I'm sorry for starting a new thread, but I've tried several things on this board and nothing seems to work.
I rooted my fire a while back with Kindle Fire Utility with no problems. I had google marketplace and then installed twrp, so I'm not a total noob.
However, after rooting my friend's kindle, the marketplace doesn't show up, and nothing I do after scouring the internet seems to let me install it.
Do you recommend that I install twrp, and wipe the whole kindle clean and retry or what?
What might be the reason that I installed everything easily on mine, but not his? Will wiping the kindle clean fix this issue?
Watch Nat3mil do it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTkegVrnAvA or the kindle fire utility 0.9.3 has it under extras selection 2 google apps/go launcher
That's just it. I installed the extras and it added all of the apps but the store. That didn't happen to me before, and is what is so strange. I'm watching Nate's video.
The KFU has been know for not being able to installed Google play store, so here are the intructions I used.
Pre requisites:
Your device must be rooted.
Note: Lots of ROMS out there have Google play store and apps already installed. There is even a rom called MoDaCo that uses the kindle fires stock UI but comes with market installed. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439916
1. Download Google play http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583888 and Googleservicesframework. Apk
http://www.2shared.com/file/XvA0M1uz/GoogleServicesFramework.html
2. Move the Google play store to system/apps
3. Install Googleservicesframework apk like a normal application.
4. Reboot your device
Kindle Fire running CM9 Reloaded
New developer, working on my own custom rom
So i rooted my kindle fire, and, using root explorer, successfully installed Google Play. But i have a few questions.
1. I have v3.15.19, but i cannot find some apps, like 100 floors and Rockplayer(lite).
2. Is there anyway to get Google Play to auto-update?
3. Is there anyway to get Google Play as my main Market, because when it gives me any links, it opens up Amazon Market, not Google Play
4. What else can rooting do for me. All ive done is install Google Play. I know i can install ROMS like CM7 or CM9, but what else can i do?
Thanks!
EDIT: Well I flashed a few ICS Roms(CM9 and Energy) but never having a android device before and getting used to the kindle fire's OS, I really didn't like ICS, and, luckily, I made a backup and i just restored the backup and everything was back to its old state.
Oh yeah, and for 3, I went into the Amazon Market, and went somewhere in the menu that let me decide to open links automatically or have it ask me which one. So that problems solved.
you can flash modaco if your on rooted stock it may give you more benefit in the play store if your having issues. google play and amazon work side by side quite nicely plus you have the benefit of the stock experience if thats what you really want. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439916

1. It's normal.
2. Clear market's cache and reopen it.
4. You can think of God mode. you can do anything you want, really.

sense no one gave a good answer to Question number 3 I will give it a try
3. the only way to make it so that it loads the Google Play store instead of amazon app store is to Flash a non-Kindle based ROM but before you run and flash a custom ROM.
If you are a prime member I would suggest that you do not flash a non-Kindle based ROM because you will lose your access to the Amazon's Lending Library, and Amazon Instant Video.
I would suggest you flash a non-Kindle based ROM if you wont a full android experience and do not need the services listed above

That isn't necessarily true. I have a rooted KF and am still able to access my Amazon subscription services and videos.
I flashed the MoDaCo ROM and am using GoLauncher EX to still give me the Aneroid feel. In order to get around Amazon's rediculous 'no root' block, I simply use Voodoo OTA RootKeeper to 'save' my root status and fake an un-root status. Then you can restart your amazon app and it will allow you to access your prime and instant video stuff.
When you're done watching, you can return to root status using Voodoo again.
Hope that helps!

That is not what I was Talking about. I know you can use that method to access the services on a Rooted Kindle but to my knowledge there is no method to get access to Amazon Prime services on a Non-Kindle Based Rom.

My apologies, I missed when you said non kindle-based ROM. And to my knowledge you are correct.

Amazon doing something new to block play?
I rooted my KF (6.3.1) and installed the services framework and play (3.5.15), but it won't allow me to login to my google account, says "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server".
Is Amazon doing something new to keep us away from Play -- something in a hosts table or firewall setting somewhere?

Download and install MoDaCo. It is pre rooted stock UI with Google framework services and Play Store already installed. Besides being a little faster, you really won't notice a difference.
I have the WIFIGPS Server for Kindle Fire installed on my Droid 3 phone, but when I go to the Google Play store on my rooted Kindle Fire, it won't let me download the GPS for Kindle Fire app that goes with it. And every single page I've found that CLAIMS to have a download for the apk file ACTUALLY just has a buttload of ADS and a LINK to the GOOGLE PLAY STORE!!! It's maddening. I've been searching for this for an HOUR now. I can get the app to install on my Droid 3, but THAT isn't rooted and I don't know how to get apk files off of it...
... so can someone either tell me where I can download the apk or tell me how to get it off my Droid 3 if I have to go that route? Pretty please? I'm at the tearing-my-hair-out in frustration stage now...
Have the girlfriends KF rooted and running Hells ICS rom. Everything was working beautifully but now using the kindle fire app from the google store it will only read her books from the cloud it wont load them into the KF. Is there any way to get it to store her books to the KF like it used to, short of going back to the stock KF rom? Changing the build props and loading the original KF reader apk maybe?
I have been trying to root a Kindle Fire 8.9 running 8.4.9. After I run Bin4ry it seems to work but the tablet is extremely slow and unusable. After I restore to factory settings it is fine again but of course with no root.
Can anyone offer help?? I just want to run another launcher and install apps from google play.
Thank you!
I am not a developer. I am not even particularly computer savvy, but I did this and it worked.
I have had my Kindle Fire HD 8.9 since it was released. I rooted it using Bin4ry. Somehow, the 8.4.9 update was installed and I lost root. I have had a heck of a time getting it back. I got the slow instability as well. I was unable to access google play and kept getting the "google play store has stopped" message. I was about to give up when I found this: Buildprop editor. Its available through the google play store, but of course, I couldn't access the google play store., so I searched the internet for a download of the apk. I plugged in my kindle fire and copied it to the download file. You will also need ES explorer (which is available via amazon) and a super user app, which I also had to find and install. Once I had all of these, I was able to revert back to 8.4.6. which is rootable and it cleared up my sluggishness.
I used this video for reference:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_HyI1HuqO0
and changed everything using the applicable numbers. Obviously I couldn't use his because he was on the HDX, but the basic premise is the same.
I also have KindleFree, which is available somewhere on this forum and I purchased the upgrade from google play store.. This installs everything I need to make me happy and I can download things from google play and use a launcher instead of the kindle shelves.
This worked for me. It might not work for you and I take no responsibility for any issues you may have as a result of using this method. I performed it at my own risk and prayed a lot. I was also fully prepared to dump my kindle in the trash had it not worked.
