX doesn't see the cover when I open google music, why?
Use something like media monkey to rip and tag your CD collection.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
You can only add album art to local music files in Google Music, or you can do it through the website "music.google.com".
sorry, i thought you were talking about local music. If you are doing cloud music you must change it on the google music website

I'm talking about local music.
Media monkey can also help you clean up your existing collection using tag from web feature. Pulls data and art from amazon I think.

you will need to manage your ID3.
most of the time, mp3 has alot of version ID2, ID3 APE etc etc tags on them, and the player will only choose one to use.
i use mp3tag to clean them, then put on the album art.
works great.

Music Player

Hello people
I was putting some music on Galaxy W, but was trying to do the following: Put a song and the Kies edited it by putting a picture of her music album.
But the first song I put is in accordance with the image I chose for her, but all others are left with the image I chose for the first song.
For example, the first song I put on the phone is Mettallica, get a picture album using Kies and put it on the phone. All other songs that put the mobile phone will also get the same image that I put to the music of Mettallica.
Someone can tell me why, if we can resolve this problem, there is a Player dare better?
Hi,
I don't use Kies but had a similar problem with broken album covers and what I found out is that:
At least mp3 files need to be tagged complying with the ID3v2.3 revision, this includes covers.
If a mp3 file has no cover embedded it seems to show the cover of the file before that one (although sometimes it also shows a predefined cover place holder of the music player)
What solved this for me is to open the file in question (attach a picture as front cover if necessary) and to save the tags as ID3v2.3. (E.g. with mp3tag or foobar.)
Try this app..available in market and its free..

Google play cover art problem

I've looked everywhere for an explanation on this and can't find it. Maybe you guys can help me.
Most of my songs have their respected album art but some do not. For some reason Google play picks a random cover for almost all of the songs that don't. In my case it picked a nickel back cover.
How do I make the so gs that do not have a cover just have the default blank cover that Google has?
Sent from my GT-P7310 using xda premium
EDIT:
Ok so under closer inspection. Songs with ACTUAL "Unknown" album show the Google unknown album cover.
But some songs with actual cover art in iTunes (where my Google Music syncs) has a cover art but the same song in Google Play has a ****ty Nickel Back cover instead. I attacted 2 pictures showing an example.

Serves you right for listening to Nickelback
Cover art download from iTunes store (not embedded) won't be copied to your phone. Only covers that you add manually are carried over. At least that's the case with me.
Go to music.google.com and login to your acct
Then when you go to albums or the thing you want to change click the drop down by the picture for the album and select "Edit Album Info" and you can upload a pic you want to use for it. You will then want to sync your Google Play Music thru accounts. Added a pic hope that helps

I've got the same issue, though it defaults to a Daughtry album cover. As much as I hate Nickelback, I think I'd prefer to have that as my default cover instead of Daughtry. Before you all give me crap, I don't have one Daughtry song on my phone, so I have no idea how or why Google decided to use that as my default album cover. And I don't use iTunes either, so I'm totally confused by the whole thing.
Anyone know how to switch the default album cover art to something else? I can't find the image file on my phone.
Had similar issues now fixed, first of all i converted all music to mp3 format, on my laptop using a free mp3 converter i found via google search, uploaded them onto my gnex then downloaded 'cover art downloader' from playstore and payed the miniscule donate fee for full options.
Donate version has extra option to embed album art into mp3's (hence mp3 conversion), auto search for missing covers, any it cant find you can manually find using app, all covers are embedded into songs as they are downloaded.
After doing this go into settings-app settings and clear cache and data from google music (btw this will wipe playlists) then reboot phone. When rebooted open google music and it will reload all music with correct covers in place.
The advantage of doing it this way is your art stays with your music hereafter.
Donate version also has auto cover search option for newly added music. Good luck

HTC Music app,how to play by folder?

Hello!
Though I have HTC phones for 2 years, I never used them for music play.
I bought the Stereoclip yeaterday and I am ''obliged'' to use the HOX to stream music as my cowon J3 BT volume is too low and crappy.
Now to focus on the question here, is there any way to play songs per folder?
I always divide my songs by genre in folders like ''Trance'' ''Rock'' ''80s''...
Ok the HTC music player can play by genre but unfortunetly my mp3s are nothing but well ID3taged + I don't want to put 500 songs in a genre.
So please how can I play by folder?
Any modified htc music app for that purpose?

I would create your own playlists with the Names of the genres you are using.
You can also add sources from DropBox etc this could be a good idea if you want to keep the space on your device free for apps etc.
To do this, goto your music play, click the "Settings" top right corner and click "Add Music source"
Hope this helps my friend.

I had the same question like you. I Gave up and installed PowerAMP...
i use a program called. music folder player

Forget the dropbox thingy with our very limited 3G network in Lebanon (20 to 100mb per month), or else I would have used Tuneinradio in my car all the time
I think I will install a 3rd party app though I would have preffered to do it with the HTC music app

Okay, heres three options and I can't think of any other way for you to do it, I hope this is helpful.
1 - Obviously you could use another music player, such as WinAmp.
2 - Sort your music into the folders you want, get a file explorer (I Use ESFileExplorer) go on that, navigate to the folder, long press and then click "Music" that folder will then be loaded by itself into the music, Long winded I know but you can still use the stock app.
3 - Create playlists and just name the playlists by the folder.
2 is probably your best bet !
Thanks dude!
I will try playlist to begin with, if it's a pain in the as* I will install a good 3rd party app.
Btw which one is the best (music quality) and has lockscreen controls?

No worries mate
Tbh never used a third party music player, as in my opinion they are never as loud or clear as the stock. Perhaps that could be sorted if you know what to do with an equaliser, but I don't haha.
Couple of Suggestions that I know are good music players:
DoubleTwist - GirlFriend uses this, its free, very smart and sleek looking, and has many functions. Including the lock screen control you asked for. I'd take a look at this.
Player Pro - Looks very capable but never had an experience with it.
Also
WinAmp - Has been around for long time, before android even existed as it was a PC music player, hense the "Win" for "Windows"
I had a good look at PlayerPro, this could be a brilliant option for you, its got everything you've previously mentioned, playing by folder, lock screen controls. etc etc
Hi mate,
here's what I did on my HTC Desire X. You create a folder with a specific name where you put all your music and then in the Music app on HTC Android, you Search for that folder. It then shows up under Albums and you are able to play only the tracks contained in that Album/folder. For the folder names, they have to be somewhat unique, if you have a lot of music on your phone because otherwise it's gonna getm mixed up.
Hope it helps!
Since Sense 4+ we can use folders play in the HTC Music app
I just found an easy solution to the problem.
1. Organize all your songs on your phone under folders as you like
2. Connect your phone to a PC
3. Open Windows Media Player
4. Select all songs from one folder (on the phone) and add to Windows Media Player Playlist
5. Rename Playlist according to your preference
6. Save the playlist
7. Copy the playlist from your music folder on your PC and paste it on your phone in the Music folder
8. The playlist will now be available on your stock music player
