Hi.
I'm considering buying a GNexus, but I don't understand why people are not missing that button?
I have legend, incredible s, sensation, nexus s, s2 and now I have One X and I'm really annoyed that the button is missing, but then thought the same thing would be with the GNexus.
So... Is there a shortcut that I'm missing or how do you live without it?
And don't understand why Google wants this, so there must be a reason ;-)

I live without it. For the better. :screwy:
let it be.

Oy, vey. AOKP helps in the case of the Galaxy Nexus, which uses the screen itself to display buttons. The One X displays a menu button in a weird bar thing that HTC added to Sense 4. AOKP won't be able to help your One X as it has these Nexii.

Menu button sucks. Apps that over-use it as a crutch offer a worse experience.
I hate to waste screen space for that button and wasting time pushing the wrong iconed onscreen button

No, I don't miss it. It's ugly and the action bar makes so much more sense.
My gripe is with the app developers that are too lazy to update their UI for integration with these new design styles.

Well that's HTC's bad design going with hardware buttons, coupled with app developers dragging their feet.
Personally I miss it.
However in app, there is a menu in the taskbar which is supposed to replace it.
The suppression of the search button, is sometime more problematic...
In my opinion, it would be better to offer the user the choice of which buttons he wants (or doesn't want) to have.
AOKP -> Big menu button in the navbar and the small menu button removed to make more space in the navbar.
Too long; didn't read: AOKP.

Are there any root applications that will let you remap what buttons do what? The CM9 build doesn't have a dedicated Recent Apps button, and instead has a menu button.

Yeah, I figured that out. Man, all I want is the recent apps button to actually bring up recent apps.

the reason the buttons are mapped the way they are in CM9 is because of the following reason: CM9 DID'NT Play well with the way they are mapped for Stock\Sense, only 1 button would work...so hence the way they are now, it's fully functional and you will have to live with it.

Do you actually did the recent apps button useful? I thought it was annoying.

That's the way Android is moving towards. A home, back and recent apps button. Having the menu button in each app makes a lot more sense. Also, how did it not play nice? CM9 is ICS and they are ICS buttons...

Don't get angry, it's still better than sense. It's just a small grievance. I still don't really understand what you mean by "binded for sense" though. The buttons are the stock android 4.0 buttons.

For starters. Smaller buttons. Maybe black them out with blue outline. (Holo)
Perhaps' Say it' button on top. Maybe highlight background white or silver if anything is in the box, black if not. Just to show people what to press after they type. (letters or words)
Maybe the MyApps and Rate in the menu option. (pressing menu) The ability to turnoff shake to clear. You can add a banner somewhere that ask for people to support you by checkibg out your apps. How about 'About' section. What your using to make this happen (tts, google, who you are, email contact etc. etc..)

I have just upgraded to JB from Venom 2.7.1. Kinda miss the Venom tweaks a lot. Is there any mod for the notification pull down where you can put pictures in the background or quick launch app or something like power widget stuff (where you can turn on/off wifi, data, etc..)
Not yet, Viper team will work on that after Offiial JellyBean release in Europe
Abandoned ViperX for now...had to try JB... try this for pull down (wifi on off...and other stuff)

use power toggles widget it has both Homescreen widgets and notification center widgets and it's fully customizable !
I'm currently using SwitchPro. It's extremely customisable and very battery friendly.

Hi devs.
This might be an extra thread so if it is, I apologize and it can be locked. I've searched for one but couldn't find.
I've been getting used to using the stock browser rather than what Google called chrome.
On it is a lab feature for quick control like illustrated below.
Is there any similar or possible mod for NavBar to appear this way through out Android system on Nexus 4?

Although this doesn't make the phone fill screen, I bet you can get a ROM that takes navigation bar out.
Also follow the installation instruction provided on the link!

AOKP has a feature called "Expanded Desktop" which can be toggled through the power menu that allows the NavBar to be hidden.
Check that out.
There's also Button Savior which can be hidden until you want them back. I like them.

Its actually on my CM10.1 as well. I just wished there was a sort of gesture to the CM version. Instead of pushing the power button for expanded screen.
Hopefully someday.
Swagged out of my N⁴ using XDA Premium
On paranoidandroid, in beta 8 and beyond there's a setting that lets you reduce the navigation bar to 0%, which gets rid of the navigation bar but still keeps the status bar.
I've been using my nexus like this with LMT, and it works perfectly, with the extra 80 something pixels from navigation bar. it looks really nice.
There is an app. it is called hidebar
www.ppareit.github.com/HideBar
it stays in the notifs and when you tap it it removes the buttons until you touch either the top or bottom of the screen which brings them back.
have fun

edit: i made the softkey from htc one x myself
and thats how they look like on liquid rom if anyone wants them

you can either install roms that support changing the image file on navigation bar (ex. xylon) or replacing the image files on your rom zip file using any zip/rar program.
hope that helps.

I guess this is nice, for those who wants a "HTC One copy" Ty for the softkeys.
Since the HTC logo makes no sense I made this real quick http://imgur.com/32YRoUa
I went ahead and did this Nav bar theme on my N4 for kicks & giggles. Love the option to do such things. Already freaked out a few of my friends as they thought I had an HTC. Good stuff I will look up more Nav bar themes that I can do.
HTC soft keys, touchwiz looking launcher. You're literally killing your Nexus.
