ICS Launchers - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Apex and Nova...
When I set a wallpaper they get distorted and look like crap. Is there a work around? Even the preset ones look blurry. It zooms in and looks horrible.

I figured out the work around. You have to set the wallpaper in TW launcher, then switch back over to Apex / Nova. The wallpaper and settings will carry over. Not grainy and is crystal clear. Confirmed working. Enjoy.

I use quick pic app from the play store and set the wall paper from there and it works fine with nova.

That works too, but it defaults back to the larger one.
Which then switching to TW launcher and back to Apex fixes it. Seems like a restart of the phone cause it to change / glitch.

Notice this with Apex on TDJ's DigiEvolution. Every restart you'll need to goto TWLauncher and back to Apex to correct the image.
This happens on 480x800 resolution wallpapers and not 600x800 for someone reason (scrollable wallpapers)

I have not had a single problem with any of the ICS ROM's and wallpaper. I do use the AOSP gallery though. You can find a thread in the Skyrocket Themes and Apps section about confirmed working AOSP files. I use all of them. The email can be a pain in the ass to get set up though.

El29 wallpaper fix?

I've seen a thread on here about scrolling wallpaper being disabled with el29. Somebody posted modified APK, yet it doesn't seem to work, other than it allowing for.different dimensions in resizing. Most custom roms have it working, how do you fix it? I'd like to have stock el29 with wallpaper hack .

To my knowledge only miui doesn't have scrolling wp and thats only with certain themes.

Why would Sprint/Samsung disable scrolling on wallpapers?? That's stupid, now many live wallpapers are ruined since you can't see the whole scene.
I would like to know a good fix as well. Even knowing which roms have it enabled would be nice.
You dont need a custom rom to fix it. Just install a different launcher. I use go launcher ex and everything works great, including scrolling wallpapers.
I'd like to keep the stock launcher.
Also when I upgraded to EL29 the microbes live wallpaper went poof and was gone. Had to google it to get the apk to get it back.
Calk 2.8.1 fixed the scrolling wallpaper issue.
+1 I've tried everything to get the scrolling wallpaper back on stock EL29 without going to a custom ROM. I even pm's Calk to see if he could do a zip for that feature, but no response yet.

I like to use tw 4.5 launcher and even though it is custom, scrolling wallpaper still doesn't seem to work. Getting a custom launcher still doesn't let you properly resize the wallpaper, unless you replace the gallery apk.
I appreciate work by all the devs, but there isn't a rom out there that I like too much. Most of them make visual changes I am not fond of, or brightness settings. I know that both calcs rom and blazer have working scrolling wallpaper and are both on el29.
Am using unnamed now, since it is still very stable and fast. Had to disable updates via terminal emulator to prevent el29 from downloading and notifying me every hour. Problem with that is it also disables profile and prl updates.

Bump, anyone? I really hate that my tw launchers nor none of the gingerbread launchers work. I'm not fond of adw, lp, nor.go.
I flashed the AIO mod and it has working scrolling wallpapers. I think samsung disabled it when they turned on continuous scrolling through homescreens. It looks a little funny w/ some wallpapers to jump from screen 1 to screen 7 backwards.
Edit: make sure you flash the "preflash" zip too or it won't work.

Don't want to be "that guy" that brings an older post back up to the top, but if I'm wanting to stay stock (I just got this phone, I've had several other Android phones in the past and I don't feel like messing around with custom ROMS anymore)... there's no way to make scrolling wallpapers work again?
I use ADW EX and if I use "Wallpaper Set and Save" from the market, I can get static wallpapers to scroll, but that doesn't help with live wallpapers.
This is irritating!

Flash the AIO mod and then flash other packages to make it stock again. I did that and now have scrollable wallpaper on my story k build. The only modification I have is crt off animation.

Not that I don't know how, because I do... but I've had a Moto Cliq, Nexus One, EVO 4G, Epic 4G, Nexus S 4G... now this E4GT... my flashing days are done, I'm just tired of the hassle.

Wallpaper Cropping Glitch

Has anyone experienced the phenomenon shown in the two images below?
- My phone is unlocked and rooted.
- I am running LiquidSmooth v1.35
- I am also running Franco Milestone 3 kernel
It seems wallpapers will not behave correctly when my phone is in landscape mode. Anybody have some ideas?
I have tried "Wallpaper Wizardrii" which hasn't worked. This happens with both the stock launcher and the Apex launcher.
what is the resolution of the wallpaper?
That particular one is 1280x800. I set the wallpaper, just now, using the gallery "set as" function but while in landscape mode and it has eliminated the black bands on either side. However the transition from portrait to landscape is ugly (the wallpaper jumps around a bit before settling).
I don't remember it being like this in the past. If anyone has any fixes, they would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
I thought the last thing I did fixed it... but a few rotations later it was back to misaligned.
Same thing happens here on stock rom rooted using apex.

Unfortunately wizard or quickpic didn't work for me either.
Edit;
I was going to suggest maybe its some kind of resolution issue but this happens even using the stock provided wall papers and built in wall paper wall paper picker app.

