[Q] How to save fw files during update??

hi all
i want to modify a firmware but it is not released yet on samfirmware.com
i wrote on samfirmware twitter's page with no use...they didn't even say we are working on it
so what i want is to save the firmware files from kies during the update
how this could be done???

Which Windows you use?
On XP you can see during Download 1 file... in Temp folder:
tmpAD.tmp something like that
If Kies is ready with Download, then it decrypt/decompress this file into:
tmpAD.tmp.zipfolder
Now, if you see on your Wave this Picture with handset... then you can copy files from Tempfolder.
About Win 7 I read this:

In new kies versions registry trick not work anymore
as new kies reload firmware version also during update process.
There was some time ago way to imitate kies, but now traffic between kies and update server are crypted.

For galaxy are available tool "Kies registry pacther" which works also with new Kies.

Probly best way is flash newest available full firmware for your region with multiloader and then update via kies

i managed to save the .tmp file only
how do i extract it
I contacted samfirmware but i didnt get any help
i googled and found nothing
my kies has suddenly stopped workin it just shows not respoding
reinstaling doesnt fix it , im on win 7 by the way
and i havnt been able to update firmware with kies so far becos something or the other would happen
my only hope is extracting that tmp file

Copy .tmp file to desktop without closing kies. Then rename to .zip. You will then have access to all files inside update file.

i want to change it to XSG
i flashed origianl JPJG2 which is full firmware to change the product code but with no use
i am on win 7 64-bit so qualcom drivers doesnot work for me
can anyone get for me the 64-bit version???

After you flashed original firmware you must also reinstall pre-configutation to change product code.
If in preconfiguration already are XSG, change it some other and then back to XSG.
To reinstall preconfig

and after patching the registry it shows this
i read your way of changing product using PSAS but i couldn't do it as the drivers doesn't work for win 7 64-bit
seems that the product code won't be changed again
should i use 32-bit windows to change it adfree??
sorry for being late but i had to go to buy something

manged to solve it using Windows XP mode & qualcom driver
after fixing it the update showed up without patching registry
started the update and waiting it to complete download to take the files
using PSAS under XP mode was like a disaster on my weak old laptop

i tried renaming to .zip , rar , tar etc, but it doenst extract
i even installed XP today just for the sake of updating but still kies shows not responding... it was working fine few weeks ago, but then it suddenly stopped working... i thought it was because of windows 7 , but now i have XP and still it isnt working
please tell me how to extract the tmp file or at least how to get kies working

i am so sorry to tell you this but you don't extract that file by yourself or any program
kies shows during update a windows says in it decyrepting & decompressing binary files
then when you go to the temp folder you will find a folder contains all the files copy it and you will finish

Flash player 10.3 is available in the market but it won't still work for some reason!

Doesn't work on Samsung Galaxy Ace.
Tested with default browser or dolphin browser.

in my case is the same, but in a portuguese forum some guys are saying that is working on them ace's and also on lg p500, wich is the same cpu

Fake, doesn't work for me with any browser.

I also can't run it.

Tested with stock and Miren browser, went to http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ to test.
Does not work.
I read the comments at sourcelink, it just works on some few devices, less than stated in the description there.

Works!
It plays Flash Videos but only with Puffin Web Browser.
Does not work in Full Screen but it works in the browser.
I'm not using Flash Player 10.1 but Flash Player 10.3 (from the Market)

Puffin can process flash without installing it. If Flash Player had installed, it would have worked in any browser.

I use Pogoplug on my home server and on my SGA, when I want to stream a video from the app it asks for the flash player plugin, so I installed the one from the market and the Pogoplug app stopped of asking for the plugin and it shows a play button on the screen when I try to play the video, but if I click on the button it launches the web browser and start to download the video.
Is interesting, I'll try with other versions of the plugin.

Anyway I think WifiDirect is software thing.
Maybe we should check both S8600, Wave M/Y and S8500's .so files controlling Wifi.
Perhaps if we find the .so files we have a chance.

It's what I think too.
All this option activate the wifi direct but the menu does not propose wifi direct.
If we could modify and watch the .so files, I think we could display the wifi direct option.

I'm using FileSeek to quickly find strings inside every file of the firm.
We could isolate files containing the correct string and compare in both Wave I and Wave III firms.
Mostly, I have only found references to Wifi Direct in .so files and apps_compressed.bin
It could be a beginning, ain't it?

Also please forget about S8600 .so files
S8600 files has different QRam compression version that was never seen in S8500 files
Decompressing these files is not possible until now
I know this is going to be harder....We need to focus on apps_compressed.bin

I've tested a method instead of wifi direct on a galaxy ace and it worked
but there is some problems with wave (which i think its the dolphins problem)
what i've done
we have 2 handsets
1- start Mobile AP on handset 1
2- connect to this AP from handset 2
3- start a wifi file sharing app (like "downloader manager" in bada) on handset 2
4- enter the ip address given by file sharing app to handset 1's internet browser
now you can see all files of handset 2
I think it's dolphins fault cuz i've test a wave 2 and a galaxy ace
when galaxy ace wants to connect me there's no problem
when i want to connect it says "Requested URL not available"
so please someone test with another browser like Voluntas

when we enter this ip and port to another bada phone on the same network, nothing will be opened but it is ok via pc browsers
so is the problem for dolphin?

