[Q] Help after unlocking with htcdev.com - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I've unlocked the bootloader of my Desire Z with htcdev.com. Everything went well, after gaining acces to fastboot I flashed CWM 5.0.2.7.
I've tried to flash CM7 from it and the Gapps, and when I rebooted the phone, it get stuck on the white screen and HTC logo.
I've done exactly the same for my HTC ChaCha and everything went well.
Do you have any idea why my phone won't boot ?
Thanks for reading
Here are some infos about the phone :

When you are not s-off, but htcdev unlocked, you need to flash a boot.img for every rom you flash and that too via pc and not recovery.
Do this :
Extract boot.img from your rom.rar
Flash your rom regularly, but don't reboot normally. Instead reboot bootloader.
Connect your phone to pc via usb.
In fastboot(cmd) , type " fastboot flash boot boot.img "
Then reboot.
Just look for the file. It should be in the same folder as your cmd or else type the whole directory address.

[Q] DZ Stuck on white HTC Screen

First of all I successfully downgraded my DZ from android 2.3 to 2.2 using this guide, the phone worked perfectly.
Then I attempted to root my phone using this guide everything went fine until I rebooted the phone. It could not get past the white screen with the HTC logo (without quietly brilliant)
I can access Bootloader, Fastboot, and custom Recovery (CWM Touch) and the bootloader says ENG S-OFF, however I don't know if the phone is rooted (by the existence of the Superuser app) since it won't get past the white HTC screen..
So far I've tried to flash a new ROM (tried two ROMS, this and this)as suggested in this post but the phone is still stuck on the white HTC Screen.
I looked through the forums and found some things that might help and I need your advices on them, they are: (Note: I have NOT attempted any of these)
1. Flashing boot.img of a freshly flashed ROM, procedure as follows:
-Extract boot.img for the flash ROM zip and place where I'll run a command window
-Connect phone in Fastboot USB Mode
-From CMD, run codes:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot
any notes or additions?
2. Using RUU (Haven't found detailed instructions on this one, so any help would be appreciated)
3. This guide
4. Boot from SD using this guide
5. Heavens forbit, test for fried eMMC
Thank you.

Rageagainstthecage isn't the best method for rooting this phone and will only achieve fake soff, I would suggest attempting to unroot following the guide you posted and then using the gfree method, you'll be much happier

So flashing a boot.img of the corresponding flashed ROM won't help? Will it hurt if I try?
And: Unroot using this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1442988
then root using gfree.
Much appreciated thank you
Note: How do I chose the correct file here http://www.ratherphallic.tk/ ?
It won't hurt if you try, but do gfree its much better
And choose the dz one

[Q] [Help] Red triangle issue

Hi,
I tried to update my friends HTC Desire HD from 2.3.5 to 4.2.2. Let me point out that my experience with ROM flashing and rooting is limited.
Since he still had stock ROM my plan was to unlock bootloader, root the device, flash CWM and flash custom some custom ROM(same way I have done before with HTC wildfire S)
I used htcdev to unlock bootloader and that went well.
After that I tried to root using HTC Quick Root. Rooting failed with message device is missing Insecure boot.img. In order to fix this I tried to flash boot.img from fastboot using folllowing command: fastboot flash image boot.img
After this device never booted again. It starts to boot showing green HTC logo but soon goes to image of phone with red triangle and exclamation.
I have red many posts about this problem and possible solutions but non of it worked for me.
As I understand it solution is to flash RUU or manually flash recovery.img but I need some help on how to proceed.
RUU install is failing with error140bootloader version error.

Any help is appreciated.
Red triangle means that u dont have custom recovery installed. Just download the recovery.img from cwm website, boot the device into fastboot, and flash recovery using command fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Then, reboot to bootloader and select recovery. The red triangle should be replaced by cwm recovery at this point. So u can flash whatever rom u want. Just do not forget to flash boot.img of the rom everytime u flash new rom.

Also the correct command is
Fastboot flash boot boot.img

[Q] [SOLVED!]HTC Desire z bootloop

So,
I just bought a Htc Desire z a few days ago. Unlocked the bootloader, Installed CWM. All was going well until I decided to flash a Rom then the phone when into a bootloop and CWM stopped working.
So far I've fixed the recovery through fastboot but I'm still in a bootloop.
Any Ideas?
Additional details:
I'm on Ubuntu, I'm not so good with fastboot(or adb), the phone is a Turkish HTC desire Z, I have a NAndroid back-up right before I flashed the rom. I've tried combining it with the stock recovery. Obviously didn't work.

Hi,
VISION PVT S-ON
It means security ON
So, it won't let you flash anything
First, you have to run a rom again (dunno how....
from bootloader what are yours options? You can go to recovery?
if not, maybe installing a RUU from bootloader... But wait, i'm not sure you can...
And then, you'll start again :

No actually I can extract a RUU to a IMG file.
I currently can go into the bootloader(therefore into fastboot) and I can flash recoveries long as they're in img format.
I know this going to sound stupid considering that I got this far but what exactley is a RUU ? I mean I know I got the Hboot update from one but do they contain stock Roms as well?

I strung a few together tutorials but you know they're all same. sudo fastboot oem get_identifier_token. So yes.

in that case you just have to copy the boot.IMG file from the rom you downloaden. Put it in the map with fastboot etc. Then open a terminal and type fastboot flash boot boot.img I dont know if how this works on Ubuntu. But i think its something like that on Ubuntu.

didn't see much on s-off. You do have anything else?
Its in the first post, first you need to get a factory image running and relock your bootloader, then follow the steps in the xda wiki or strawmetals PDF guide. If you don't want to do this and would rather keep secure flags on then then each ROM you flash you will need to fastboot flash the kernel when done
But I highly recommend to get true radio s-off

Did you buy your phone after 2012? Also since your phone is s-off you do not require a unlocked hboot to flash the recovery. If you relock it the pg76img will work. Its the unlock that disables this method.

Upgrading Hboot help

Hello everyone, need some help upgrading hboot to try out some roms. Currently I'm on 0.85.2425 and when trying to flash from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38947050&postcount=10) and here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2445593) I get a 'writing zip FAILED'. If I flash the rom.zip manually from adb in oem-78 mode [fastboot flash zip rom.zip] everything goes smoothly but hboot doesn't update.
This is what I'm looking at.

Here's what i get, I tried to get the output to go to a txt file but that didn't work.
The problem you can't flash in RUU mode could be the drivers or the fastboot app you are using. It could also be a CID problem.
You can check here how to upgrade your hboot by using fastboot.
But as long as you are S-OFFed you can flash a PD98IMG.zip from your bootloader by putting it in the root of your sdcard.(Just rename the rom.zip to PD98IMG.zip)

I don't know what a RUU mode is nor am I using any fastboot apps. I will look into this CID stuff.
I actually cannot do the PD98IMG.zip thing as my volume buttons left their home... and the visible metal contacts don't do anything if shorted.
Thanks for the link, I will check out!
EDIT: The post you linked me to has the same instructions as what I've been trying, I mean exactly the same stuff. This is the 3rd hboot rom.zip I've tried and it worked! I'm on 2.00.29 so thanks a bunch for that link
EDIT 2: Now unlocking the bootloader from HTCDev, got to last part and need to use volume buttons! Doh! I'm stuck now and the phone will not boot into the ROM.
EDIT 3: Got it! I didn't realize that there was a tiny button under the actual volume key, just had to press it with something small.
