Normal or Micro-SIM? - HTC One X

I've read in different places conflicting specs about ONE X SIM card. Which one is true? does it come with normal SIM or micro?

It needs a Micro-SIM

Mine has a Micro Sim as well.

Mine microsim. But no problem, normal sim can cut

FYI: Normal sim card is the size of a credit card, mini sim is what you'll are referring to.
And the HTC One X uses a Micro sim.

We know that it isn't a "micro" sim,but that is how it's called by the companies.

Ok then, is it like the one I have in my HTC Desire HD or like the one my son has in his iPhone? (that way we can't get it wrong)

Mini sim on the left (bigger), micro sim on the right (smaller).

clear enough guys, thanks

Galaxy nexus micro sim slot?

Can someone tell me for certain (someone who has the phone or has opened one up), tell me if the Galaxy Nexus has a micro sim slot or not? I can't seem to find a straight answer anywhere...
No, normal SIM.
Just look at the instructional videos straight from google. It does not have a micro SIM. It has a standard (what we think of as standard is actually "Mini") SIM.
Remember though, you can put a micro SIM in a mini SIM slot. You just need a small plastic adapter to make it seat properly.

The Galaxy Nexus definitely takes a normal sim card. The confusion may have arisen over phones4u sending out micro sim cards with new orders but this was a mistake and a standard sim card is the only one that will work in there.
Mark.

Well like I said above, a micro SIM will work if you use an adapter. The adapters allow you to slot a micro SIM into them and provide extra plastic around them to be the size of a mini SIM.
The slot in the phone is most definitely a standard SIM slot though.

Not entirely true, it is possible to balance/wedge the microsim on the contacts and have a working phone

Well that would have been ok then IF an adapter had been supplied with the micro sim but as it wasnt then its totally useless lol.

Yes I agree that wedging random things in sim slot is bad idea, however....
If you happened to be like me and have tons of random mobile crap or sim leftover items like the cards that are credit card sized which house the original micro-sim often, then some of them have an actual cutout of a larger sim original size sim to be more clear which is popped out then the micro-sim is popped out of that piece. It's a backup/cheap way I figured for companies at one time to make sims and ship them out in one pack/card then when the user gets their phone and they match up what sim size they need they have both options....or I could be very wrong who knows.
Any ways, my point is simply that one of those leftover housings of a original size sim that you might have popped out a micro-sim from for another phone can come in handy as all you do is simply place your current micro-sim in the gap where another one used to be and it kind of even snaps into place then you have a bootleg like adapter for micro to original size sim. I don't know it worked me on my i9250 gsm world nexus and verizon.

Can I use my micro sim from my HTC One S for the HTC One X. I just ordered one and would like to know if I will be needing a new sim card.
Thanks
Will work perfectly

[Q] Micro Sim - did you cut your own?

I'm hopefully getting a One X next week and it's just occurred to me that I'll need a Micro Sim card for it. I have a regular sim at the moment in my Sensation. I'm on the O2 network at the moment, will they give me a micro sim if I call into one of their stores, or is it just as easy to cut mine down to size?
Got mine from Virgin mate they sent me a new card i had to ring em tell them to activate my new sim so I guess itll be the same for you
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
cutting the sim card is not recommended, because from my personal experience cutting the sim card MAY work for some time but with crappy signal, because when you cut the sim card a part of the copper part will be damaged which will result in bad signal followed by the termination of it. so i recommend that you get the micro sim
hope i helped.
I ordered a sim card cutter from Amazon. I had NO ISSUES AND NO DAMAGE to the sim card. If you do it correctly it's a non issue.
HTC One X running Viper ROM and Faux kernel....
Used sim cutter.
o2 will give you one if you request it
I just did mine a couple of hours ago with scissors - didn't cut any of the copper/metal. Working no problem so far.
Vodafone sent me a regular sim with the phone for some strange reason so I cut it down and works a charm!
No, I didn't. Just purchased a new micro sim card, with my number.
Same here. Popped in to my local Vodafone store, and for a small fee exchanged my regular sim for a micro sim, which was live in under five minutes. They even offered to move all my contacts over, but as they're backed up I gracefully declined
I'm using mine from the iPhone 4.

Yes, I cut my own without issue. If possible, practice on an unneeded card before cutting the real one. It is quite easy.

I cut mine with scissors, although I own a SIM cutter now which has been helpful for others.
Cutted mine and have no issues

It's very easy to cut down the card with a pair of scissors. Just make sure to mark the correct size first.

with mts in russia they changed it without any problem.
i cutted 2 sims in italy in the same vodafone shop but first time they cutted a piece of metal contact.... still working but with some signal loosing
I used a simple DIY cutter
Noosy Micro Sim Cutter.

