[Q] Stuck on HTC white screen, Wildfire useful as a brick - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I'm screwed up so I'm begging for your help ç_ç
I was trying various ROM for my wildfire... until the problem showed up, white screen with the htc logo, no sign of life.
Smartphone so far:
1.02 -> unlocked with HTC unlocker
radio -> latest
last rom -> Rempuzzle
S-ON -> can't find a way to set it off
When the problem showed up I
- tried to reflash the rom folowing the steps -> no result
- tried to reflash the radio via flashboot -> refused due to s-off
- tried to reinstall the ruu to restore everything and try again -> refused due to "rom not supported, try again plz" (but it worked before FFS! ç_ç"
Please guys you are my last hope ._.
SOLVED:
By reloading a safe ruu via clockwork recovery and doing everything again.. yeah °_°

RUU
Which RUU did you use and where did you get it I done the same thing to my wildfire.

S-ON your phone using the guide in my sig.
Then S-OFF it again, also using the guide in my sig.

[Q] i think my Desire HD bricked ! please help !

Hi,
I was trying to root my phone with the guide that is on this forum, but then when i restarted my phone, it was stuck on the white "HTC" boot screen. Then i tried to do a "Factory Reset" in hboot and rebooted, and still stuck on the boot screen. I tried to put a PD98IMG.zip as it was prompted in hboot as "no image or wrong file", so i loaded PD98IMG.zip onto my SD card, and still not working. any suggestions ?
my phone is S-ON.
I guess your phone is branded ? If that's the case, you need to follow the tutorial for a goldcard.
Also, if your rom is 1.7x or 1.8x, you can't root it. You have to follow the downgrade tutorial 1st
Mine took 30 mins to boot once. You could try the ruu look in dev section, you just flash it from Windows, then start again. Was your she branded?

I was in the same situation, downgraded ROM and clockwork mod and did a restore and it works fine now
@Howling Wolf - I cannot get the CID for the SD card, because
in the 'adb shell' command, my command prompt says "error: device not found". But i want to know, can i still get the CID through another HTC desire phone ? and can i still update a stock rom with S-ON ? and how do i know if my phone is branded ?
I got my phone from Taiwan, a friend brought it over for me, and when i last checked it was on software version 1.37.921.1 .
@turbo_d - ill try that thnx
did you try installing the htc sync software then do adb devices
ye i did, i installed HTC sync to get the HTC drivers, but from what i noticed is that your phone needs to be "running" instead of being stuck on the white HTC boot screen or even the hboot doesnt pick up the device aswell >.<

Try going into bootloader, and then run adb from pc..
@SAPPH1RE - i tried that but thanks for the help !
ok i acquired my CID through linux, but now its telling me
main version is older !
update fail.
any suggiestions ? my current software version of the phone is 1.37, which stock RUU should i be using ?
If you are on 1.37 you should be fine to continue with getting s-off and such. You don't need to upgrade or downgrade your ROM until you achieve s-off. And then you should upgrade to a custom ROM such as LeeDroid.

did you get it working ?
I fixed mine a few weeks back by doing a full wipe and then loading a fresh ROM
Thing is, i cant get my phone to start up, so i need to flash a stock rom, so that i can get my phone started and then do S-OFF. But it keeps telling me "Main Version is older!"
ive tried 2 roms already, 1.32 and 1.72 RUU. What could be the problem ?
thnx problem solved, the gold card wasnt done properly, so i re did everything.
thnx for the help guys !

[Q] HTC Desire boot problem

Ok, before you guys all start flaming, I read all the topics on Desire boot problems.
A friend of mine has a Desire which suddely rebooted and came into a bootloop. Sometimes it even got till the unlock screen, but most of the times it rebooted in the HTC Quitely brilliant screen.
Now ive tried to "fix" this:
I first tried to install the latest RUU:
RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed
It gave either connection error [170], or went into bootloader and gave another error (signature error)
next option was to extract rom.zip from the RUU from the %TEMP% folder, rename this PB99IMG.zip (3x checked that it wasnt zip.zip was), put this on my goldcard (http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/10/how-to-create-a-goldcard/). after that boot into bootloader and let it flash.
This flash gave no errors/fail, after that rebooted my phone. Than there is a green circular arrow logo with the middle arrow pointing down.. After that the phone reboots one last time (without vibrating) and is stuck at the HTC logo.
Also tried recovery factory reset.. to no avail
About the phone:
HTC Desire
HBoot 0.93.00001
S-ON
Not rooted
EDIT POST: Just switched from english to dutch, lol, was interrupted while writing (sorry lordvoldemort).
english please..cant understand your language

check the guide in my signature
I Dont see any options in your thread that I didnt point out above, and didnt work... As im still S-ON, the options are limited...
Sent it back to HTC and use your warranty.

