Hi everyone.
I'm not terribly technical and i'm absolutely stocked i've found this msgboard to ask for advise.
I have a Motorola bluetooth headset, the one with expandable earpiece.
When the earpiece is closed and the headset is in off mode, XDA can't pick it up when a call comes in and I'm unable to use my headset. I have to have the earpiece open all day so that a call can drop in using my headset.
It's very frustrating.
I hope i'm making sense, and i'm wondering if there's any 3rd party tool out there that will enable me to use my Motorola headset?
any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
cheers.
...it's a Motorola HS810.
cheers.
Motorola headset
There no work around with this headset, you either wear it or you don't, but you have to have it open all the times.
As with all headsets you have to have them switch ON to receive the radio signal from your mobile for you to press the function button and talk.
The trouble with the Motorola is if you want it to look small, (at 21gms and 35mm wide x 75mm long it's not)and inconspicuous you want it shut while it's on the table etc. Which means it's turned off.
In fairness to the 810 you get 5 hours talk and 100 hours standby, so even in its open/on postition you will get over 4 days continuous standby, and it will last for most of the day if you receive and make a lot of calls.
I've made a comparison chart of headsets available this will give you a few choices on the market... email me if you want a copy.. it list cost shipped, talk time standby time, weight, accessories etc.

you're a champion.
thanks for your reply.
I have to carry two phones for work and personal use. I'd like to listen to mp3sc or streaming audio from the internet from my personal phone while working but still be able to take work calls. Taking personal calls would be a very nice addition also.
Is there a headset that can do this? What about a single ear unit?
Personal phone... TMo Wing (Herald)
Work phone... Nokia 6103
Moto H9's
these to me are the best I've ever ever heard......their about 100.00 bucks but well worth it!!!!
MY 2 Cents Peace, mike
You can look at jabra BT 8010. It works as single ear unit or double as stereo with included spk.

Another vote for Moto H9's

Many headsets can pair with 2 or more devices.
I have the Sony-Ericsson HBH-DS970 and I really like it - great sound - minimal weight and appearance - you can tuck one earpiece into your shirtpocket for work use if you need to leave one ear free - nice LED controller for music - see this review, their only complaint was lack of a clip - I just pulled one off a headset I didn't like much, attached to this, and I'm good to go. I think the DS980 is the current version.
I like the Plantronics 855. You can use them single or dual. More discreet and light weight than the Jabra 8010, I have those too.
Also can pair with more than one phone or mp3 player and they pause for phone calls. A2DP.

Moto H9 aren't stereo are they?
Motorola H820s
..better battery life than the S9s, pair with up to 8 devices. i love mine, listening to them now in the office. they also handle handoff really nicely - other headsets i've had have been a pain when they go out and back in range...
Hello all,
I am looking for a Bluetooth headset as well as some Bluetooth headphones. I was wondering if there are any that would be able to combine both of the intended tasks into one pair of devices.
I am looking for something that has two unconnected earpieces where one can be used by itself for calls and when you want to listen to music, you can just put in the second one. I have not been able to find anything like this. Does it even exist? Might there be some kind of inability to send the two different sound signals to two different receivers?
I appreciate any help.
Best bluetooth
I went from Jawbone to Blue Ant. I don't really use a headset any more, but I really likede the Jawbone
I would like to combine my Note a good bluetooth headset that I do hear the caller's name perhaps diverting the ringer in the headset when it is set "to driving" that repeats the name of the caller.
I purchased the "BlueAnt Q2", which stores contacts in its internal memory and then repeat the caller's name (as promised!) but in fact repeats the caller's number one for a scanning the numbers.
Tips?
Thanks
you can use Jepra it is very nice and compatible