I hate the new ICS wallpaper implementation. Especially, because I always turn off the "Scrolling Wallpaper" option. And I always have to crop my wallpapers to make them fit my screen :X

I dont think it does.
OP, i do not have this issue.
at the time of reading this, i had a wallpaper set to not scroll, and i enabled horizontal lock screen. i had the issue you were talking about.
once i enabled scrolling wallpaper, and reset the wallpaper (same one) i had full screen wallpaper on the hoizontal lock screen.
seems to be an issue with scrolling wallpapers, which also isn't an option to disable on the stock launcher.

Yeah your right forgot about that. Still though, I'm sure older versions of apex displayed the wall paper right in landscape, only since the recent betas it started playing up.

I'm pretty sure the stock launcher supports landscape mode. It happens when you choose Settings > Display > Auto-rotate screen.
Update: I just switched back the the stock launcher and it does auto-rotate AND has the glitch.

Stock rom stock launcher won't auto rotate for me. I'm sure the stock launcher actually supports it but stock rom doesn't and requires tablet mode or something for it to be landscape. I'm sure this is why people started switching to 3rd party launchers to use landscape mode.
Are you on stock rom?

[Q] Wallpaper Scrolling w/ Stock ICS leaks

I haven't been able to get wallpaper scrolling to work on APEX and NOVA launchers but it does work with GO launcher EX. I have tried to set wallpaper using app-Wallpaper Wizardrii™. Also tried using the TW to set wallpaper and then change my launcher to APEX/NOVA. Still no scrolling.
Any ideas?

Apex scrolls for me, but it needs to be enabled. In the Apex settings, under Homescreen section you have to enable multiple screen scrolling or something like that.
It depends what ROM you're on....I heard its mostly disabled since Samsung got sued over it. Works on cm9 with trebuchet and nova.

scrolling wallpaper

I know this is a topic that has little consequence, but i was using a gallery wall paper and it was allowing scrolling, then i switched to another and was forced to crop the wall paper to a static size. After this happened i went and did a search and found out that the sgs3 doesnt support scrolling wall paper natively and that you need to dl a live wallpaper app to make it work. This whole thing bugs the hell out of me, If my phone was using a scroll before i dont understand why it wouldnt be doing it still. any ideas?

Yes, Wallpaper Wizardrii is the best application for photo screen-savers/backgrounds and I think the best launcher would probably be Nova or Launcher Pro. Good luck.

Launcher for GN2!

Well I just came from rooted mytouch 4g and loved the endless possibilities of being rooted! But I don't want to root this GN2 yet because of warranty but enough said I want to change my dpi or just change the size of things and love a good launcher with lots of themes but not any launcher IV tried has abilities to change icon size or dpi...
Any one found a good launcher besides nova prime, or go launcher

I hate Go Launcher. It used to be great. Then they switched over to GetJar to download themes, and they have Free to download but pay to use themes. It's a huge mess. I personally like Nova or Apex. Although now that ADW has updated their app, I've been using that. I have to say it works pretty well, though each time I reboot I have to reset it as the default launcher.
I love the stock launcher with a few exceptions; I don't understand why they made the pages a 4x4 grid. The Note fully justifies a 5x5 grid. I wish that the other launchers gave you the ability to quick-scroll between pages in the homescreen and in the dock like the stock touchwiz launcher does.
I changed my DPI to 280 and use Go Launcher with a 6x6 grid and works very well. Now the stock Samsung keyboard and dialer did not scale correctly, but I use Swipe and the Go Dialer.
Adw has gotten as lot better and after a haitus from it I'm back and it's better than it had ever been

You could simply use one of the toolkits. And if something happens you can use it revert back to complete stock.

Well, I finally invested the time in learning enough about Lightning Launcher. It's really COMPLETELY different than other launchers I've tried, which is what I like about it. I've tried Apex, ADW, Nova and briefly touched GO -- they're all pretty much the same -- all pretty good. Lightning is kind of a big pain to figure out and it doesn't give the option for a scrollable dock, but you can pin, resize, rotate and arrange all icons, widgets and folder labels in whatever way you want, all on a zoomable, scrollable page. You can't really apply themes, but you can make up whatever you want. Your screen is really like a window onto an infinite desktop that you have full control over. It doesn't have the fancy animation options that the others do, so there's not a lot of "Wow" factor for others to see, but I have everything accessible from a single screen that doesn't feel too cluttered with icons. Lightning is free from Play and doesn't require root.
FWIW, here's a screen shot of my home page -- The two rows of icons at the bottom are pinned as well as the Google search widget at the top. Everything else moves and zooms in or out behind the pinned stuff. If I want, I can place other items above, below, or to the sides and just scroll to them. Lightning does support other pages that you can switch to with a two-finger swipe, and I use them as sort of a sandbox for trying things out, but everything I want is on my main home page.
I've been using atom launcher for a while first on my s2 and now on my note2. It will let you create folders which is nothing new but you can scroll with your finger or with the S Pen. Also you can vary the opacity of the icons on the home screen if you want to keep some what of a clean look. I'll post pics to better explain.

I'm pretty sure I've tried them all, and seem to always revert back to Nova Pro. Its fast, stable, has nice features without be gimmicky like Go and some of the others. Bottom line I want something that works that isn't at burden on system resource, Nova fits that bill.