as much as I hate advising to use that particular RUU it MAY help you.. or just make it worse..
since you have a goldcard try other RUU's maybe
Dont think I can use any other RUU's because it might be an SLCD desire, which means any RUU lower than 2.xx will brick the screen..
BTW Ive tried the gingerbread RUU, one time it went flashing but stayed like that for 1,5 hour... pulled the plug...
Most of the times it gives a verification error..
I suggest u S-OFF/root ur Desire and install a custom ROM.
See these: http://revolutionary.io/
www.alpharev.nl
Afer u`ve successfuly S-OFFed, search for a suitable pre-rooted ROM for ur SLCD Desire, on xda-developers, there`s plenty to choose from

Desire Gingerbread Update Fail

OK I downloaded the Gingerbread RUU Update for the Desire and ran it, the update went fine and said on the screen it had completed correctly.
BUT!! Now when I turn the phone on I sometimes get to the Lockscreen if I am lucky and the phone just reboots or other times the phone reboots after the HTC splash screen.
I have tried running the update again and even re-downloading the update but it makes no difference. I have also gone into the HTC Recovery and selected "Clear Storage" but does not help
Also tried booting without Memory Card or Sim Card but no dice
Anyone know what else I can try?
Details about the phone:
- Bravo PVT3 SHIP S-ON
- HBOOT 1.02.0001
- RADIO 5.17.05.23
Any possible solutions would be great

O2-UK Version, has all the o2 branding etc.
There you go. Unfortunately I can't help you with that. Wait for someone more skilled in this area.
Branded O2 phone? Possible.
Run Revolutionary.io = Root/S-OFF
Then flash 2.2 Official or if you want, then flash a Custom Rom with 2.3.

Right I maybe being stupid but can't find anything on the Revolutionary Wiki Page about using it in Recovery Mod?
Also I have a working desire which revolutionary detects when android is loaded but the desire that has the failed Gingerbread update (and bootloops) does not get detected in Bootloader or Fastboot mode.
Which stage should revolutionary detect the phone?
It should in Fastboot.

Tried my working and non-working desire but Revolutionary does not detect the phones when they are in fastboot mode.
The working Desire gets detected when Android has booted up and "USB Debugging" is enabled.
Any other ideas?
you might need htc's usb drivers for the pc to detect the phone

My working Desire gets detected as I have already said, but only when Android is booted.
This is a problem for the phone that bootloops and I am trying to fix as it doesn't make it into Android
Also none of the guides say about using Revolutionary from within Fastboot Mode. Is it defiantly possible?
Right made a little progress!
Managed to run Revolutionary by booting in Safe Mode (Holding Menu while booting)
Next problem is no matter what ROM I try and use they just reboot while booting
- Tried the Stock 2.2 ROM from Modaco but it just reboots.
- Then Updated Radio to latest 5.17.05.23.
- Switched to AlphaRev CM7 r2 HBOOT.
- Tried installing the latest CM7 but that just reboots on boot too.
Have been Wiping Data / Cache and Factory Resetting before installing each ROM but cannot get one to boot correctly.
Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?

Revolutionary requires that ur phone boot correctly in order to s-off
Sent from my HTC Desire
Just want to say a BIG THANK YOU to everyone for the ideas, the phone is now working correctly.
This was the process I used to get the phone working again after failed RUU Update (phone was bootlooping and had no Recovery with S-ON)
- Booted into Safe Mode (holding Menu Button while booting)
- Ran Revolutionary to gain S-OFF
- Flashed AlphaRev Bravo CM7 r2 using Fastboot
- Flashed Latest ClockworkMod using Fastboot
- Booted into Clockwork and Wiped Data and Cache
- Still in Clockwork Formatted all Partitions (System, Data, Cache, Boot etc..)
- Downloaded latest CyanogenMod copied to SD Card and Installed via Clockwork
Phone is now fully functional so Thanks Everyone

Did you make a goldcard? and get a newest RUU from http://htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads
You can't flash anything with s-on. You need s-off before flashing.
Does S-Off void warranty?
Do i can fix this after S-OFF. Does it void warranty?