Sony Ericsson MW600 works wonderfully, excellent battery life and outstanding stereo quality sound.
any suggestion for a bt closed earphones?
u cant really listen music with an in-ear earphones (like the sony or the sennheiser).
anyone checked, for example the halo2 from jabra?
tested:
plantronics discovery 975: volume:yes, answer call:no, recall last number:no, vocal controls:yes
LG hbm-900: volume:yes, answer call:yes, recall last number:no, vocal controls:no
sennheiser mm200: volume:yes, answer call:no, recall last number:no, vocal controls:yes, skip ff/back:no
nokia bh-504: volume:yes, answer call:no recall last number:no, vocal controls:no, skip ff/back:no
an answer from plantronics service was that we gotta wait new bt firmware from samsung for to fix bt problems.
after 20 years of bt there is still compatibility problems??!?
consider that all the tested headphones worked fine with dell streak and htc hd7

I have also purchased the Blueant Q2 and it does not announce the caller name.
The customer support at Blueant say that it is an issue with Samsung. Has anybody else tried this headset and managed to make it announce the caller's name from the phone book?

+1 for MW600... I have bought it for my SGS2 and now using for Note... Excellent... I am also using Sony Ericsson LiveView (with Note and MW600 together) but LiveView has it's own issues...
Tried my 5 years old Motorola HT820 Bluetooth headsets and they seems to be working wonderfully including A2DP and AVRCP profiles. Am on stock rom without any issues. Sound quality amazing !!!
+1 for the HS3000 from Samsung. Works perfectly and the volume controls are buttons which I prefer over an lcd slider in the MW600. Offers a standard 3.5mm jack so you can plug in any headphones you like.
Similar to the HS3000, I'm using my Nokia BH-214 that I was previously using for 2 years on my N900 and so far it works fine. No options for announcing the caller's name though... but for a $40 BT that lets you use any headset/earbuds you want it is a nice option.
Little inquiry:
Never used a bluetooth headset before, but now I'm considering getting one.
Just wanted to know if you need to have Bluetooth enabled all the time or you can set it so that it only does when receiving or making a call.

Yes bluetooth needs to be on all the time if you want to receive calls or audio from the phone.

My JayBird Freedom headset has arrived and it works very well with the Note. It took some doing finding some one willing to ship to Africa. (I ordered it from the JayBird Store).
Looking at the pictures of the freedom they look to be painful to wear but they are great and have a multitude of fitting options for the best comfort. I wanted a wireless headset specifically for music and audio books and this headset delivers there in abundance. Both with Audible & Mort Player for audio books and Player Pro for music.
Unfortunately as some online reviews state the call quality is a little disappointing, it's by no means unusable. But the sound is tinny and a little distant, it's is fact the opposite experience to the music and audio books I was taken aback a little by the contrast. Although tinny I could hear the callers quite clearly and they also stated they could hear me clearly although also a little tinny. Overall I am happy with the headset as it fulfills my primary requirement for listening to stuff without a cord getting in the way.

Ohh thanks. How much does having Bluetooth on all the time affect the battery life? That was my concern.
Hmm. Is there no app/hack/procedure that makes it so you can set it so that it only turns on Bluetooth when receiving or making a call?
But if it barely takes a toll on the battery then never mind.
I would think that the bluetooth link to the headset while not in a call would not take too much power. Having an app turn on bluetooth for a call may work but I suspect by the time the link to the headset has been established your phone would have routed the call to your voice mail.
I use a jawbone ERA without any issues.
I second that.
Love the caller name on the Era and also its customizability.

I am looking to get my hands on a really nice pair of headphones, but need it to be a pair that I can talk and still hear the other person at the same time.
The ones that came with my SGS3, when I start talking it automatically seems to give a mute effect to the person I am talking to on the phone and this has gotten extremely annoying. I am looking for suggestions because I remember that when I got my Galaxy S Vibrant it required a proprietary pair of headphones. I couldnt just go to best buy and grab a pair.
Does anyone have a suggestion? I HIGHLY prefer wired over bluetooth.
Either that or maybe I am missing some kind of setting so I can still hear people if I start talking. lol