[Q] SIM Card used in Galaxy NOTE II

Hi,
I visited a Samsung showroom here in India today, and I was said by store manager that the usual SIM Card used in Note I cannot be used with the Note II and you may need to cut the sim card (as it is to be done on iPhone 5). Is this true? If there is such a need to be undergone for using the SIM CARD in galaxy Note II?
I've just found out that is true!!
My SIM from my HTC Desire needs to be cut down with a micro sim cutter (Ebay) or a replacement micro sim card from your provider

its better get a new micro sim from your service provider. one of the mobile store guy had cut my sim wrongly, the edges gone, and it didn't work anymore, i did went to the service provider and replaced a sim, also get a micro sim adapter, which will be usefull when you need to use the sim in non micro sim phones.

Yes, it's the same, it'd you are going to convert your standard SIM to a Micro SIM, I would suggest using the dedicated tool for doing it, as opposed to using a pair of scissors or a utility knife.
You can use the aforementioned tools, but it's changed with higher risks of damaging the SIM.

No, the iPhone 5 uses nano-sim, not micro sim like the iphone 4/4s, note 2 etc use.
You can see in this image that the micro sim used in the note 2 (right) is larger than the new nano sim used in the iphone 5 (middle)
Cmon its not that big of a deal..any shop keeper would cut ur sim for free or 100 bucks max..and u can even buy ur own sim cutter from eBay costs 150 rs..
Takes 5 seconds to cut it..
Y so worried??

The reason for my hesitation is that, once the cut is made, it makes the sim card not to be used in other regular sim card cell phones.

Well in ebay if you search for sim cutters they will also provide adaptors for micro sim as well. You can use them with your normal cell phones. No problem for you.

Note ii & vodafone uk micro sim cards

Hello there,
has anyone got a note ii with vodafone micro sim card running fine?
I have inserted several micro sim cards from vodafone, including at two vodafone stores, sadly non of them get recognised. Could my note ii be faulty?
I need to know this so that I can return it to Handtec UK.
Thanks for the heads up.

It is very strange because I have a pay as you go vodafone micro sim card that works just fine, as does a t-mobile micro sim from my s 3.
The trouble is with the contract micro sent to me, as well as the ones I tried today.
Also, when you look at the chips on the micro sims, the t-mobile as well as the vodafone pay as you go micro sims are longer than the chips on the others. When voda sent the micro to me, it read iPhone/iPad. The assistants in the voda stores claim the micro sim is said to be for iPad/iPhone, but should work in any phone designed to take micro sim cards.
I got mine from Vodafone as upgrade. It comes with a micro sim. It has been working fine for me for the last 2 weeks.

I have tried O2, tmobile, gifgaff, and an Asian roaming sim card with mine and they all work. Are you saying the sim card from voda is not the same size as the one that works? Maybe they are NANO sim cards and the contacts dont line up with your Note 2. So they don't work. Or if they are for iphone, then they are for iphone, which is trying hard to monopolise the industry, but will NEVER happen! Phuck apple devices !!!!
Probably vodafone are giving me non cards, because as I said, their pay as you go has a longer chip. The trouble is that the guys in the stores can see this, but insist the "nano" should work?

They're giving you nano-sims?
Unless you're inserting them with an adapter I doubt they'll work as the note 2 is designed to take micro sims, not nano sims. Nano sims are a bit smaller.

I just don't know what is up with these sim cards. I was on chat with a voda customer rep. He will be sending out another sim card. I hope it works. I advised him to look at the lengths of the chip itself, and get to me one that equals the length of their PAYG micro sim cards.
I will let you know how I get on in three to five working days, which is when the sim might be with me.
I cut mine with scissors... I couldn't wait long enough to drive 5 miles to the nearest store haha

Actually it's funny because I've tried to insert nano simcard by a mistake and it actually works (DON'T THINK ABOUT DOING THIS). I hope it won't move while being inside or I'm screwed. It was already too late when I realized that nano sim card is different from micro sim. Guess I was too excited to try this phone out.
The screenshots were taken with SG Note 1 and I kept the resolution unchanged.
Don't ask me how did I do it, because I don't know it myself.

I also made calls with it and it's working just fine.

Yeah I'll have to buy an micro sim adapter for the peace of mind.
You can purchase micro sim cutters; or use one as a template. I've had no issues with my normal sim cut with scissors. Hell, I wonder why they decided to go the micro-sim root anyway. Complicates things.

I am currently using my micro sim from my iphone 4 on the note 2 and had no problems. I have been using the same sim on the day of the launch of note 2 and it's been fine.
Could the moderators please close this thread?
My issue has been resolved. The micro sim card tray was faulty.
I posted my phone back to Handtec on Wednesday. They received it yesterday, and I have received a new replacement today.
They are excellent for delivering quality in time. One day between the original order and delivery, one day between return/warranty and replacement.
If they could do it in one day, they would.