There's an bada app used for demonstration of WiFi Direct feature, found source somewhere, can't remember. Here's the source code, if someone has the time feel free to try. It's just the matter of compiling the app with bada SDK.

[Q] Samsung Apps Problem

Hello guys,
This is my problem: When I open Samsung Apps at my phone, it gives to loading screen and after that it crashes, it just goes back to the home screen.
I think this is because I updated Samung Apps at a 3G network, but the connection was lost, so it didn't finish the update...
I just dit a factory reset, but it still crashes...
And when I open Kies, it says there is an update for Samsung Apps. But when I click on `update` it says that the latest version is already installed.
Is there a way to reset samsung apps? To remove and re install it?

Im having same problem. I recently updated my phone's firmware to Bada 2.0. Straight away i tried to go to Samsung apps, but it shouted it needed to be updates. Well, update it is... My phone anyway jammed during the installation of update. Well, i rebooted it, but afterwards samsung apps doesn't open up on my mobile. It just opens the Samsung apps splash screen and goes back to menu or desktop, where ever i try to open it up.
Things i've tried to resolve this problem:
1. Factory reset, did nothing
2. Hard reset, didn't help
3. Tried to remove folder Samsung Apps from mobile with TK file explorer and stune, didn't work out. Not sure if it was right directory tho. Was something like AppEx\SamsungApps
Is there a way to re-install Samsung apps app?
Any help will be appreciated

You must flash the ShpApp.app of your firmware with multiloader. Write *#1234# to know your firmware version, then download the firmware and use multiloader to flash lite the Shpapp only.

There's 3 firmwares with exact same sw/csc details. None of those say it's suitable for Finnish version though. Can i still use those for this purpose?
Is there some guide to flash this thing only or do i have to fiqure it out myself?
And does this small flashing lose my personal data?

You can use what you want of this 3 firmware, no problem Open multiloader and don't select full firmware and bootfiles and select only SHPAPP. Take your ShpApp and click on Port Search and Download. No data lose.
But...have you ever flash before?

To be honest, i haven't never even seen a multiloader I've always flashed my firmware the legal ways (kies). But it can't be that hard, can it?
Does it matter what version of multiloader i use?

Then open Multiloader and select LSI and click on SHPAPP. Select your ShpApp and then click on Port Search and Download:

Ok, now i got firmware and multiloader 5.65. Only thing i need to do on the app is insert ShpApp.app to it's place?

Ok, so: open Samsung Kies and go to "Tools" (I think ) and "errors in troubleshooting connections" (or something similar). You need drivers.

Well, i managed to handle it with another computer. Percentages started running, will see what happens...

Samsung Apps Test

Hi people there is a method to have the samsung apps test. I don't know which is the method exactly, but I only know that we must modify the kona.exe files from original samsung apps and then create a new signature with a program. Do you know what we must modify on the exe file to have the samsung apps test?

I don't know how to do it, but by using 7-zip I managed to de-compress kona.exe as it is a simple zip archive, in it there are four files (named: 0,1,2,3), by opening the biggest (named '1') with an hex editor (or notepad too) and by scolling the content you can read some piece of c++ source code of the samsungapps application (probably the headers..) and some other strings.

i don't understand ! you open kona.exe with 7z & it's work?!
as i know , we mast use some program like Hex or exe hacker to modify exe files .

I transform the samsung apps.oap file in zip file and then extract it. Then I have all files, manifest.xml, kona.exe, application.xml, ....

it seems that only kona.exe has a file header recognized as a compressed directory:

anyway, by opening both the 'four parts extracted' or directly the exe as a text file gives the same result.
The samsung apps installation folder is: \Osp\Application\8d7uw8z551\
The server configuration can be found in: \Osp\Applications\8d7uw8z551\Data\KonaConfig.ini (maybe are stored also into other files in other dir..)
Maybe other usefull path are:
\SystemFS\User\OspSys\registry\systeminfo.ini (here seems that can be found the system information returned by the bada API - notice the SamsungApps AppID..);
\SystemFS\User\OspSys\registry\OspSyncProfile.ini;
\SystemFS\User\OspSys\registry\service.ini;
\AppEx\Sys\SamsungApps\SamsungApps.oap (probably is the one used when an hard reset is performed)
obviously for authentication there is always SamsungAccount.oap and, also, actually, as I know, there is no way to generate a valid signature for customized app (the way you probably intend does not 'generate' any signature but uses the default one provided for SDK app development... that is the only one)

There is a method to generate valid signature, I installed some apps with this method...

Use Google...
If you modify Binary.. *.exe
Hash changes... so also Signature is invalid...
You need to create new one... This is why you can use this Tool, also

Instead only stupid Spoofing... without using own brain...
To modify Binary... *.exe ... use Google too...
One hint is HEX Editor...

this is exactly what I intended in my last sentence, why do you think XadaXppsXignature work only for the last app?
it doesn't generate any valid signature for custom apps, it uses the one provided to developer to test their app with bada sdk and only the last installed work... if it did so, all bada security policy would be fully broken with one click...
