Which kernel for Energy ROM? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Which you guys recommend for Energy ROM?

the chop suey that comes with it is very good. when i ran this rom i used Anthrax kernel with very good results, but you need a hboot over like .76 if i remember right. just make sure any kernels you try are sense kernels... i recommend testing a few and see how they are on your phone. every phone is different. Make sure you dont wipe cache of all the apps that came with the rom.

I got the best results out of anthrax kernel was well

I also used the Anthrax kernel and had good results.now I'm using the underworld kernel and I like this one as well. Like previously stated above try a couple and see which works well for you. Every phones different.

Netarchy vs baked snack kernel

Basically what the title says. What's the differences, which ones better or which one do you prefer? Pros cons?
Any thoughts would really help. Thanks ahead of time.

These get old. We can't tell you more than the description.
In any case, does Snack even have it's own kernel? I haven't tried that ROM for more than a few hours without liking it. Netarchy has a kernel with builds for DC, Fresh, and stock. It's a solid kernel.
Edit: It is a custom kernel on Snack. It appears there aren't builds for it outside of the snack ROM though. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Sorry for any musinformation.

If you have the Damage Control or Fresh ROM flashed to your phone, your best bet is to use the corresponding netarchy kernel as they are made for those ROMS. I have no input on the baked snack kernel because I haven't used it. I flashed DC3.2.3 and netarchy DC kernel and never looked back.
used both
I have to say I liked BS rom it was good I moved on today to EVio and I have to say I am impressed not only was I able to remove sense the kernel is way snappier. Give me a few more says to test and I will have a really good idea on how much I like this new ROM

Kernal questions

Hey guys, whats up.
so i have flashed just about every ROM available and i always go back to stock, for some reason i like it best, BUT i would like a overclocked / undervolted kernel to go with it and im not sure how that works.
can i flash any kernel while using the stock Verizon ROM, or is a custom ROM required?
and if i can on the stock ROM, are hydra kernels still the way to go, or is something better out that i havent seen?
thanks guys!
You can do a custom Kernel on the stock ROM as long a you are rooted. Hydra's Kernels are good but I have had an amazing experience with KingXKlick #5 really does great battery life with overclocking.
Thanks kungfuturkey for the insight.
I'm rooted but haven't begun playing with Roms. The more I look around, the more I like what Sense has to offer me... it is one of the reasons I bought the Incredible. But, if I stick with stock... I think I want to upgrade the radio and kernel.
I noticed your recommend the KingsClick over the hydra. Have you also upgraded the radio?
Thanks.

There are up/downsides to updating your radio, ex - worse/better reception, call quality, battery life. These vary by geography, ROM, kernel, device.
Opinions vary, and the ROM you run also makes a difference, along with the battery you use (if not stock), as well as how much/many things you synch
- take a look at the official radio thread - from there you should be able to glean what works for you.
Yes I have upgraded the radio which is easy to do but stressful because if you do it more than once it WILL brick your phone but just do it once and your good. Hydra's kernels are good but as far as battery life goes I've had better luck with Kings #5

Question rls5 kernel couldnt post in other forum.

Hey, little new to this stuff. I've tried a few different kernels,
kings 11, ziggy and netarchy I can't tell which one is best. I have rls5 currently.

only you will know what kernel is best for your phone, try each one for a day or 2, make sure everything works, if all work well them choose the one with better battery life,
all kernels react different on each phone, we can tell you what works for us but it might not be what works for you
Hey I really appreciate the reply. It seems like the netarchy was really messing with my video. Had lines on my screen. Also been using set CPU to overclock is there anything you would recommend?

[Q] Kernel Question

Hello fellas,
i am very new to the rooting world. i just flashed the cm7- Darkside hybrid and everything went smooth. But it came with the Synergy Kernel. I do not like the Synergy kernel. i was wondering if i could put the darkside kernel in there even though its part cm7? Anything helps!
Yea just flash any kernel you want to use. Im using the Juggernaut 5.0 Rom and using the darkside rc2 kernel! Great combo!

NO.. You must flash a kernel made for the CM7 rom, which actually I think Synergy is the only one, so you're stuck with that.
Unless Darkside made one too.
If you change roms that's not a CM7 than yes, you can try any kernel out there.

What he said.
There is another cm7 kernel in the skyrocket area made by da_g or d_ag can't remember which spelling. But yeah, try that one out, have heard good things. It will mess up your auto-rotation though...
I've tried a few; faux123's is my personal favorite.
CM7 kernels waste of time - wait for a real CM7 release for anything worthwhile. If you really want CM, get rid of the T989 and go for the international version.

[Q] Looking for Rom/Kernel Recommendation

Basically looking for some recommendations for a current ROM/Kernel setup. I have used quite a few combinations in the past, and I do not mind changing around finding good ones, I need stability now. Mostly it is now because my girlfriend has an Evo and I would like to flash her phone with something that is stable and not buggy. Any links / recommendations would be highly appreciated!
Sense Mikg 3.0 with lionfish kernel
Aosp Decks tiamat 3.3.7 (LEE kernel) with cod tweaks and vipermod
Sense 3.5 Prime XL 3D with anthrax kernel test version

If your girls anything like mine youll want to keep a basic clean rom so you don't have to hear her about little bugs lol
Mikg 3.0
Tommy's classic
Those are ready to go everything works shell be happy with either

Let me suggest Mik G 3.0. Great ROM. Running it on a lot of friends EVO's and no problems. Everyone loves their setup. Do a full wipe. Partition your SD card. Set swap to 0 i only set the next step to 600 or 700 something cant remember the exact numbers. You'll see when performing the task. Don't bother going 1 gig. Once done upgrade to partition 3. On first boot up don't sign into anything. Just click thru setup. Let it sit for 10 minutes. Restart in recovery and wipe cache and dalvik. Flash either a anthrax of lionfish kernel. After flashing the kernel re wipe cache and dalvik before booting up. Once again dont sign into anything yet and let it sit for another 10 minutes. Reboot and do you'r thing.
Chiming in with much love for MikG 3.0 and TommyTomatoe's Classic. Both OUTSTANDING ROMs if you want a stable and buttery smooth beast of a ROM.
For kernel I stand by aggressive freedom or lionfish (based on freedom)

I've been using DropZero's Radiance ROMs for a long time. The have always been smooth for me, especially with the Anthrax kernel

Sense Roms:
MikG/stock kernel works great as well as Tommy's Classic. If she doesn't care to overclock then you don't need a different kernel than the one that comes with the Rom. All can be found in the development section.
AOSP Roms:
I found Decks to be the best or CM7 with Tiamat.
Also a new Ram tweak script just came out and so far so good.

Hope this helps.
