TMBT989UVKL1 Captured During Kies Restore Session - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I captured the following four tar.md5 archives downloaded by kies, during a recent restoral.
PHP:
T989UVKL1_ABOOT_SGH-T989user_CL799405_REV00.tar.md5
T989UVKL1_phone_secure_D_PROJECT_TMOBILE_REV_04_CL744338.tar.md5
T989UVKL1_PLATFORM_KERNEL_AMSS_SGH-T989user_CL799405_REV00.tar.md5
T989UVKL1_SGH-T989-CSC-TMBT989UVKL1_CL799405.tar.md5
Just thought I'd get this out there, as you probably won't find a cleaner base to build from. I've used 7zip to compress, and split an archive, to make it available via MediaFire. But the md5 archives within, are completely untouched. Have Fun.... =)

[Q] How to extract firmware package via Kies Firmware Update

can u point out the folder???
It resides in the User Temp folder of your windows user profile.
And is deleted as soon as the firmware upgrade is completed on your phone.
can you post the exact compressed file name..what zip utility are you using.
I know winzip is suck..cant unzip alot of stuff.
What size is the package file ?
if the package is stored on non-english characters..that post problem too.
Its just any random file name ending with a TMP extension. Its about 257MB.
e.g. tmp2EFA.tmp
Still no leads to opening this file.
Post the first line of the file: some formats are identifiable based on their opening signature.

What unzip program are you using ?
Can you try change the extension to .7z and use WinRar to unzip it..Winzip no go
Before Kies starts to flash the firmware, it decrypts the .tmp file to .zip file in the same directory. When Kies update window says "Extracting binary file" or something like that, you can copy the zip file from temp directory. It contains one tar and one dll file. Tar file can be flashed with Odin

If that's the case, are there any other ways to decrypt this file back to zip directly than doing the whole upgrade thing again just for the zip?

Convert Wotan Flash to FTF? or SIN?

Is it possible to decrypt Wotan flash files? here example:
for E10:
The Client Window with 2.1.1.A.0.6 UK
The files it flash:
RXC65499ceaf51319f40237f173e65b0114
WinRar:
RXB55c89f553e952b96609d23e686a668ad
WinRar:
RXD4c3a39d5624f20d3fc783e3817502a66
WinRar:
*Now the problem is, when I rename the files to SIN and make bundle FTF with Flash Tool, it stuck, I try every file there, but it can't flash them
**I need it because I have Prototypes, and they flash-able only with Flash Tool.
Unfortunately not.
I tried a few weeks ago: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1126409#postcount15007369
what about rename all files to *.sin ? after that try to convert to ftf
Good luck in your endouvers, please call me when successful!
It IS possible!
Extract all the files wotan has downloaded in the /data/flashes folder with 7zip. (they have no file extension)
Now you should have files with extensions like "*.s01", "*.s02", and so on.
Rename all files to "*.sin"
In Flashtool (I used 0.6.8.0) menu Advanced -> Bundle Creation
Select all *.sin files, right arrow to Firmware content
Fill in the Device, Version and Branding field
Press OK
Now you have your selfmade *.ftf file!
Edit: It doesn't work on my LT18i! But it should!! You hear from me.
Work??
It's Work???
How do I extract ftf file so I can flash kernel.sin via fastboot?

[Q] Extract Boot.img from Stock ROM

Hi guys, I would like to extract boot.img from a Stock ROM without the need of installing it on my (Galaxy Note 2 T-mobile). All I found on the internet is how to extract it from an installed ROM.
So I would like to:
1. Extract the boot.img
2. Then flash it through ODIN to my custom ROM (Jedi Master 14)
Thanks in advance and please help me :crying:
Why would you do that?
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement
I don't know how you going to use boot.img to fix your problem. But the .md5 rom files are just zipped files. unzip and you will find the boot.img file. Are you sure that this will fix your problem?
Are you trying to change your boot image?
Use a tar archive program (7-Zip, Winzip, Winrar, PKZip, this format is pretty universal) to extract what you need from the official Samsung ROM images. (Check out sammobile.com if you haven't already, you will need to register.)
You might get some error message about the end of the archive, that's normal and due to the presence of the MD5 hash at the end of the file, which most programs will be able to work around nonetheless.
Repack the relevant file with a *nix tar binary, or under Cygwin on a Windows machine. (YMMV, but those are the two only ways I've managed to have the files work with Odin.)
Reboot phone to download mode and flash with Odin as usual.
Done.
Thanks a lot. Thats exactly what I am looking for.

Need help finding .tar or .md5 file to flash back to stock.

Hello all, I need some help finding the .tar or the .md5 file from the stock ROM zip file (Tab Pro 8.4).
I am trying to flash / revert back to stock ROM and recovery, since I am giving this tablet to my nephew. I've downloaded the official firmware directly from Samsung, I've downloaded Odin V3.07 and the samsung drivers are installed on my laptop. I've used Odin before, to flash files (months ago), but where I'm getting stuck is on Odin when I go to select the .tar or the .md5 file form the zip, I can't locate the files. I've extracted them several times using different methods, but not a single time have I been able to extract a .tar or .md5 file, all I get is: META-INF folder, system folder and boot disk image, no .tar or .md5 file anywhere in the folders either.
Am I an idiot here or what am I doing wrong that I don't get the .tar or .md5 file?
Any help is appreciated, thanks!
i am not sure where you downloaded it from. i took it from sammobile and the name of the zip is: T320XXU1BNI1_T320DBT1BNJ1_DBT.zip inside it being a file named: T320XXU1BNI1_T320DBT1BNJ1_HOME.tar.md5
PS: i have a german device thats why the DBT code...please download yours...

I am downloading it one more time from sam mobile just to make sure. How did you extract the zip (what program)? 7zip, winrar, etc?
i think i know whats going on. i use winrar for windows you probably use something else. inside .zip there is a .md5 file but inside .md5 file there are meta folders etc. some software consider it being an archive inside an archive and it doesn't even bother to tell you that probably it's extracting folders directly...

Updating KK modem to LP, Odin problem?

Phone: SM-N900T
Baseband: NB4
Build: OB6
Symptoms: Lagging/freezing video playback on certain videos. Video camera will freeze then force reboot in native apps and accessed from other apps when recording (IE Skype video message, or taking video with camera app), however Skype streaming works.
Research: Teh internets claimed that a mismatched build/baseband could cause funky issues.
Attempted remedies: Changed ROMs and had same problem. Then tried to upgrade baseband (both modem and non-hlos) via Odin, but no matter what file I download, how I rename it, what I extract it with, or which version of Odin I used...Odin will NOT see the files neither as .tar, .tar.md5, or even extracted out to the .bin.
Computer: Alienware 13 x64 W8.1 (yes I've rebooted it several times)
Odin's used: 3.7, 3.9, 3.12.3 (always ran as administrator)
Help? I've also tried downloading the files several times, and from different sources...clicking any of the buttons in Odin (in any version), with the files either located in a folder or on my desktop, Odin will NOT see .tar, .tar.md5, or .bin.
Update: It turns out that somehow, the file explorer in Odin is stuck in some view of the past...It contains a folder, that still shows up even when I've deleted it. It's like Odin is stuck in the past and doesn't see any new changes when accessing the file explorer to get its files. I can also add a new folder to a directory in Odin's file selection GUI that will only show up in Odin's file explorer, yet it won't show up in Windows file explorer. Thoughts?
Flash the latest stock rom from sammobile.com in Odin. This way, the phone will definitely have a matched bootloader and modem.