CAn i fix this issue or does my phone is bricked???
The issue
I tried to install back the 2.2 version as said in the link u mentioned. (From earlier i wasnt able to access recovery mode. i restarts when clicking it.) Taths y i followed those instryctions. Bt while on the update it showed an error. and from there on only the black screen iwth 4 triangles. Now i cant access the boot loader even. Can i fix this. Please help me?
please provide some more information, what hboot it had before you flashed RUU, is fastboot working? is it branded? what RUU did you flash as first? Did you make a goldcard before process?
You could try flashing this recovery file to your phone. I don't know if you can access recovery with S-on though. http://files.androidspin.com/downloads.php?dir=amon_ra/RECOVERY/&file=recovery-RA-desire-v2.0.0.img
I assume your pc recognises your phone so you can flash files?
You could upload a video showing what your phone does so everyone can see.

what error did it give? I'm guessing you didn't bother reading the intro, and that you didn't have a goldcard.. hence you got yourself in this situation? make a goldcard, then run the RUU again.. this is simple business.. or you can try the riskier way of running the 2.3.3 RUU

[Q] Bricked Desire - Can't get past bootloader

After reading Bortak's guide, I was still unable to fix this bootloop as I don't have a goldcard, and it seems like you need a functional Desire to create one.
The situation is:
> Desire can boot into Fastboot (Power button + back button), but attempting to enter recovery causes a boot loop (Carrier splash screen)
> Attempting to enter recovery directly (Power button + volume down) causes a boot loop
> I lost the MicroSD with this phones' recovery on it, all I have is a spare blank MicroSD
I'm wondering, is it possible to flash a new recovery off the SD card, through fastboot?
Or, can I do this through a USB connection somehow? (I currently have the latest HTC Sync installed)
Thanks for any help!
Edit: My Desire is S-ON (I swear it used to be S-OFF, but who can remember, I haven't picked this phone up for ages) and HBOOT is 0.75.0000
S-on users cant flash a custom recovery through fastboot. It can be done only via the unrevoked method. What exactly did you do to cause this? Dont you have your own RUU?
I've got similar problem, but i don't have root.
I made S-OFF with revolutionary and rovolutionary couldn't flash clockworkmod. Previously, I didn't know that I have to do root... so i wanted to do s-on to do this root. I downgraded phone to hboot 0.80 as they said on alpharev website. But now, I can't get out from fastboot. Every time, when i'm robooting, it goes to fastboot.
Please, could You help me?
Flash 2.3.3 RUU via fastboot and use revolutionary again.
Which one from those
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667
is 2.3.3?

When I got my Desire HD, I flashed Oxygen rom on this Desire and gave it to a friend. I have no idea how it got in its current state. I'm downloading the latest official RUU now.
If someone could provide some instructions on how to flash the RUU with the phone in it's current state that would be awesome
As long as you can get into fastboot not all is lost, there will be a way of flashing it was a stock rom

Boot phone into fastboot mode, connect phone to computer and start the downloaded RUU.exe on your computer.
The RUU recognized the phone, but it refused to update due to wrong bootloader version. Looks like my RUU was not the right one, back to searching again.
If you have GSM and not a hboot with nummber 6.93.1002, the 2.3.3 RUU should work for you:
http://www.htcdev.com/process/legal_download/152
Ok I found the correct RUU (Telstra) and was able to flash everything except the radio, which failed. Attempted to retry twice but same result.
Now I have the grey HTC logo with the exclamation triangles in the corners.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Sorry mate, but radio brick is unfixable (as far as I know).

Thanks, that RUU flashed successfully! It said rom update complete and so on. At least now I'm making progress.
However, the rom doesn't load and I get a bootloop. I've now got the normal white HTC splashscreen appearing, then the screen flashes black, the phone vibrates 5 or 6 times, and I'm back to the splashscreen again.
I'm able to boot into bootloader (HBOOT 1.02.001 apparently) but not recovery.
I'm not familiar with adb and all that, all I can do is follow instructions, but in short, without being able to load a rom to tick the box for usb debugging, is there any way to S-OFF and or flash CWM if I can get the computer to recognise the phone (while its sitting in bootloader or fastboot mode) with the HTC Sync USB drivers or equivalent?
I'm going to say some probably unrelated words and phrases that I've read in the last days forum trawling, maybe it will jog someones memory:
> Fastboot commands
> Revolutionary hboot drivers
> USB brick
I know its probably time to lay the old Desire to rest, but I'd love to squeeze some more use out of it, I loved that phone.
Greatly appreciate the help
You did not get any errors when flashing RUU? Okay, cool. Check if you still have an ext-partition on your SD card. Maybe this let the romboot loop.
With revolutionary you will be able to get S-OFF and root in two simple steps:
http://revolutionary.io
But read the documentary site very carefully before doing anything!
